Trump Earns Backing of Military Leaders

Shit Just Got Real

Source: NYT (of all places lol)

Donald J. Trump’s campaign will release an open letter on Tuesday from about 90 retired generals and military officials endorsing his presidential campaign, urging a “long overdue course correction in our national security posture.”

The letter in support of Mr. Trump, signed by 88 retired military figures, will come as the campaign prepares for a week focused on national security, with a forum hosted by NBC and MSNBC on Wednesday evening alongside Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee.

POLITICO also covered the story:

Donald Trump earned the endorsement of 88 retired generals and admirals in an open letter released Tuesday, as the Republican nominee looks to solidify support in the military community against Hillary Clinton in November.
The Republican nominee’s campaign unveiled the letter, organized by Major Gen. Sidney Shachnow, a 40-year Army veteran and Holocaust survivor, and Rear Admiral Charles Williams, ahead of a speech on veterans affairs in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Shachnow declared that Trump “has the temperament to commander-in-chief,”while Williams called the Republican nominee “more trusted” than Clinton.

Some of our “neighbors” will most likely go batshit over this, but I trudge on, always looking forward.

Here’s a pdf of the letter with signatures

The 2016 election affords the American people an urgently needed opportunity to make a long-overdue course correction in our national security posture and policy. As retired senior leaders of America’s military, we believe that such a change can only be made by someone who has not been deeply involved with, and substantially responsible for, the hollowing out of our military and the burgeoning threats facing our country around the world. For this reason, we support Donald Trump’s candidacy to be our next Commander-in-Chief.

For the past eight years, America’s armed forces have been subjected to a series of ill- considered and debilitating budget cuts, policy choices and combat operations that have left the superb men and women in uniform less capable of performing their vital missions in the future than we require them to be.

Simultaneously, enemies of this country have been emboldened, sensing weakness and irresolution in Washington and opportunities for aggression at our expense and that of other freedom-loving nations.

In our professional judgment, the combined effect is potentially extremely perilous. That is especially the case if our government persists in the practices that have brought us to this present pass.

For this reason, we support Donald Trump and his commitment to rebuild our military, to secure our borders, to defeat our Islamic supremacist adversaries and restore law and order domestically. We urge our fellow Americans to do the same.

Chances are there would be more names on that signature list, but the recently retired 0-7’s and above are usually young enough to grab a “double dipping” government job and probably not allowed to partake in political activism.

The Trump event will be just down the road from me and closed to the public 😦 So far, none of the local tea party or Gop groups have tried to rally a flash mob of supporters to welcome him.

    Wonderful news.

After her coughing fits, I wonder if Hillary will even appear at the forum tomorrow.

  3. DeniseVB says:

The media, HRC’s adoring fans and the reason we have lofo voters. Comments are funny, including a Larry David reference to coughing….lol !

Must read — especially for #NeverTrump (although I doubt they’re intellectually honest enough to understand/admit):

    Of course she did!

Meanwhile, our local Pravda is running an article from 1973, when Fred Trump had a property management company in Norfolk (VA). Seems two couples applied for an apt and they rented it to the white couple. The black couple sued for discrimination, blah, blah, blah, Fred never apologized! Something like that, nothing about credit checks?

I remember using an employment agency in the early 70’s thinking it would be an easy way to find a job when my dh left for his second VN tour (I was stressed enough!). They got me a job almost immediately… a secretary at a auto transmission repair shop. Only to find out a couple months later, the owner used that agency to only send him “white” girls to interview. I’m sure “property managers” were tuned into the same quals during that era.

Mark Dice, you’re a bad boy….and I love ya. (notice Tim Kaine in the background acting like a trained seal, why not take over the mic while Hillary works on her cough spasms? It’s not like this is the first time it’s happened, Team HRC should be quicker on their feet!)

So “On The Record”, will now become a #nevertrump show.

Interesting… been hearing murmurs and whispers that several anchors are planning to leave since Ailes’ departure. Word is that they’re thinking about starting a competitive network. Names include entire panel of the Five and Greta. Should be fun to see how this all shakes out. Hate commenting from phone so ttyl

    • kanaughty says:

Damn, i love greta because she truly is in the middle. More of a true journalist in how she presents herself. Way less biased than any of the current pundits. She had the best palin interview in alska from that election.

It would be humorous if this hadn’t happened to me the first time I went out to dinner 7 weeks after my surgery. I couldn’t stop coughing after something (don’t know what) “flew” into the back of my throat. I thought they were going to have to call for help. They couldn’t Heimlich me because of the incision down my back. To this day, I don’t know what really happened, but It was painful and embarrassing. (No, it wasn’t a hairball. lol )

So every time I hear/read/see a clip of HRC coughing like that, I don’t laugh – or even smile. I feel bad for her. And I wish she’d rescind her nomination.

      • votermom says:

I was getting coughing fits when I first got on my bp med. It seemed to strike when everyone is supposed to be quiet – like at a show, or movie, or church. I’d have to leave the room.
I seem to have adjusted to it now but I still carry ricola in my purse just in case.

        • lateblum says:

I’ve been on this bp med for decades. The cough seemed to go away just prior to, immediately following and during my rehab after my back surgery. Now that I’m better (but not entirely healed) it has returned in the mornings after I awaken. I hate it. The coughing I described when I was out to dinner with my brother, was really extraordinary. And hateful.

        • mothy67 says:

I cannot take bp meds. I could not walk up the stairs. I cut scrip into quarters and still exhausted. Think it was propanolol. Never again.

      • lyn says:

Sorry for the trigger. 😦 When Hillary starts coughing, she should leave the stage.

Would br great if she went to OAN Network.
    Wishful thinking.

    • Somebody says:

It would be great, but Greta may decide she’s ready to retire and enjoy life who knows.

      • mothy67 says:

What a great F you it would be.
Seems she had a “key man” clause that allowed her to exit when Ailes did. Wonder how many others have the same thing.

  14. mothy67 says:

Another reason to hate the media– watching Quantico on Netflix and they refer to Make America Great Again as the terrorists slogan. Turned it off.

  15. votermom says:

Trump promises to take better care of our military and its veterans .
Trump now has support of 88 Flag Officers.
Here’s how that piece of shit Obama thinks of our military and its veterans.
He has taken vacations costing taxpayers millions of $$$$ and now slaps these brave men and women.

    • lateblum says:

And he wouldn’t have done that if they weren’t afraid of this election.
Everything I’ve been reading lately (on the internet) is about Soros and his directive that HRC will win – no matter what. So if there is an overwhelming victory in the popular vote for Trump, there could be anarchy when the Electoral College gives the election to HRC. So they are gonna pull out the stops to get HRC the votes of the “people”. imo

      • CiscoKid says:

        That’s my greatest fear.
This isn’t another simple election, this is what may be the final struggle to keep our country free.
All stops are being pulled out to get HRC in the WH.

  22. Dora says:

But he has already given away the Internet. Isn’t that enough?

Obama: Internet Cannot Be like Wild, Wild West

President Barack Obama called for a series of international agreements to regulate activity on the Internet, citing his preference not to start an arms race in cyberspace.

“What we cannot do is have a situation in which suddenly this becomes the Wild, Wild West,” President Obama said during a press conference in China on Monday after the G-20 Summit, referring to every country using the Internet as they wished, including using it to hack into other countries’ data.

Any thoughts on early voting or mail in ballot?

    • lateblum says:

I “loved” that Moynihan was “praised” by the election judge for reporting the errors. As if that would really happen … Praised for reporting vote stealing. In Chicago, that would be the way they would identify republicans and then watch penalized ion via increased real estate taxes or IRs auditing, etc. I doubt anyone would report voter fraud around here IF they wanted to vote R. We keep our votes very close to the chest.

  27. Venus says:

The Era of Hope and Change has been one prolonged act of suicide.

If anyone had said that Obama would manage to alienate Israel and the Philippines, lose Turkey, pay Iran a hundred billion dollars, preside over the loss of a won war in Afghanistan, lose billions of dollars in military equipment to ISIS, watch a consulate burn, restart the Cold War with Russia, cause Japan to re-arm go the knife’s edge with China would you have believed it?

If someone had told you in 2008 millions of refugees would be heading for Europe and that the UK would leave the EU after Obama went there to campaign for them to remain would you not have laughed?

He promised “smart diplomacy” and the restoration of American prestige in the world.

How did it come to this?

    • CiscoKid says:

Obama was lying all the time, and still is.
His sole purpose was to destroy America or gravely wound it beyond hope of recovery.
I understand with clarity now, more so than before his words, ” fundemently change Americia “.
For all that you have noted, Obama is very close to succeeding .
Imo, only Trump can restore Americias prestige.
