I am wondering just how important is it for a business to have a NYC address? How much would ii hurt business in the era of computers to move say to upstate NY?

Omg Tull kept me sane in the 70’s. Here’s an excellent live performance of one of my favorite Tull tunes

    • DandyTIger says:

Same here. Locomotive Breath was especially a favorite because I was indeed in bed and having fun with my best friends mate. I lived dangerously back then. Now I just fly planes with open cockpits. Much safer, seriously, it is.

      • Anthony says:

LMAO I hear you. I often wonder how I (or any of us, really) got out alive

        • Cisco says:

Saw Tull live in concert while in Germany about 68′, 69′
Smoked a little hash that was so readily available.
So comrade, that’s what we called the Germans and that’s what they called us in friendship.
So he holds out his hand and there’s about 4 or 5 pills in it, small white ones.
I ask what are they, I was soooo causes back then, snark, and he says old people take them to climb up steep stairs and surrounding hills.
Cool, thanks, I better take two there so small.
I spent the rest of the night and early morning speeding my brains out.
          Whew!

    • Island Girl says:

Tull-a-Vision seriously the first big screen concert ever for me, probably many as it was so long ago. Awesome concert, wore that aqualung tank top proudly many many years,LA daze.

  5. Myiq2xu™ says:

If you listen close you can hear them scream.

    • Cisco says:

Yea, that’s the only reason I boil them.
      I don’t eat them.
      😈

    • elliesmom says:

The “scream” is just air rushing out of their shell. Lobsters have no vocal cords. If you start them in cold water, the air doesn’t rush out all at once. The lobsters appear to just fall asleep. Or you can kill them like you’re doing a partial birth abortion and stick a knife between their head and their body. That should be “humane”, right?
Our refrigerator has a drawer in between the fridge part and the freezer. Elliesdad keeps his beer there. We had a lobster bake at our house on the 4th. I emptied out the drawer the night before and filled it with the live lobsters. I know I told him I did that, but he wandered into the kitchen late at night, didn’t put a light on, and stuck his hand in to get a beer. He got a surprise. They were still moving around in there. 😉

      • Myiq2xu™ says:

When I scream there is air rushing out of me too.

      • swanspirit says:

Many years ago, when my son was still a teen, he went crabbing with his friends. He left the live crabs in a bucket, by the back door in the kitchen. To get into my kitchen, you have to step down one step from stair landing.
When I came home from work, I went to step down into my kitchen. The floor was covered with live blue crabs, scuttling around, waving their claws in the air. Yes. I screamed. Yes, there were some days my son thought his name was gawdammitShawn!!
Do live crabs feel pain when they are steamed? I don’t know.

        • elliesmom says:

It takes a lobster or a crab about 3 minutes to die in boiling water. I don’t lose any sleep over it. They’re the cockroaches of the ocean. More closely related to scorpions, but they behave like roaches. When I went to culinary school, they taught us how to kill lobsters with a big knife. I still throw mine in the pot, but I start them in cold water. By the time the water is hot enough to kill them, they’re in a coma. There aren’t many animals we’re expected to kill ourselves before we cook and eat them anymore. If someone is too squeamish to do it or too compassionate, he won’t die w/o eating shellfish and crustaceans. More for the rest of us who are apparently morally deficient enough to be realistic about what happens to the things we eat before they reach our plates.

I looked at the company site. I’m no certain it is still operation. There were very few “testimonials”. The blog had even fewer entries and the most recent one was in 2016 iirc. She talks about training a team but there were only 2 additional names mentioned on the “about” page. I’ll have to ask dd#1 if she’s ever heard of the company or the person. She’s been involved in tech for over 20 yrs.
BTW: This article was from January of 2017. Her demonstration of bigotry and ignorance was probably apparent long before then.

I always remember a comment made during the 60s about the mini skirts. mini skirts and orthopedic shoes do not go well together. There comes a time in every woman’s life where dressing like a teenager does not become them. You can look great and classy at any age with the right style

Illinois, New Jersey, and New York Are Top States For Outbound Moves in 2017
Tax Foundation says taxes can influence decision to move

United Van Lines, which tracks state-to-state migration patterns, found that Illinois was the top state for outbound migration with 63 percent of moves going out of state.

“The Northeast continues to experience a moving deficit with New Jersey (63 percent outbound), New York (61 percent) and Connecticut (57 percent) making the list of top outbound states for the third consecutive year,” the report states. “Massachusetts (56 percent) also joined the top outbound list this year.”

    • Jeffhas says:

I pass by this often – it’s mind bogglingly huge… there are mini versions of this all over So. Cal., and a surprisingly dirtier and more dangerous version in Downtown L. A. near where I used to work many years ago; multimillion dollar apartment buildings and business towers going up – but if you walk a few blocks North, South, East or West, you take your life in your own hands.

We were routed through downtown Baltimore by the car navigation in September. It was terrifying. We fixed the nav issue. It was ‘helping’ us avoid tolls. I’ll pay the 4 dollars for a lower chance of being shot at a stoplight.

  32. John Denney says:

I started accompanying my friend’s daughter on guitar when she started playing flute in 4th grade.

We played pretty much every week-end until about the time she was in High School.

We were awesome by then, and “Locomotive Breath” was one of my favorites.

She went on to college and got a degree in music, moved to San Francisco and had her own chamber music group.

She’s in her 30s now, and got married outdoors in Palm Springs last month, and surprised her husband and the entire audience at the end of the ceremony when all her musician friends whipped out their concealed instruments and played a piece composed by one of her musical friends. It was the Beatles, “All You Need Is Love” segueing into Frankie Valli’s, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You”, arranged for brass, woodwinds, violin, viola, choir, . . . and one rock guitar: me. 🙂

    • Jeffhas says:

THAT is a lovely story… thank you!

      • John Denney says:

        Glad you enjoyed it.
It was a challenge to hide a guitar and amp, so I sat in the last row in the back on the left, about 20 feet from a “dead space” between the building behind me and the property fence/wall where I had placed my guitar in a stand and covered it with a towel. My part didn’t come in until about 40 seconds into the song, which gave me time to run back there and get ready to play. But in doing so, I missed the action in the wedding party, which the bride’s father later told me about.
One of the bridesmaids had stashed three flutes under her dress: her’s, another bridesmaid’s, and the bride’s. On cue, she pulled out all three, tossed the bride’s to her, spinning it like a baton, and the bride caught it and began playing.
Her father about had a heart attack, because it was a $23,000 flute!
