  1. The Raiders are playing the KC Chiefs tonight. Don’t expect to see me until about noon tomorrow.

    • DeniseVB says:

Ok, it’s “noon tomorrow on the east coast 😛 I haven’t checked the TCH barn, so I’m available to throw up a quickie. Will be around finishing up some online shopping anyhow.

    Going to miss these rallies.

      “Republican racism”
Well that’s certainly not fake news is it Hillary?
      CNN, humbug.

    • Anthony says:

Interesting that for almost 8 years, he’s been blaming Bush for his ineptitude. Now he’s going back to his original option: EVERYBODY IS RACIST!!!!!

      • lateblum says:

Yeah. It’s been an “interesting” 8 years. I’ve been ready for the purge since May, 2008. That’s when fam and friends “found out” I was racist. At least that’s what they said then. Now I’m simply deplorable.

    • John Denney says:

The “Affordable Care Act” increased demand while stifling supply, so I opposed it based on The Law of Supply and Demand, which dictates that with those premises, costs would rise, which turned out to be true.
      Apparently, common sense is racist.

Why is Hillary still wearing purple?

    • taw46 says:

“The Purple Revolution” brought to you by Soros.

    • Anthony says:

I noticed that too. Also, a lot of the men’s ties (Schemer, Reid in his official portrait, etc). My Dad worked in marketing/advertising for a large corporation, and had to do this sort of thing all the time.

This is typically part of a slow rollout for re-branding. Start with a phrase (MAGA is a good example), an image or logo, signature music (those 3 notes that everyone associates with a business, like the NBC chimes), or associating a specific color or colors (think Kodak red and yellow) with a specific brand that, after time, is subconsciously associated with a product or movement (in this case, a particular shade of purple being not so subtly used by Progressives).

I’d guess that rather than look inward and see where they fucked up, the Dems/Progressives are going full speed ahead with their socialist/globalist agenda and re-branding themselves by using that color, which is a fusion of red and blue, and will most likely be (fake news) assurance that the Progs are inclusive and accepting of disgruntled members of both parties. Problem is nobody’s buying it because everybody world wide has rejected their ideals.

I prefer to see it as classic mourning colors for the dead Progressive faction of the (formerly) Democratic party.

      • taw46 says:

The crybaby snowflakes are just idiots. But those behind the scenes are true Marxists, and they will never, ever, ever give up. Like you said, rebranding their image, but the evil remains.

      • Lulu says:

Hillary and her whiny-butt posse need to STFU and get out of the way. She is sounding like an ex-wife who can’t get over it. MOVE ON Hill. This is why the majority of voters in a majority of states voted for someone else. You lost TWICE for a reason.

    • Dora says:

I like so many of his films, but I think my favorite is Town Without Pity where he plays a lawyer defending four American soldiers who raped a girl in Germany. It’s a terrific movie. The story is intense and the acting is excellent.

Oh yeah – I also loved him in Young Man With A Horn. Can’t forget that one. I believe it was his first.

    • Venus says:

Rumor is he raped Natalie Wood when she was a young girl — she later turned down a role in The Devil’s Disciple because she didn’t want to work with him.

      • Dora says:

I never heard that, but it could be true. I know he used to brag about ‘having’ just about every famous woman in Hollywood.

His son Michael, who is following in his footsteps, describes himself as having a sex addiction. I guess that goes for Papa Douglas too.

I have to put those facts aside when I watch their movies. They are not themselves on the screen; they are the characters they play.

  16. Dora says:

    He’s holding her up. Yikes!

  17. elliesmom says:

Yesterday I was standing in line to get some fabric cut. The line was long and slow, and the ladies got chatty. I wouldn’t want to be accused of profiling, but one of the women appeared to be Hispanic. Her coloring and accent would suggest that, but maybe she’s Canadian. The conversation was about sewing and getting ready for Christmas. Out of the blue the maybe Hispanic lady said she was sure we were all terrified of what would happen after Trump takes office. The woman directly behind me said, “On the contrary, January 20th can’t come soon enough for me.”

There was a lot of laughter as everyone in the line proudly agreed with her. Then the maybe Hispanic lady said we didn’t understand the danger people like her are in. She has no idea whether she’s going to be deported. How can she enjoy the holidays with all the uncertainty? A woman in the line very quietly and very politely responded, “You could go back to where you came from and celebrate the holidays with the family and friends you left behind. While you’re there, find yourself a job and a place to live. You know you won’t be deported from there. Then you won’t have any more uncertainty in your life than any of the rest of us in this line have.”

The conversation went back to sewing.

    • Anthony says:

Yep. New Sheriff in town, and even people on the Upper West Side are excited about the prospects. Noticed last night that many of the storefronts on Columbus Ave that have been vacant for as long as 3 years are now rented and sprucing up for business, all with paper on the windows and “YUGE” signs announcing Grand Opening dates of “early 2017”. I guess they’re waiting until after the inauguration…

      • DeniseVB says:

My son is thrilled his new boss will be Gen.Kelly. He’s been dealing with the b.s. bureaucracy pencil necks in DC who he thinks have never been in an airport much less tell him “how” he should be doing his job. When he shut down a concourse because the bomb dogs “hit” on a box (turned out to be Vietnamese ‘spices’) he gets a call …. you know that really upset the pilots, did you really have to close it down….? This was on the same day as the Brussels airport bombing. Obama’s people.

tucker takes on Texas elector who says he won’t vote trump.
this is guy is republican. It must be nice to be the smartest guy in the room. Any time someone tells me how moral they are, I get really suspicious. How many people in Texas agonized over their vote and decided that Trump was more acceptable than Hillary and this guy says the hell with what you think, I won’t vote for him

    • Anthony says:

I saw that last night, and must admit that Tucker Carlson now poses a clear and imminent threat to Jeopardy….

The Texas “elector” is clearly a Never-Trumper or a disgruntled Cruz supporter. For all we know, he just may be one of our own at TCH…. 😀 😀 😀

      • foxyladi14 says:

LOL We had a few of them. 😀

        • helenk3 says:

I was one of them. I did not decide until the last minute that trump was more acceptable the hillary. There were a lot of people like me. I will say this, so far with his cabinet picks I have a better feeling that he will change things for the better. I do not expect miracles but it does look like the same old, same old will not happen with him in 1600 Pennsylvania ave.

          • Anthony says:

Helen, I wasn’t referring to you. You’ve always managed to voice your opinion in a way that wasn’t offensive to anyone. I’ve told you in the past, and I’ll tell you again: You have my utmost respect for having the courage to come forward and not disparage anyone else. Others are not so congenial

          • helenk3 says:

I did not take it the wrong way. My comment was meant to convey that there were a lot people like me and this guy is basically telling to go to hell I will do what I want. That makes me angry. Voting in a important thing to me and I am sure it is just as important to other people. If he did not wish to follow the voter’s wishes in his state, he should not have taken the job.

Here at TCH all voices are welcome, different points of view are worthy of being listened to and talked about. I really admire that.

          • Anthony says:

Sorry Helen – Now that I’m looking at this on a screen bigger than my phone, I see you were responding to Foxy. Thought you replied to my comment. But I DO have enormous respect for your dissent and the way you shared your point of view.

Most here are indeed admirable in the way they discuss different points of view than their own

Beckel had that enduring grouchy old uncle thing going. Funny that Juan was fired from NPR for saying something like people dressed in muslim attire made him nervous in airports.

“Annouced candidacy on an escalator ride”. How many candidates own a fucking escalator? Most of them have to “borrow” a public building that we the taxpayers own. Trump owns his own public space, his own stage so to speak and didn’t have to impose on the citizen taxpayer to even announce. Then he wisely used his own money, was cheap and very smart in how he used it, used social media for FREE!, and made himself totally available to the MSM who could not help themselves in upping their ratings and dominating the public conversation. The rest of them, both Repubs and Dems did not out-hussle or out-maneuver him. Dems like old what’s his name still can’t admit it.

  24. DeniseVB says:

    • Lulu says:

Anything non-Islamic is to be detroyed. I’m surprised they haven’t done it already. The fanatic Ottomans shot up the Spinx and Parthenon (they tried to blow up the entire Acropolis too but failed) over a hundred years ago. Islamic armies have been like this forever. This is not new.

      • Somebody says:

Yes that’s just what they do. I told my husband the other day that I think in my lifetime we may large parts of Europe destroyed. That’s something I would have laughed at 10 years ago, but with the surge of migrants I think it’s entirely possible.

        • DeniseVB says:

Didn’t Russia warn us in the 50’s we will be destroyed from within ? I can see that now, helluva job Obama.

        • John Denney says:

In my younger days I was skeptical of passages in the Bible about Christians in the end times being beheaded for their faith by the one world government. Yeah, right. Beheadings went out after the French revolution; nobody does that anymore, I thought.

the democratic party that I knew is dead. It should be called the progressive party now. It has shifted so far to the left and it has become a place where people who willing to see the other side of things are considered threats and must be destroyed. Lenin, Stalin would be so proud

  30. SHV says:

‘the democratic party that I knew is dead. It should be called the progressive party’
Liberalism is dead…Safe spaces, speech codes, hate speech, group think, crush the individual, etc., etc. isn’t Liberal, is “progressive”=dictatorship of the self appointed “creative” class and the settled science of Eugenics.

does anyone think that the lawsuit against Penny’s, Kohls, Sears and one other store is coming at a weird time?. Right in the middle of the Christmas shopping, when stores make their most profit. I do not know if it is a good lawsuit or not, just the timing is off somehow.

      • helenk3 says:

the government is bringing a lawsuit about the sale pricing these companies advertise. example saying a blouse is on sale for $30 down from $45 when the blouse can be found for $30 elsewhere or was never priced at $45.
I am just questioning the timing of the lawsuit

        • Mt.Laurel says:

Every major retailer has done this for years. One of my many jobs in a regional department store chain while in grad school was merchandise tracking. Every week I would have to review the lists of every item sold by the chain and call each store to get an updated inventory. Sale circulars would then be marked for each store noting how many they had on hand as well as indicating if they were below the desired minimum and needed to transfer in/out of another store. Most of the work I did first by hand and then entered into the computer. Now it would all be handled by computers.

Each price for each store can give you the history of an item. Each retailer has it own code. For instance a 95 at the end of the sale price indicated short term sale that would then be change back to 00. 93 was for merchandises that had been returned, 94 was for a one time only – say after a local sports team was playing in the super bowl, 96 was for specialty/seasonal items and when cleared out say after Christmas would then have a 97 at the end. 98 at the end indicated store brand bought in to go on sale within 30 days. 99 was final clearance across the board and so on. The annual anniversary sale had all special pricing numbers that ended in 80-89.

You used to see all of these various numbers because the tickets were hand down. The original price would be crossed out and the new price added. They went first from red to hard to find colored pens and then to stickers because people were changing prices themselves.

Some merchandise is simply considered to be a loss leader. Price it lower from the get go to get buyers in the door. It also varies by market. In some areas certain items that sell well at full retail are not marked down until later in the season in some stores but in others are marked down almost immediately. Also – the same item may be considered a store brand at a slightly higher end with special tags in the garment (e.g. Lord and Taylor) and a name brand at Macy’s with say a difference in finish and color selection. And there have always been items brought in to fill out sales circulars.

I notice that this “in” shops are not mentioned. Many of these are far far worse. Old Navy, Esprit, American Eagle, J Crew, H & M, Forever 21. . .

This indeed it interesting timing. Most retailers live and die by the November to December business.

          • DeniseVB says:

I’ve always thought it was brilliant marketing at outlet malls and stores like TJ Max. Say a tag with MRSP $100 Our Price 35.00. Sale Price 15.00. WOW. SAVINGS !!! My favorite place in the Worrrrld to shop is at Sawgrass Mills in south Florida. Ok, maybe Canal St in NYC, preferably when they’re not being raided 😀

        • votermom says:

I looked it up and while the Marines have an official store on zazzle and I am allowed to use some Marine logos on certain items, they do not allow fan merch apparel. So I guess the answer is no 😦

But if you see anything on the zazzle Marines store you like starting off with link might (or might not) still get me a referral fee (I’m not sure)

From there you can browse their other stuff if you click where it says “Designed by U.S.Marines” (upper right)

By the way the zazzle rules for USMC fan merch is here, including which slogans are allowed, if you want something I can make that fits their rules I could do it
It does say unit insignia is allowed so I think I can make something with the “Swift Silent Deadly” insignia but just not on apparel.

    • Somebody says:

Is it wrong for me to secretly hope for a shutdown? A) Because it’ll be funny if the dems do it and interesting to see how the media spins it compared to the “Cruz shutdown”. It will also be interesting to see how Obama handles it with regard to barrycades and what not with the shoe on the other foot.

      B) The real reason is because it means my husband will have no choice but to be home, ahem. Shutdowns impact contractors too and they’re the first to close up shop because they’re non-essential. Hubby’s supposed part time job is full time or has been since the week after I started watching the grandkids……hmmmm no coincidence there. “No, no honey, that’s not it at all……they really, really need me, I’m the only one that can do X, Y and Z”…..Oh sure and how much is the fucking bridge this week? The other guys work a couple of days a week, but not my husband. He’s had a handful of days off, but only when I begged him because I had doctor appointments or our daughter had appointment and/or testing……he didn’t even take off for all of those, not that I’m bitter about it or anything, LOL!

Sooooo it would be nice if he was forced to stay home, then he could help me get everything ready for Christmas…..or better yet I’ll leave the kids with him and go shopping! #winning
