Rich Man’s WalMart, etc

dying-middle-class

All the usual media suspects have gone gaga over Donald Trump’s Twitter attacks on Jeff Bezo’s free shipping business model via Amazon. The editor of the WaPo even came out to denounce it. I’m LMAO because Amazon is nothing but a rich man’s WalMart and now these jokers are stuck defending it.

When the markets crash over the cost of bread, organic or otherwise, because some Wall Street assholes shorted it, these idiots will be on record with glowing reports about Whole Foods and shipping non-GMO cashews to their homes. I 💖 Amazon! And make no mistake, the commodity crash IS coming.

In other news, Donald Trump personally stopped 1,200 Central Americans on a PR tour caravaning with Pueblo Sin Fronteras (City without Borders) through Mexico who were on their way to confront our weak border. Turns out not even Mexicans like these immigrant assholes parading through their towns. Oh, was I insensitive? Well, everybody wants to help the needy until they get around some actually needy people. Then the reality sets in.

Donald Trump tweeted about this on Sunday, as usual with an offer Mexico couldn’t refuse, and on Monday Mexico addressed the problem.

I stopped reading and watching the news because all they do is lie. I stopped checking in on Twitter because all anybody, except Donald Trump, does is argue ineffectively. Trump owns Twitter and his tweets are the only thing worth reading there anymore if you ask me.

Fuck this shit. Go Trump!!

Hey Denise ~ I saw a brief interview on FBN this morning and thought of you. Sheila Tate has written a book entitled, “Lady in Red An Intimate Portrait of Nancy Reagan”. It sounded interesting and it sounded like your kind of book.

    • DeniseVB says:

Thanks for the suggestion ! I’m still stuck on Lady From Plains, Rosalyn Carter’s memoir reads slow like syrup in a southern sweet tea, or it could be me 😉 Nancy’s memoir was pow, pow, pow, didn’t hold a thing back, I couldn’t put it down 😀

      • Mt.Laurel says:

Nancy’s is a roller coaster ride and I heard her voice clearly throughout each chapter. It is obvious she provided the content, not some ghost writer and an editor hidden away in the attic of a Chicago house in the hood. Nor did she worry about offending people including the children most of whom took every opportunity to bash her and Ron as much as possible and often for $$$. Nancy is also pretty open about herself and why people reacted the way they did.

    • 49erDweet says:

I’m so old I still remember her as that cute Nancy Davis. Vavooom!

I love Amazon, too. Before the advent of Prime, I used to keep an open “shopping cart” and wait to place an order when I had enough in there to get free shipping. I admit now I hit purchase more frequently, but I’m still careful not to schedule a Sunday delivery unless I really need something that fast. I’d pay more for shipping to keep the service if the post office is taking a big hit financially, but I figure there are a lot of services the government subsidizes I don’t use and can’t use if even I wanted to. Amazon delivery service is at least available to everyone. When I was in Alaska, the residents said Amazon was the greatest thing to come to them in a long time. They don’t expect free delivery or fast delivery. They just appreciate having things available to them the rest of us take for granted.

    • taw46 says:

Same here in the Keys. There are no malls and no large chain stores like Wal-Mart, so people order online a lot. Otherwise, they would have to drive 3 hrs to Homestead.

    • DeniseVB says:

I think Bezos was allowed to get away with a lot under Obama. We’re already finding out Zuck was “paying” for big favors too. I keep wondering what the hell favors Weinstein gained by hiring Malia? Obama was a slimy one. Anyhow, not going to give up Amazon, FB or Twitter until I’m banned. 😀

    • 49erDweet says:

Color me crazy, but if the USPS has published rates why wouldn’t anyone with sense use those rates if they benefited their business? The problem was created by the USPS. Why can’t the USPS fix it? Or is this too simple an analysis?

      • elliesmom says:

After my spat with the post office because they refused to deliver something Amazon sent “Smartpost”, my mail delivery person explained to me Amazon gets a very special rate from the post office. She says the post office doesn’t pay overtime for Sunday delivery, and some of the boxes are larger or heavier than the workers’ contracts allow for. So the postal workers hate Amazon. I don’t want my packages left in a puddle so I didn’t argue with her.

        • 49erDweet says:

Thanks. From that it seems like it’s a problem of their own making. Granting “very special rates” backfired on USPS. My heart bleeds for them. /sarc/.

      • 1539days says:

The question is: If the USPS charged full price no exceptions, would Amazon make a deal with FedEx / UPS in exchange for exclusivity?
        Wal-Mart gets similar rates.

        • 49erDweet says:

Those are all business decisions. The USPS can’t have it both ways. Either they ARE a quasi business or they aren’t. Don’t make the term of agreements last too long.

TFW you are trying to launch a congealed snotrocket and you can feel its roots clinging bitterly deep inside your sinuses.

Yep – still thick. Now my sister is too. We had to postpone my birthday dinner.

    • lyn says:

Nasal rinse for you! Put 1/8 tsp in a cup of warmed distilled water and mix. Suck the water up your nostrils and spit it out. Do this several times.

      • John Denney says:

        1/8 tspn salt, I think.

      • Somebody says:

It’s just easier to buy simply saline by arm&hammer. It’s pre-mixed saline in an aerosol can, so easy to use. You can use it like a netty pot and then toss when you’re done.

Helpful tip, buy the baby version it’s small and usually cost less and is more than you’ll need.

If your nose is too clogged to properly blow your sinuses may be swollen. In which case Afrin nasal spray will clear. However you can’t use Afrin for more than 3 days or you’ll get a rebound effect. The newer, much more expensive nasal spray you can use daily for a year or more……like flonase or nasacourt.

    • cynic says:

Oh Klown, I feel for you. I started out the New Year with a doozy of a cold and didn’t leave the house for three straight weeks. We’re talking coughing all night, and blowing all day. I went through two full boxes of Kleenex. I was so weak from coughing, that I ended up pulling a muscle (the first day that I called off from babysitting duties), and the cold went into my sinuses. On the plus side, the sinus medicine also made the pulled muscle feel better.

Then, I ended up with a stye on my eye, which I have treated with warm cloths and drops for the last two months. It looks better, but will probably need to be slashed on the inside of my eye lid.

I have felt ‘good’ about 5 days this year. Yeesh

Oh, forgot to mention that I have something painfully wrong with my hand/wrist. Assuming it’s arthritis. Doing all the cooking for Easter was interesting this year. Even stirring a pot or opening a jar is painful.

Gee, I’m sounding horribly dull and depressing.

On a wonderful note, my son was accepted into the U of I’s Civil Engineering Program. Looks like that little family will be pulling up roots and moving to Champaign. He graduates in May from our local Community College with 3 Associates Degrees, and High Honors. Mind you, this is the kid that enlisted to avoid going to college.

      • DeniseVB says:

Hi cynic ! Never dull and depressing, getting older isn’t for pussies 😛 Congrats on your son’s accomplishments, they do surprise us. My son’s hoping the twins go into the military after h.s. and get that free G.I. school money….and mature a bit. Plus no way he can afford double the tuition. They’re in a JROTC program now hoping to get their feet in the door. So far they love it. Fingers crossed !

      • Somebody says:

Cynic, it is entirely possible you have a fracture. You aren’t as young as you used to be, none of us are. Your bones aren’t as strong as they used to be, lifting children all day taxes your bones.

When I started watching my grandbabies I ended up with stress fractures in both feet. I re-injured them twice before they finally healed. Basically a year of constant pain in my feet and of course I was on my feet more often than I had been in some time. If you haven’t yet, do yourself favor and get orthopedic inserts to wear while you are caring for the kids. Once they are about 3, you won’t be picking them up as much but until then heed my warning! The inserts also help with your knees and back believe it or not. I’m sure there is somewhere near you where you can be fitted.

Meanwhile, you might consider having your hand and wrist checked. There are a variety of tendon disorders that are quite painful too. Everybody know carpal tunnel, but there are others. Again you are taxing you’re body in ways it hasn’t been taxed in years.

Here we go. The orange WH occupant now putting out clearly untrue propaganda about Bezos, the owner of the Amazon and The Washington Post, in order to damage one of his detractors. The occupant is using all the dictator tricks he can to end democracy. I find myself praying for things that are clearly not Christian.

My solution is for Mexico give the top third of their country to the U.S. to create a new country. Call it Texamexifornizona, or T-Mexfa for short. Put all the “migrants” and “refugees” from sh*thole countries there. We’ll provide protection so they can settle safely, bonus, our wall will be shorter and cheaper. 🙂 Just not sure what that top third of Mexico would think about that 😉

Sidebar: Roseanne’s on tonight! I made the mistake of joining a closed group on FB, Roseanne Obsessed. I could only answer the first question of being a fan since her first gig on Johnny Carson, couldn’t answer the other two trivia questions from her first run, so I opted out, way too hard for me. Got accepted anyhow! Now I’m addicted. It’s the most non-political political group I’ve ever been a part of since I joined FB ions ago. It’s like finding a “new dig” in America’s anthropology. Funny as hell.

EXCLUSIVE — South Texas Border Patrol Agents Overwhelmed by Illegal Border Crossers, Says Agent

Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector continue to be overwhelmed by the numbers of illegal border crossers, they say. The sector continues to lead the nation in Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC), Family Unit Aliens (FMUA), and total apprehensions.

“A wall for this sector is necessary and needs to happen now,” Border Patrol Agent Chris Cabrera told Breitbart Texas in an interview. Cabrera spoke to Breitbart Texas in his capacity as vice president of the National Border Patrol Council Local 3307. “Walls will take time to build but there are things we need to do now, in the interim, to improve border security in this sector.”
