Don’t Play In The Street!

I couldn’t help laughing. Does that make me a bad person?

Car hits protester, gunfire briefly erupts at Ferguson protest

A day of peaceful commemoration of the second anniversary of Michael Brown’s death was marred Tuesday night when gunfire broke out after a protester was struck by a motorist.

After a quiet morning vigil and evening church service, the night turned violent when a car speeding south on Florissant Avenue struck a protester who had ventured into the street.

Others among the roughly 75 protesters began trying to cut off the car, which then reversed direction and tried to head north to avoid the crowd, according to several witnesses.

At that point, witnesses said, several protesters pulled out guns, began chasing and firing at the fleeing car.

When I was little my mom taught me not to play in the street. And back then we didn’t have peaceful protesters packing pistols to protest the police.

This reminds me of the time my ex-wife hit a deer, except the deer got up and ran off, and nobody shot at her.

The best part of the video is when the camerawoman starts complaining that the cops aren’t doing anything.

I like the part where it says several street thugs , I mean peaceful protesters, pulled out their guns and just started shooting. Must have been friends of the family.

More good news: We are starting another heat wave today and my AC is iced up. I have to turn it off until it thaws out, and hope it doesn’t immediately ice up again when I turn it on.

    • DeniseVB says:

      Is it a central a/c?

I think there was an a/c problem a few weeks ago (window unit?) where cleaning the filter helped.

      Good luck !

    • lateblum says:

My AC stopped and I removed the air filter to clean it. It has been running well (knock wood) since then. In fact, I cleaned the air filter of the other unit after that.
Another thing that could figure into the unit malfunction is that the condensed water might not be draining properly.
I just checked the manual for one of my ACs. It said to keep the fan running when defrosting the unit. Just don’t use it as an AC during that time. Good luck.

      • blowme0bama says:

Yeah, that’s pretty much the extent of any DIY for AC. Beyond that, need AC guy.

      • Myiq2xu™ says:

        Check, check, check.

      • kanaughty says:

It’s true about the fan. I remember having to run that only while unfreezing the unit until an ac dude showed up.

      • kanaughty says:

We currently have one of those filters you clean, but i could never get it cleaned like someone never cleaned it before. So now we special order because of the weird size, the one use filters. And i change it every month because of dogs and allergies and because i don’t want to unit to freeze up. Before we moved to virginia, i never lived in a house with ac. For some reason in washington state central air is very rare. It is in a lot of newer builds (and in luxury apts) since the summers are getting hotter there 😦 but most homes had window acs if they had ac at all. Right now we are looking at a house for $350k and it is a huge 90’s built on 5 acres but of course since in washington, no ac, so we’d have to put in a unit. We’ve been spoiled living in southern states and now indy for 10 years having ac everytime. 🙂

        • kanaughty says:

F’ john kerry’s unreasonable stance on ac, because not only good for keeping home cool, but also cleaning the air of allergens and keeping the house dryer, less moisture so not at all as much mold issues. This is one reason why i am not sure washington state didn’t have ac in homes sooner. Because black mold can be a huge problem there. It’s in any type of renters responsibility doc, that you have to report it to landlord.

    • 49erDweet says:

Once cleared and dry, spray dirt/dust off the condenser vanes with a can of compressed air used for cleaning computers. Cheap and fast, both qualities to be admired.

    • kanaughty says:

Iced up meant two visits to put in more refrigerant (?) and then a week before we were about to move it totally crapped out (but it was november in virginia, so no need for air really anymore). The owners were going to have to buy a new unit. This was in humid richmond, va. So we used the heck out of the ac from at least may to Septemberish. It was a unit from the 1980’s original to the house being built.

I’m starting to think this may have been his payoff for the endorsement.

      • Anthony says:

Agree, but there’s also the possibility that he used campaign donations. I remember a sort of “movement” by disgruntled supporters who tried to get refunds from their credit cards after he capitulated. Some cards had a 3 or 6 month period where they reversed charges, others did not. Do you remember hearing anything about that?

        • DeniseVB says:

Yes I do remember that. If you can prove “the item wasn’t as it was described to be” you can challenge the charge. Bernie sure sold his supporters a bill of goods, huh? If he were an honest man, he would have joined Jill Stein on her ticket to carry on the fight for his supporters. Proof he was bought off quite handsomely by the Clintoon Machine to endorse her then go away.

          • Anthony says:

Agree about payment/endorsement, but also wondering if they planted him purposely to get ppl like Jim Webb out of the contest. Sometimes, there might not be enough tin foil in the world 🙂

“A white family”? How about an Appalachian white family that’s been in severe poverty for generations and generations, who’s only possible income comes from coal mining that The Nation is in favor of permanently shutting down. Clearly that family is dripping with white privilege. They should feel guilty and give their broken down stove and pots and pans to the Obamas.

The economy is crap, our trade relations are crap, the Middle East is on fire. Europe is falling, we’re at war, the Hillary camp is completely corrupt, guilty of abhorrent crimes and national security breaches and is killing off their own people that talk, and the media focuses on BS stories about Trump and his supporters. TECH QUESTION: – what’s better for online security and max bandwidth? Firefox? or Chrome?

    Thanks for the help!

    • elliesmom says:

I uninstalled Firefox when Mozilla fired Brendan Eich over his donation to the folks trying to stop the legalization of same-sex marriage. I support same-sex marriage, but I disagree with someone losing his job over a quiet donation to a political cause more. Elliesdad worked for Donald Rumsfeld, and we often got letters in the mail from him ranting about voting for Ted Kennedy. Jobs weren’t on the line over it, but it still crossed the line. I don’t think Elliesdad has ever “defaced” his car with a bumper ticker in his life, but the letters said no car with a Kennedy bumper sticker would be allowed in the company parking lot. I think it had been several elections since Kennedy even had stickers made. lol I admit I liked Firefox more than I like Chrome, but I’m not going back.

      • Anthony says:

Thanks, elliesmom – I called Mac, and they recommended Firefox because they said it was more secure for my OS, so I had to go with that.

Totally understand your feelings about what Mozilla did, and would usually boycott as well (even though I’ll never agree to getting married 🙂 ) but I’m more concerned about security after having one hard drive go down a few years ago. I’ll be getting both, and then check performance. Thanks again!

      • 49erDweet says:

Firefox went south for me about 2 years ago. Operationally, not politically, so good luck. It got quirky and jerky in the middle of key usage periods. (I publish several date sensitive community Facebook pages.). Have been relatively happy with Chrome ever since. Ya pays your money, ya takes your choice.

    • Mt.Laurel says:

I have most browsers loaded because under “other duties” I ended up doing two little non profit web sites.

I find that the widows version as well as the windows/mac make a difference.

I keep IE because some sites just do not work well with others (looking at you gas company and condo association).

I don’t care for Google chrome but a lot of people love it. I use Chrome and Firefox mostly for testing web pages.

I prefer Opera for personal web browsing because hardly anyone uses it – it has fewer problems and uses fewer resources.

There is also another new browser called Vivaldi from a former CEO of Opera.

Mac does seem to prefer Firefox even to its own Safari (Mac only, Safari for Windows is dead).

Warning -If you uninstall Chrome – watch out – because it changes the registry so it is the default browser and can cause problems with all the other browsers. You have to uninstall and reinstall Opera/Firefox/IE/Etc.. to get the registry to let you reset the default.

      • Anthony says:

Thanks for the tip! Decided against Chrome – too many “user’s agreements” lol

        • Mt.Laurel says:

You ought to see the agreements to uninstall Chrome. They come back and ask you half a dozen times if you are sure you want leave such a perfect browser and why you should not leave and then they demand you fill out a form to explain to them why you are cutting the ties with them and are you leaving because you met a new browser. And never once do they mention that Chrome has reset the computer defaults and will cause havoc in the afterlife

By the way, I told them I wanted a divorce because Chrome came preinstalled and was not even my fifth pick of browsers. I added that I found it too controlling and with apparent attachment issues. I suggested Chrome should seek counseling. I think now the demand for a reason has become a request. Good Google.

‘Now cut off my mic!’ Bongino refuses to be bullied by Don Lemon over Trump, 2nd Amendment – HEATED!

Things got real personal Tuesday night between CNN’s Don Lemon and former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino while discussing Donald Trump’s much maligned comment on Second Amendment supporters possibly stopping rival Hillary Clinton.

Perhaps Lemon took exception to Bongino summarizing the hyperventilating on the left as being “in the comical realm.”

    Read more:

    • Anthony says:

Best part about that video was how shell shocked Toobin looked when Bongino was schooling Lemon. The collusion between the MSM, the Clinton machine and the Bush Republicans is getting to be a joke.

Another example: Last week, according to the MSM, Trump stomped a baby, bit its head off and threw it on a grill for lunch. The Mother of the child made several TV appearances, and the “babykiller!” meme continued. I don’t know whether to laugh or be scared…

      • swanspirit says:

I liked the look on Don Lemon’s face when Bongino told him he was just a ” TV personality” . That was priceless too. These people are really obtuse, and not at all accustomed to being questioned, about anything.

  32. Venus says:

The race for POTUS was over the minute Trump won the Republican primary. The fact that the establishment could not stop him there — in a field of 16 and with all that money on attack ads against him (and the “free media” he got argument is bullshit — he didn’t have editorial control, and that was mostly negative) — means he’s going to win. As we know from 2008, and as the DNC Leak shows, the establishment has a lot of control over the primary process. And still — Trump got 300 more delegates than he needed for the nomination and more votes than any other Republican in a primary ever (in a field of 16!). The establishment just does not have that kind of control in a general election when hoi polloi can vote en masse.
Hillary, on the other hand, even though she’s basically being Weekend at Bernie’s through the GE us going to get 60 million votes no matter what. Obama got 65 million in 2012 — subtracting some of the Bernie peeps who will stay home or vote 3rd party, and accounting for the fact she will get the same % of minorities that Obama did, although less turn out, 60 million is a good estimate.
Romney got 60 million in 2012. The #NeverTrumps won’t vote for him — but they’ve proven to have microphone and money, but few numbers (see their attempt to stop Trump at RNC with rule changes and floor voted that failed for lack of #s). When you replace them with those who stayed home in 2012 rather than vote for Romney but will come out for Trump, it’s a wash.
Hillary 60 million Trump 60 million.
Now, you have to add in those who never voted before who are coming out for Trump — you see them at his rallies every day (and yes, Romney had some big rallies too — made me hopeful — but that was only a few toward the end — Trump has had them since he started last year and he’s still having them). That’s the # that’s going to give him the win.
And Hillary, the MSM and the NeverTrumps establishment know it. That’s why they’re hysterical — demanding he “drop out” because they couldn’t beat him with rules, or with candidates. The establishment’s only hope is suppressing turnout for him to keep him under 60 million so Hillary can win by default. The fact that they are using this hysteria NOW in August, while the Olympics are going on, rather than October just shows how hard their task is going to be. Like the primary where these same people guaranteed Trump would not win a single contest, then guaranteed he’d never get to 1237, then guaranteed he’d never be the nominee via a brokered convention, these same people guarantee that he will not won the GE. Wrong then. Wrong now.

    • SHV says:

Also trying for a hope and a prayer/wishful thinking political knock out of Trump in August may also indicates the panic resulting from knowledge of what is contained in yet to be released Clinton e-mails. A lot of reality based fear in the Clinton campaign.

    • foxyladi14 says:

The right man, at the right time. 😀

    • Constance says:

I find all these “breaking news” Trump outrage stores tiring. The media already seem like the little boy who cried wolf constantly. I just put them on ignore. So If they try to come up with some Trump outrage in late October everyone is going to have outrage fatigue. Media’s style of political gotcha reporting is like going to a poorly made action movie that doesn’t make sense and keeps the tension level too high too long.

  33. Myiq2xu™ says:

  34. SHV says:

“The fact that they are using this hysteria NOW in August,….”
That, perhaps, is the biggest “tell” that “real” poll numbers obtained by the DNC, must show that Clinton’s numbers must be in the shitter. DNC running a lot of anti-Trump ads during Olympics in August, when common wisdom is that no one pays attention until after Labor Day, shows panic. All of the Trump is insane, etc., etc., DNC/MSM narrative just immunizes him for when the real campaign begins.

    • Somebody says:
