I’m so embarrassed. I once was a “journalist”. Really. A looooong time ago. Apparently in a land far away.
To be played like a fiddle as the #WHCD were by someone I didn’t respect, and on the national stage to boot, woulda done ME in. THIS lot are still living off their mommies, I guess.

I woke up in the middle of the night last night, and when I couldn’t get back to sleep, I started planning the menus for a weekend we’re going to have house guests. That took my brain to an article that was posted here in the last few days. I’m pretty sure Helen linked it. It was about millenials being unwilling to touch raw meat. Now, a disclaimer is in order. I grew up on a farm, and I’m willing to put my hands and barefeet into just about anything unless it’s too hot or caustic. Feet and hands are easier to wash than boots and gloves. But just because I’m willing to touch stuff doesn’t mean I don’t know it’s icky. I use a lot of bleach.
The thing I’m stuck on is why do meat packing companies need to redesign how they package meat? There’s already a solution out there. It’s called disposable plastic gloves. They come in a big box, they’re pretty cheap, and while they add plastic to the environment, only people who have reservations about touching things need to use them. Personally, I like the feeling of rubbing a piece of meat with seasonings, and a pair of gloves might get in the way. Maybe like the difference a condom makes? But it makes a lot of sense to use either one if you’re worried about disease. 😉

Ya’ gotta rub the spices in, otherwise they just fall off.
How can you tell when your steak is done?
Clean your fish, deer, rabbit, turkey and other wild game when in the field?
Get in there then and wash your hands.
Afraid of a piece of raw meat.
We’re raising a generation of wimps.
      Thank God for our warriors.

Sunday funnies from the local cops fb

some municipal employees noticed a man carrying on in the parking lot of the police station. Officers went outside and the shirtless man was hiding in the shrubbery, picking flowers, and doing karate moves. The 30 year old man from Cherry Hill, NJ was under the influence of an unknown substance so he was arrested and released when he was coherent.

I thought this was funny too:

a 60 year old __ man was issued a summons for harassment after he left a threatening note for his housemate. The offender left the note taped to the inside door of the housemate’s assigned kitchen cabinet after the housemate failed to recycle a milk carton. The incident occurred in a shared home in the unit block of N__ Road.

…later that morning at 6:19AM, the 60 year old man who left the note for his housemate discovered that someone ripped the windshield wipers off his Ford pick-up truck overnight. There were no witnesses but he suspects his roommate.

…later that evening at 8:35PM, the housemate who didn’t recycle so close to Earth Day reported that someone put something in his tea kettle that caused his tea to foam. He also suspects his housemate was responsible.

I remember Hillary telling him he was doing Korea wrong, lol ! While scrolling through twitter, also saw she was giving a speech on infrastructure? The comments were brutal.

Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage tomb vandalized with profanities, police report filed

For the first time in the history of The Hermitage, the tomb of President Andrew Jackson has been covered after being vandalized.

It’s the first time vandalism has occurred at Jackson’s tomb since the nation’s seventh president was buried in 1845 beside his wife, Rachel, in a tomb on the grounds of their Nashville-area home.

First of all, I thought those “roasting” speeches had to be approved? So that lies squarely with the WHCA for allowing it. After reading too many twitters about Wolf, I figured out if you really hate Trump, you loved her and if you really love Trump you hate her.

      • elliesmom says:

I don’t love her or hate her. She was paid to do a job, and she did it. I’m more interested in how an event that claims to be for raising money for scholarships spends its money. Maybe they need to spend less on the event and more on the scholarships, or just ask journalists for what they spend coming to the event as a donation. Given the amount the tickets cost, what gets spent on clothes and primping, and other out-of-pocket expenses to go, they should have no problem raising more than the $90,000 they currently give to the scholarship fund. The kids I taught raised over $20,000 every year in a town of 8,000 getting small items donated for a televised auction on local access TV. The WHCA should be ashamed of how little money they actually raise. For me, that’s the larger scandal, and it’s getting buried in the anger over a foul-mouthed comedienne a lot of us hadn’t heard of before.

After reading all the statements re:the appropriateness – or not – of Ms Wolfe’s routine, I’m gonna suggest the performer tailored her monologue to suit not only her feelings, but also those of the WH press corps. I doubt that she thought anyone from CNN, MSNBC, NYT, LAT, WaPo and the rest would object. Frankly, I’m surprised there were so many who did (object). In fact, I wondered whether she sought out people like April Ryan, Jim Acosta, Maggie Whatshername from NYT to look at her routine – and perhaps make suggestions.

Clintons Orchestrate Rise From Ashes With $100,000 Dinner, Bill’s Novel, And Chelsea’s Twitter Game

We’re about to see a lot more of the Clintons, according to Axios.

After laying low for 18 months, aside from Hillary once again insulting half of America and slip-sliding down a flight of stairs hours later, the former first family will be making a bona-fide attempt to rise from the ashes and jumpstart the Clinton Foundation ATM – despite the FBI launching a new investigation into the organization in January.
