I absolutely LOVE IT! Our President has once again gotten the lovers of open borders from both sides of the aisle to once again expose their faces that are hidden behind their masks.

How does anyone get into Rice if they’re this stupid. There were yuuuge numbers of white students fighting this fight too, many got just as beaten up. Heaven forbid you sat at that lunch counter in solidarity, you got spit on too.

😂. CNN repeatedly linked the term to certain countries, so every time you hear those country names, you will think “shithole”.

This has backfired so wonderfully. If anyone wants to see where the shit holes are just read the State Dept travel advisories. Mexico (five states anyway) rank equally with Syria. Most of Africa does too unfortunately. So I guess the State Dept is racist too.

I’m learning more and more what “foreign aid” means. Hush money, especially under Obama with possible kickbacks. The Swamp is DEEP worldwide.

How ya’ doing Ant’ny? Thought of you this week, dh had wrist surgery on Wednesday, pin through his wrist and hand for a couple of weeks. Doc loaded him up w/abx keflex and 80 oxycontin pills. I think I joked, dear lawd, street value about $50 a pill ? Honey, how much does it really hurt that a tylenol won’t help? My bad 😉

      • Anthony says:

Hi Denise – purposely waited til new thread was up before replying. Its a mixed bag. Physically, things are so bad they’re laughable, emotionally I’m staying buoyant and positive.

Started PT for my back injury this week, and I’m delighted with it. Feels good to be active again, and I can’t wait to get back on my balance board and start working out again. My 6-pack is history, but I can probably get it back in no time once I start up again.

The bad news is that my right knee has blown out. My back injury effects my left leg, and I guess I’ve been compensating with my right. My right knee has always been a little wonky, but this week, it went apeshit. Can’t take a step without a lot of pain, and wasn’t able to get an appt with a Dr until this coming Wednesday. I can only work from my home, and can’t take pain meds because I don’t want to alter my mental acuity while serving clients on the phone. Phone sessions start at about 4:30 am for Eastern European clients and end at 11pm or later for California clients.

Short version – doing as best as I can, and fuck my entire life!

“In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American … There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag … We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language … and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”

I’m going to assume their degrees are from shithole colleges that wouldn’t be called schools here???

    • Myiq2xu™ says:

New data from Nigeria’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) shows that between 2010 and 2015, of the 10 million applicants that sought entry into Nigerian tertiary institutions, only 26% gained admission.

The most obvious reason for this deficit is the capacity of local tertiary institutions compared to growing student populations. In total, there are around 150 private and public universities in Nigeria, with a capacity to carry 600,000 students. For a country with 180 million people, 62% of them 24 or younger, that’s nowhere near enough. In comparison, the US has over 5,000 higher education institutions, and a population of 319 million.

Given the lack of opportunities locally, some Nigerians opt for a foreign university degree, which can provide graduates with an edge in Nigeria’s competitive job market. But in a country where the minimum wage is only $57 per month, many can’t afford to pay for expensive foreign degrees. Online degrees from foreign schools are not an option either. Last September, Nigeria’s National University Commission said online degrees from foreign universities “are unacceptable.”

NBS data also reveals a huge gender gap in education in much of Nigeria. In Nigeria’s northeast, with some of the lowest literacy rates in country and longstanding cultural beliefs which deem education for girls a luxury, female students made up just a small portion of the total student population between 2010 and 2015.

It should be noted that Barack Obama Sr. was a foreign-exchange student from the shithole known as Kenya, and he returned home to after college to be with his wife and children.

    • Lulu says:

And every damn one of them were educated to improve their own country but they won’t go back and do it. So why do we pay for all these scholarships to improve third world countries when NONE of them will fulfill their obligation?

    • Constance says:

Well why don’t these educated people stay in their home countries and try to make something work there?

Yet, Hubby and I are headed there in a few weeks. They must put something in the water that makes us want to return. 😛

    • NewOrleans says:

New Orleans has always been – and will always be – a shithole.

It has some very appealing things about it – but it remains a shithole. Certainly not on the level of some of those 3rd world countries, but a shithole nonetheless.

  27. Somebody says:

Had a conversation with a young man in his 20’s this afternoon outside a restaurant where he works……smoke break. He was complaining about the overtime he is having to work. He said last year he couldn’t get enough hours now he has too many, 3 double shifts this week.

I replied, yes the economy is really picking up. He says, yes that old Trump is at least doing some things right, I can’t stand him but at least he is doing some good things, he seems to do good on the economy.

So I ask the young man why he can’t stand Trump. He doesn’t have an answer other than his personality and that he isn’t diplomatic. I point out the warm receptions he has received overseas, the trade deals he’s worked out. The young man says, well anything to do with money or the economy he’s great, but he just insulted a bunch of countries and that’s embarrassing, he’s an embarrassment. They should only let him deal with money issues.

He goes on to inform me how pleased he is with the tax cut and economic outlook. Apparently he got a 30% and his employer increased his 401K match by a third, add to that his taxes are going down……pleased as punch he is.

So I turn the conversation back to the hot topic of shitholes……I said to him……So you’re pleased with Trump’s economic policies but insulting Haiti is a bridge too far? He says well Haiti is a shithole, but the President shouldn’t say things like that. I push him again, so what other countries think is paramount to you….no he says I don’t care……so then why are you so concerned about the shithole comment, you’ve stated it is true Haiti is a shithole, you say you don’t care what other countries think so why is this so terrible……I don’t know just because it is I guess, I mean a lot of people are upset Trump said that…..Oh? Who is upset? People on Facebook and TV.

I asked him if he really thought those people were genuinely offended and upset……he says probably not. Then I said, so you got a 30% raise, a 30% increase in your 401K and your taxes went down all of which you credit Trump with, but you’re going to let a bunch of fake outrage on Facebook cause you not to support the very man you credit with all these wonderful things? Um, well like I said he does good with money stuff but he should stay away from all the other stuff and let his underlings handle those.

    OMFG……a brick wall!

It’s Friday!! A holiday weekend to boot! Drinks on me!

My father told me when I was a kid just how dirty India was and how they went to the bathroom in the streets

        • lateblum says:

Years ago, a family member worked at Sears in downtown Chicago. She told us that an Indian family was browsing in her department and rather than use the restroom, the woman squatted in the middle of an aisle and used the floor as a toilet. The police were called and the family was escorted out of the store. That was all the info we ever heard about the family.

          • taw46 says:

Same thing happened when I worked at Kennedy Space Center, at the Visitor Center. It happened more than once, at least they went in the corner, not in the middle of the floor. Security said it happened quite often, I couldn’t believe it.

      Ick and Wow.

    • elliesmom says:

I listened to her talk. At the beginning I thought, “It’s not that hard to build an outhouse. What’s the big deal? Couldn’t the village pitch in and buy a shared shovel?” Then when she said the problem is it’s “beneath” people to clean out the outhouse every year or so, I started scratching my head. It’s too low class to shovel out an outhouse, but it’s not low class to squat out in a field like the animals? I admit there are some cultures I just don’t understand, and I’m not sure I’m all that interested in trying. If that makes me a racist, I’m OK with it.

      • mothy says:

Why not dig new ones regularly. Cover the old ones with dirt?

        • elliesmom says:

I thought the same thing. When I was 9, my grandmother took me to her childhood home for the summer. My great uncle and his wife lived in the same house she had grown up in so it was a real “going home”. There was a big celebration that summer when the house became the first one in town to have indoor plumbing. When we went back the next year, half the town could flush. No one was defecating in the fields. They all had reasonable outhouses, but moving up to an indoor bathroom only needed a gentle push. They weren’t fancy. Just a toilet in a closet, but the people saw the distinct advantage.

Obama quote, “If only everyone could be like the Scandinavians, this would all be easy.”

But over the next three years, as the Arab Spring gave up its early promise, and brutality and dysfunction overwhelmed the Middle East, the president grew disillusioned. ………….

In recent days, the president has taken to joking privately, “All I need in the Middle East is a few smart autocrats.” Obama has always had a fondness for pragmatic, emotionally contained technocrats, telling aides, “If only everyone could be like the Scandinavians, this would all be easy.”

Following President Trump’s Thursday comments, it’s worth noting that former President Obama called the African country of Libya a “shit show” just two years ago.

Mess is the president’s diplomatic term for what U.S. intervention left behind in Libya; privately, he calls it a “shit show”, in part because it’s subsequently become an isis haven. It became a shit show, Obama believes, for reasons that had less to do with American incompetence than with the passivity of America’s allies and with the obdurate power of tribalism.

The comments were recorded in an interview with The Atlantic. The wide-ranging interview was based on Obama’s foreign policy over his eight years in office. The comments received little coverage when made public at the end of Obama’s term.
