We’re Saved!

Michelle Obama

This year just keeps getting better and better.

President Obama: ‘Michelle will never run for office’

President Obama says both he and first lady Michelle Obama will be “very active” in working with people at the grass-roots level to support progressive causes once he leaves office. But despite her popularity and natural public speaking ability, Michelle isn’t interested in a career in politics.

“Michelle will never run for office,” the president told Rolling Stone in an interview conducted the day after the election. “She is as talented a person as I know. You can see the incredible resonance she has with the American people. But I joke that she’s too sensible to want to be in politics.”

Obama says that after he hands the keys to the White House to President-elect Donald Trump, he plans to “sleep for a couple weeks” and take Michelle “on a well-deserved vacation.”

Is Barry still smoking choom? I’m sure the next few years will be fairly lucrative as Obama travels the world giving speeches for big money. But once he is out of power the attention and love will start to wane. The only retired POTUS who managed to maintain a high public profile while making lots of money was Bill Clinton, and that probably had a lot to do with the fact that Hillary was a Senator, the Secretary of State and a presidential candidate. Now that she’s been forcibly retired they have no influence left to sell.

Retired politicians are like retired athletes. Their glory days are over, but some fans will still remember them with nostalgia.

As for Michelle’s “popularity and natural public speaking ability” and her “incredible resonance”, I put that up there with her keen fashion sense and natural beauty.

He apparently had more than one family, then, and favored another over buckeyes.

    • jennifer lyn says:

Fire this idiot. #NOW. This man and his family lived free in the USA on our money as ‘refugees from Somalia.” Send his family back #NOW. HOW f..king dare these people come here, take our free stuff, our money and then talk about being persecuted. And for the record I DO NOT SUPPORT ANY RELIGION that persecutes and sheets women, rapes children, and was founded by a big ole asshole child rapist. Sorry #F>>KTHISSHIT. I heard Merkel is sending back 10,000 ‘refugees’ #NOW. Laughing except Obama will probably take them in. Why would you post something that includes a big announcement not to share? If it’s such a secret, keep it to yourself!

As a fan of First Ladies, Michelle has been the worst FLOTUS of the worrrrld. Can’t wait for her to run for President *snork*

    • lateblum says:

What is the best book you’ve read on the FLOTUSes? I know you’ve read many.

      • DeniseVB says:

I’ve really enjoyed all the ones I’ve read til now, but Barbara Bush and Nancy Reagan were the most fun. 😉

        • lateblum says:

Thanks. I thought you had mentioned one book about all the FLOTUS(es) together. I must’ve dreamed it. I’ll look in the library later today. 💕

Meanwhile in the Peoples Republic of Charlottesville, here’s a bit on our Vice Mayer:

Charlottesville City Councilor Wes Bellamy is facing calls to be removed from his job and other public positions he holds after a local author’s blog featured tweets attributed to Bellamy that some consider racist and misogynistic.

The tweets show Bellamy claiming that he hates black people who “act white” or “talk white,” and considers white women to be the “devil.”

…Other tweets published on the blog post written by author Jason Kessler show Bellamy, 30, saying that women often lie about the amount of men they have sex with and that he hates “seeing White people in Orangeburg,” the South Carolina community where he attended college.

    He seems nice.

    • lateblum says:

      I’d vote for him.

    • DandyTIger says:

      Update today:

Wes Bellamy, the Charlottesville city councilor and vice mayor under fire for comments that have been deemed by some as racist and deplorable, has been placed on administrative leave from his teaching position at Albemarle High School.

On Tuesday, Kate Acuff, chairwoman of the Albemarle County School Board, announced that Bellamy had agreed to go on administrative leave pending an investigation by the school division into a variety of tweets from 2009 to 2014 that have called into question whether Bellamy is fit to teach children or serve in public office.

“We appreciate the concerns of those who have contacted our school division regarding social media postings that have been attributed to Mr. Wes Bellamy, a teacher at Albemarle High School,” the statement from Acuff said.

“Many of these postings contain extremely vulgar and offensive language that directly contradicts the values of our school division. The School Board rejects these statements in their entirety.”

On Tuesday afternoon, Brian Coy, a spokesman for Gov. Terry McAuliffe, said the governor is “horrified” by the reported tweets, adding that he has reached out to Bellamy. He said the governor is still waiting to hear back from Bellamy.

      • lateblum says:

What is this “reached out to” nonsense??? My DD#1 uses that term when talking about business contacts and colleagues. . . It sounds just soo touchy-feely to me. What ever happened to “tried to contact”?

      • Jadzia says:

Jesus Christ, this guy was a teacher? SMH.

    Still Winning!

    • lyn says:

I’m tired of winning, and Trump isn’t in the White House. It shows what people could do for our country if they stopped hating each other.

    • Venus says:

I just came to post same news:

      This is simply great news!!!
If Trump can do this before he is inaugurated, think of all he can accomplish afterward. #MAGA

IOW, 1000 jobs are going to Mexico.

      • Glass is half empty kinda guy, aren’t you? But 1,000 Indianapolis families can have a better Christmas, and a more secure new year. That ain’t chump change. That’s change you can bank on.

        • 1539days says:

I’ve seen this Carrier stuff before. In this case, they are trying to save billion of dollars in contracts with the government. Most likely, they will do something similar to Remington. Over the next few years, they will lay off people a handful at a time until everyone is out of a job.

          • Lulu says:

There may be an element of government contracts in their decision but large multinationals are going to have to decide if they are US companies or not. If they are not they might as well get the fuck out completely and sell their shit to the rest of the world if they will have it. .

I think it was the German Board of Industry that did a study that shows that goods and services of companies produced in country are preferred by consumers. It is not that the consumers are “racist” or “anti-trade”. The goods and services produced are made to the standards and preferences of that market. Multi-nationals would like to monopolize and force consumers to use goods and services based on ONE standard for the world which is cheaper and usually inferior in some way (design, quality, poor work standards or pollution created making the goods) and gives them a bigger profit. Germans buy German, French buy French, Italians buy Italian, and the US buys US if everything is not off-shored. The same goes for services. The off-shoring and now H1B replacements in IT is to force consumers to accept inferior and cheaper to produces services (but the charge to the consumer or business to business is the same) because the alternatives are taken away creating a monopoly of inferior goods or services.

If Carrier were building a plant to provide Mexico and/or Latin American with air conditioners well bully for them. But they are not. They are trying to create a forced market of shit Mexican goods with no alternative in the US. This ups their profit margin and drives down quality. Arguments are made that China etc produce quality goods for a world market. The German Board of Industry would agree but it is a forced market with little to no differences or variations in goods or services (and doing away with cultural, societal, or economic variations) and all of it is due to the globalism drive for everything to be the same all over the world because it is cheaper with bigger profit margins and kills innovation so monopolies don’t have to compete.

          • Lulu says:

Also the legal systems in the countries of the off-shored companies are garbage. Multi-nationals like shit court systems because they can’t be sued for producing junk. They like that a lot. A little bribe solves their problems. But the down side is (and it hasn’t been apparent lately much except in Venezuela) is that political upheaval, revolutions, and drug cartel government will take their property away from them with the wave of a gun. The they are left with nothing. All of those Mexican plants building crap are going to be targets when the period of even greater instability hits Mexico with all of their criminals, moochers, and Dreamers start heading home when the gravy train starts spluttering in the US. It is going to be tough tits as there will be no law enforcement, tax or court protection for them. Oil, mining, diamond companies know this as it happens a lot. Fat and happy manufacturers from the US are going to be shocked at what they will lose. They will expect US standards of protection and won’t get it even with the bribes they have paid.

          • Jadzia says:

People also naturally want to support their neighbors, friends, family. Both my brother-in-law and his wife are engineers at Peugeot. Guess what kind of car everybody in the family has?

      • Anthony says:

😆Sounds like it really drives you nuts when he succeeds lmao. You might be in for a really rough 4/8 years. Have you considered Lexapro?

Still worried about duplicity with this recount. What became ofvthe protests?

Unrelated– watched Ab Fab The Movie. I’d wait for Netflix. Just okay.

  8. We differ in opinion on this one. I took “never” to mean “in 2020.” If 2016 taught us anything, it’s that knifing Hillary Clinton is still an effective campaign strategy. What better way to drive in the blade than Michelle running and winning* with Hillary’s 50 year old idea and against her preferred opportunity candidate?

I almost feel sorry for Hillary. Almost.

*Not saying she would win, but right now she’s the Democrat with the best chance.

    • swanspirit says:

Ordinarily, if Moochelle were even a tiny bit normal, I would agree with you about being ambitious. But I just don’t see her getting up off her couch polisher to run for office.

  10. votermom says:

    A comment on AoSHQ:

It is time we stopped letting the left scam us. The Democrats are in the process of deleting themselves from History by replacing themselves with generic “White People”.

It is Democrats who owned slaves.
It is Democrats who sent Indians on the Trail of Tears.
It is Democrats who created the Klan.
It is Democrats who lynched blacks, Mexicans, and Indians.
It is Democrats who had Jim Crow laws.
It is Democrats who put Japanese Americans into camps.
It is Democrats who fought for segregation.
It is Democrats who opposed the civil rights laws.

It wasn’t generic “White People” who did all of that, and we need to point that out loudly and often. Republicans have been too polite to mention any of that for far too long. Time to tell it like it is.

    • DandyTIger says:

Usually people will shift the terms to be “conservatives” vs. “progressives”. At the time, so they tell us, Dems were the “conservatives” that did these evil things and Repubs were the “progressives” that were opposed to these evil things. At some point the parties shifted so the Dems were the “progressives” and the Repubs were the “conservatives”. It’s a nice story. A nice narrative. Lets them off the hook. But as with most things in life, there’s more to the story.

    • Constance says:

Well also it was Rich Whites not the white trash and the Rich Whites enslaved anyone they could exploit. My relatives from Scotland were indentured for longer than life expectancy and shipped here against their will. Native Americans were used as slaves also. And there has never been slavery on the west coast. So I’m damn sick of being lumped in with a bunch of Rich Whites who wouldn’t associate with my family in slave times or now. Don’t retro-actively assign Rich White sins to me.

      • lateblum says:

My ancestors were the peasants in Poland and Russia and Romania. And they escaped to come to the US in the early 1900’s. Every time I see/hear The ascribing of all those negatives to me, I get pretty damned mad, too. And, No. The Rich Whites didn’t associate with my grandparents either. In fact in Poland, Russia and Romania they killed most of my ancestors.

tl (or “too french)/dr version: posters have appeared in Paris announcing that Sarkozy, who lost the primary, is running in the general election anyway, “for the good of France”. I don’t usually mind him (except for his shockingly stupid plan for higher education, which is so bad that I ended up not voting), but this has Bad Idea written all over it.

    • Does he still have that hot wife?

      • Jadzia says:

Surprisingly, yes. Reflecting on this post, I was actually thinking how happy I am to have NO IDEA what the other candidates’ wives look like/do for a living/think about anything. Inexplicably, nobody seems to be able to compete with Hollande in the womanizing category.

    • Lulu says:

The plan of the Repubs is to bum rush the Dems on Sessions. It is going to be quick, efficient, and BEFORE the inauguration. Schumer knows it and Coon’s knows it and there is nothing they can do. Jefferson Beauregard has his memo’s and suggested de-Obama-izing executive orders already written. Sen Coon’s looks like he is going to throw up. Cause and effect you idiot. Dirty Hairy was your leader and set it all up for President Trump and Sessions. You laughed at, denigrated, and ignored Sen Sessions for 20 years and now he is going to be Mr. Enforcement. LOL.

      • taw46 says:

{{Swoon}} I can’t wait, lol. Senator Sessions is my favorite Cabinet pick. The idiot progs, they really thought they were set for life, that they would be in power forever.

And I am sick and tired of the Dem members of Congress in every interview throwing in “Hillary had more votes”. They keep trying to stir up shit with the idiots.

  15. Lulu says:

Why is the media and public officials at OSU and the “refugee” handling feds still floating the myth that stabby, car murderer ISIS terrorist (and nice, sweet child) guy is 18? He went to a Somali-friendly junior college for two years, was going bald, was kind of fat and paunchy like an old guy, and was very advanced at Muslim whining for prayer rooms paid for by taxpayers. Welp. He came in 2014 with a passel of siblings, his mom but no dad. From Pakistan. Did they walk from Somalia to Pakistan? I don’t think so. So he claimed to be 15 or 16 (even though he was balding) in 2014. So he couldn’t work or support himself and of course his mother couldn’t either with a small, tiny child like him to take care of. So the government, both feds and dumbasses in Kasich’s state government, and media must maintain that a ISIS jihadi was 18 rather than being closer to 30. If they admit that this fat, bald, whiny, very crummy knife fighter and poor driver is not 18 but much older that they are ripping off taxpayers to support a bunch of moochers and frauds that are let in to the US not just to murder us but to rob us blind before they do. He was described by his victims as looking crazed. Did the refugee interviewers notice he was old and crazy when he was entering the US as a child? I’d like to see that report. And fire the asshole who wrote it.

Using out of their ass theories of young academics looking for a second income stream as the basis for disrupting the electoral college after a national election does not fool judges. Waiting three weeks didn’t help either.

Did you kiss the ring Mitt? Was it poisoned? Is it a big skull ring Mitt? Or maybe Thor’s hammer? Which one of your sons is the hostage? Do you have any pride?

    • Lulu says:

Is that his next shtick? How much will he make off of it and will it come close to what he could have made with The Obama Foundation before wikileaks blew up the Clinton pay to play fraud NGO scheme? I can see him agitating for legalized choom if there is any money to be made. But it is quite a come down from International Healer of Nations to Primary Pot Dealer.
