Just think of this as an extension of the old thread.

Is anyone planning of reading Hillary’s book? Here’s NPR’s book review…..

The question many readers may have — especially those who want to forget the most vitriolic election of the modern era — is whether it’s worth reading.

Ultimately, the book might be a historical artifact most of all — the chronicling of what, exactly, it was like to run for president as the first woman major-party candidate (and, yes, a Clinton as well). Plenty may disagree with Clinton’s opinions on what went wrong for her, but her story will still be an important part of that history when America looks back on the melee that was the 2016 election.

But here’s what the book is not: It’s not newsy. There isn’t much here in the way of dirt, unless you count revelations on the level of Bill Clinton’s love for NCIS: Los Angeles.

    Read the whole thing here….

    http://www.npr.org/2017/09/12/549566749/who-is-what-happened-for-maybe-hillary-clinton-most-of-all

IMO, from the snippets and reviews I’ve read, this is going to depress the hell out of her supporters even more.

    • swanspirit says:

I have serious Clinton fatigue. Even some of the snippets make me tired. I think what saddens me the most, is she is so self-righteous, while not being held accountable for actual crimes. I am sorry she is part of this country.
Also, no one cared that Sarah Palin was the first woman to run on a major ticket; they trashed her and ran her out of office, and she committed no crime.
Hillary can take her history and shove it. She belongs in jail.

      • elliesmom says:

Actually it was Geraldine Ferraro who was first, but that you forgot her is supportive of my observation just below. 😉

        • swanspirit says:

Ah, you are right, and I am sorry I forgot to include her, especially since she was so courageous in making that statement about Hussein not being the candidate if he had been white.

        • DeniseVB says:

Also, Hillary fired Ferraro in 2008 for saying what we were all thinking “Obama wouldn’t be on that stage if he were white”. I rooted for Hillary over Obama that year and that firing really bummed me out because we knew that she meant he had no personal or professional accomplishments….at all. At least Hillary was a known entity, she could have drawn attention to Obama’s dismal career up to that point. But no, she allowed him to play the race card over and over, which we would be subject to for the next 8 years.

I still don’t understand why the Dems pushed Obama on us. A Hillary/Obama ticket might have handed them the white house for the next 16 years.

          • lyn says:

That’s what I remind those who hate Trump, but it bounces off their little brains.

          • Constance says:

Obama was pushed by Kennedy as he was dying but was refusing to leave the stage (kind of like McCain is now). The Kennedy clan and the Clinton clan were competitors for power and if Hillary got the 2008 nomination that would have made the Clinton faction more powerful than the Kennedy clan.

          • Mt.Laurel says:

Not sure they would have made it 16 years. May have ended up with the Clintfields and McBamas shooting it out between the WH and the Navel Observatory.

I think they wanted Barry to go first so no one had time to get those records opened – you know – like the way he managed to get rid of opponents. I do wonder what they had on the Clintons that they gave in because Hillary has really gone over the edge not getting her promised coronation.

          • lateblum says:

            Mt.Laurel,
That is such good thinking… keeping bronco bama’s secrets from exposure. They must’ve been wild.especially since the hints of murder and fraud and sexual misconduct of the Clintons were openly discussed and somehow, found to be okay.

    • elliesmom says:

Hillary Clinton will remain historically significant until a woman actually becomes president. Who remembers the people who almost won anything after someone does? Then she’ll join the ranks of Victoria Woodhull, Margaret Chase-Smith and others whose names are only important to historians and those of us who have been hopeful we’ll see a woman be president in our lifetime. This book will get assigned a number and entered into the Library of Congress whether any of us read it or not. Maybe some scholar in the future will find it informative of something. Personally, I’m not interested. I moved on from Hillary Clinton in 2008. Running again was her first mistake. All of her other ones could have been avoided if she hadn’t made that one. 😉

    • Anthony says:

I’m not going to buy the book and if someone buys it for me, I doubt I’ll read it. Everyone in the world can write a book if what they should’ve said or done at key moments in the past. What really matters is what you did say or do at those moments.

This book sounds like an alternative narrative of “What Happened” rather than what really happened. In reality, Hillary abandoned the platform that motivated so many of us to support her in 2008 and swapped it out for Obama’s failed policy, promising to “continue and expand upon” Obama’s agenda. That (Obama’s) agenda was rejected soundly by everyone, including his supporters who would admit their disappointment in his results but then ironically come up with excuses to ‘give him more time, give him a chance to succeed’.

In short, Hillary Clinton’s “What Happened” is really just a whole lot of “Fake News”

      (mic drop)

      • DeniseVB says:

I won’t have to buy the book, reading the excerpts via twitter is about all I can handle. This can’t be helping the Dems, who she also blames 😀

She’s on The View today. I’m going to watch it. Pray for me.

          • lateblum says:

            Anthony,
You’re either a hero or a fool. There’s such a fine line separating the two. I had thought of watching The View. It would’ve been the first time, ever. I decided I’m not interested enough to do that to myself. I was up nearly all night due to a pretty bad cold – or sinus infection. If I were to turn on The View, I might get sicker and what fun would that be? Be certain to check in here and let us know you survived. 💜 ❤️ 💜

          • Anthony says:

Behold, I walked into the belly of the beast and remain unscathed. I did have a few belly laughs, for the beast was miraculously transformed int o a joke. I’m neither a hero nor a fool. I just wanted to see her surrounded by her most supportive pack of hyenas because it would be the most accurate prediction of things to come with this broken and tone dead woman. Conclusion: She’s planning on running in 2020

          • DeniseVB says:

Can’t wait for the review. Was it a love fest?

          • Anthony says:

    • Lulu says:

Hillary is displaying the symptoms of a “scorned woman”. She cannot take rejection although she can dish it out with a shovel. She is past the incredulous (how can anyone, everyone NOT want fabulous me!), past the fury (how dare you reject MOI!) and now entering the stalking phase making everyone miserable and embarrassed at her constantly showing up where she isn’t wanted. I guess the next phase will be she is a joke. Then committent to a mental facility or she dies.

      • Anthony says:

From her performance on The View this morning, I’d put my money on the mental facility AND another run in 2020. Audience almost all AA women, and the usual sniping by the harpies. Hillary still spouting the same gibberish – sexism, misogyny, etc. Puts blame squarely on Comey, and also a few more new excuses. Walked out to Kelly Clarkson “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”, thereby leaving biting the big one off the table. Dammit.

Nancy Pelosi says, “It’s an honor to be here with ‘the Dreamers,’” those three human props the Democrats drug up to provide a little window dressing for their pandering, hysterical rhetoric. I saw this last night and was so pi$$ed, I could not post.

I used to adjunct teaching for UM which I really enjoyed even thought the pay basically was below minimum wage if you actually put any effort in the preparation/grading. I stopped because UM really started pushing grading on a very sharp curve – to put it mildly. They also supported students who would report you for failing them for not bothering to show for class, do assignments or take tests. Nope – does not matter if they actually do the work, or heaven forbid learn something, give them an A. Especially those who can check certain boxes. This was for statistics courses – that were required before they could take upper level advanced research methodologies and decision making/quantitative analysis classes.

I never had this problem when I taught the same courses on military bases. Took over an ethics class for a prof who had been in a car accident and a couple students tried this – and of course missed the irony of their words and actions when juxtaposed with the coursework. It was a course sponsored by Walter Reed/Bethesda Navel (I loved those) and they (and the UM Review Committee) got chewed out by a two Generals and an Admiral. Fun times.

  25. taw46 says:

Hello to everyone, this has been one of the most stressful weeks of my life. We were to leave KW Thursday morning at 3:00 am, but the projection had Irma moving east. Thursday night NWS Key West was putting out alerts, saying you really should leave, it has shifted west. We left Friday night at 8:30. Five people, 2 dogs, and 3 cats. We had smooth trip, no weather, no traffic, and were able to find gas. That had been another problem Thursday and Friday, bumper to bumper traffic all over Florida and no gas. And 3 different friends we could stay with in Central Florida, all were being evacuated. And no hotel rooms available that would let us bring pets. It was all insane. (some friends left KW Fri night, some stayed in Cat 5 buildings. All safe.)

We ended up with friends in Satellite Beach who did not evacuate, as it would be less effects here than all of Florida – we still had a low Cat 2 hurricane. And that damn hurricane went on forever, winds for 3 days (hurricane force 8+ hrs). We lost power for about a day, still no cell service.

As for our house, it is still standing but lost lots of shingles. We were able to see NOAA satellite imagery of our neighborhood. I did not think it would be standing since the most extreme winds started at our Key through Big Pine Key. It made landfall just a few miles from us. We probably have water damage, but can’t get back into the Keys yet to take care of it. I am just glad to be alive.

    • taw46 says:

If we had stayed, we would have been in a neighbor’s house that was Cat 5 rated. It came through without a scratch. But we did not want to “test” it, especially the after effects. The Keys had no water, no power, no sewage, no cell service, no medical, no food. There are several military facilities in the Keys, so DOD has sent help. They have checked and cleared all bridges, cleared the massive debris off the roads, repaired two washed-out road sections. And brought in food, water, gas. Residents are being let in by zones, so far only Upper Keys. Middle Keys were devastated, many destroyed homes (mainly older structures). KW was extremely lucky that the most severe winds were 20 mi east. KW structures appear to be ok, a few homes were damaged or destroyed from large trees falling. Many big trees down. There was storm surge in some KW neighborhoods, 3+ ft. We don’t know yet if we had surge. Just heart-breaking to see what has happened to the Keys.

And I am concerned about the rest of Florida, but of course I have been Keys focused. I have no clue as to what is going on in the rest of the world/politics. Haven’t read anything other than Irma for a week. Hope all the Florida people here made out ok through the storm.

Thank you! I just couldn’t focus on anything but the emergency to get out, worrying about the friends who stayed or evacuated to the West Coast of FL, going through the hurricane, then trying to find out about the house. We have been so stressed, all of us. Thanks so much for the kind words!
