I was mesmerized by DJT since the late 80’s and always thought, gee whiz, he should be President. Oh wait, I support him IN F**King 2016, so that makes me a bad person (fill in the slur)?

So glad I left the Dems in ’08, the Birth of the Antifa years. (PSA for Niles at It’s our government is broken not this stupid social media.

    In honor of the eclipse.

I boarded the Trump train before it left the station. I do not regret it.

I wonder if any of the looney left will act out tomorrow?

  5. elliesmom says:

In 1972 I went to Nova Scotia to see a total eclipse of the sun. I didn’t have a Learjet. I was driving an old Plymouth Valiant with a push button transmission. I was majoring in physics with a concentration in the earth sciences. My astronomy prof pushed all of us to go, but I was the only one with family there, and hotels were hard to come by on a student budget. It was the first long trip I ever took by myself. I stayed with the family of the crazy Canadian cousin I sometimes mention here. We watched the eclipse in a pasture wearing welder’s goggles. About 100 or so folks. It was an exciting trip for me, but the eclipse itself was underwhelming. The birds didn’t stop chirping, the cows didn’t seem to notice, and it was over pretty much before it started. I stayed 2 weeks so I would arrive and leave outside the window of traffic, but where I was wasn’t particularly tourist-y so there weren’t enormous crowds to battle. Nothing like my friends on the road to the eclipse viewing areas are reporting this weekend. New England will be in the path of a total eclipse in 7 years. If I’m still around, I’ll probably head out of town like I did for the bicentennial. 🙂

    • 1539days says:

I’m fighting a cold, so I’ll probably call in and watch it on TV. Where I live, it will only be 70% occlusion, which is basically like a sudden thunderstorm.

      • elliesmom says:

If I were getting on a plane to see the eclipse, I’d go to the west coast where they’ll see the sun rise fully eclipsed. Also, they’ll probably have the best loonies watching it to hang out with. I’m hoping to find that view somewhere on TV or online.

    • Did you see James Taylor?

    • Somebody says:

Elliesmom, that sounds like such a fun trip! A Valiant? What color? Mine was sky blue, that was my first car and I hated it…….I wanted a Transam. My best friend’s parents got her a Transam, my other close friend got a 240Z. My older sisters got a Charger and a Duster, new! Boo hoo, poor me I get mom’s old Valiant, wah, wah, wah. God I was such a brat. If I had hung onto that Valiant I bet it would still be running strong, that thing was a tank!

We will have 93% blockage here, but I have 3 small kids so we’ll probably watch it on TV and gaze out the window. I’m worried I won’t be able to keep the little ones from looking at the sun so I just plan to avoid outside. They are letting school out at 11am tomorrow so bus drivers and school personnel don’t have to be responsible for making sure kids don’t look at the sun. The eclipse is during bus routes and car rider pick up time.

      • elliesmom says:

My Valiant was dark green,, and yes, it was a tank. Elliesdad and I had started to plan our wedding for 1973. While I had no doubts about marrying him, I wanted an “adventure” first. I had spent a lot of summers in Nova Scotia as a kid, but I hadn’t been there since my grandmother died. When I mentioned wanting to see the eclipse, my great aunts and uncles planned a trip for me. I came home with a trunk full of family “heirlooms”. I still have the potato ricer and the food mill they taught me how to use. I even got a “counter-marriage proposal” while I was there from someone I used to hang out with as a kid. But I came home. 😉

  6. Dora says:

We voted for him because we knew he was a winner. And he is proving it. 🙂

ANOTHER RECORD: President Trump Cuts More US Debt for a Longer Period of Time Than Any President in History

It’s Now Official – No President in US History has Cut More from the US Federal Debt for a Longer Period of Time than President Donald J. Trump.

President Trump now can claim the longest and largest decrease of US Federal Debt in US history.

Naw, the website thing is because Google wants everyone to be an https. Anyone with a Google search console for their website that wasn’t already an https got a heads-up email from Google last week. i am still putting it off (I seldom get more than 1k hits a day from Google, so they aren’t a top priority for me).

      • AFVet says:

        That explains the security issue.

      • Mt.Laurel says:

Yes – you will likely start to see this with everything you sign into using a password. AOL is compliant and these little locks show up next to everything indicating it is secure. HAA! I do not use Chrome/Google but I still get notices for many sites like the organization based emails and Medline and other resources.

I never bothered to put searches on the websites I handle because they are for small agencies and it is not worth my time for the small number of legitimate hits to deal with the Games of Google.

down thread it was mentioned that Trump will discuss Afghanistan,
my only opinion is that I hope a never see a column of isis in an empty part of the desert, with no American planes in sight. under backtrack if isis was at point A, our planes would be at point B

  11. Took Mom shopping. Almost left her there. On purpose.

Saw a protest on the way there. Waved my MAGA hat at them.

Coming out of the supermarket some old black guy points out my hat to his young grandson. I smiled at him, but that probably didn’t help. My smile tends to scare people.

What a day. 90 minutes to GOT

  13. elliesmom says:

As was recorded here, I was a reluctant Trump voter at first, but when I finally got on board, I was all in. I have no regrets about giving him my vote. Any residual guilt I had about not voting for the first woman to become president were assuaged before election day

Seems to be the underlying motive of recent SJW causes; OWS, LGBTQ, BLM, etc., etc….pretty sophisticated social/political philosophy for Self-involved Snowflakes, which raises the question who is funding and providing the brains for this???

  22. Daenerys is fire, and Jon Snow is ice. Fire can’t harm her. Cold can’t kill him.

    • Venus says:

No. Jon is fire (Tagyreon) and Ice (Stark). He will ride the dragon named for his father –Rhaegal.

      Dany is obviously fire.

And what was right in front of us all along became obvious last night — the Night King is ice. (Hints in books is that he’s a Stark).
He’s the 3rd head of the Dragon and will ride Viserion.

if you do not want a reply you say out

    • 49erDweet says:

Yeah, we’ve been watching Endeavor recently, too. They really get the bits and pieces – and sometimes the boring-ness – of police work down pat.

I NEVER voted for Obama, never hesitated to vote for Trump and even today freely admit there are things about his style that make me cringe a bit. Still, I ran to the polls at 6am and voted for him. (Alrighr, I rolled in from an after hours joint on W 83rd St, but only because I’d never make it on time of i didnt)

We voted for Trump because we’re Americans who wholeheartedly believe in American exceptionalism and knew our country was circling the drain. Plain and simple

A petition calling on the Trump administration to formally recognize the Antifa movement as a terrorist organization has reached the threshold after which the White House is compelled to reply.

Unless they can be knocked out. My spidey sense tells me RICO. Or several major investigations breaking like DWS and her spy ring of idiots. And Soros hasn’t been around lately. He has gone to ground like any old fascist would when the shit starts going sideways. The overreaction by progs to everything is so over the top and Goeble, Twit, and Facefuck have had to go full censorship too early to make it a smooth and unnoticeable slide. Add in an eclipse (full moon madness times a thousand) and a presidential speech. I think Bannon went back to Breitbart to make sure all the scandal and investigations don’t get deep-sixed by the media and the president has a handy churn and diversion vehicle of the media. If Breitbart prints it the MSM will have trouble ignoring it. From a slight distance it looks like managed and orchestrated chaos.

I tweeted that, good read ! We really need a strong third party, but the Dems and GOP tend to suck all the oxygen out of the air…..and the money.

    • Anthony says:

I don’t think it was “unintended” at all. I voted for him because I believed he fully and consciously intended to rip the mask off of both parties, who are actually 2 sides of the same party taking turns playing ‘good cop/bad cop’

      • Somebody says:

      • Venus says:

Yep. It was a hostilw takeover of the GOPby Trump.

  52. elliesmom says:

NASA has been broadcasting the eclipse all morning. Great views.Chatter is apolitical. But you’re right. It’s not as exciting as all of the hype.

  53. Somebody says:

Guess what? Our solar glasses from a certified, reputable, NASA approved company arrived in the mail this morning! They were on backorder for weeks, we had given up. We didn’t get any notice they had shipped but they were in the mailbox.

Guess what else? It’s pouring outside. I don’t think the clouds will clear in the next 30 minutes either so it’s still a bust here.

  54. elliesmom says:

Completely off topic. I’ve had a Dyson vacuum for over a decade. Other than replacing the cord when Samantha chewed through it, it’s been fuss-free. When we moved, we bought a Shark so we’d have a vacuum cleaner on each floor. I love the Shark, but it has a tendency to get stuff clogged in its handle. I can unclog the Dyson with a broom handle, but I’ve had to get the Shark professionally unclogged because the handle is curved. Today I discovered I can fit the hose of the Dyson inside the handle of the Shark, and the Dyson is powerful enough to suck the clog out of the Shark. It makes for a good comparison of the relative power of the two machines. And, yes, I’m a nerd.

  55. 1539days says:

ABC had some weird astronomer with tattoos on her arms in Illinois. That place got boned by cloud cover.

  56. Somebody says:

We are socked in with clouds. The radar showed clouds building around 2:20 and then they spread out in a circle surrounding Jacksonville, Florida……..figures. Maybe those inside the circle near downtown got a view, but I doubt it. We’re in heavy thunderstorms and quite frankly it doesn’t seem any darker outside than it does during a normal thunderstorm…….total bust.

    • 1539days says:

I actually got a couple of decent cell phone pictures of my 70% totality. In 2024, I’m right in the path, baby!

It’ll probably be snowing that day.

  57. 1539days says:

    And just for good measure.

    • lateblum says:

      Well now, *that’s* cool.
We had bigly cloud coverage here today. Oddly enough, there was just the tiniest break on the cloud overage at just the right time. I was at a last minute appointment, but I had the glasses with me. So I took the glasses out and went into the parking lot, taking the people who were at the place with me. I shared the glasses with the four other women who were there. Everyone was so excited to see what looked like a crescent moon peeking through the clouds – in the middle of the day. Especially since they never anticipated being able to view even a second of the eclipse. It was truly a nice moment. You should’ve seen how excited they all were. Really we barely saw much. Yet it was cool. 5 women, standing in the middle of a parking lot on a mostly cloudy day, sharing some weird 3-D looking glasses, looking at a slice of clearness in the sky. Now, as I write this, the sun is beaming!
