The Museum of the Bible which opened recently right near the federal Triangle in D.C. is on my to do list for my next field trip to the Mall but I had not really heard much personal feedback other than people griping about those religious nuts.
However, A recently retired colleague of mine came in today for lunch. She has signed up to volunteer at the museum along with several fellow church members and has been doing her training and says it is an incredible experience . She and the others from her church and other present from other denominations agree that they have done an excellent job to make it about the Bible itself and its place in history of civilization and in literature and it well worth a visit if you are in town.

I’m a Christian, I do hot yoga (if you don’t end the class needing a defibrillator, you might as well stay home), and the only in-class worship I do is to pray that the teacher will end Triangle pose before I have heatstroke. There’s some mild woo about ‘setting an intention for your practice’ but I settle on ‘not having heatstroke’ and carry on.
It helps my back, joints, and anxiety, much like water aerobics.

Yoga provides a good stretch and strengthens muscles. Similarly, tai chi is a gentle workout that loosens stiff joints, strengthens muscles, and improves balance.
While doing either, I like to quiet my mind and concentrate on what I hear, feel, and smell, simply being at peace and very aware of my surroundings – cricket chirps, the feel of a breath of breeze through the window, the scent of flowers it brings, simply enjoying God’s creation.
But this doofus suggests an elliptical machine instead of yoga, yet it’s a completely different workout!
I’ve appreciated yoga/stretching since I was a teen and saw an article about it blazoned on the cover of my sister’s teen girl magazine. I learned positions from the article and found they were wonderful to do before bed after a tough physical day, like wrestling practice in High School or shoveling dirt all day doing road construction. It relaxes the muscles, making sleep much more refreshing, and seems to reduce delayed onset muscle soreness.
BTW, one of my positions does indeed look like I’m bowing toward Mecca, stretching the lats, triceps, and lower back. So what? Big deal.
It seems to be the last dregs of Holder, Comey, McCabe making a last stand. Next they will break out in “Men of Harlech” as the Deplorables breach the battlements.
