The Heroes Among Us

First of all, I wouldn’t wear my MAGA or NRA hats for walkies around the neighborhood, maybe I will now.  😀

Wow, the media is still ignoring these photos. Her daughter was killed because of the uniform she wore (Thanks Obama).

      Is it on twitter?
(I’m finally back on. I broke down and gave them my landline phone number and they actually called it with the code to unlock my account. It’s fine, I almost never answer that phone. I mostly get spam call# on it. Once I cancel cable tv, I’ll also cancel my landline)

  2. gram krakka says:

Beating up a 115# white woman senior citizen may be a bridge too far for the garden variety Dems, but the Antifa brass knuckle sporting types looking for scalps to claim will pick on those they think can’t counter punch. Careful where you go.

Since I read the tabloids, I know the (Will) Smiths were raising their children to be *free spirits* with no rules or boundaries. This doesn’t surprise me:

    https://www.aol.com/article/entertainment/2018/05/14/willow-smith-shocks-mom-jada-pinkett-i-was-cutting-myself-at-9-years-old/23434593/

    Color me shocked 😉

    • Miranda says:

I self-harmed when I was much younger. For me, and it sounds like for Willow, it was a sign of extreme stress and anxiety that didn’t feel like it had any other outlet. The physical pain kicked me out of the emotional loop.

I was raised kind of the opposite of free spirit, so I don’t blame the Smiths for that. No one knew at the time and for years afterward. I haven’t done it in a long time. I sometimes feel like doing it when I have high stress, but I don’t. mr.mir knows.

      • DeniseVB says:

I was raised in a military boot camp with two Marine parents (well, my mom got thrown out when she got preggers with me in ’46). I know now they tried to be the best parents, so did the Smiths going in the opposite direction. Kids are a crap shoot aren’t they? They definitely don’t come with manuals 😉

        • Myiq2xu™ says:

If you find a manual it is for the wrong model.

          • DeniseVB says:

LOL. Special Greg (who’s now nearing 50) taught me more than my betters. 😉

          • Somebody says:

Isn’t that the truth. I was SO prepared for booze, sex, and drugs. I was going to handle things better than my hell, fire and brimstone, southern Baptist former military, exceedingly strict parents. Nothing short of perfection allowed in my family.

My daughter became a religious zealot……how do you argue with God? God is always right 🙄 Of course the fundamental preacher man was wrong, but she couldn’t see that……until her little sister was diagnosed with cancer. I had her religious zealot group and my mom’s insist I had to repent and get right with God. God was punishing me through my youngest. That whole experience, along with some other things opened my older daughter’s eyes.

My eldest and youngest are complete nerds. Painfully shy computer geeks.

Not a party animal in the mix, maybe it skips a generation 😂

            true

        • Miranda says:

I wasn’t trying to say I had issues still with my Mom. She did the best she could and we were fine as adults. I just meant that the Smiths’ raising of Willow wasn’t necessarily the problem. It sounds like she got too involved with Hollywood at too young of an age and couldn’t handle the stress of that.

          • Myiq2xu™ says:

Celebrity kids are just as fucked up as their parents.

          • dm says:

Could be they were the best parents they could be, but if most of what I’ve read over the years has any truth to it, they were raised in a very “confusing” household…open marriage, same sex partners, Scientology adjacent…

      • Island Girl says:

My granddaughters were both raised the TOTAL opposite of free spirit and both have done oh so much more, I could write a book. It is unreal and a sign of these crazy times.

Left wallet on bus. Didn’t realize for a while. Called bus. Told to call back around 7. Started to cancel cards. Got through one call. Knock on the door. Yeah wallet. I only had 19 in cash and didn’t think to get his address. Was mostly upset because getting my physical next week to get driver’s permit — taking a class. Gonna learn to drive at 51! I’d have to get state id to get permit. No idea where passport, birth certificate. Would have been a nightmare.
Wish I had given him more.

    • swanspirit says:

That’s wonderful! I know it’s cliche, but those kinds of people really do restore your faith in humanity!
How exciting learning to drive, I didn’t get my license til I was 29. One of the charming things my ex did when I was married at an early age, was drive drunk, and terrorize me in the car, while driving, so it took me a while to overcome my fears, and get up my courage to learn.
I know you can do it!

I don’t quite grasp the whole net neutrality thing…can someone give us a brief NN101 rundown? Thanks.

      • lyn says:

Pound me too. The internet still works.

      • taw46 says:

I don’t either. But since all the Dems were in favor of overturning it, I’m with the FCC. 😁

      • Mt.Laurel says:

Huge $$$ for the players especially those that get their way and those that help them.

Google and Facebook are two of the main forces behind Net Neutrality.
The Tel cos do not like it.

Guess we now know has been giving those that just voted to overturn the repeals more money. yep – Zuck and Bezos.

      • John Denney says:

Net neutrality is government coercion of internet providers.

Analogous to rent control, in that the government wants to control what owners can charge. It’s the principle that crashed Venezuela. It’s why rent-controlled properties in NYC are owned by slumlords; the owners are not allowed to charge enough to properly maintain the property.

      • DandyTIger says:

The beneficiaries of “net neutrality” are those sending media (Google, Amazon, and Apple). They get to stream big media and not pay for it with “net neutrality”. You and everyone else pays because the load is spread out evenly. Without “net neutrality”, whoever takes up the bandwidth (those companies) pays more.

Turkey urges Islamic world to unite against Israel, calls summit

Turkey has urged Islamic countries to review their ties with Israel after dozens of Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire on the Gaza border.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim told his ruling party in parliament that Ankara would call an extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

“Eugenior Joseph, berated at Cheesecake Factory over MAGA hat: ..”
    *****
Mr. Joseph will be doing a public health service if he sues this racist company into oblivion.
“The Cheesecake Factory has been criticized for featuring large servings of high calorie and high fat foods, and a corresponding lack of healthy menu options. For these reasons, the chain was dubbed the “worst family restaurant in America” for 2010 by Men’s Health magazine.”
..] The average sandwich at the restaurant contains 1,400 calories….
the “Crispy Chicken Costoletta” that has more calories (2,610) than a 12-piece bucket of fried chicken from KFC and The Cheesecake Factory’s “Bistro Shrimp Pasta” dish, which had more calories than any other entrée from a national chain restaurant at 3,120 calories..”

    • Somebody says:

No wonder I LOVE the crispy chicken costoletta😋

It is huge, but either hubby and I split it or I take home half for lunch the next day. I guess I should divide it into thirds or maybe fourths 🤔 Oh well I go there maybe once or twice a year, it’s quite a ways from here.
