Well, I tried to watch the PDB, and same shit, phone call to Russia and about keeping oil from ISIS.
I gave it 10 minutes, then I grabbed a beer and stopped listening.

  2. 49erDweet says:

Love that the AP was demoted.

    • DeniseVB says:

Luntz is such a pansy boy. Our hotel had a mix of pink and trump hats and there was never trouble. It’s about ME and Drama Queen Luntz is what’s wrong with our media. Obviously, it looks like Marriott was unaware of the problem.

  3. Somebody says:

I disagree with POTUS Trump on the blanket federal hiring freeze. We actually need more border and ICE agents, especially if we’really going to actually enforce our laws. We also have a shortage of food inspectors and critically low staffing at certain air traffic facilities.

Maybe he’ll exempt some of those positions on a case by case basis in the future. He had said repeatedly he was going to implement a freeze except for public safety and military, but ended up only exempting military from what I’ve seen.

    • CiscoKid says:

I think we already have those people in place, but they weren’t allowed to do their jobs, so they just did busy work.
      Example. Border Patrol.

      • CiscoKid says:

        I should have noted.
I think what Trump is doing mimics a military daily report. From Division down to company level and especially service wide, how many men and women do we have ready to get in the mix?
No desk jockeys, office pukes, but how many are actually doing the job?

      • Somebody says:

Well I can assure you at certain facilities we don’t have enough ATC’s in place and it takes years to train them. There are large numbers eligible to retire or being forced to retire. ATC’s are forced out when they turn 56. Waivers can be granted, but haven’t been. Maybe waivers are part of the plan?

I heard Spicer’s press conference where he said the administration wanted the freeze to assess each agency, figure out duplication of positions to try and be a good steward of tax payer money. I’m cool with that. I could help prepare a list of FAA employees on “special assignment” in DC that could be sent back to their facilities to work. Truth is most of them would retire rather than go back to working traffic and that would be fine by me! To be fair every agency has a glut of people bumping into each other in DC and I’m all for sending them back to where they came from. They get to DC and never leave.

    • taw46 says:

I don’t know the whole story, the reasons why. I read somewhere that it is to stop those hundreds, maybe thousands, of last minute hires by the Obama administration.

      • Lulu says:

Yep. They rushed through their paperwork but Obama-ites wanted a vacay first before date of service begins. Thus not on duty when freeze starts so no start date thus allowing review of hiring which can be reversed. Ha! You are only hired fully until you show up for work and sign the paperwork and are sworn in. He appears to have f’ed ’em.

        • Lulu says:

To be hired they are going to have to prove to be most qualified, had the best hiring interview, etc. I read that all of them were “hired” non-competitively which is basically illegal except for political appointee positions.

    • DeniseVB says:

I thought I heard it wouldn’t apply to national security positions, like the military? ATC’s would certainly be included in that group 😉

So much deadwood in the federal agencies that we don’t need to be funding. Cut each agency’s budget and let them weed out the non-essential personnel. The swamp may be self draining too with so many saying they’ll quit rather work under Trump.

      • Somebody says:

Gotta be careful with blanket cuts. The assholes at the top will cut rank and file hours to keep their party going. That happened with sequester, the upper echelon didn’t feel it, the rank and file did and because of that so did the public. Better to direct cuts.

      • NBD says:

It’s long since time to put some resources into automated Air Traffic Control. Computers are vastly better than humans in tasks of that sort. I will welcome our machine Air Traffic Overlords.

        • Somebody says:

You’re behind the times NBD, automation is already in full swing. There are some elements that function better via automation, but the human element is a long way from being eliminated, there are simply too many variables.

      • lyn says:

I read that military was exempt from the freeze.

    • lateblum says:

I believe the word deplorable doesn’t mean quite what HRC and her “tolerant” supporters think it means.

    • taw46 says:

And the media doesn’t report on these incidents, these attacks.

      • DeniseVB says:

I was surprised they allowed “protesters” line up at the Inaugrual checkpoint I was at, shoving, yelling, pushing F**k this and that signs in our faces, many families and young kids. In my day, we were never allowed within 50 yards of whatever venue and cause we were bitching about.

        • taw46 says:

I was surprised as well, almost as if it were planned to not let people in for the inauguration. Same for the Deploraball. Since this group had made public for weeks that they planned to disrupt the event, why even let them get near? This was not a peaceful protest, but publicly stated intent to cause mayhem.

    • NBD says:

This is what the opening phase of a civil war looks like.

      • DeniseVB says:

I know, read the Battle Cry of Freedom (James McPherson) a few years ago about the events leading up to the first Civil War, and it wasn’t just about slavery. Whew, glad I’m on the side with the guns 😉

      • 49erDweet says:

That’s an important comment. It needs to be discussed. They seem to be deliberately beginning the Second Civil War, and we need to make that point REPEATEDLY.

Hah! Just came over to post this good news.. 👍👍👍

    • DeniseVB says:

Rich is a professional “comedy” writer, why would she think attacking a 10 year old is funny? SNL has enough problems with their definition of funny every week for 90 minutes. It’s painful to watch. Lorne needs to start scouting small stand up clubs again and hire new writers.

      • lateblum says:

She would think that whatever she wrote against Trump and his family would be okay with NBC. And if there hadn’t been so much outrage demonstrated against her tweet, she might have gotten away with it. imho

        • DeniseVB says:

I never liked when the righties would refer to Sasha and Malia as Sausage and Malaria. The only reason I learned to despise Michelle, was that the media kept telling me she was the most awesomesauce FLOTUS EVAH! But MO’s behavior and excess proved otherwise.

          • Somebody says:

I didn’t like those nicknames either and quite frankly I got tired of seeing people over at MOTUS use them. I agree with you 100% on MO’s behavior and the fawning media. The only criticism I had of the girls had to do more with the parents indulging excesses with some of their over the top trips.

          • Mt.Laurel says:

They also kept harping that the girls are not the O’s and that the O’s bought them which I find off putting. Now it has been erased for the most part but when he was first running it was widely noted that the girls were invitro babies – and I have said before I always thought it would have served MO far better as a platform as First Lady. Malia’s facial expressions mimic BO’s. Sasha looks like MO but softer version and she smiles more naturally and it makes her look quite pretty. And yes, it is the excessive expensive perks and vacays at tax payer expense while putting down the average Joe and appeared to be in place of actual family interaction that annoys to the extreme.

          • DeniseVB says:

Malia is her dad, Sasha is so Gramma Robinson. Having raised teens, the girls always looked bored, I recognized that look. “I’d rather be anywhere else”.

          • Island Girl says:

Where are those beautiful girls today? Looks like the parents have gone partying?

“Indefinite suspension” = about 3 days, or a nice break from work.

    • swanspirit says:

Why suspended indefinitely? Why not just fired!

    • DeniseVB says:

I saw some vile fems attacking Tay for putting her career before her country or something by not attending the Women’s March. Other than Madonna and Ashley Judd, were there any other “names” that showed up? Lena would have been quite at home in a giant vagina suit.

      • lateblum says:

Scarlet Johanssen, Gloria Steinem, some singer whose name I recognized Janel (maybe) Something or other, Charlize Theron, these are the names I recognized sort of. Frankly, I was more interested in the US Figure Skating championships this weekend. So that’s what I watched.

        • DeniseVB says:

They didn’t seem to make the media loop, only the disgusting Madonna and Judd speeches. So, I’m thinking, maybe they had something of substance to say ?

Smart girl for choosing Figure Skating 🙂

      • Mt.Laurel says:

Cher was around someone – maybe the LA group. I recall seeing pictures with comments about her looking like a wax figure and I have to admit they had a point. And for some reason Helen what’s her name from England. The author of Harry Potter sent her support and Trump hate via foul tweets.

      • lateblum says:

Just saw a still shot and Amy Schumer was there as well. But of course she was. I’m surprised Tina Fey wasn’t right up there as well.

Riddle me this: Obama ’09 got all his picks through congress within a week, of course, with a Dem majority. Trump has a GOP majority, WTF am I not getting? Oh well, yay T-Rex ! Such torture though.

  12. Somebody says:

I finally saw details on the federal hiring freeze. It excludes positions for national security, public safety and the military. The media was misleading earlier, shocking I know. So I rescind my criticism, I fully agree with this freeze……not that my opinion matters to the administration, LOL! I just wanted to correct the record and to mention I’m not tired of winning!

  13. AFVet says:

Obama was at it right down to the last minute before the Trump inauguration.

He THINKS fewer people watched because CNN’s ratings have collapsed. Millions and millions watched but not on the networks like CNN, NBC, etc to avoid the nasty and frowny faces and constant cutaway shots to “protesters”. The dogs won’t eat the dog food. They have propagandised themselves out of an audience and ratings and ad dollars and relevance.

    http://thefederalist.com/2017/01/23/donald-trump-first-president-turn-postmodernism/

Enter the right-wing postmodern antihero. Unlike just about every other presidential candidate who ran on the Republican ticket, Trump grasps our postmodern culture intuitively, and put it to use with devastating effect.

If our opponents are going to accuse us of being evil-minded bigots, regardless of what we say or think, then what’s the point in bothering to convince them otherwise? Let’s play by their own rules of relativism and subjectivity, dismiss their baseless accusations, and hammer them mercilessly where it hurts them the most: their hypocrisy. After all, if there is no virtue greater than authenticity, and no vice worse then phoniness, then the purveyors of contrived PC outrage are distinctively vulnerable.

Protesting an accusation from the Left that you’re not a racist, sexist, etc. on its own terms is a recipe for failure. Recall what happened to Romney when he desperately tried to demonstrate otherwise with his “binders full of women.” Trump offered an alternative: rather than make a fact-based, reason-driven argument, let’s neutralize the charge by denying its very premises, and in so doing, deny the power of the accuser to render any judgment in the first place.

    • Lulu says:

Yep. And add the Honey Badger exemplar that befuddles and stultifies: Honey Badger don’t give a shit. An electoral plurality of the country just told the the rest to shut the fuck up and President Honey Badger is acting on it
