Overnight Open Thread

I was watching Charlie Wilson’s War (starring Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts) and the movie makes Wilson out to be a big hero without ever mentioning that the people he helped became the Taliban.

Moral: Never trust Hollywood versions of history

I guess I should point out that most of our covert activities against the Soviets in A-stan took place during the Reagan administration. The Reagan White House was fully supportive of “Charlie Wilson’s War”. The end of Soviet occupation coincided with the collapse of the USSR – which came first, the chicken or the egg?

  1. If you remember the movie, the guy that CW met with in Pakistan in 1980 would have been this guy:

Not a very nice guy. He was still dictator when Obama went to Pock-ee-stan for his college summer vacation.

  2. 1539days says:

After the movie came out, they were trying to argue that Wilson was right about everything, but the US didn’t stay in the region to coddle the people there and educate them.

Of course, some of the worst terrorists have the best education in the world. Terrorist “masterminds” are egomaniacs who find mentally damaged people to kill themselves.

I just had a horrible deplorable thought about Hillary. And it isn’t even Tinfoil Tuesday yet.
Is this possibly what they are thinking?
The Despicocrats don’t have to worry about Hillary serving her time as POTUS, all they have to do is get her elected. As long as she gets elected, she gets what she wants[ her place in the herstory books as First Woman president, and they get the power of the Presidency.
Even if she can’t serve due to illness or death, the Dims still have power and that is all they want. Tim Caine can pick his VP, and be the Soros Puppet.
I shouldn’t stay up this late, I get weird ideas.

    • 1539days says:

I was thinking that for a while. Hillary may not even care if she doesn’t serve out a full term. Being the first woman elected will put her in the history books.

    • taw46 says:

I don’t think it is a weird idea. I think at this point all she wants is the win. She doesn’t seem to care about doing the job. And certainly doesn’t care about the American people, or she would never have entered the race, given her medical issues.

      • lateblum says:

Winning but not doing the job seems to be a character trait of recent Dem presidents. At least the current one. Hmmm, Maybe there really wasn’t such a difference between Hillz and bronco after all.

    • Constance says:

That isn’t a weird idea it is exactly the situation. But don’t forget the Democrat party has several factions and they don’t like each other much. There was always the Kennedy faction and the Clinton faction. Kennedy was near the end of his life in 2008 but he pushed Obama over Clinton. Now there is the Obama/young faction and the Clinton/older faction. I find Tim Kaine a really weird choice for VP so he must be a good soldier they can control. I actually find him scarier than Biden/Lieawatha, at least those two are such loose cannons I don’t think anyone could control them.

I’m thinking she is going to be known as the “pity” candidate. “Vote for me cause I’m dying.” I see where the media is going with this. Her life’s ambition, her hard work failing and screwing up ever upward in consequences, etc. Let’s make Hillary’s “Make A Wish” come true, sob! No. Fuck that. And I don’t feel sorry for her either because she had hidden her health mess and now it is all dribbling out at the worst possible time. And fuck the DNC for enabling her.

  5. Lulu says:

Scott Adams prediction in December: “Prediction: I’ll put the odds at 75% that we learn of an important Clinton health issue before the general election. That estimate is based on my own track record of guessing things about people without the benefit of knowing why. I think Trump is picking up the same vibe. He has already questioned Clinton’s “stamina.” http://blog.dilbert.com/post/150284922631/checking-my-predictions-about-clintons-health
I think Chelsea blabbed to her “friend” Ivanka about her mother being a mess. This was before Trump was running. Then “spies” have blabbed about her need for enormous medical intervention to keep dragging along. And Scott Adams is just a very observant person. Like me. LOL.

Just finished reading the last thread. pneumonia ? Oh please. If she was “diagnosed” last Friday, why was she at a yuuuuge fundraiser Friday night when she uttered her deplorable Deplorables comment? That clip’s been played over and over, she sure seemed fine then. If she was placed on antibiotics, they wouldn’t have kicked in that fast.

Also, doesn’t pneumonia require some sort of respiratory therapy ? Special Greg had open heart surgery when he was two and I was trained by the nurses how to administer preventative respiratory problems (like pneumonia) by gently whapping him up and down his back with the side of my hand so fluids wouldn’t accumulate in his lungs. I had to do that several times a day for weeks after he came home.

My other son and husband had pneumonia at one time in their lives, it was rest, rest, rest and lots of fluids as I recall. Can’t remember if it was viral or bacterial at the time. Their coughs were horrible and very “wet” and had to spit it out. Not at all like Hillys coughing attacks.

Yes, the Presidents’ family SS detail are very loyal and protective. The book I read by Ronald Kesseler certainly had some wild stories about their protectees 🙂 It’s why we need an honest media.

Media Hoax! Sick Hillary Clinton Does Not Have Pneumonia

After sick Hillary Clinton fainted or had a seizure today, the media went into overdrive with hoaxes. Based on a note from sick Hillary’s doctor, the media agreed to say she had pneumonia.

Those really are seriously ugly and funky looking sunglasses. I don’t know any older woman who would wear those hideous things without a medical reason. I wear Kate Spade tri-focal prescription (expensive! but I have to have to drive!) ones myself and they don’t look like shit. They look like something an old crazy man would wear.

    • DeniseVB says:

The comments at Cernovich’s link were interesting. It’s going to be a tinfoil WEEK ! Here’s one:

A question has come up as to whether that woman who came out of Chelsea’s place and photo-oped with the child was really Hillary. She may have been a body double. There’s a woman who looks very much like Hillary who has been used as her body double before. She’s almost Hillary’s spitting image, with only a few differences. One is the nose. Look at those photos with the girl, in them Hillary’s nose seems to have a different shape than usual.

      Best election ever!

      • Lulu says:

Her nose was possibly injured (swelling, broken, dislocated, etc) when she was heaved into the van face first. As for her looking smaller, slimmer, or whatever, that was a carefully planted photographer, videographer who just happened to be in front of Chelsea’s fancy apartment building to capture the joy of meeting the little girl when the media, nor anyone else knew where the hell she went after getting loaded like luggage into a van. Of course the hack photographer would have special lenses in place to make her look good with a little distortion which also made her nose look funny. And I’m sure she did feel better after a couple of bags of IV happy juice.

Exposed: FBI Director James Comey’s Clinton Foundation Connection

WASHINGTON, D.C. A review of FBI Director James Comey’s professional history and relationships shows that the Obama cabinet leader now under fire for his handling of the investigation of Hillary Clinton is deeply entrenched in the big-money cronyism culture of Washington, D.C. His personal and professional relationships all undisclosed as he announced the Bureau would not prosecute Clinton reinforce bipartisan concerns that he may have politicized the criminal probe.

He also values his life and his family. Arkancide is known to have hit a number of people who have or might have something on the Clinton mob that they could share. His relationship with thenClinton cooperative goes back to the Whitewater investigation and dismissal of charges.

Good morning TCHers and thank you Lord for a beautiful day.

    The cover up continues.

First, it was Allergies. END OF STORY!
Then it was heat. END OF STORY!
Then it was “I feel great!” END OF STORY!
Now it is pneumonia. END OF STORY!

It’s all bullshit. Paul Joseph Watson sums it up nicely here.

So prog logic right now is that because Hillary is sick, she’s strong, powerful, and in perfect health. Or something. Prog logic is complicated.

It’s time for another George Orwell story!

      • Lulu says:

Haha. Hillary was just running a drill to see if her Secret Service detail were up to the job. They CAN pick her up and sling her like deer carcass so they passed.

    • DeniseVB says:

As is their common core electoral math. Bernie wins state = Hillary gets more delegates !

    • Constance says:

I don’t even try to follow Prog thinking anymore. You have to really, really want to believe and belong to their special club. They are nuts and they have lost all sense of what passes the smell test.

Earlier this summer I noticed on a forum I visit every summer that the younger people started using a new slang word a lot. Put downs, smack talk, insults, bitching, trolling, attacks, rants, etc., which includes *in self defense* of course, are known as “dragging” or “dragged” or “drag” someone. (sure it’s from ‘dragged thru the mud’) “They are dragging him bad over on Twitter”, or “She dragged me for saying that last week”. They use it constantly. For them it wouldn’t be “Go get her!”, it would be “Go drag her!” (on social media).

So now every time I see these clips of Hillary actually being dragged into a van I can’t help laughing knowing their first instinct when they hear “Hillary got dragged” is that she got told off, in a van, or something.

I’m not a Ronald Reagan fan. I didn’t vote for him then and I wouldn’t vote for him now if he were still alive. And it’s certainly true that Operation Cyclone started during the Reagan Administration, but I think there was a long-standing conviction in the covert community that the key to destabilizing the Soviet Empire was to appeal to traditional religious values and national pride in the Soviet satellites. Afghanistan was the last act of that strategy, and it had consequences that weren’t appreciated at the time (because Afghanistan isn’t Poland and Islam isn’t Roman Catholicism). I don’t necessarily blame Reagan or his advisors for that. Most of the agencies were staffed with Soviet/Eastern European experts – I don’t think they fully appreciated what would happen if they launched the same sort of appeal in South Asia and the Middle East that they did in Eastern Europe.

They probably should have read more Rudyard Kipling.
