This is awesome:

Dear Mr President,

I want to thank you for reminding us in South Louisiana not to discriminate against anyone based on race or religion. Had you not reminded us of this I don’t know what we would have done. See we rode around in a boat saving people and well race or religion never entered my mind. Not once. It didn’t enter my buddies mind or my wife’s. Just saving people.

I understand you may be miss informed because of all the race baiting that the media did a couple months ago here is South Louisiana. But I assure you that’s not what we stand for in South Louisiana. We love each other when the times get hard. We look out for our own. Now I know this doesn’t fit your agenda. But facts are facts.

O and by the way stay up in DC play a little golf and enjoy your last couple months in office. Make sure you clean out your desk. Clean out the house you’ve occupied for 8 years cause your time is up. Let ya buddy Ms Clinton know we don’t need her either. She needs her rest. Lord knows she needs rest more then the residents of South Louisiana do. She may could put some of that Clinton foundation blood money to good use down here helping others. But why would she do that. She already knows Louisiana doesn’t belong to her come November. If this was a state she needed she would have been on the boat with me. But that’s OK we got this we are strong here in Louisiana. Something you will never understand.

The true citizens of Louisiana

This is an open thread.

I’ve been mostly unplugged this week. My grandson arrived last Saturday without the charger for his laptop. It was easier to just put mine away, too. I let the kids have my Fire for watching Netflix. School starts next week so we enjoyed our last real summer time together for this year. We set up my telescope. Crash and I took a sewing machine out on the deck and made some clothes for her doll. Some of my friends had their grandkids visiting, too, so we had a swim party. A week later and nothing in the world has changed. I’d like the election to be over, but I don’t want to miss out on our beautiful New England autumn. The cool crisp mornings and evenings have begun surrounding our warm sunny days. I believe Trump will get most of the votes on election day. My only concern is how much cheating will be too much cheating for the people of this country to tolerate.

So, I’m looking at county job postings and they need 911 operators.
    Bad idea, right?

    • DeniseVB says:

I always thought being a 911 dispatcher would be a cool job until I met one. About 90% of the calls are from idiots and I decided I just couldn’t deal with that. My luck I’d have an audio transcript show up on the morning news with a lot of bleeps, but that’s just me. 😉

      Go for it !

    • mcnorman says:

It can be a good job, or it can send you tot the shrink for many script requests. You have a good head on your shoulders, you should be able to handle it. Worse, you will do very well and be promoted to watch over the bad apples in the department.

    • 49erDweet says:

Go for it! Exciting – and sometimes boring – job! Work on your voice and diction. Staying calm and making decisions while others are panicking is personally rewarding work.

    • lateblum says:

I’m writing this before I read (present tense) the responses because the moment I read (past tense) your question, I cringed – really cringed. As you know, I worked in psychiatry for 25+ years before retiring. During that time, I saw more than one 911 operator, and we saw one of those clients several times in the outpatient program where I worked. The stress and subsequent anxiety and panic these 911 operators reported was huge.
I know that working here, in Chicago and the metro area, they have to respond to some major, major situations. (They also have to respond to jokester and crank calls as well. And those are also stressful since they had to respond as if the call was a real emergency.) And in the end, some of those operators left their jobs and sought other work. Some stayed and used the stress mgt and anger mgt strategies and were able to remain relatively healthy. It’s like being in customer service for Comcast and AT&T, but on steroids. And we saw many Comcast and AT&T representatives r/t stress.
You may be able to handle high stress well. And if so, this may be right for you.
      Good luck!

      • 49erDweet says:

Yeah, if you’re the kind of person who takes on a personal responsibility for everything that goes wrong, then it’s a bad career field choice. If you know instinctively there are lots of idiots out there and you can only really help just a few, this is rewarding work.
I had a co-worker who “lived” every call as if it was her own situation. Cried and cried sometimes. And made bad decisions because of it. Another co-worker who had raised 5 rowdy kids and blossomed in the job, because she knew crap happens and you can’t protect people from it. She laughed a lot. It depends.

VM – just a thought….try the public schools for teacher aids and office assistants, maybe even library assistant! Here in Virginny you don’t even need a degree to be a substitute teacher !

Yet, amazingly, a caucus of lifelong Republican politicos in Washington are announcing to the world with defiance and self-righteousness that they will vote for Hillary Clinton.

They are mostly former Mitt Romney and George W. Bush operatives. They lost, and now they want people to believe that their anti-Trumpism is a principled act of heroism. They ingratiate themselves to The New York Times, Washington Post and team Clinton — the sworn enemies of free markets and conservative values.

Somehow this doesn’t offend their moral compass.

    • DeniseVB says:

It’s certainly why I’ll never call myself a Republican or a Democrat ever again. Both parties make me sick. Bless Trump’s heart for putting up with the bullsh*t from the GOPe, but he knows what’s at stake.

      Good riddance.

I remember ‘Monica’s War’ very well. The day before the bombing started I told my brother that it was going to happen. When he heard about it on the news, my liberal brother called me on the phone and asked me how I knew. Well, it wasn’t difficult to figure out. That’s how the Clintons operate.

They don’t actually have moral compasses capable of being offended.

the alt-right. I surf the net a lot and never picked up on this. just how much influence does it have?

    • DeniseVB says:

Look up Milo’s articles over at Breitbart, there’s a lot of background there. It’s more or less a reactionary group of his fans who react to SJW’s even more obnoxious as they are. Some are a little too crazy, but Milo doesn’t discourage them. Since his twitter ban, they’ve gotten even crazier. So no, not a big influence, but they seem to be driving the Dems Nucking Futz, which is a good thing 🙂

Nice little rant by Monica Crowley …. never been audited ? Was the IRS too busy going after the local tea parties ?

    • DeniseVB says:

I don’t think the schools are allowing any politically themed shirts at school? Just read an article that Black Lives Matter shirts are banned at one school. If BLM can’t get in the door, what hope is there for Trump? 😛

    That was epic.

  17. Myiq2xu™ says:

Hillary Clinton busted out an “old Mexican proverb” on Thursday to attack Donald Trump, recycling an attack that was used by Democrats to attack Republican Mitt Romney in 2012.

“There’s an old Mexican proverb that says ‘Tell me with whom you walk and I will tell you who you are,’” said Clinton during a speech in which she tried to tie Trump to racism. “We know who Trump is.” Her campaign tweeted the line out, too.

That proverb was used in an attempt to tie Romney to racists four years ago.

The phrase was the headline of a Huffington Post piece written by Arizona Rep. Ruben Gallego (D.), which began with the same line of attack.

“In Spanish, we say ‘Dime con quién andas y te diré quién eres’—’Tell me with whom you walk and I will tell you who you are,’” wrote Gallego along with Arizona state legislator Anna Tovar. “Mitt Romney walks today with the most anti-immigrant officials in America.”

The piece went on to make the same argument against Romney that Clinton made against Trump on Thursday.

“Romney, the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for president, is actively courting the most divisive and extreme advocates on one of the critical issues our next president will decide,” wrote Gallego and Tovar.

Has Neblett heard the words Trump has been called ? Worse yet, what his supporters are called?

      • lizzy says:

Someone better clue Toure that it is hard to suck meaning from words that are already meaningless. The Dems have done such a good job of race baiting already that such words have no meaning to most people, except the race baiters.

Trump campaign response to Hillary’s crazy rants:

Today proved to the American public what we have known all along – Hillary Clinton has no hope, no vision and no ideas for the future of our country. Clinton lied about her emails, she lied about Colin Powell, and today she lied about Donald Trump. Donald Trump is talking about issues; Hillary Clinton is talking about Donald Trump. Today, as she took a break from her Hillary-in-Hiding Tour, she missed another opportunity to talk about education, infrastructure, terrorism, healthcare, the economy and energy. We’re living in her head rent-free, and that must terrify the political insiders who want to keep things exactly the way they are. – Kellyanne Conway, Trump Campaign Manager

Update on the the big, 6 wks old fire near Carmel and Big Sur (Sobranes Fire). Still going strong! But the management of the fire was taken over this morning by a huge team from Alaska, so that mightt mean something! Apparently our California fire bosses are all tuckered out. And a great bit of the forest around and behind Big Sur has been scorched. Sad.

    • lateblum says:

I am so sorry to hear this, 49er. There has been nothing about the fire here on the Chicago news. I hope the Alaskan team can bring their energy to get this fire under control.

Just heard on FBN the State Dept will not release any more of her calendar until After The Election. I guess they figured if more than 50% of her calendar had been filled by CGF/CGI donors, they weren’t going to share any more. *sigh*
