The boy next door applied to the VBPD and was just turned down for admitting to smoking marijuana in college during the past year. They said reapply next year? I’m surprised, that is, if he qualified for every other part of the application process, they’d use that as an excuse in this day and age when college and weed are pretty mainstream now.

The police already had to dumb down their testing since too many minorities were failing.

      • 49erDweet says:

You’re ignoring the issue that even a little weed permanently alters one’s brains. So basically he’s handicapped himself. Interesting that they told him to come back in a year. Many would never want him back.

When I was in college, I worked for the ROTC. Elliesdad used to drop in to walk me home after work. The Colonel, thinking he was more than just a boss, took it upon himself to check my boyfriend out to make sure he was good enough. He found out I was dating a “boy wonder” in the computer department, and started trying to recruit him hard. Elliesdad lost a kidney when he was a little boy, and it disqualified him from military service, but he would have been willing to serve. The Colonel tried very, very hard to get a waiver, and it just wasn’t happening. It was the height of the Vietnam War, and Elliesdad’s skills would have been an asset. He wasn’t disabled in any way, took no medication, didn’t need a special diet. The reason given was he had more potential for needing the Army to assume large medical expenses. The Colonel had taken it all the way to the Pentagon.

Trump Talks Stormy Daniels; Says He Didn’t Know About Payment

The president made the comments to reporters aboard Air Force One.

    • Dora says:

See what I mean? They are running with it.

    • Anthony says:

First of all, it wasn’t an “affair”. If it happened, which it probably did, it was just another pro turning a trick, and the trick just happened to be Trump. He didn’t admit to anything. He said he had no knowledge of the “affair” or the payment. He complied with the NDA, so this isn’t exactly a “gotcha” moment.

      • Dora says:

This is the part that made me nervous. They are out to get him.

Her attorney, Michael Avenatti, tweeted in response that, “We very much look forward to testing the truthfulness of Mr. Trump’s feigned lack of knowledge concerning the $130k payment as stated on Air Force One.”

“As history teaches us,” he added, “it is one thing to deceive the press and quite another to do so under oath.”

        • Anthony says:

Complying with an NDA is not the same as “feigned lack of knowledge”. Its simply complying with an agreement that the other party has broken. I can bet that in a short time, Stormy will be suing her lawyer. Every time she mentions the trick she turned, it costs her $1M

      • DeniseVB says:

Hard to believe Trump ever having to pay for sex, especially with a well worn hoochie-coochie. I still haven’t figured out why he married Marla Maples, she seemed too needy for his personality since she griped all the time about being lonely. Duh, the guy is a workaholic, has been all his life. I think that’s what eventually did him in with Ivana, he was just never there. I think Melania’s the independent woman he needed 🙂

        • Anthony says:

He didn’t pay for sex. The one hour stand happened 12 years ago, she started running her mouth about exposing it shortly before the election, his lawyer took care of it. Honoring the terms of an NDA are not even close to ‘lying’. Trump married Marla Maples because she was pregnant with Tiffany.

          • DeniseVB says:

That’s one way to snag a billionaire. Marla was set for life after that, though she continues to whine how hard it is to live off the settlement even though her net worth is 20 million. DJT took very good care of her and Tiffany. She’ll probably never re-marry, it would be too costly 😀

  2. Dora says:

That’t it for De Niro. He is off my list of favorites even if he did make a good Don Vito Corleone.

Robert De Niro Slams the NRA: ‘Things in Our Country Are So Bad, and It Comes From Trump’

The actor also told IndieWire that he has no interest in reaching across the aisle to opposing points of view.

    • DeniseVB says:

I don’t expect everybody to love Trump, but why throw his supporters under the bus? Didn’t DeNiro say he has no use for us? Well, fine, (snapping movie money wallet shut).

      • lyn says:

Lefties are obsessed with Trump supporters too. On FB after the Parkland shooting, a “friend” posted crap that started out: “Dear Trump Supporters, blah, blah, blah.”

    • Anthony says:

Actually, it comes from Obama. Look at the divided country he handed Trump. That didn’t happen overnight because of an election. It was well baked over the past 8 years. Can you see now why I’m on hiatus? The “stupid” out there is getting to be ridiculous. On the up side, my apartment was transformed from what looked like a month long battle with a poltergeist to an ad from Better Homes and Gardens. Amazing how much time you have on your hands once you stop buying into the bullshit on the news

      • DeniseVB says:

And yet, you keep sucking me into the New Day threads on FB ❤ I just love your responses over there !

      • Somebody says:

Oh my dear Anthony, I’m so J. Since your apartment is all done and you’re still on hiatus, I just hate for you to waste all that energy. Why not come down and enjoy some Florida sun😎 Win-win, you enjoy a sleepy Florida beach town and help me transform my place into a Better Homes and Garden ad 😄

Now don’t mind the kids they’re only here 11 to 12 hours a day, you’ll hardly notice them 😋 Tell me what are your ideas to transform modern kid clutter into BH&G?

  3. DeniseVB says:

Looks like tomorrow’s going to be sloppy at the Masters. And other places 😛

    • DandyTIger says:

Wow, that mix is pretty close to me. Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit taking amphetamines.

      • DeniseVB says:

Our local weather guys are using the ole’ STAY TUNED for updates on that wintry mix MIGHT hit the Tidewater. They’re even talking INCHES of rain. If 1 inch of rain = 10 inches of snow, it better stay rain!!!!!!

    • lateblum says:

It has already snowed here twice this week. It will be in the 30’s the rest of this weeks and for the next several days and into next week … I’m cold and sneezing and when my windows are even slightly open, I have to wear layers and layers of clothes and can’t wear my flip flops inside. 😦

      • DeniseVB says:

I just hope we get a Spring at all. We still have the upstairs unit on a/c and downstairs set to heat. I swear, there’s going to be a tornado in the stair well one of these freaky days. 80’s/30’s, what fresh hell Virginia! ?

Oh well, won’t be long before I’m bitching about the heat and humidity. Sigh.

        • lateblum says:

I finally moved the portable aç’s back into the apartment now the painting is done. Good thing I’m retired and have no deadlines to get my life back in order.

      • lyn says:

I’m watching the weather in Missoula, MT, to figure out how many jackets I need for my trip. Several years ago I bought a cool coat that would have worked for all weather types, but I forgot that the sleeves needed to be shortened. That’s too late now. 😦

        • lateblum says:

You leave soon. Right? I hope all goes well with this trip.

          • lyn says:

My current worry is that if the doctors’ offices call to remind my father about the appointments, he will cancel them. However, I do have a Plan B if my father does that: Fuck it and have fun. I’m staying at a B&B, and I have a rental car.

        • DeniseVB says:

Oh just roll up those sleeves like I have to do for my short “flipper” arms 😉 Enjoy the trip and safe travels !

    • elliesmom says:

I’m refusing to look out the window.

    • Myiq2xu™ says:

They done changed up the forecast on me. Now it’s just gonna “showers” all day. The original forecast was for an inch of rain and now it’s less than .25 inches.

      • Somebody says:

An inch of rain is your idea of a deluge? That’s not even a decent sized afternoon thunderstorm here in FL. 😏

Why should he give the WHPC the time of day? I saw Kathy Griffin is attending as a guest of some doofus “journalist”. Poor Sarah, it’s going to be a bashfest. Obama ruined those dinners too. Everything Obama touched turned to sh*t.

    • DeniseVB says:

Trying to find info on who is hosting and all I can come up with is some “regular” from The Daily Show who I’ve never heard of. Now the media is whining he won’t attend? Gee, I wonder why.

    • lyn says:

I would go to see Sarah!

Border Patrol agents overwhelmingly support Trump’s wall in new survey

Border Patrol agents say they can’t be much clearer: They want more walls along the U.S.-Mexico border.

In a survey conducted by the National Border Patrol Council, the agents’ union, they overwhelmingly supported adding a “wall system” in strategic locations, embracing President Trump’s argument that it will boost their ability to nab or deter would-be illegal immigrants.

NY is screwed, no matter which one wins.

Challenger Cynthia Nixon says she’d make New York a ‘sanctuary state,’ rips Gov. Cuomo for failing to get it done

    • DeniseVB says:

That won’t play well in Upstate. There are more rednecks up thar than down har 😉

      • Mt.Laurel says:

I do not think Cummundo is good for NY but I think the little hillary loving actress and card carrying member of the DiBlassio crowd would be even worse for the state. Actually, I think she would even be really bad for NYC. It is obvious she is nothing but a front person with most of the current agenda boxes checked.

  8. Dora says:

The other night Tucker asked a member of the City Council why he wants to tear down the statue of President William McKinley. His answer was that it was the only statue they have.

My local bakery makes the best croissants.

    • elliesmom says:

Cooking is art, but baking is science and engineering. I love to do both, but when I enter the kitchen, it’s two different mindsets. One involves wild abandon and taking risks, the other careful planning and precision. When we’re cooking, a recipe can be just a jumping off point. When we’re baking, changes to a recipe need to be carefully thought out. Croissants are a real test for a baker. They need just the right amount of butter at the right temperature to get all that flakey goodness without ending up greasy and soggy. Careful measuring makes them beautiful to look at.

      • DeniseVB says:

I have ruined many a box of frozen puff pastry, so I have mad respect for those who can make them from scratch.

        • elliesmom says:

There’s a simpler way to make a puff pastry that might not be quite as good as making the real thing from scratch, but it’s better or at least as good as the frozen stuff. I use my food processor on pulse to mix the dough. Crash likes to use the rolling pin I bought her, and she can do this. I give her about 1/3 of the dough to work. She likes to fill turnovers with raspberry pie filling. https://www.marthastewart.com/354144/rough-puff-pastry

      • Mt.Laurel says:

My mother always laughed that I would be more upset if a baking project failed than a dinner not quite coming together as planned. I would tell her that cooking is more open ended and you can usually salvage things on the spur of the moment because the rules are more fluid. Soup too watery – add a roux. Chicken a bit dry – make it into a fancy salad and let it set fin the dressing for a bit to absorb the moisture and flavor before serving on a bed of lettuce. But when baking goes south, it means the calculations were wrong and you have to go back and figure out just where you went wrong in the equation. There is no recovery from flopped popovers. Although I guess you could use in place of stale loaf to make bread pudding. With chocolate . . . 🍫🍫🍫

    • swanspirit says:

Just looking at that board he is using makes me weak in the knees. Oh my goddess the baking you could do on that. 💛 baking🎂🍩🍰🍪🍮🍝🍕🍣🍞!!!

West U is one of the most expensive, nasty, snotty, areas of Houston. The real money lives in River Oaks and Memorial. Most in West U are carpet-baggers or the offspring of such. Many are doctors and profs (who at least make an honest living) but the worst are the dregs and offsprings of once very weatlhty families from somewhere else. Remember that kid (really an adult) that had a house full of explosive material next door to his mother the art dealer? They moved from Michigan and were once extremely wealthy but degenerated to fakes and nuts. That is West U which is near the Texas Med Center and Rice U.

Holy crap. He’s got it all backwards. We have rights first, and the constitution is about limiting the government so it doesn’t encroach on those rights. Seriously embarrassing.

      • blowme0bama says:

I got in a twitter spat with some 20 – 30 somethings maybe a year ago and they thought I was a loon explaining how humans have natural rights – they thought the same way this nincompoop does – that rights come from government.

Trump says National Guard will be on Border until wall is built.
I hope I misheard, but someone asked will they be armed? They damn well better be. There are drug trafficers, and maybe terrorists coming through the southern border. The Guard is not being sent there to stand and look pretty.

    • DeniseVB says:

Hopefully they’re there to help the Border Patrol to enforce the immigration laws. I hear the left has sent an army of lawyers to Mexico to help the “migrants” enter our country.

      • Lulu says:

I hope they man the detention centers. Nothing like people in military police units telling the “refugees” change you own f’ing kid’s diaper, no we don’t have guacamole, go find a stick and there’s the dirt for your kid to play with, and south Texas ain’t paradise.

They assign federal personnel (including attorneys) to details all the time. This is not unusal at all if viewed from that standpoint. This very US attoney was assigned earlier this year to come up with a battle plan to go after drug cartel with a prosecution plans (and it includes corrupt local politicians) in south Texas in January of this year. He did press conferences for heavens sake so this Hill writer is talking through his ignorant ass. This guy throws the book at them so they plead to fewer charges but still get lengthy prison stints. Sessions is just sending out of DC DOJ attorneys instead of the scum that works in main Justice in DC who are crooks and cannot be trusted with their connections to the swamp.
