With a whack, whack here and a whack, whack there . . .

I am feeling cautiously optimistic.

Donald Trump is ready to take an ax to government spending.

Staffers for the Trump transition team have been meeting with career staff at the White House ahead of Friday’s presidential inauguration to outline their plans for shrinking the federal bureaucracy, The Hill has learned.

The changes they propose are dramatic.

The departments of Commerce and Energy would see major reductions in funding, with programs under their jurisdiction either being eliminated or transferred to other agencies. The departments of Transportation, Justice and State would see significant cuts and program eliminations.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting would be privatized, while the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities would be eliminated entirely.

Overall, the blueprint being used by Trump’s team would reduce federal spending by $10.5 trillion over 10 years.

The proposed cuts hew closely to a blueprint published last year by the conservative Heritage Foundation, a think tank that has helped staff the Trump transition.

Similar proposals have in the past won support from Republicans in the House and Senate, who believe they have an opportunity to truly tackle spending after years of warnings about the rising debt.

If they don’t make deep cuts right away, it won’t happen. When Reagan tried to reduce the size of government he quickly discovered that every government employee and every government program was absolutely vital and essential. Of course Reagan was dealing with a Democrat-controlled Congress.

Expect the media to portray any cuts that get made as cruel, heartless and racist/sexist/homophobic.

Oh, my. What a dramatic entrance. A salute to Lincoln. Big – yuge – smiles from Donald and Melania. I admit I was teary-eyed. It really is happening.

    • Dora says:

      That was great!

    • mothy67 says:

He does have a great smile. I wondered during the campaign why hills didn’t augment her smile. She has normal colored/shaped teeth for her age, but they spent soooo much time talking about her smile Bill’s also looked discolored. A bright smile radiates good health. All those consultants no one said drudge is gonna post closeups?

OMG ! It’s The Piano Guys!!!
I ❤ them. I just walked away to answer the door, and when I returned they were performing.
I'm going to buy another CD of theirs, just to say thank you!

  11. Somebody says:

Glad 3 doors down got to perform, they did great! They’re Trump fans, southern boys, not afraid of the snowflakes on twitter…..probably more because of their tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. I liked them back in the day, had a couple of their CD’s. When I learned of their patriotism over at TCTH I decided to buy their new CD. I hope I like it!

Ivanka reminds me of Emily/Amanda on the first season of Revenge the way she rocks a dress. She was born for it. No pretense. Nothing overly done. Classic I guess is the word.

I love this robbie drums guy. But that’s what trump does, make people not known, well known. So who cares if a list celebs aren’t there.

    Love it.

i’m praying for safety for the good peeps and a complete fiasco for the pussy hat wearing idgits with about 10 people total showing up for day after. Hey, God answered my prayers for Trump so why not go for a few more. I have been yelling and crying all day. We are living in dangerous times but we have real hope with Trump and the millions behind him. And thank GOD for this blog I read it about 10 times a day even though I don’t post all the time. I truly love you all and appreciate the intelligence, open exchange of ideas, and the god given common sense that rules this site. And for the record I don’t care who doesn’t support Trump because if you look at the list it is idgits, racists, trouble makers, and assholes. OF COURSE they don’t support Trump 🙂

  19. Okay y’all. The_Donald subreddit is seriously in need of some help right now. Just trust me on this. Log in ( or create an account if you don’t have one) and upvote the post in this tweet. Then share the tweet.

  20. Propertius says:

The numbers don’t add up. Here are the FY 2017 budget requests for the Departments named by The Hill (in billions):

    Energy: 32.5
    Transportation: 98.1
    State: 50.1
    Justice: 29.0
    Commerce: 9.73
    CPB: 0.46
    NEA: 0.15
    NEH: 0.15

That’s a total of $220.19 billion per year (or 2.2 trillion over 10). And that’s if you close every embassy. stopped issuing passports, shutdown the FBI and ended all federal crime prosecution, shut down all of DOE (including the nuclear weapons programs), stopped building roads altogether, and (of course) completely eliminated the budget noise that is CPB, NEA, and NEH. Over 10 years, that leaves him more than $8 trillion short.

The only way to cut that much from the budget is to go after Defense. The life cycle cost of a single F35 is estimated at $618 million – which is only a hair less than the combined annual budgets of CPB, NEA, and NEH.

    • kanaughty says:

Yeah, i hope the new accountants can find the deep corruption going on and get rid of it. No excuses for this not adding up except corruption.

    • Somebody says:

Seems there are some agencies missing from your list. He’s said he is going to cut defense. He’s going to renegotiate contracts and stop paying for systems the military doesn’t want. Thanks to stupid contracts and politics we still purchase really old technology tanks that are worthless to our military. Then we give them away. I think those kinds of things he intends to put a stop to. Why don’t we wait and see how his first budget looks.

      did Barron skip the concert?

      • Venus says:

i think so. i saw he got off the plane earlier, so he’s there. maybe mom doesn’t want him in night air.

        • lateblum says:

Maybe he cant tolerate the noise from fireworks. My son couldn’t handle fireworks’ noise until he was older. We couldn’t see a fireworks display up close until he was a teen. The noise from the fireworks at the concert had to be painful.

  22. mothy67 says:

Melania did look less than enchanted. Barron was absent. Maybe her momma bear spirit is pissed off at the likes of cnn and rosie o’donut. No way in hell I would take any risk with a child.
Media really needs a slap down. blitzer was close to yelling fire in a theater with last nights piece.

That being said the Trump clan is empirically striking. The campaign pic with the kids and The Vampire Diaries logo superimposed was funny. Hey Zeus the way the women walk in those heels. Confident. Controlled. And what gams!!

    • taw46 says:

I think Melania is reserved. But she did have a big smile on her face when they walked down the steps.

Even back when I wore high heels, I think I would be wobbly on those slippery steps. They never hesitated!

    • votermom says:

I wonder if Barron is feeling ok.

      • mothy67 says:

It must be so much. He’s very young. Imagine being Melania. I would go full on Rick from Walking Dead on Rosie’s throat. That disgusting puke has the maturity level of a toddler. He must have so much pressure and the sow not only elected to belittle a child but she also defamed the children that do have autism. It is a condition and there should be no shame. He wording was meant to belittle. Pray for the kids she adopted.
Another instance of how prescient President Trump is. He called her out before the rest of America saw her mask slip. She is not Miss Nice. I know first hand I have waited on her.

Looks like America has invaded DC

    • taw46 says:

Is she going to hang around staring through the gate?

    • mothy67 says:

The urge to curse a blue streak after reading that pooh is a testament to my honesty. I will need an acronym for every time one of the turds reappears after tomorrow. The string they invoke is too long. I need to abridge my gutter mouth. MFCSSSCSoBBDA.

  25. As usual, it’s all about them.

  26. lateblum says:

This is just one of many reasons why Trump was elected:

  29. mothy67 says:

I think everyone should go to snowflake bars and play Toby Keith on the jukeboxes. I tended bar in Manhattan and owned one. Red Solo Cup, I Love this Bar will get regular people tapping and singing. I have seen it on UWS and coal towns. Everyone without a vagina hat finds it fun.
Seriously Toby Keith must make so much money from those two songs from digital jukes. Try boycotting how many times those songs are played everyday. They don’t get old. Redneck Woman is a big one as well.
