NYC is going to the dogs.

The New York subway banned dogs from travelling – unless they fit inside a bag.

Which for large dog owners, was a bit of a problem.

But it didn’t take long until they found a loophole.

The loophole being – the rules only said the dog had to fit inside a bag, not that the bag had to be small.

So what did they do? You guessed it, they found bigger bags.

Is there a limit to the number of bags you can carry?

  1. It should be pointed out that these people are resisting a Democrat/Socialist government.

listening to the music in the movies I am watching, I am just amazed of the great use of the English language. It is sad that today’s music has nothing like it.

You’re so right, Helen. I’m going to see “Candide” tonight. I’ve been listening to my recordings and reading the lyrics/libretto. The words are magnificent, sublime. Richard Wilbur, John La Touché, Dorothy Parker, Lillian Hellman, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim.. There is some brilliant writing there. And the music ain’t half-bad, either. Despite the production being panned initially, it is now considered a classic in musical theater. It is one of my favorites (along with West Side Story – also a Bernstein-Sondheim classic).

Great…my birthday eve. Go figure…and rock on Courtney ❤️

    • Jadzia says:

Seriously? That is the fete de la musique in France. EVERYBODY is out on the streets late into the night, there are bands on every corner (I probably saw 50 strolling through the center of my medium sized city for an hour or two last year), it’s the most wonderful evening of the year. Those fuckers better not ruin it.

Fete de la musique is also the birthday of my older daughter. And that is the reason that I named her after the patron saint of music. So Catholic! So Freeeeeennch!

      • blowme0bama says:

Oh my God. Stay safe. You KNOW the Religion of Peace will be looking for a big showing.

        • Jadzia says:

Yeah, I think I’m not takin the birthday girl out to the big party. It sucks. The fête de la musique is one of the best things about living here. It’s old people, young people, students, yuppies, families, just everybody out on what is always a beautiful balmy evening, the longest day of the year. It is, if this is not too much of a cliche, a real testament to the unifying power of music. And I bet I’m not the only one who is thinking twice about going. One of my only friends here, a young hipster teacher who is also a musician, told me last summer after nice that he was pretty much done with public gatherings.

          I miss my culture.

UK results are mostly done. Looks like May’s conservatives have a plurality and lost their majority. Now there will be a scramble between the conservatives and labor to see who can form a coalition to make a majority. Could easily be either party, but most likely it will be the conservatives. Then the question is, will May continue as PM. Probably not. The conservatives will probably want to replace her because she screwed up so badly and showed herself as a weak leader and terrible campaigner. In the off chance that it’s labor that forms a coalition with other parties, then it will be the Bernie socialist type guy Corbyn. Should be interesting in the coming days.

Note that both May and Corbyn were against Brexit, but both have tacitly promised to implement the will of the voters. With either of them, or a May replacement, don’t expect enthusiastic Brexit implementation, if at all. May basically handed the government to someone else with her “strategy”.

Looks like “Comey-gate” totally eclipsed the latest “Ramadan Bomb-a-thon 2017” festival. There were other attacks (Iran, the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine) that went virtually unnoticed because the MSM was riveted to the Comey shit show.

On MJ today, still spinning Trump/Russian collusion. Nancy Pelosi calling for an independent commission and questioning President’s fitness for office. And she questions -why- he visited Saudi Arabia first (instead of Canada), implying something nefarious there. And more BS about how she wants to bring the country together. Panel sitting around saying it is clear Mueller is investigating obstruction of justice. And someone says President needs to testify under oath in front of the committee. Insane, insane people. Will. Never. Stop.

    • lyn says:

If Mueller is investigating obstruction of justice, what was the obstruction for? Fake Russian collusion?

    • blowme0bama says:

No, it will never stop so long as the cancerous MSM is allowed to continue 24/7 blasting radical leftist propaganda.

      • 49erDweet says:

Point of order. Disgree on the “allowing” bit. We shouldn’t think in those terms. We “allow” every POV in order that the truth is included in what’s being discussed. Once something is banned, actual facts can be concealed……leading to a type of facism. At least that’s the way I see it.

    • Lulu says:

One trick paid ponies following the script.
Trump’s private attorney very sneakily confirmed Trump recorded the NUT JOB Comey because he simply could not be trusted for shit. Many had warned Trump and I think Comey gave Trump the heebie jeebies. I bet Trump wears a wire. LOL. And has his own recording “studio”. He can afford it. Fuck Comey.

      • taw46 says:

I still can’t get over the fact that Comey testified he orchestrated the appointment of a special counsel by leaking his “memos”. That should be front page news everywhere, that he appointed himself god of the DOJ.

        • Lulu says:

To me he verified that he is an evil schemer. A very dishonest and manipulative asshole who will dupe, lie, con, inveigle, and lie to get what he wants. His “friends” have been used like toilet paper and ruined then discarded. A special prosecutor set up under false pretences, withheld information, and lies is moot and should be ruled void by a court, the DOJ, somebody. If Mueller had any character he would resign and say no investigation necessary after Comey’s spectacular flame-out and admissions.

          • taw46 says:

I totally agree with you. And if Mueller doesn’t do that, well, it just confirms once again that this is all political, they just want to get rid of Trump.

    • Jadzia says:

Apropos of nothing, I don’t “get” the Althouse commentariat. (Actually, I sometimes don’t “get” Althouse.)

      • elliesmom says:

I started reading Althouse and William Jacobson at Legal Insurrection when something was making its way through the Supreme Court. I don’t remember what it was, but they both were doing a good job explaining it to the masses. Ann is sort of where I am politically, although we made different choices in 2008. Sometimes leaning left and sometimes leaning right. I think she uses her blog to talk herself through things. The folks who comment there are all over the place. After awhile you learn which ones make interesting observations and which ones to just scroll by. There are pairs who mostly just take turns insulting each other, but some of them at least are creative in their insults. Since I’ve stopped visiting most lefty blogs on a regular basis, Althouse gives me a place to at least see what’s pushing the left’s buttons without having to read a host who’s left the building with Elvis

        • DeniseVB says:

Althouse was a good follow for the Scott Walker recall, fleeing state house dems, and all the fun stuff surrounding the hell they put him through, and he got re-elected in the recall election 😀 He was my first choice for 2016, well, until that fateful ride down the escalator in NYC !

      • Lulu says:

It is its own little sub-culture with fussy fighting and sniping. We here are too probably a sub-culture of the Democratic Party wars. Ha. Most blogs are that are around very long are evolutions into sub-sub-sub cultures. I don’t get Ace at all for example. Not my demographic. I think Althouse tries to hard for example and should just let rip once in a while. She seems too often to be trying to explain a NYT crossword puzzle and no one gives a shit.

  18. Until a few minutes ago I was enjoying a lazy Saturday morning.

    • Jadzia says:

Ha ha ha. I just read the chapter of “Super Fudge” last night (Judy Blume book, in case you don’t remember) in which Fudge tricks his older brother into getting up very early on a Saturday, telling him it’s a Friday. My oldest son has now vowed to do that to his younger brother. Me: “OH NO YOU WILL NOT.”

No worries. You can enjoy it again tomorrow.

I need the ugliest name one can think of. I am inclined towards Hulga. I almost never call Shay Shayla I use whatever name pops into my head. No matter the name she knows my voice. One mother was appalled when I yelled Dolores you ain’t going nowhere until you clean dugout. She turned around and came back. This cow tried to give me some feminist rant about how I was denying her identity.
No you cunt it was a game like peek a boo. Way of teaching her to spell. I had to figure out how to spell Shayla. I can’t believe we made it this far. Not one B (as a final year grade) in all those years. A child no one wanted. I am requesting a medically induced coma until after high school. It’s my only option.
Kidding aside I am so proud and thrilled. Yet terror grips my heart. Not about her but about how many of life’s markers those cowardly bastards have stolen. So sad what those demons steal.

Reading dishwasher reviews. Have to laugh at this one:

’ve got to hand it to the engineers at GE. Not only did they produce a beautiful, sleek appliance that cleans my dishes to utter perfection, when they designed it, they kept the consumer experience in mind.
The brilliant minds at GE recognized that people, by nature, need to work hard at something to fully appreciate it, solving problems builds self-esteem, and moreover when people achieve the impossible they feel like they are winning at life. They channeled this awareness and incorporated it into each and every step of the installation process. From the placement of the water connection 1’ underneath the appliance in a space that could only be accessible by the hand of a small child, to the adjustable feet for leveling the machine that could only be adjusted by…. well…. Magic.
I was especially impressed with how they dutifully saved the biggest challenge for last. Replacing the floor protection pan. A simple task requiring two hands while lying prone on the floor, forcing me to rely on blind luck.
And, while they could have left me to figure out the entire process on their own, I sincerely appreciate the fact that they included the instruction booklet. With vague directions and poor illustrations, I was forced find creative ways to accomplish each and every task laid before me.
In conclusion, bringing this “baby” home was an experience much akin to childbirth. The entire process took two days and left my entire body in pain and my brain numb with exhaustion. Yet, bone-weary and sore, I took great pride in watching my new dishwasher quietly purr as it washed the first load of dishes.
For anyone considering purchasing this dishwasher, and in all likelihood any product made by GE, I strongly encourage you to pay the extra cost and let whoever you purchased it from deliver and install it for you.

    • CiscoKid says:

“The brilliant minds at GE recognized that people, by nature, need to work hard at something to fully appreciate it…”
Well if that was the case I’d do the dishes by hand.

        • lateblum says:

So far, I like the Whirlpool dishwasher that I bought when I renovated my kitchen a few years ago. It replaced a KitchenAid that was old when I moved in 24 years ago.

        • Lulu says:

Maytag stainless interior dishwasher. Very efficient and fast but noisy because of the metal interior but we don’t care. It has four cycles (short, medium, long and prewash) and a bunch of other stuff. It is especially good with greasy dishes and pots. It was very reasonably priced. I replace Fisher Paykel dishdrawers which were broken from the minute they were installed. Absolute crap. Leaked, blitzed control panels, front panel fell off. I have never been so glad to get rid of something. And their warranty is garbage.

The last appliance hubby installed was a garbage disposal about 30 years ago. The first time I turned it on it fell off and vibrated itself out from under the cabinet with water gushing out and me screaming.

    • DeniseVB says:

We’ve been paying the extra cost for years of replacing appliances, plus you get a free demo and if the installer screws up, you can call him back.

      Here’s why:

1- replaced refrigerator about 15 years ago, hubby and a friend brought it home and hooked her up……the icemaker has never worked properly. Not a fancy fridge either, I’m looking to replace soon just for the fekking ice. I will PAY for installation!!!!

2- Microwave died, dh went to Lowe’s, to save $90, he would do it himself. 2 days later it was finally running! It’s an over the stove mount, taking out the old one without tearing down the surrounding cabinets, ruining the wall behind it (“don’t worry, it won’t show when the new one’s in”), the kitchen was torn up for 2 days.

Yep, worth it, pay the guy!!

      • elliesmom says:

Elliesdad is not very good at home repair and improvement. When we’re standing in a store, he’ll say, “Can we do that ourselves, hun?” If I say no, then it means I can’t do it so he asks to have it installed. I’m getting dumber and dumber.
