March For Life Open Thread

Because I just got this in email from my Virginia Democrats “pals”.  We’re DOOMED, send money.

Today, thousands of right-wingers are gathering in Washington, D.C. to march against women’s health and rights. Every major Republican candidate for Virginia governor supports restricting a woman’s right to choose: Ed Gillespie, Frank Wagner, Corey Stewart. Each more extreme than the last, and each one attending today’s right-wing “March for Life.”

Tell GOP gubernatorial candidates: Virginia women and Democrats will never support your attempt to curtail our health choices.

With Trump and Pence in the White House, Virginians must be extra-vigilant about attacks on women’s rights. Just days ago, Trump signed a sweeping order to prohibit recipients of U.S. foreign aid from even talking about abortion as an option, denying millions of women around the world information about a potentially life-saving procedure.

Now Virginia Republicans want to bring the same types of draconian policies here. Ed Gillespie has even said he would sign a 20 week abortion ban into law!

We won’t let them. If the nationwide Women’s Marches showed us anything, it’s that together, we can take a make a BIG IMPACT.

Add your name: Tell Ed Gillespie, Frank Wagner, and Corey Stewart that we won’t stand for their attacks on women’s reproductive rights.

Thank you,

Jamie Maniscalco
Finance Director

To tell you the truth, I never paid much attention to the Marchers for Lifers the past 43 years. But after last weekend’s despicable “other” women marching, I decided to tune in and pay attention. One is definitely not like the other.

Oh now the cameras are at the Monument, where me and several thousand others were hidden from the Trump Inauguration “head count”. LOL.

  3. elliesmom says:

One of my young snowflake friends posted a rant this morning about these people had “copied” feminists and thrown together a march to get attention. No, dear, your side “threw together” a march. This group has been doing it every year for over 40 years. Like since before you were born.

    • 49erDweet says:

And who knows? That may be the reason you WERE born?

    • Mt.Laurel says:

I notice this because I have lived here for 30 years and the March for Life comes regardless rain/sleet/snow/gloom of night/president. I swear this the reason they did not cancel the Hillary march and turned it into a huge pussy fit was so they could say they marched for women’s rights first and pretend the March for Life was in response to their crap. They knew this group would be in town today as the date if fixed at least a year in advance (they never come on weekends since its easier for congress critters to hide since they are not in session). Because sharia law and partying like it’s the 6th century is the new orange for the 21st century. They forgot a few points such as if you are raped you don’t have to worry about the abortion option. They will just stone you.

For those who do not want to contribute to WSJ.

Todd Gaziano on Wednesday stepped into a meeting of free-market
attorneys, think tankers and Republican congressional staff to unveil a
big idea. By the time he stepped out, he had reset Washington’s
      regulatory battle lines.

These days Mr. Gaziano is a senior fellow in constitutional law at the Pacific Legal Foundation. But in 1996 he was counsel to then-Republican Rep. David McIntosh. He was intimately involved in drafting and passing a bill Mr. McIntosh
sponsored: the Congressional Review Act. No one knows the law better.

Everyone right now is talking about the CRA, which gives Congress the ability,
with simple majorities, to overrule regulations from the executive
branch. Republicans are eager to use the law, and House Majority Leader
Kevin McCarthy this week unveiled the first five Obama rules that his
      chamber intends to nix.

The accepted wisdom in Washington is that
the CRA can be used only against new regulations, those finalized in
the past 60 legislative days. That gets Republicans back to June, teeing
up 180 rules or so for override. Included are biggies like the Interior
Department’s “streams” rule, the Labor Department’s overtime-pay rule,
and the Environmental Protection Agency’s methane rule.

But what Mr. Gaziano told Republicans on Wednesday was that the CRA grants them
far greater powers, including the extraordinary ability to overrule
regulations even back to the start of the Obama administration. The CRA
also would allow the GOP to dismantle these regulations quickly, and to
ensure those rules can’t come back, even under a future Democratic
      president. No kidding. …

When did it become okay to abandon children? My sister in laws sister has walked away from her son. He is ten. His mom had a black baby. Baby daddy is in jail. Her now ex is raising someone elses kid alone. He is great. Cares about his son. Tough. We are doing Wednesday and Friday game nights. Saturday movie nights. He will be connected. He is my kin AJ will not be a stat. he will be loved and he will be tethered to life.

    • Somebody says:

More and more women of the millenial generation are abandoning their children. The rate is still nowhere near the rate of fathers that abandon their kids, but a mother abandoning her children used to be almost unheard of……no more.

They’re called walk away moms. That doesn’t seem to have the same bite as dead beat dad to me.

    • votermom says:

I can’t understand parents abandoning kids.

    • elliesmom says:

It became more OK when we gave mothers permission to kill their kids. You would think the number of mothers abandoning their kids would have gone down when abortion became legal, but it didn’t. I’m only guessing, but when we severed the moral obligation a woman had to give birth to a child she conceived, we also damaged the moral obligation she had to make sure her children were cared for. Giving a child up for adoption is now denigrated, too. Why have the child and give it away to someone who desperately wants it when you can abort it? The bond between mother and child used to be sacred.

  24. CiscoKid says:

Yes of course, President Trump is supposed to renege or abandon his campaign promises like a good RINO, Democrat or like a politician.

  25. Why We March

*Mumble mumble* years ago, a young woman found her life shattered. She had fallen for a man who turned out to be a cad.

He left her alone and pregnant, to return to a wife and kids that she had known nothing about. Scared and humiliated, she traveled to Texas.

There she gave birth to a son. The nurse handed her the baby, and then realized that this was an adoption case and took him away.

Sobbing, she thought “He’s going to a better life. He’s going to people who will love and care for him, as I can’t”

    And I did.

But she was wrong. She may not have been able to care for me, but I never for a moment believed that she didn’t love me.

35 years later we met again, for the first time, and I told her that. And that’s why I have 2 moms.

This is what #MarchForLife means to me.

National Geographic was a great resource for teachers for a long time. They had great lesson plans that went with both their print articles and video. It’s too bad they’ve lost sight of their mission.

      • mcnorman says:

    • Lulu says:

There is a huge amount of money to be made providing services to “refugees” and migrants. The “costs” are enormously inflated. This “study group” that this guy heads is the think tank/lobbyists for these tax “farming” do-gooders. They do good mostly for themselves. They could do these “services” in safe zones or third countries like Jordan but they won’t make much money as they are supervised by Jordan.

      • taw46 says:

I never knew what was going on until I found Ann Corcoran’s site several years ago. She was just an average citizen who wanted to know why all of a sudden they had refugees in their town. I have tried to explain this to people I know, they don’t believe it. Because Obama and MSNBC never told them this, so it can’t be true.

        • Lulu says:

When they (Trump administration) cuts off the money it will stop. The “religious” groups doing this stuff have nothing or almost nothing to do with churches. They give the churches a little kickback for using their name and let the churches “virtue signal” a little bit. A local congregation dug into this when they found a bunch of gang bangers and hooligans parked in their fellowship hall eyeing the teenage girls, found out the pastor was getting a little something-something in kickback, fired “her” the pastor, and then caused a big stink with the synod or whatever they call it. They brought them in from the border, got paid a bunch of money, then unloaded them on local welfare offices. So not so much charitable works. It is a grift.

          • taw46 says:

Yes, it is. And I love that Ann Corcoran exposes that. As she said, I hope Trump knows just how bad it is, I think Sessions does.

The narco state of Mexico is having a nervous breakdown. After eight years of a drug user (possible dealer in early years) from the drug industry dominated city of Chicago enabling the cartels, and preceded before that with eight years of a ex-Texas governor who didn’t see anything objectionable with turning Texas into the main distribution vehicle for cartels via the proposed NAFTA highway system, they are now trying to comprehend what is in a teetotaler’s mind who is already a multi-billionaire. Carlos (Let me sell you a drug dealer burner phone) Slim is offering to try to bamboozle Trump for the drug cartels. President Trump needs to remind Carlos that Obama bought nine trillion rounds of ammo for fed agencies to use. Not against cartels of course but now it is Trump’s ammo to use anyway he wants.

And all this talk of Trump believing in torture (it works!) is to scare the bejesus out of criminal aliens, cartels, terrorists, Mexican politicians, etc because there is no telling what that MF’er might do. Of course the media bit and spread the news far and wide just like he wanted.

We come together. I got on the horn. Fridays will be Christmas. No one is letting this kid rot. He does matter. Alexis is 17, jimmy is 24 they can’t wait. My dad is doing well but how much will he love seeing his kids share life. AJ is not pity. He just needs a hand to hold on to. We are giving him 50. School sucks they bombard kids with gender fluidity but take no notice when a student starts failing. Shay got one C in reading. Its all Time Magazine bullshit. One question asked how she “felt”. Teacher marked her response wrong. No no no no no. My brat is valid so are her thoughts. I will end you if you assume you can dictate her thoughts. We got 10 years. I believe in her.
