This is Anthony’s excellent post-SOTU piece.
A little Monday Morning Quarterbacking, Thursday edition:
Yes, it was a great and inspirational SOTU. A lot of powerful statements, stories of American grit, etc. but I think the greatest accomplishment of the SOTU is what it revealed about the Democrats. I’m not referring to the unified resistance to anything Trump as evidenced by the lack of applause and sour, dour faces in the audience. I’m talking about the Democratic response(es) and what it (they) revealed.
Let’s start with the number of Dem responses – usually, the Democrats coalesce around one speaker delivering one message that is their unified message that defines their party. Last night, the disarray and division in the Democrat.party was never more apparent. There were FIVE responses representing FIVE different points of view.
In short, the effort to feast upon the bones of the POTUS they promised to deligitimize was thwarted. The cannabilistic Dem constituents were instead served Chairman Mao’s Bitter Snark 5 Different Ways, thus transforming the promised sumptuous feast into a gimmick item you’d find on a third rate Chinese takeout joint.
The party is in chaos, and can’t seem to agree upon a direction or message that will grow their party by attracting the Independents who determine the results of mid term elections. Instead, they are (irrevocably?) fractured from within, and not because of President Trump, but because the protected class of minorities that the Dems have carefully groomed for decades have made public their disdain for America and anything American. Don’t believe me? Check out Joy Reid’s Twitter feed. She is appalled at God, Country, the Military, anything American and the thriving economy. I bet she hates Apple Pie too.
The Dem establishment, who’s message so far has been all about white guilt, ending political dynasties, racial division and hastening the death of rich white men chose a dynastic rich white man to deliver the establishment response. Did your neck just snap from the impact of that? Mine did…
Another revelation was the authentic solidarity and unification among the Republican party members. Even those who were on the fence if not outright grumbling about President Trumps victory last November are now loudly applauding and celebrating the victory he brought their braIn dead party. He taught them how to fight, and that by “punching back ten times harder”, you can actually win. THAT shows true leadership, and I couldn’t be happier.
Bush Republicans and their support of GHWB’s NWO are officially extinct. Enter the Trump Republicans – common sense, center right pragmatists with vitality and a desire to roll up their sleeves and just get the job of governing done. Totally energized and raring to go. Finally.
Which brings me to my tentative and conditional prediction: The Democrats will be soundly defeated in the mid terms if they don’t get their shit together. The other condition for a Trump (not Republican) victory in the mid terms is that jerkoffs like Jeff Flake, John McCain and Egg McMuffin, to name just a few, be denounced and shunned by the rest of the party.
