I just feel so fortunate I don’t have to worry about health insurance since my kids are fully covered in their jobs and we have military tricare with medicare picking up the co-pays.

I really haven’t been paying attention to the details, but the Dems who are all doing the end zone happy dance are all exempt from Obamacare anyhow. Media won’t cover that, aholes.

I have Medicare/supplement. I am lucky I was able to retire, as the insurance premiums had started to increase my last year. And the coverage had started to suck (it was excellent prior to that). My cousin worked 25 yrs as a nurse in a hospital, they also had excellent coverage. She retired about 4 yrs ago, now those employees have an $8000 deductible. I am sure their monthly premiums are also outrageous. Media never covers this.

I had Boeing retirement insurance through my ex-husband for the last 6 years. That was $30. a month for the full policy that Boeing gives it’s workers with a $10. copay for office visits and prescriptions. That would have gone up to $300. once Medicare kicked in. Now I’m covered through work.

        • taw46 says:

I pay around $300 a month for Medicare, supplement, and prescription coverage. Plus I have a yearly deductible. Can’t believe the number of people who think Medicare is free.

          • lateblum says:

Sounds like we have similar insurance. I am grateful to have been able to retire and that my retiree insurance coupled with Medicare is affordable – at least for now. Yesterday Illinois legislature decided to “look at” pensions. I hope I am safe, but won’t know until the information is available. And yes, most people think I don’t have any cost. They are wrong. My deductible also increased by hundreds of dollars this year. But I know I am lucky to have what I have. Also, I earned it.

        • Constance says:

I checked on the COBRA cost when my divorce finalized last month and it would have been $947 a month! So I will be happy with $300. a month when I can get Medicare next summer.

Don’t get too comfy. There are issues with Medicare but not as bad as the Medicare Advantage plans. I can tell you that you have two eyes. If you need those lids lifted as many elderly do, Medicare counts both eyes as one unit. They only pay the surgeons for one side only. During the last 8 years, I have seen something really odd occurring now…you will pay for the other side or they will only do one side at a time. Same goes for any used to be common bilateral surgery. Now, this is not to say that there are reasons for doing one only at a time. Cataract surgery is a perfect example. It must be done this way just in case something goes wrong with that eye…you won’t end up blind in both. What hasn’t changed is the time inbetween surgery for both eyes. In order for that surgeon to be paid for the second surgery, they must operate on the second after the 90 day global which is free care for that first surgery. No one should be under the impression that this is a safe zone. We paid into the system, but by no means is it not under constant reworking to save money (imho in order to pilfer from the trust). Medicare Tricare for Life is a good combo.

    Democrats, sigh. They deserve this…..

I don’t really know how I would have behaved under similar circumstances, so I won’t condemn him. It’s true though, that McCain’s political career was based on his reputation as a war hero.

The recording is here if anyone is interested.

Fake war hero: John McCain’s ‘Tokyo Rose’ recording

Son of a U.S. admiral, Senator John McCain (R-Arizona), 80, made his entire political career based on his reputation as a Vietnam war hero, incarcerated in a North Vietnamese prison camp for 5½ years until he was released on March 14, 1973. For that, McCain was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, and other commendations.

But there have been whispers and outright assertions by U.S. military veterans that McCain had sold out to the Viet Cong, ratted on his fellow inmates, and received preferential treatment.

  3. DeniseVB says:

We sure hear about all the bad stuff these “immigrants” and “refugees” do, how come we never hear anything good? Hmmm? Ya’ know, just one “illegal immigrants save elderly couple from house fire” would be nice.

  4. AFVet says:

I don’t know if anyone has posted this here yet but it brings a different perspective to the fore when you consider what just happened with the AHCA.
Your prior thread concerned this but I am too lazy to read down through it right now.

    Politicians are just salesmen.

  5. DeniseVB says:

What fresh hell is this ? It just sounds so democRATTY.

Has anyone heard from lyn? Did she say she was going away? It seems like days since I last saw anything from her….

    • lyn says:

😀 I’ve been lurking. (I was going to e-mail you today.)

Started a root canal yesterday and took home a box of Krispy Kremes (it was customer appreciation day at the dentist’s.) I ate three and froze the rest. The closest KK is 169 miles in Chico, CA. Life is good.

      • taw46 says:

I love, love KK. One place I worked in Atlanta, sometimes our manager would stop and buy us a couple of boxes of fresh, hot doughnuts. Mmm, so good.

      • swanspirit says:

Anyone that can say started a root canal and life is good in the same paragraph has my admiration.!!!

        • lyn says:

😉 There was no infection, and the root was hollow. Nothing bad showed up on any X-ray over these past four months. After the first procedure, I have no pain in that tooth stub, and I’m not on pain meds. I am taking Amoxicillin for a week.

A bad crown was put on in November. There was a small open margin at its base that let bacteria in. That dentist refunded my money, because he wouldn’t make a new crown. My new dentist took that crown off a month ago and cleaned up the margin and put on a temporary crown with sedative cement to calm the nerve. I was hoping that would work, but it didn’t.

I bet the dental office really appreciates the customers who eat Krispy Kreme.

    Another exit? I hope so.

The last time I was in Ireland was 2010. At that time there were new roads being built through the beautiful countryside that nobody there seemed to want. The biggest shock to me was learning that the Irish are no longer permitted to grow their own potatoes, but have to get them from Poland. Polish potatoes in Ireland! Isn’t that crazy?

I hope that this report is true. I want more than anything to see Ireland exit the EU before the country and its culture is totally ruined.

‘They SHAFTED us!’ Ireland will punish Brussels with shock EU exit, says Dublin think tank

THE EUROPEAN Union “shafted” Ireland and will pay the price with a shock ‘Irexit’, a think tank has warned.

Co-founder Keith Redmond said the country had been “quarantined” and forced to take on “toxic banking debt”.

Mr Redmond, who is also a councillor on the Fingal County Council, told other factors, such as a growing loss of sovereignty, could lead to an Irish EU exit.

Credit cards are scary. I set up an annuity years ago and am debt free except brat’s phone which is a whopping 28 a month. I got an offer 14 months 0% with a 5500 limit. The learning center offered an interest free loan but you had to agree to a schedule. My dork is not impaired. She needs a band aid not surgery. I can pay the 45/hour 9 times a month but it would put a serious cramp in my sloth.. I was under water years ago. I was doing cash advance to make minimum payments. I cashed in 401 in 1996. Not a card since. Oops. I started with one now I have to buy a bigger wallet. They just keep sending me offers. I am impulsive.50 grand in unsecured debt is not healthy. Ten years the only thing I can recall buying was a new suit for my brother’s wedding and socks maybe sneakers. I have made sure twerp got the best I could provide. I gave up NYC because there was no one else for her. Learning Center says she is fine. I have 6 years until college why not fly to Vegas by myself.

Last night I was waiting for crud at tae kwon do. I have known this woman for 3 months. She is a retired nursing instructor from Duquesne University(Catholic school in Pittsburgh). We got into politics on inauguration day. She has an adult child that twice a week she meets at tae kwon do. Mr Kim’s is a special place. I am cantankerous person and as dear old mom reminds me a son of a bitch. I’m always ready to bat heads. This place gives me guilt. Creepy everyone seems adjusted.
Anyhow pussy hat momma and I segued to politics on inauguration day. I said I wasn’t picking her up because I had scheduled a stomach pumping. I suffered eight years I was hell bent on alcohol poisoning.
We chat. She is a life long democrat. She thinks republicans are evil. Grabbing pussy really offended her. I asked why. It was a private conversation. Have you never been crude?
Her beliefs are very similar to mine. I got her to admit to not liking hillary. Here’s the kicker. She retired but still teaches CNA (certified nursing assistant) classes at a community college. She told me she was given instructions to pass refugees that scored as low as 20%. She dedicated her life to nursing and now feels like a pawn. One of my brother’s is a boilermaker. He makes 100 an hour when there is work. It took him 15 years to get there. He had to take hundreds of classes. They have waived requirements for illegals. Steve no be happy. I don’t really get what a boilermaker does. And I went to Purdue. They make boils? Seems silly. Anyhow they do yuuuge jobs. I guess the work can involve jeopardy. He gets flown around the country for jobs. 15 years it took him to get there he had to pass certifications. Years and years. In the name of diversity they have waived requirements. My bro is not happy he says it doubles his work and puts people in danger. Lex, his daughter, has 4.5 GPA. She could not be in honor society unless she did volunteer work. My family you get a job at 16. She can’t there is no time. Mandatory charity work. I pitch in but its like she is being punished for excelling. It’s fucked up. I had an outhouse. My parents done good. We thrive. We had a shower only the toilet was outside. I would wear clothes in shower. Lather up and then iron. Wait iron again. I was crisp. There was no pity. We got through it all. What lessons are learned from welfare? We struggled but got there.

I love this week’s message. President Trump remains so optimistic.

    • DeniseVB says:

He does inspire with his messages, unlike President Crankypants Obama used to message us with his weekly God Damn America spew. 😉

I hope Barry comes back from the islands soon.

    • DeniseVB says:

Nobody in the media is curious as to why he’s there w/o family for a month? Though I did see a blurb that French Polynesia has no extradition agreement with the US 😉

He did spend in a year in Bali for his first book and blew through his advance producing nothing. So I don’t think he’s there writing a book.

  14. Dora says:

This morning on Fox & Friends Judge Jeanine said there would be new details coming out about the wiretap on her show.

Pres. Trump seems to want us to watch it.

I am beyond lost when it comes to feminism. What does it even mean? I see blind rage. I’m a fag with a kid. I want the best for her. I don’t wake up and see her gender. I see an annoying crud. I am more protective I assume because she is a girl. I don’t know for sure as I never raised a boy. Turd is just my buddy. I would give everything I have my heart my home( sounds like a 70’s song it is ) I am walking talking singer songwriter from the 70,’s. Cliche to extreme. I still cry At Seventeen. Carly Simon is a babe and don’t get me started on Carol King. I took out a protection from abuse against myself after Tapestry. Not really but that would have been funny.

  16. mothy67 says:

I really am stuck in the 70’s. Those songs. Cat Stevens. Anyhow I am an idiot. Perhaps not a decent person. Not everyone gets open heart and lives. I was hatched in 67 but I love 70’s music. Not disco. Singer songwriter. What is better than this

  17. mothy67 says:

It’s music night somewhere. I love the start of this song

    Kids suck.
I ran away in my head where I went to Vegas. Not gonna happen. She means that much more than my indulgent fantasy. Seriously who gets what my brat got. Shecwas thrown away. I was a 40 year old faggot whose cold dead heart melted. Pup’s mom is having her fourth child. They live on Social Security. Her dad gets frequent flyer miles at jail. I was stupid picked up a kid no one cared about at a welfare day care center. Place smelled like poop. Her fat arms wrapped around my neck. She never went back nor did I to NYC. I raised her. There was no one else.
My prog friends think its cute. I did not do not nurture because I am gay. No no no no. There was no one else there. Fact that I am queer had nothing to do with it. I quit my life for her I am so much stronger because I did.

The imperial German war flag on display is widely used by neo-Nazis in Europe, where the display of the swastika flag is outlawed. The use of that flag in this context plays into the narrative that Trump’s most ardent backers are racist thugs.
