  1. They are voting on cloture now.

    • DandyTIger says:

Ha. And Dems think this is a win. Go Gowdy!

    • Venus says:

The idiot Dems/MSM/NeverTrumps are rejoicing at “getting a scalp” but are too short sighted to realize that with this move they can no longer deflect from Rice/leaks by focusing on Nunes.
Same thing happened when Flynn resigned — remove the squirrel and all you have is the real story to talk about.
I expect the Dems/MSM/NeverTrumps to never learn due to their arrogance — they are still convinced Trump is an fool/oaf who just lucked into winning against both the GOP establishment and the Dems/MSM and will never admit they were wrong about him. But the feint hearted Trumpers crying need to cowboy up — do they think Trump all of a sudden doesn’t know what he’s doing?

  2. NBD says:

I wonder what will become of the plagiarism allegations against Gorsuch. That would normally sink a SCOTUS nominee, but maybe it came too late in the game to do any real damage.

    • DandyTIger says:

It’s been a fun morning here in C’Ville. The pirate house hasn’t floated away. Yet. Next will be the high winds. Pull down the sails. Definitely not a day to be flying around here.

    • swanspirit says:

We just had a quick thunderboomer with a downpour here, and it has lightened up considerably, but I suspect that was just a preview.

    • Ann says:

I just sent my dog out to chase off the ducks that were swimming in a puddle on the lawn! He’d been watching them for a few minutes, so I figured “Why not?”

The grass is VERY green and we don’t need anymore April showers to get those May flowers (since everything is already budding! (NYS))

      • DeniseVB says:

LOL. We have a pair of Canada Geese getting awfully comfy in our backyard. My dh named them Barrack and Michelle, f**king grifters 😀

        • lateblum says:

          Hahahahaha !

        • Ann says:

The geese are honking up a storm (I consider them nuisance animals, as bad a deer). Last week they decided to sit on our (pretty darned new) roof and honk. And honk. And honk!

They got a ball tossed at them (clipping one on the side), and they flew away in anger (much honking ensued!) Two days later, one was back on the very top of the roof and Hubby made a motion like he was going to toss another tennis ball at it (Hubby never would have reached the peak where this one was honking from), and it flew away before Hubby could let that ball fly.

They have been honking from the neighbor’s roofs the last few days, but have left us alone. They don’t dare come down to the street as I let the dog loose on them (and we are geese free on the street for the season whenever that happens).

The geese are a commodity I’d like to ship back to Canada.

    Nuke the Democrat bastards!

  5. AFVet says:

Schumer tried to get the vote suspended until April 24th.
Just heard that the democrats were the ones that instituted the 60 vote majority in the first place.
    Constitution says a majority only.

    • lateblum says:

I didn’t realize the Constitution says “majority” vote.
The Democrats initiated the “nuclear option”, too. They do “whatever it takes” to get what they want. It didn’t used to be this way. Even government politics used to be more civilized. Of course, that was before my time…. 😉

      • AFVet says:

In 2001 the senate passed the 60 vote rule for all federal judges.
Reid changed that to fill the lower courts with Obama’s liberal nominees but it remained for the SCOTUS.
McConnell is just putting it back to the way it was.
Cloture was passed today so now they have 30 hours to vent before the vote tomorrow.

        Glacial pace indeed.

  10. President Donald Trump has told some members of Congress that he is considering military action in Syria in retaliation for this week’s chemical attack, and recognizes the seriousness of the situation, a source familiar with the calls tells CNN.
The source said the President had not firmly decided to go ahead with it but said he was discussing possible actions with Defense Secretary James Mattis.

Trump is relying on the judgment of Mattis, according to the source.

    • Venus says:

Unnamed source from CNN = fake news IMO.

If others start confirming it, I’ll chalk it up to luck on CNN’s part.

      • I dunno, that is a pretty good guess what Trump is probably doing (talking to Congress, considering options, relying on Mattis) so I would be surprised if he wasn’t doing those things. But guesses aren’t news.

    Ugh

    • Somebody says:

We had bad weather here during the wee hours of the morning, including a 2:30am tornado warning. The Lightening was unbelievable……constant, close and LOUD. I noticed a big oak tree on the golf course was split in half, YIKES. That had to be one of the really loud strike we heard. This oak was so big I wonder if I could have wrapped my arms around it, maybe but it would be a close call and who knows how tall it was……suffice it to say this was a BIG tree that is now split smack in half. Oddly one side is still standing and one side fell to the ground…….it’s actually kind of cool looking.

The violent storms pounded us for a couple of hours, the entire time my dog was freaking out so we got very little sleep last night. By the time the storms eased off we managed to get a whole 45 minutes of sleep before the alarm went off to get up for the day. I could so easily take a nap, but since I have 3 little ones to watch after that isn’t a good idea. I’m definitely going to bed early tonight.

Update from the other coast. That forecast ‘Atmospheric River’ scheduled for today has become a ‘Benign Mist’. Might get ‘windy’ tonight but everything here’s been downgraded. Hope y’all stay safe!!!

Puppy meals? Cough, as a certified pet nutrition “specialist” for Hill’s, just buy a bag of Science Diet Puppy and a few cans to smoosh in the wetted dry food for his baby diet, and voila, you’ll have less poop and a healthier pup.

I haven’t paid much attention to pet diets since I left veterinary borg in ’96, but I did have all my pets survive til their teens. I blame Science Diet 😉

      • votermom says:

We are doing mixed – kibble that he’s on now, and raw meaty bones + liver + organ (aka “frankenprey”)
BTW still no puppy name! We had one that was ok with thge girls and me then hubby nuxred it. Aaaaggghhh

        • Somebody says:

We had problems naming our bichon, hubby nixed most of the names. We were watching a Seinfeld rerun while I was cooking dinner and it hit me. Kramer……bichons have poof hair that is a bit wild…..seeing Kramer with his crazy hair the name seemed to fit. The kids LOVED that name, hubby balked yet again. I did some research and found out the character Kramer’s name is actually Cosmos Kramer. We shortened it to Cosmo Kramer and hubby finally agreed. I don’t know if hubby really liked that name or was just tired of the fight……..Damn near a month to name a dog, MEN, sheesh. We also had a bird that never got a name he was just birdie because hubby vetoed every name. I swear naming our kids was easier than naming our pets, smh.

I hope you can all agree on a name soon, good luck! In the meantime enjoy your little fella, puppies are soooo much fun!

        • DeniseVB says:

Do not make a major diet change until you talk to your puppy doctor, sorry if my message was confusing, I didn’t mean it to sound like that. 😀

JUST IN : Obama Plans to Hide in Scotland as Rice-Gate Blows Up

Looks like Obama is leaving his old buddy Susan Rice in the dust!

He is now scheduled to go right from island paradise in Fiji to hiding out in Scotland.

Well apparently we’re going to put together a “coalition” to remove Assad. At least that’s what I just heard on the boob tube, supposedly Tillerson said so. Coalition sounds so nice and cooperative, except the coalition will be 90% + US soldiers. Every other country will send a token contingent of soldiers and of course Japan will send pick up trucks.

WTF??? How about we figure out what happened and who is responsible before we start beating war drums. We do NOT need another fucking ME war. We do NOT need to topple another dictator because what comes next is pretty much always worse. This is NOT what I voted for. I have great sympathy for the innocents in Syria, but I’m sick of US blood being shed in ME hell holes where they hate our fucking guts. Let the UN send their “peace keepers” and leave us the fuck out of this. If Assad really gassed his people then let’s send him to the Hague and let them sort it out. Let the UN earn their fucking keep, let them send troops and let them oversee elections. My give a damn is broken, WTH happened to America first??

      • AFVet says:

        Maybe the rebels did it.

        • taw46 says:

Or ISIS. We have been down this same road in Syria before, no one knows who the “good guys” are, as if there are really any. I doubt it.

      • taw46 says:

Agree with you 100%. Hope this is just wishful thinking on the part of neocons. Please don’t do this, President Trump. Look at Iraq, Libya, Egypt with Morsi. It is always worse than before. Don’t do it!!

What he actually said, is different than what is being reported in headlines, stories.

“With the acts that he has taken, it would seem that there would be no rule for him to govern the Syrian people,” Tillerson told reporters. “The process by which Assad would leave is something that I think requires and international community effort, both to first defeat ISIS within Syria, to stabilize the Syrian country to avoid further civil war, and then to work collectively with our partners around the world through a political process that would lead to Assad leaving.”

So the Senate used the nuclear option, and now the Senate is basically an unrepresentative House of Representatives, which is jarring, because the cocksuckers in the Republican party have gerrymandered the House so much that it is already unrepresentative. There was no reason to blow up the filibuster, but they did it anyway because they could.

If you learn anything from this, it is that there is no reason to play nice with Republicans ever. Fuck bipartisanship. Fuck the tone police. Fuck the no labels group. Fuck bipartisanship. All the Republicans and the retrograde assholes who vote for them is raw power and force. Do unto others, as those biblehumping hypocrites like to state.

For fuck’s sake Democrats, they just spent eight years calling President Obama a n****r and elected a white supremacist and his Stormfront coterie. When are you going to fucking learn? When you are trying to save your wife’s life by performing a late-term abortion at home because they’ve overturned Roe?

Read the rest if are not tired of winning!😎

“There is only one thing certain about war, that it is full of disappointments and also full of mistakes.”

Churchill, 27 April 1941, Broadcast, London (cited in Langworth, Churchill: In His Own Words)
This is disappointing to me that President Trump decided to do this and indeed it is a mistake.
Trump was on his way to a great Presidential first term and he had to go and do this.
    💔
