I don’t think this will come as a shocker but I’ve got no problem with the Mooch scaring the shit out of leakers.

It’s even better knowing that he & Priebus are engaging in this theater to give the MSM another distraction while Trump keeps #MAGAing. Not Trump’s fault MSM only cares about trivial, unserious things.

Derek Harvey is a Middle East expert who had been on the National Security Council. He had pushed for a “more belligerent” line on Iran — in accordance with Trump’s, but apparently not McMasters’, wishes.

Obviously, then, he had to go.

Harvey was apparently a strong advocate of Trump’s decision to bomb a Syrian airfield in April in retaliation for the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad using chemical weapons on civilians days earlier. Harvey also supported a more bellicose Iran strategy than either Tillerson or Secretary of Defense James Mattis.
Mattis, in particular, had strong disagreements with Harvey. Sources told the Standard that Mattis raised his concerns with National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster, who was the one to fire Harvey on Thursday morning.

Harvey, a long-time intelligence professional with wide knowledge of the Middle East, played a critical role in the administration’s Iran, Syria, and Iraq policies. He has extensive experience as an intelligence officer and analyst for the military, embassies, and the Defense Intelligence Agency.

McMaster meanwhile continues fighting to keep Obama’s Team in place.

Harvey was closely involved in president Trump’s efforts to rid the National Security Council of Obama holdovers, who were suspected of leaking national security secrets to the press. After extensive research, Harvey compiled a list of suspected leakers and reportedly delivered it straight to the president, who then took his list to McMaster.
Even though President Trump asked McMaster to fire the individuals on the list, the NSC chief refused the president’s directives to get rid of the Obama holdovers. This comes as Congress continues to sound the alarm about the national security implications of a White House that can’t control the release of classified information.

And as the classified leaks continue to spill into the public domain at a record-high rate, the National Security Council remains staffed with a shockingly high percentage of holdovers from the Obama era. Reached for comment, a White House official estimated that well over fifty percent of the National Security Council staff are Obama holdovers.

But instead of firing the Obama holdovers, McMaster has purged several conservative Trump supporters from the ranks of the NSC.

Bill Whittle always cuts to the chase. While the “why” sometimes changes in science, the “what” is an immutable truth in science. When you throw something into the air while standing on the earth, it will always come back down. It will if you stand on the Moon, too. And if we ever get to Mars, the same thing will happen. The ideas about why it does have changed over the years and may continue to change, but deciding it won’t because it’s inconvenient to your world view doesn’t change the outcome. After a human being dies, an inspection of the pelvic bone structure will show whether that person was male or female. A simple DNA test will confirm it. Amputating appendages or artificially creating them can’t change the sex of a human being. Wishing it were so doesn’t change reality and falls into the same category as believing a rotund man in a red suit flies around in a vehicle powered by reindeer and delivers presents to only kids with parents who have some disposable income one night a year. It’s fun to humor kids, but at some point we expect them to accept reality. I can control my anger toward the average person on the left when I view them as children who in their own way are reluctant to give up their belief in Santa. But the people who use that naivete to manipulate them are lower than scum at a sewer treatment plant.

Shapiro and the Never-Trumpers are terrible at game theory or cause and effect. Really, really bad. And they can’t or won’t see connections.
In October I think the whole thing will start collapsing in a big way. More counties will have no carrier to sell polices in the exchanges. Premiums will be so high most people will not be able to afford them. At least one insurer will file for bankruptcy because they didn’t get out fast enough. And Trump will simultaneously start killing “waivers” (everyone must be treated the same) and cutting off Medicaid money (we’re broke ass, sorry) to states who took the Obamacare carrot thinking they would be bailed out or single-payer. Everyone involved will be screaming DO Something and Trump will say “but John McCain super lobbyist (Fusion GPS connections) for Russia didn’t want to do so nor dumb ugly chicks in the Senate.” I’m just spit-balling here.

Interestingly Scott Adams has said for months this GOP congress effort would fail. And only after if fails that Trump would come in and make a proposal, effectively taking the heat for both sides, allowing them to pass without risk. Though right now Trump is saying just let Obamacare fail and wait for Dems to come begging. While millions of Americans suffer and premiums go up, and more counties lose any choices, who knows what voters will do though.
