GoFundMe Changes The Rules When They Feel Like It

Believe it or not he has raised over $380,000 in less than 24 hours.

But wait! There’s more!

GoFundMe Changes Terms to Quell Crime-Related Crowdfunding

As had happened last month with the campaign to raise funds to support South Carolina police officer Michael Slager in his defense in the shooting death of Walter Scott, crowdfunding site GoFundMe has removed the fundraising page for the Maryland officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray. As reported in the Baltimore Sun, spokeswoman for GoFundMe Kelsea Little said:

“GoFundMe removed the fundraising campaign created for the Baltimore police officers involved in the death of Freddie Gray. GoFundMe cannot be used to benefit those who are charged with serious violations of the law. The campaign clearly stated that the money raised would be used to assist the officers with their legal fees, which is a direct violation of GoFundMe’s terms. Specifically, ‘campaigns in defense of formal charges or claims of heinous crimes, violent, hateful, sexual or discriminatory acts’ are not permitted on GoFundMe.”

What’s interesting here is that the terms as linked above reflect a recent change on the part of GoFundMe—the words “or claims” were added on April 29th, as detailed on the site’s blog. What this means is that it’s no longer necessary for criminal charges to be filed for this term of service to be breached. GoFundMe can now pull down a page connected to defense against civil suits—such as those concerning the violation of state anti-discrimination laws, or the kind filed last month by the parents of Ferguson’s Michael Brown.

Consider the case of the Christian bakers and faith-based florists who refused service to same-sex weddings. Both had fundraising campaigns started to support them; both had those efforts stopped by GoFundMe. The Daily Signal, a news site founded by the conservative 501(c)(3) Heritage Foundation, asserts that the site closed these campaigns down in violation of the previous set of conditions, prompting the change.

I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

GoFundMe can now be called GoBailMe. It is going to be very classy though.

By assigning the Utah prosecutor, a rube/non Ivy law school, from Utah who was a state prosecutor then an asst federal DA under the Bush Administration then a US DA under Obama from 2015 because they couldn’t locate any swamp creatures in Utah, the swamp isn’t going to get a political hack assigned thus the Oh the Humanity! The guy is a career prosecutor and not a revolving door Clinton/Obama aparachnik. How horrible! This guy has been down on the Texas border this year recommending MAXIMUM sentences in drug cases and how to prosecute them. It looks like he is a specialist at stacking charges for 25-50 year sentences. He’s a “rot in jail” prosecutor.

      Good to know.

      • Lulu says:

I really think Huber is going through the evidence of the OIG and lining up charges. This will be to scare the shit out of them with massive lists of crimes and probable sentences (stacking), frighten them to plead and co-operate as well as rat each other out, and then go meekly to jail for reduced sentences, no pensions, disbarment, etc. I really think a lot of the DOJ and FBI flunky types and lower level employees have already ratted out the shit-heads at the top and their enabler staff. They all seem to be a really nasty, snotty, kiss-up and kick-down lot of dumb bo-bos. I mean McCabe can’t even lie worth a damn and his boss Comey is nuts.

McCabe and wifey do not need go fund me. They are far better off than Flynn . But then they hav probably hidden most of their assets or transferred to kids names. Now they get to launder more 💰💰💰. Any small co tributaries are being taken for a ride and have no concept that they are the victims both of his criminal behavior on the job and this snow job of go fund me.

    • Mt.Laurel says:

Well auto correct strikes again. Although with that kind of money in only a few hours, I guess there is a river flowing into McCabe pockets.

And only yesterday HRC was complaining that one of the reasons she lost was because she was running “against big money”. She also said the press, etc “never” treated any man who lost his presidential campaign the way they are treating her. Hand to goddess, I wish she’d never learned to speak. She is sickening.

        • Propertius says:

She raised over a billion dollars – most of it from Wall Street, Hollywood, Silicon Valley, and the Hamptons. How is that “running against big money”?

      • Lulu says:

That is keep your f’ing mouth shut money. And not a traceable bribe like his idiot wife’s “political” contribution from Clinton Mafia INC. The moral preening from this asshole is free of charge. I hope he is sent to Seagoville fed pen and assigned to the lawn work crew to serve out his time in the 100 degree sun.

It’s Friday!!! Good Friday to be exact.

It hasn’t been a great Friday for me, but it’s getting better. I started out the morning snake charming. I took the middle grandchild to pre-K and left the little one here with my teen. While I was out I filled up with gas and ran by the grocery store so I don’t have to fight the crowds this weekend. When I came home as I stepped on my black front door mat it moved……SNAKE!! A really big snake.

I should have worn my glasses and I might have noticed it before I was right on top of it, wearing flip flops I might add. I managed to back away, it only turned and hissed at me. I tried unsuccessfully to scare it away from my front door. The entire time worried that someone inside would notice me outside and open the door…….snake in the house…big fear of mine.

In the end I went around and entered via the service door to my garage. Once inside I banged and banged on the front door and my visitor finally slithered away, took his sweet time too. This snake was somewhere between 7 and 8 feet long. I’m pretty sure it was an Indigo snake. Generally I don’t get close enough to snakes to determine what they are, but this morning I did. Of course I didn’t know what it was until well after my encounter when I started researching. Indigo snakes are non-poisonous and also an endangered species. They eat venomous snakes and it’s supposedly good luck to cross paths with one…..oh sure it is, guess I should buy a lotto ticket, eh?
