I’m Shocked (Not)

It’s a Democrat stronghold.

bout once a month, on a Friday or Saturday night, the Silicon Valley Technorati gather for a drug-heavy, sex-heavy party. Sometimes the venue is an epic mansion in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights; sometimes it’s a lavish home in the foothills of Atherton or Hillsborough. On special occasions, the guests will travel north to someone’s château in Napa Valley or to a private beachfront property in Malibu or to a boat off the coast of Ibiza, and the bacchanal will last an entire weekend. The places change, but many of the players and the purpose remain the same.

The stories I’ve been told by nearly two dozen people who have attended these events or have intimate knowledge of them are remarkable in a number of ways. Many participants don’t seem the least bit embarrassed, much less ashamed. On the contrary, they speak proudly about how they’re overturning traditions and paradigms in their private lives, just as they do in the technology world they rule. Like Julian Assange denouncing the nation-state, industry hotshots speak of these activities in a tone that is at once self-congratulatory and dismissive of criticism. Their behavior at these high-end parties is an extension of the progressiveness and open-mindedness—the audacity, if you will—that make founders think they can change the world. And they believe that their entitlement to disrupt doesn’t stop at technology; it extends to society as well. Few participants, however, have been willing to describe these scenes to me without a guarantee of anonymity.

If this were just confined to personal lives it would be one thing. But what happens at these sex parties—and in open relationships—unfortunately, doesn’t stay there. The freewheeling sex lives pursued by men in tech—from the elite down to the rank and file—have consequences for how business gets done in Silicon Valley.

Sex Parties of the Tech and Famous

From reports of those who have attended these parties, guests and hosts include powerful first-round investors, well-known entrepreneurs, and top executives. Some of them are the titans of the Valley, household names. The female guests have different qualifications. If you are attractive, willing, and (usually) young, you needn’t worry about your résumé or bank account. Some of the women work in tech in the Bay Area, but others come from Los Angeles and beyond, and are employed in symbiotic industries such as real estate, personal training, and public relations. In some scenarios, the ratio of women to wealthy men is roughly two to one, so the men have more than enough women to choose from. “You know when it’s that kind of party,” one male tech investor told me. “At normal tech parties, there are hardly any women. At these kinds of party, there are tons of them.”

I believe there is a critical story to tell about how the women who participate in these events are often marginalized, even if they attend of their own volition. One female investor who had heard of these parties before I approached her told me, “Women are participating in this culture to improve their lives. They are an underclass in Silicon Valley.” A male investor who works for one of the most powerful men in tech put it this way: “I see a lot of men leading people on, sleeping with a dozen women at the same time. But if each of the dozen women doesn’t care, is there any crime committed? You could say it’s disgusting but not illegal—it just perpetuates a culture that keeps women down.”

Ever seen “The Social Network,” the Mark Fuckerberg biopic about the founding of Facebook? Do you remember how they treated women in that movie? Tech business was a sausagefest and chicks were only there for sex. Lots of drugs and alcohol.

But hey, they make a buttload of money and they are loyal Democrats. They are entitled to a few indulgences, amirite?

Silicon Valley is just like Hollywood, but with geeks instead of glamor. These are the people who control much of our culture. Their voices are much louder than ours. These people are hypocritical scumbags who want to impose their professed (but not practiced) morality on us.

Do we really want them raising our children?

BaBAMMMM. And that my dear is why we know we are right–just look at the actions of those that say we are wrong. That day will live in infamy as the day I officially gave up my woman’s card. Now I am just a human trying to get by.
Wonder why no American feminist noted that the brave women in Iran–as they fight for their lives and for democracy–ripped their sheets off FIRST THING. Here of course wearing sheets is considered a right…..wonder if wearing shackles as a black slave is a right too. WAKE UP WOMEN STOP BEING SHEEPLE AND BE A PEOPLE!

When Trump told Billy Bush something along the lines of, “when you are rich & famous ‘you’ can grab them by the pussy”, I thought that he was generalizing about the culture of the rich & famous and not necessarily speaking about himself. Trump witnessed that hedonistic culture at Studio 54. Not being a drinker or drug user, he likely watched in fascination, but didn’t participate. He is a self-professed germaphobe after-all. He may be a hugger and cheek kisser, but doesn’t seem to be into group gropes.

    Sad kitty:

Several commenters suggested I post this piece about how the Russians invaded Facebook in 2016 and I am happy to oblige.

But there are a couple of things I want to point out. First, not to toot my own horn or anything but I’ve been warning people about the ability to game Facebook since 2008 or 2009. You only had to see what happened to DailyKos in 2007-8 to know how social media can be used to influence people. It’s worse whereever there is a “like” button on the page. Why? Because when you express an opinion that a malefactor wants and he “likes” you, it’s like a shot of dopamine to your neural reward system. You become like Sally Fields receiving her first Oscar. Before you know it, you’re throwing words like “neoliberal” and “corporatist” around without any idea what they mean. Go ahead, *somebody* on this blog define those words for me. You can’t. They are meaningless. But because you get liked when you use them, suddenly they take on a life of their own.

Second, you have no idea who your “friends” are. Again, not to toot my own horn but back in 2008 during the Democratic convention in Denver, this blog logged 52,000 unique page hits in one day. We have almost 13 million unique page hits since 2008. Now that might pale in comparison to Eschaton or Digby but back then we were hot spit. And I was getting hundreds of friend requests on Facebook. I have a Facebook account but I never use it. But even if I did, I don’t know 99% of the people who wanted to friend me on Facebook. And yet they would have the capacity to send me messages and post on my wall and influence me and my legitimate friends. Um, no. I saw what happened in 2008 when everyone lost their minds over Obama. I wasn’t going to let my unmonitored Facebook page be party to more undue influence.

If you have a Facebook account and you use it to post pics of your family and organize get togethers, great, knock yourself out. Eventually, you’ll start getting silly news articles and get liked for expressing an opinion and before you know it, you’ll think Hillary Clinton runs a pedophile sex ring out of a pizza joint. I sat next to a woman at a wedding in October 2016 who told me with a straight face that Hillary and Bill had murdered dozens of their political opponents and even some of their friends, like the Clintons had their own Chappaqua flavored Ton Ton Macoute. I can only imagine what they look like. Middle aged, a little frumpy, hiding ice picks in the deep pockets of their Mao jackets.

It was useless to tell this woman to get a grip. People are herd animals. The organized entities who put this crap on Facebook and carefully cultivate their targets know what they are doing. They know how much education you have and how likely you are to question your sources and know exactly how to flatter you and make you feel included in a big group of warm fuzzy people who think just like you do. They love bomb you like crazy and before you know it, you think that Hillary Clinton is just as bad as Donald Trump.

I warned people about Facebook but since I’ve been exiled to the Oort belt of the lefty blogosphere for saying in 2008 that Barack Obama was a corporate ladder climbing shmoozer who would be an ineffective and weak president, my voice doesn’t have the reach it used to.

I probably should have upped my presence on Facebook.

Maybe she should blow the horns of the people who did most of the work of building “her” blog. I can still remember when TC was “our” blog.

I used to drop by frequently but comment very seldom. I was already being tapped to write by a couple of other bloggers who turned out to be just as crazy or maybe more so. Then I opened The Sibyl Speaks and went crazy all on my own as the Obama years unfolded.

latest on the “royal” wedding. Is it on or off?

A little fit over not being allowed to use a priceless house and huge garden/royal mortuary as her reception locale. QEII is letting them use her own personal chapel, the ancient and historic St Georges, which she doesn’t seem to understand is a great honor. I’m starting to think this girl doesn’t know who she is dealing with. She is not Diana. She is not marrying the Prince of Wales.

      • helenk3 says:

I would not want Lizzy upset with me. She can freeze fire. Princess Pushy being divorced and marrying into the royal family is a big change in protocol. Ask Princess Margaret. To start demanding before you are married into the family not going to work.. She is starting out on both wrong feet. If the British press is against you already lost the battle

        • Lulu says:

Harry is totally dependent on his grandmother. For everything. His father is not king nor influential. QEII is strict. I think she was willing to go along to make him happy (he lost his mom, he tries hard most of the time, etc) but they have to follow the rules. Now she throws a snit. Not good. I was afraid when she was giving photo-shoots of yoga poses with her ass stuck out that she truly didn’t understand her new role and the palace told her NO!, knock it off, this isn’t Hollywood, royals don’t do that. It is kind of sad really. Harry isn’t important enough to get her out of a jam.

That’s interesting because she is known for begging, borrowing and stealing any news “get,” or interview, on whatever the hot topic of the day may be. But she’s saying no.

Isn’t this fascinating? Over 2000 years ago the Romans had their own version of Silicon Valley. People never change.

Baia was the Las Vegas of the Roman Empire – the place where the rich and powerful came to carry out their illicit affairs.

Rome’s ultra-wealthy took weekend trips here to party. Powerful statesmen built luxurious villas on its beach, with heated spas and mosaic-tiled pools where they could indulge their wildest desires. One resident even commissioned a nymphaeum – a private grotto surrounded by marble statues, dedicated solely to ‘earthly pleasure’.

Okra lost half her viewers just endorsing The Messiah over the First Woman President. I doubt her base is as strong as she thinks it is. Also surprised the Globes didn’t invite the Obamas to be presenters or something last night. Hollywood just looooooves the Obamas. 😛

      • mothy says:

I’m waiting to see what Taylor Swift has to say.

      • Lulu says:

I was one of them she lost although I watched mostly when I was sick. She is too physically lazy to run. And she has foot problems. She can’t walk in shoes much. I think her foot problems are part of the reason she is fat. And gluttony. LOL. She has BIG bones. She like adulation and the attention. She won’t run. She’s got her money and enjoys it too much and goofing now all she wants.

The Obamas are laying low. Hoping to stay out of the line of fire for Hill.

      • swanspirit says:

Okra lost me a long time ago. I waited for her to do a show on OJ, when he was accused of murder, and on trial. Never happened. She is a coward. She could have done the women in the black community a truly great service, because black women are abused, but it isn’t addressed.
Just like homicide, the black women in their community suffer more at the hands of their own. Domestic abuse goes unreported and unpunished, because ” there are too many black men in jail already” , so the women suffer, violent abuse, abandonment, lack of support, rape, and murder.
But the gospel according to Okrah, preaches once again, it’s whitey’s fault.
Then when she betrayed all women by supporting Obama, after they made her what she was and built her empire, I was thoroughly disgusted.
I don’t know why Okrah would want to become president. She would have to step down from being a saint.
O and good luck getting the male vote, white, black or Hispanic. These Hollywood people really live in a completely delusional bubble.

White House adviser Stephen Miller was escorted off the set of CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday after a contentious interview with host Jake Tapper.

Two sources close to the situation told Business Insider that after the taping was done Miller was asked to leave several times.

He ignored those requests and ultimately security was called and he was escorted out, the sources said.

    • Lulu says:

This sounds like a bullshit smear because he made Tapper look like a stupid goon. The White House should pull CNN’s press passes.

Just glancing at some of the news tidbits, seems the E! channel made history by asking “why are you wearing black” instead of “who are you wearing”. I think it was Debra Messing who pitched a tizzy fit over the question, maybe because she didn’t know why she was wearing black? LOL ! Hollyweird SJW’s !!!

      • Lulu says:

They are supposed to name the designer which is part of the deal to BORROW the super-expensive dresses. IF they don’t name them they won’t get any more BORROWED good dresses and have to buy their own and pick their own and be made fun of for looking like rag bags and train wrecks.

      • DeniseVB says:

Found it, Messing went into rant mode over equal pay. Wut?

        • Lulu says:

That is what she memorized. And the contract over her dress and naming the designer. LOL. Not the brightest bulb. Too hectory now that she is older and fewer roles around for her. All of them seem to do that now and it is getting boring.

      • lateblum says:

I actually saw that! I had just turned to E! to see what they were wearing when they got Messing on the red carpet landing. When she started to go into speechifying mode, it was clear something had thrown her off her “game” because of the halting way she spoke. As soon as I heard her bumble through “intersectional” I fled the station. I started laughing because it was clear she didn’t know WTF she was saying.
