  1. I ran drove to the supermarket to get some Diet Pepsi. I was wearing my MAGA hat. The clerk shook my hand and said, “I voted for Trump too.”

    My day was officially made.

  2. California now has a Big Sister law that requires stores to charge customers $.10 a bag. The idea is to get people to use reusable bags.

The customers are not happy. Neither are the stores. It’s a clusterfuck.

    • DeniseVB says:

What happened to those “studies” claiming reusable eco-bags were harboring gross bacteria by drippy meats and leaky diary products?

    • Constance says:

We’ve had that in Seattle for a few years. The reusable bags get disgusting. Also some people never buy them and so my kids keep swiping mine. They are always laying around all over the house and car but I still can’t remember to carry them in the store.

    • Mt.Laurel says:

We have had it for several years in Montgomery county. I love how they make the store the scape goat for colleting their tax revenue at point of sale so they get to deal with unhappy customers.

I pay the stupid tax – and then load in the reusable to keep things like meat separate and to tote up the stairs. I only buy the kind that can be cleaned inside (lined for hot/cold). I also manage to avoid much of it by buying groceries outside the county and having this delivered.

      • I throw it all back in the cart and then empty the cart into the trunk. When I get home I have Ben’s shopping cart to unload the car.

        • Mt.Laurel says:

That does not work as well with a third floor walk up .However, for about a year after it went into effect here, the smaller sized shopping carts kept disappearing. They were indeed loaded into trunks – and if the police caught them – the fine was only $25 – a steal in more ways than one.

    • elliesmom says:

What do people with dogs use to pick up after them? I’d had to buy poop bags if I didn’t have plastic grocery bags. I usually pull a few extras out of the recycle bin at the transfer station because I need 7 of them every week, and I don’t buy enough groceries to get 7 bags unless I bag my groceries myself.

    • Jadzia says:

That was recently made the law here, too. It’s been customary for a really long time for grocery stores to charge (5 cents usually), but people were pissed that it became mandatory.

Also North Korea. Plus, NK has reduced the population because of their citizens resorting to cannibalism.

    • Jadzia says:

I think the best part of Castro’s death for me personally was that the rest of the world is finally beginning to recognize that Awesomesauce “Mr. Nepotism” Trudeau is nothing but an empty suit.

    • swanspirit says:

From the Iranian Conservatives on FB :

Trump won the popular vote in 31 states to her 19 and DC.
      62% to her 19%.
Trump led in the total popular vote for all states except California. Hillary won California 5,860,714 to Trump’s 3,151,821; 61.6% to 33.1% exclusive of the other candidates.
Thus California gave Hillary the popular vote for all states as claimed by the Democrats and their media stooges.
But deduct her California vote from her national vote leaving her with 54,978,783, and deduct Trump’s California vote from his national total, leaving him with 57,113,976, he wins in a landslide in the other 49 states, 51.3% to her 48.7%.
So, in effect, Hillary was elected president of California and Trump was elected president of the rest of the country by a substantial margin.

I love when they crunch the actual numbers.
      California can keep her.

It’s easy to make up statistics when any journalist actually allowed in Cuba has a group of minders dictating their movements.

    • DeniseVB says:

Dang, Cuba has tough immigration laws ….

      1) You have to make a deposit of 5,000 CUC in a Cuban bank as a guarantee.
      2) Officially married to a Cuban citizen.
      3) Pass a medical examination.
      4) Prove that you have a residence, normally the house of the “Cuban partner”.
      5) Prove that you have sufficient income to live in Cuba (e.g. Salary, pension, income from abroad.
Note: when you get a Cuban permanent residence you are subject to Cuban laws, you get a Cuban identity card (carnet), a libreta (ration book) are allowed to pay in CUP (peso national) BUT,… to leave the country you need to apply for a Cuban exit visa. You can negociate a long term rent of a “casa particular” starting from 650-700 cuc per month, don’t expect any luxury for this price.
In general Cuba is not a cheap country for foreigners. Your major problem will be your income. Forget it to find work in Cuba.
Even if you can find work on the island you are paid by the government according to Cuban standards, this means 400-600 Cup per month (10-25$). Before you jump be sure to have a decent income source from abroad. GOOD LUCK!

      -snip-

Note: criminal can be “activist”, drug trafficking, jinetero, meat smuggling, blackmarket etc etc. When the Cuban does not get a visa from the inviting country, he will not get the Cuban exit visa.

She’s saying Castro = rebel alliance island
      USA = Empire
I am not sure if that makes Trump Emperor Palpatine

    • 49erDweet says:

Bonkers. Stark raving bonkers. She thinks Cubans wanted justice? They wanted freedom. Boat trips = freedom. Ella es un imbécil.

    • Mt.Laurel says:

      Dear Jill,
On your way to your idea of the perfect haven for your idiotic and warped view of justice such as Cuba or Venezuela, please use the southern border as your exit route and remember to leave any ID/proof of your US citizenship at the wall. Sign the paperwork renouncing your citizenship along with any claims to SS, Medicare or other benefits as you will not be needing it in the future. Also provide all you bank account/financial information as attempting to take your ill gotten gains out of the country would be inadvisable. The coal loving peons are pissed.

PS: You might want to stock up on TP for the trip. And perhaps some of the yummy MRE meals. And remember those greenie glasses distort reality – so be prepared for an uncomfortable lifestyle. Your are a bit too old to catch the eye of any dictators that might help you to a softer landing.

Got my new fire tablet today. So fast compared to my old one!

    • Jadzia says:

VM–I am reconsidering the Fire purchase based on some reviews I’m reading online. But there’s so much hidden product placement that frankly I don’t trust most reviews. My biggest concern is that supposedly the Fire restricts you to Fire apps, so it’s not like having an Android tablet where you can pretty much get anything? Also, can you confirm or not confirm that you can play Flash games on a Fire? Headventureland (the kids’ game website that is tied to this Latin curriculum that I like) STILL USES FLASH and when I wrote to them to politely ask when they might, um, enter into the 21st century with the rest of us, they told me that they didn’t have any plans to make their games compatible with the iPad’s OS or any other OS that doesn’t work with Flash. Thanks!

      • mothy67 says:

I just tried headventureland on my kindle “plugin not supported”
        I have the 10″ kindle.

      • votermom says:

Yes, it’s true no Flash on many mobile devices including the Fire. I think it’s because Adobe stopped supporting Flash on mobile.

Amazon also does try to keep you in the Amazon store which is a subset of the Android marketplace. I think there is a way to sideload apps from Google play etc but I have never done it — too lazy.

Where are they? 1968? Dos be ugly curtains.

      • DeniseVB says:

Maybe they cut up one of Michelle’s “designer” dresses ? Goodness knows there’s enough fabric 😉

        • mothy67 says:

It looks like a church hall or a VFW. That is not Jr’s dining room. There is a roll of paper towels on the table. Love the lack of pretense. We do paper plates and eat in front of tv. Also for some reason there is always cool whip at holidays. Only holidays. Whipping cream is not hard to make.
