I’ve been binge-watching GOT S6 all day.

  1. Who is your favorite GOT character?

Mine is Arya Stark. She’s a bad ass.

    • DandyTIger says:

Definitely Arya. And since they kill every character I like eventually, I’m bracing for it. Well, they pretty much kill every character eventually. Kind of the point of the game.

      • My pet theory is Jon Snow and Daenerys are gonna hook up to be the new king and queen. Sansa or Arya will die, but not both. Arya will take out Cersei. Tyrion or Jaime will be the last Lannister.

Yes, I know that Snow is part Targarean, but they go for cousin-marriage.

        • Venus says:

Jamie is going to take out Cersi–just like with the Mad King, Cersi will get so crazy, targeting innocents that he’ll stop her.

The fortune teller/witch in the woods Cersi visited when she was a little girl told her that her little brother will kill her, which is why she always hated Tyrion, but Jamie was born after Cersi (twins, but Cersi came out first, which makes Jamie her “little” brother too).

    • Jadzia says:

Lady Lyanna Mormont! Of course, raising her is a bit less fun than watching her on TV.

  2. Now you see why I like Arya.

  3. DeniseVB says:

    I’ve never seen a GOT episode. But I like this….via Milo….

    • Mt.Laurel says:

I have never seen it either .I have only digital starter and fortunately for me that includes TCM and refuse to given them any more money. Everyone was offering the electronic version of the first book for $1.99 yesterday so I decided it was worth two bucks to see if it caught my interest.

I also picked up The Martian and an Agatha Christie for $1.99 each as well.

I downloaded samples of Milo’s and Sharyl’s (Smeared) books. After reading the samples (ibooks usually gives decent sample sizes that you can judge the writing/tone – Kindle and Nook often just have the TOC and such), they are now in my saved for later basket.

  4. Venus says:

Best line of the night was from my sassy Sansa:

“No need to seize the last word, Lord Baelish. I’ll assume it was something clever”

  5. DandyTIger says:

Funny. Scott Adams laughs so much he starts crying. He’s talking about how pathetic the Dems must be that they actually panicked over Kid Rock running. Priceless.

    • Jadzia says:

Are you my dad? Because that is totally something he would have said. That man had no filter.

      • The lack of a filter has gotten me in trouble on many occasions.

        • Jadzia says:

Him, too. My favorite Dad’s big mouth story involves his firing from The Mining Journal, which was (and still is) the daily newspaper in the town we lived in when I was a baby. He was a sportswriter. At least until the day he wrote one of those “I went to a fight, and a hockey game broke out” stories that went on to insult the intelligence, the manners and possibly the parentage of the locals attending said game.

So he became a high school teacher. This is how he would deal with kids falling asleep in class: [Bangs on desk.] “HEY! You wanna sleep at the Hotel Fogo, YOU GOTTA PAY!”

We did hear from a lot of his students when he died. He was a crank, but he was a widely beloved crank.

    • swanspirit says:

I knew it would be drugs! Cracked me right up!

  6. Jadzia says:

HA HA I love that Sansa meme.

  7. Jadzia says:

0.8 more kg gone! I’m only like half a pound overweight now and am hoping to shed that before leaving for the land of gelato, pizza, wine (because I’m shepherding four kids around Rome in the heat and at the height of tourist season ALL ALONE fuck yes I will drink some wine) and forget the diet.

    • DandyTIger says:

I so want to go to Rome sometime. Have a great time! And of course forget the diet.

      • Jadzia says:

Absolutely! You should definitely go to Rome. It is beautiful, in all its sometimes-tattered glory. My best advice is that if you have never seen Trevi Fountain and you find yourself going to Rome, DON’T GOOGLE PICTURES. I had no idea what to expect the first time I rounded the corner to the fountain, and was absolutely blown away and thrilled not to have been “spoiled.” Moreover, the people are wonderful.

I suspect the food isn’t going to be too much of a problem. I’ve been there before, our favorite gelato place is almost an hour’s walk from where we’re staying (so burn it off burn it off), and I don’t really like pasta. I’m not expecting to keep losing weight, but I’m not expecting a huge disaster, either.

        • taw46 says:

We walked, following the signs for Trevi fountain, rounded the corner to see — an orange mesh fence! And no water in the fountain. They were doing maintenance on the fountain, I could have cried, lol. But I agree, you are not prepared for the location.

      • Jadzia says:

Thanks! Obviously I gained weight being pregnant four times in five years but now my youngest is five years old, so I have only a burrito baby and myself to blame for this continuing state of affairs. It’s time to get down to business!

        • elliesmom says:

This is baring my soul more than I usually do, but this is what’s behind my weight loss. Elliesdad and I used to share the same PCP. When he began having serious health problems and had to leave work, he became very depressed. He still is. Overnight my visits to the doctor became all about what I should be doing for him. I was more than willing to talk to her about those things at his visits, but not at mine. She missed a couple of obvious things that needed attending to. The things she recommended I do to “help” him were decidedly not good for me. The pounds just kept piling on. When the nosebleed happened and the bp spiked, the ER doc tore my PCP a new one. He said I was in stroke territory, and how could she have missed it? In a panic, she referred me to a hypertension specialist.

When I walked into her smiling face, the first thing she said, “Was what can I do to make you feel better?” I lost it. She was so patient and listened to what it feels like to get swallowed up in someone you love’s depression. How much I hated being overweight. How much I hated taking meds that made my feet swell so I couldn’t even wear pretty shoes. Slowly, she put me back together. How to be loving and supportive, but selfish enough to take care of myself. When Elliesdad asked to see her, too, she refused him as a patient. She’s “mine”- all mine. With the bp under control w/o meds and the weight slowly going away, there’s no medical reason for me to see her so we became friends, and she’s still all mine. 🙂

          • votermom says:

I’m glad you are getting so much healthier! Is elliesdad getting better too?
How are your new docs at your new place?

Is the hypertension specialist the one you became friends with?

          • lateblum says:

OH, em, that is a lovely story. I’m so glad you were able to find a doc all for your very own. She sounds wonderful and helpful and able to guide and challenge you in such supportive ways. It’s too bad you were “in stroke territory”, but you aren’t any longer. Congratulations on your success. And thank you for sharing your eating plan with me/us yesterday. I’m gone (most days) through the the day, so couldn’t really get back to you (and votermom) yesterday.

          • foxyladi14 says:

          • Jadzia says:

Jesus, what a nightmare. I’m glad you went to that ER.

          • Underwhelmed says:

Also, I have a friend in your situation re spouse. It’s very very very difficult. One of life’s biggest, toughest challenges. Bless you.

    • I’ll probably be blocked now.

  8. Dora says:

Yes of course! It’s been sexism all the time. We should have known that.

    • Lulu says:

She was a social worker and “community organizer” before a college “president”. No qualifications to run a snow cone stand. To notice this and her enormous failure is sexist.

      • 49erDweet says:

She hasn’t a pathetic clue that making that claim also implies she admits she has no other marketable skill or ability upon which to judge her accomplishments, or lack thereof. Sheesh!??

    • CiscoKid says:

      So tired, sexism💤💤💤💤, racism💤💤💤💤

  9. CiscoKid says:

George A. Romero, creator of the “zombie” movies died this weekend at 77 years of age.
    Night of the Living Dead.
Film critic Roger Ebert called it “one of the best horror films ever made — and, as an inescapable result, one of the most horrifying. It is gruesome, sickening, disgusting, violent, brutal and appalling. It is also … brilliantly crafted, funny, droll, and savagely merciless in its satiric view of the American consumer society.”
    Lifted from Brietbart.

  10. Lulu says:

The immigration, border wall, voter fraud crackdown, deportation lottery is continuing apace. The MSM is studiously avoiding covering any of it. It looks like the first section of “wall” is going to be on the Rio Grande in a “ecologically sensitive” area. That area called the Santa Ana National Refuge has been destroyed by illegals, coyotes and drug runners. Now it is a nasty mess and a wall stopping indiscriminate tromping and human drug mule trains stomping nests all over bird habitat will let it naturally recover which is why they picked it to defend in federal court.

The Texas threat to sue over non-compliance over the Dreamers (I think Texas was asked to threaten to sue) in a federal court case Texas et al won has prompted DHS to come out and just say it, Obama’s made up special rules for special classes of illegal (voters) is not defensible in court so they aren’t going to do it. Also border hoppers, to their horror, are being prosecuted on first illegal entry, instead of being bussed into the interior of the country or just shoved back over the fence. The pilot program in Arizona is interesting as not only do they get jail time (some months at least), as convicts they can never get a visa or work permit as a felon. One and done. They can’t even come over to shop.

The Australian’s are learning the hard way what extreme vetting entails. Obama agreeing to the dump of completely uncooperative illegal Muslim migrants caught in boats off Oz was an attempt to set up Trump and create friction with an ally. These “refugees” won’t even give their names or nationality. So no vetting for you! and INS just walked off and left them in their shit jails on Borneo. Don’t pull this crap again Oz. Find a way to deport them yourselves.

Judge What’s His Name in Hawaii can’t read. The bona fide rule cited by the Supremes for admitting aliens into the US based upon relationship is the same as it has been for many decades. Refugees get wife and kids, green card wife and kids and some others but no grandma, US citizen all that and granny. All relationships must be proven with primary or quality secondary evidence as required in US courts. If you come from a shit hole with no records of any probative value that is just tough shit.

This is all being ignored and more Don Jr and the Russia, Russia, Russia. But even that is leading back to McCain the skunk who had an “episode” of exploding brain and eyeball because the shit is gettin’ real.

    • taw46 says:

I read about all of those issues/actions and more and just smile. My “forced” viewing of MSNBC (by my relatives) shows me all they talk about is “Russia, Russia, Russia” and “Chaos”. My relatives do not have a clue as to what is being done by this administration. And since they don’t want me to even mention politics, I don’t. I just walk through the house smiling while they are being duped. Shame, really. They both are very nice people. Oh well.

      • Lulu says:

It is amazing that none of it is being covered. You’d think the MSM would be screaming over it but nope. I left out a good one. New Fords manufactured in Mexico being imported into the US are full of marijuana. OOPS! While I don’t think Ford corporate is ok with this it just shows that Ford Mexico is infiltrated by the cartels.Search all Ford imports as a result and see if they really want their cars torn apart looking for drugs before the cars can be brought in. Is it really cheaper if the cars have to be put together TWICE.

Seattle’s Democrat Mayor busted for abusing his foster son(s). Somehow, I don’t think this is an effective way to raise the public profile of local Dems to win the 2018 mid terms, but hey – knock yourselves out, Losers…

  13. Lulu says:

Minivan. You need a new nice one. You deserve it.

    • Lulu says:

Miss-nested. Supposed to be under Jadzia and cars. Ugh it is Monday.

      • Jadzia says:

Ha ha. This is one reason I have been dithering about the car for two years. I live downtown. Unlike most people, I have my own driveway but it is horrifyingly narrow to a person who learned to drive in the wide open Midwest. I’d kind of like to get a sedan because the kids are old enough for all of us to fit (one kid is old enough and big enough to sit in front and the two youngest are almost out of boosters). And even with a sedan I would have to get ParkAssist. With all kids in car there would be no room for husband, but he is free to keep the old minivan and I can’t remember the last time we were in a car together, so it really shouldn’t matter, plus it’s my money, but I’m not sure about bringing that shitstorm down around me! That said, I did ask him to help me look at a super nice, very safe minivan (some brand I never heard of, but great safety ratings), but that request is now going on two months old so maybe I should just do what I want!

        • DeniseVB says:

Can you get your hands on a Chevy Trailblazer ? They’re only sold in Europe and South America now. Obama “banned” them in the U.S. because they were so popular or something. Best car I’ve ever owned and hanging on to my 2003 until they come back to ‘Merica. This is what she looks like …

  14. Lulu says:

Ah-hahahah. Three Democratic “stars”, Perez, Franken, and Ellison had a live Youtube “event”. It only drew 138 “total” viewers. Discussed were health care and net neutrality. The Dems are red hot! NOT.

  15. votermom says:

“Judge will make a final decision on the 11-month-old’s fate on Tuesday July 25”.

That’s a week! Make the decision today Judge. Every minute counts!

      • DandyTIger says:

Every minute doesn’t count with their healthcare system. Just like it won’t if Dems get their way here.

      • Jadzia says:

What is really awful about this is that the baby supposedly would have had more of a chance if he had been treated early. Instead he got months of lawyers and bureaucrats spinning on their thumbs.

        • lateblum says:

It stinks. I’m going to say, after working in the health insurance criminal enterprise industry straight out of college, and then being married to an insurance bigwig for 20+ years, BCBS, AETNA, CIGNA,, would most likely have denied coverage for this family from the get-go unless someone MUCH higher up had ordered them to allow the procedure.
