I don’t plan on watching it and I’m not doing anything special but I might watch the 2nd half if it’s close or the Iggles are winning. Purely for scientific reasons. And the commercials.
I will not watch pregame or halftime shows. I will not sit and listen to idiotic jibber-jabber from announcers. If I watch, I will use my DVR so I can FF thru the jibjab. Normally I would FF thru the commercials but this is the one time of year I don’t want to do that.
Most importantly, I WILL NOT watch Tuck Rule Tommy win another you-know-what. Unless he pulls off another 4th quarter miracle like last year. Is Nick Foles another Eli Manning or is he a Cam Newton?
Anyway, whoopee. Spring training starts in a few weeks.

My niece has been having some digestive issues and has decided to try a diet of only “clean” food. Now I admit to eating some dirty food in my life. As kids on a farm, we would pick tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, string beans and other food you can eat raw and just give it a quick run under the hose before we ate it. I’ve never had tomatoes that tasted like that anywhere else, even if they occasionally had a little grit, but I know that’s not what she means.
After pretending to take offense at the idea I cook in a dirty kitchen, (You can eat off my floors, and we often do) I asked her what she thought not eating things like white flour would do for her. She doesn’t know except it will make her feel more in control of her life. While her brother melts on a regular basis, she’s not a snowflake. She just feels like the world is spinning out of control. She needs to feel like she’s in control of something, and food is easy. She did laugh when I said I knew how to make “clean ice cream”. She and her fiance have so much going for them. She owns a doggie day care and training business, and he has his own fleet of septic trucks. They’re both under 30, and they just bought a beautiful little house on Cape Cod. The wedding is this spring. If she feels like this, how are young folks with a lot less going for them coping?
It’s a perspectives thing. Apparently you only get perspective after you reach……85 years old maybe?
“Food” issues are almost always about control or feelings of the loss of control. There are some people who have true allergies to certain things of course but most are not even true allergies. This is known about bulimics and anorexics and other obsessives. How do I know this? I had a nutritionist/psychologist when I was in chemo. I had BOTH physical and control issues! Not fun. Food in a society of excess is one of the first things that people go to to control.
I try to eat as clean as I can. If the foods are whole, and I process them myself, I know what’s in them. Whit flour, sugars, pastas, chips, cakes, breads and the like, you just can’t tell. If they’re getting ingredients made in China then double suspicion entails. And you just don’t know unless you do it yourself.
But I do have an occasional donut because sometimes you just gotta take a risk. Lol

There are no politics in Puppy Bowl. This year, they had an inaugural Dog Bowl, showcasing adult – senior dogs. It was very sweet.
I keep planning to take a break from pet ownership after the 3 kitties pass, but I see something like Dog Bowl, and I want to get a semi-truck, back it up to the shelter and go ‘Everyone’s coming with me, and we’ll just make it work’.
I know there’s a Kitten Bowl, but the hosts are really annoying.
I was going to take a break when Samantha died, but I was so miserable the family begged me to get another dog. I have a friend who would like me to volunteer at the local shelter with her, but I don’t think I have enough room for all the pets I would bring home. After taking care of Rosie, the puppy who was going to the newly fostered child, I think I could foster a dog or a cat and hand it off to a good home. That turned out not to be as difficult as I thought it would be. We had the puppy back for an overnight last week, and that was a lot of fun, but I knew from the start she wasn’t mine.
I’m considering fostering, especially when I retire.

there is more information on the train crash. It was not a sideswipe. it was a head on and the Amtrak engineer and fireman were killed. There is really something wrong here. someone lined the train into a siding where there was an empty CSX train. There was a padlock on the switch. Apparently this did not show up on the CSX train dispatcher’s computer. With a padlock on the switch the dispatcher could not have lined them in. This really has to be investigated.
On the computer there are lights showing the tracks and how they are lined. You can see the train movement on the computer. The thrown switch should have shown how it was lined.

what’s with all these crashes…
the several days ago with the republicans a truck got stuck on the tracks. Why it was there I do not know as the tracks and crossings were supposed to be clear and the train have right of way without stopping. For safety sake. The truck stopped on the tracks and it was too late for the train to stop in time.
The one today is really odd. there is no way that switch should have been lined into the siding with a padlock on it. The train dispatcher’s screen should have shown how the switch was lined. There really needs to be an investigation on this one.

I didn’t mean to, but I knocked over a big display of kraft ranch salad dressing. Hit it with my buggy rounding a corner a little too close. The whole thing came toppling down, salad dressing bottles everywhere. It was like something you’d see in the movies.
I always thought such things in the movies went down too easily and that would never happen in real life. Well I guess I was wrong because I barely tapped it and down it all came. Everybody in the store stared, I laughed. My husband shrugged and said “women drivers”.

I would never be caught buying instant grits! I will share a tip. In the refrigerated section near the grab and go pre-made sides there is a brand of grab and go grits. Gracious grits.
The only flavor they have that is worth buying are the cheese grits. You microwave them for a minute and a half, they are pre-cooked. They are the proper consistency and taste pretty good if you add a little butter and cheese. Their other flavors are NOT good, the creamy flavor tastes like it has sugar in it.
That is as close as I have ever come to instant grits. I got a couple for free when they 1st came out. I purchased a couple more since then. Down side is there must be 6 servings or so in a container so it is wasteful for the 2 of us…….but it is a way for hubby to make grits that works!
You could say that you thought it was Russian dressing and took it out before it could co-opt the lettuce.
