Toes Go In First Open Thread

I was watching The Wall last night and there were two thirtysomething blonde sisters from Iowa as contestants. I was really impressed by Jodi. What impressed me the most was not her ability to jump while wearing high heels, nor even the elevation she was able to achieve. What impressed me the most was the way everything under that green dress stayed in place when she went up and down.

If I tried doing that it would look like someone jiggling a big bowl of green jello.

  1. If you watch the whole episode you would see that Jodi did a lot of jumping.

I can’t help but wonder if this is the new carrot to be used to get re-elected now that Obamacare efforts have flamed out.

Stop talking about it and do it.

I heard Jim Jordan (Ohio) on Rush today tell Mark Steyn that he and three others have started the process to begin an investigation into Hillary e-mails etc.

      Why now?
      Why not four months ago?

  7. taw46 says:

Now the question is, who goes to DHS? Some are already suggesting Sessions.

    • Anthony says:

I would think Rudy Giuliani might be in the running. Didn’t he meet with Trump last week?

    • Lulu says:

That might be good since he wouldn’t have recuse himself. I would like to see Greg Abbott (gov of Texas, former state atty gen and boss of Ted Cruz) who successfully sued the shit out of Obama’s DOJ numerous times. He could clean house and no recusing.

      • taw46 says:

Yes he did sue. Think it would be a good choice.

        • Lulu says:

Ted Cruz is a great courtroom and tactical attorney. I’ve been told by multiple people that Abbott is the brains and strategist behind all kinds of stuff. As state att gen they took on EPA and BLM of Interior Dept and won those too. A nice and decent man but he runs a tight ship. I don’t think Trump really knows him and not sure Abbott would want to go to DC since he has a really good gig.

From below, FWIW….”The Forestal before & after John McCain incompetently fired a missile on deck. He did the same thing to his legacy last night.”

“McCain blew up the Forrestal” was thrown around when he was running for President and I thought that was a true part of the McCain the “Admiral’s Kid and screwup” story. Looked it up then and again now and McCain was in his A4 Skyhawk getting ready to launch when a rocket from an F4 Phantom across the flight deck launched and hit McCain’s aircraft. He escaped his burning jet and helped rescue others.

“The White House is retreating unto themselves.” Direct quote. Don’t know who said it as I do not know the ppl on CNN. I turned it on just for laughs. Haven’t seen it in such a long time, that I had to scroll down my channel list one at a time until I found it. lol.

President Trump gave the Republicans a try and they failed him (and us). Trump was a life long Democrat. I have the feeling he will work with anyone who wants to work and that might be an odd group of people.

    Thanks for humoring me. 💕

    • lyn says:

      I love “Tootsie.”

      • lateblum says:

I do too. There is a cable channel on my plan that shows movies without interruption. It is called MPlex. This is the second time in less than 2 weeks they’ve shown “Tootsie”. Sadly, I’ve missed the beginning hour both times. Probably because I don’t watch tv that much so I don’t pay attention to the time. Next time I watch it, I’ll watch it from the beginning. 😉

    Some ‘behind the scenes’ gossip.

GATEWAY PUNDIT EXCLUSIVE: Reince Priebus Was Scratching Scaramucci Off of President’s Schedule

It’s no secret that President Trump’s Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci do not much care for each other and this was BEFORE the The New Yorker piece was published on Thursday.

    • Lulu says:

If true that is a little bitch move. COS are notorious gatekeepers for their own agendas. This would jibe with the GOPe insiders trying to control everything they could and Ryan et al trying to bring Trump to heel or down. I think Scaramouche had no problem swearing fealty to Trump instead of the GOPe. Now DC is shifting to New York rules instead of swamp DC rules. Totally different ethos.

  27. DeniseVB says:

Here’s more on that NYC suicide couple. Appears they’re just bad money managers, going back to the Clinton years. Funny how the story twists to “it happened on the day of the Ocare vote, so that must be the reason they jumped”. Kids college aged, how could they do this to them? None of this makes sense.

    • Anthony says:

That one pic in the article was really grisly. There had to be more to the story than debt

      • DeniseVB says:

Did they jump, or were they pushed ? We know of their public debt (school loans, back taxes). Loan shark/mafia/bookie coming to collect with pre-typed suicide notes? Kids went to a private h.s./ $76k/yr for both. Now both in $$college$$. Doesn’t sound like a family with money problems. It’s an office building, must be security tapes of people entering and leaving the building. I gotta lay off the Law and Order and Godfather marathons 😀

the art of war. I forgot that Trump went to a military school.

    • Lulu says:

And then to business graduate school which in the old days was similar. Generals and high level business men and women ran WWII. Personnel and fighting was generals, munitions, transport and supplies were businessmen.

Article has some suggestions for Kelly replacement.

“The process to replace Kelly is going to be “incredibly nasty,” said one immigration reformer, because Trump’s immigration policy must be pushed against vehement bipartisan opposition by a determined and effective leader. Trump has recognized that he wants tough deputies to handle the tough job of immigration enforcement, partly because a good DHS leadership will help Trump to stay above the day-to-day fight.”

  34. Dora says:

    This thread…….!!!

    • DandyTIger says:

Great thread. So it looks like from this Trump can dismantle Obamacare. The question is, does he want to do it now, or are there strategic reasons to let congress swing in the wind longer.

      • 1539days says:

There’s a payment to insurance companies this month to keep them in the exchanges. The president controls that payment. Also, most of Obamacare allows the head of HHS to regulate it. He could reduce plan requirements until insurance only has to cover catastrophic, which will slash the price of a policy.

      • DandyTIger says:

I don’t think Trump will want to touch it now though. Maximum leverage in negotiating happens if Obamacare fails hard. Let it do what it will do, continuing to flounder. Don’t bail out insurance companies. Don’t fix anything. Just let it go the way it’s headed, as it was designed. It was designed to fail, probably to be forced to turn into single payer or something. Let it fail.
