Freedom Isn’t Free

Today isn’t a jingoistic holiday about glorifying war. It is about honoring those brave men and women who died serving our country. They didn’t die to make America great, they died to make and keep America free.

Freedom isn’t a gift. It has to be earned. And the price is always paid in blood.

Those of us who are enjoying freedom owe a debt of gratitude to the people who bought it for us.

Every time you stand for the National Anthem you are thanking them.

But, but… Donald Jr took a photo with his kids! And Ivanka took a photo with her kids!!

Shesh some people cannot take a day to remember and honor the brave people who gave their lives in defense of our great country. Be happy and grateful people. We live in the greatest country in the world – even if it is full of SJW who would never get close to a combat situation to protect this great country that allows them to mouth off from behind their keyboards.

I joined a couple of those UK Pro Great Britain and Free Tommy groups who are begging for President Trump to intervene ! I thought that was nice of them 😉

On the upside. I saw a recent generic poll that has the R’s +6 in Nov. The poll pointed out that translates to a 50 seat loss for the Dems. It’s still May, I don’t know how it can get better for the Dems, now they’re defending the UK child rapists over Tommy Robinson’s arrest. (He had it coming!). Oy.

The country that gave us the Magna Carta is dying, if not dead. George Orwell was a psychic and a prophet.

I was pretty much over it since the Princess Sparkle wedding. I’m a Royals fan, but they’re making too many changes. The Queen is hanging on to the throne til they pry her cold dead hands from it. Charles just turned 70, divorced, remarried and kinda cray-cray. He should have been out of the succession running a long time ago. Just give the blasted thing to Wills and Kate, the only two Royals I’ve liked since Diana and Sarah Ferguson, that would be great. /rant

          • taw46 says:

I love the Queen and dread what will happen after she goes. I hope she outlasts Charles, and that the throne goes to William. Sadly, I think the monarchy’s days are numbered. UK has changed too much.

          • DeniseVB says:

I was in Princess mode in Charles’ youth, he was creepy in the 60’s. Nope, nabbed a Marine instead 😉

            Maybe William will save it.

          • Constance says:

I’m sure Charles will take the throne for a few years. I feel kind of sorry for him, he’s been on stand-by his whole life. He will definitely want his name to go down in history.

    • Venus E. Lee says:

It isn’t PC to talk about the absurdly high suicide rate among trans people unless it is to lie & say it’s because they aren’t ‘accepted.’
No, it’s because the same root problem is there that caused them to think transitioning would ‘make’ them happy is still there post-transitioning.
Instead of ‘fixing’ their bodies to ‘match’ their minds, it’s much easier & better to fix their minds to match their bodies.

The church these men, really young boys attended is in the background.
Friends and neighbors that stood so proud in their Marine Dress Blues, bloused paratroop boots shined that you could see your reflection.
And those just as proud and standing tall with the blue Fourragere of the American Infantry over their shoulder.
I’m certain that we’ve all lost friends and relatives in this war, but these we’re my friends and just guys from the neighborhood and schools.
    Please take a look.
    Maybe we could share stories.

Well here is swampland the NHL Playoffs are big news [for once] because the Washington Capitals are playing. Given that they are playing Las Vegas – my guess is it is not big news anywhere but those two very specific locals. I am rooting for the Vegas Golden Knights myself.

Had panned to go down to the mall for the Memorial Day concert with my cousin and the kids but the weather was terrible and something set my allergies off big time. I guess they wanted to show my unhappy sinuses who was boss in pollen season. So I did laundry while running my own marathon of Gods & Generals, The Longest Day, Laurence of Arabia and for the lighter side F-Troop. Then I streamed the concert.

Yes people keep voting for Democrats, preferably Progressives, in Seattle too and then bitching because they don’t solve problems and actually create more problems. They are so damned dumb they just keep voting Democrat. I think part of the problem is Republicans, Independents and Libertarians just don’t virtue signal enough and these half wit voters are really attracted to virtue signalling and being self righteous.

          • Myiq2xu™ says:

Cities like Chicago are so integrated with the Democrats that the only way to get ahead is to be a Democrat. It is pure machine politics. The last Chicago mayor that wasn’t part of the Daley machine was Harold Washington, and he was a black Democrat.

Obama moved to Chicago to help “organize” the South Side for Washington.

Not everyone votes for Ds. Not all of us live in the city, but close enough that it affects us just the same. I live immediately north of the city. Last night/early this morning, there was noise that sounded like a crown of nearly 100 people yelling, chanting, screaming, shouting. I called the PD because it sounded like a near-riot. I live near the lake and it was coming from the beach which had been “closed” for several hours by that time. (I didn’t go outside to check the situation.) The police said they had already been called and were on the way. Yet, the noise continued for another hour. Maybe it was high school seniors partying, maybe something else. I may never know, but it sounded pretty scary and not in a good way. Could’ve been from Chicago, could’ve been from my town. Although there is a growing contingent of non-D voters, it doesn’t counter the Prog-Lib-Dem voters that continue to insist theirs is the best way. Yet.

“A majority — 68 percent — of CFOs say U.S. tax reform will have a positive impact on their bottom line,” the report said.

About half of companies benefiting from tax savings said they would use them to re-invest in plants and equipment, while almost two-thirds of those with U.S. employees said they planned to increase their headcount over the next six months.

This drives me nuts. The women’s lingerie joke was a problem. The man was sexualising and trivialising women in academia while pretending to make a joke. That’s not funny and it’s the slippery slope from there to sexual harassment and outright abuse/assault. BUT feminists insist on muddying the waters so badly with other totally bs stuff that when a legit issue is raised, nobody wants to hear it. Just like the race card. When are these fuckwits going to learn?

    https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2018/05/the_feminist_endgame.html

    • elliesmom says:

When are feminists going to understand a lot of fully empowered women, not from the pole dancing arm of fully empowered women, enjoy some sexual banter between men and women? We aren’t offended by it. We don’t feel threatened by it. We don’t believe, see no evidence, that it leads to women being physically assaulted. We don’t feel trivialised. We see it as a healthy give and take between the sexes, acknowledges we’re all sexual beings, and gives us a chance to mutually laugh at our foibles.

Those of us who grew up with elevator operators instead of push buttons have a whole slew of lame elevator jokes in our memories. When I’m in the elevator at the medical center with a lot of old folks and I’m closest to the buttons, I have multiple stupid jokes that start out “Where can I drive you?” And I always get a good laugh. Not because the jokes are funny, but because they bring back a memory or two for the people in the elevator.

We had a dinner party Saturday night. All of the men belong to ROMEO- Retired Old Men Eating Out. The sexual banter was wonderful. The old women who accompanied them to dinner loved being flirted with. They all left laughing. I wish feminists would just stop trying to make the rest of us as miserable as they are.

Just from personal experience, I have never met a “feminist” that was very bright. I know I may have limited experience in that area but none of them seemed very self aware, able to figure out cause and effect, or understood human interpersonal relationships. Most seem to think it is all about themselves and diva-ness or something. It is juvenille and rather childish domination really. It is all about advantage whether they merit it or not.

A Chicago man with only a misdemeanor supervision in his past was ordered held without bail Tuesday after Cook County prosecutors said he shattered a window at a judge’s home a day after he had cursed her out from his car.
When Daryl Williams stepped in front of Cook County Judge Stephanie Miller on Wednesday, it wasn’t the first time the two had seen each other. Back in November, Miller—a champion of the county’s “affordable bail” movement—let Williams go free on a recognizance bond after he was charged with possessing a stolen handgun on the South Side.

While free awaiting trial on the handgun charge, Williams obtained another gun and fatally shot a man in the back of the head, police say. Arrested this week, Williams just happened to find himself in front of Judge Miller again.

Once-Thriving City Nonprofit Sputters Under Mayor’s Wife, Chirlane McCray

In the years after the Sept. 11 attacks, the Mayor’s Fund to Advance the City of New York became a fund-raising juggernaut: The city-run nonprofit, which channels donations to city programs or causes, raised tens of millions of dollars from private sources.

But under Mayor Bill de Blasio, the fund has not kept pace. Contributions are stagnant, if not falling, and now support fewer programs.

And the chairwoman of the nonprofit, Chirlane McCray, has largely been missing in action: She has attended less than half of the fund’s board meetings, and her outreach to donors has been sporadic.

  46. lateblum says:

I am getting my car serviced this morning and just like every time I’m here, The View is on the tv and ever since the program came on, it has been Trump bashing. Any Trump around. PDJT, Don, Ivanka, etc. Oddly enough there is a sign taped directly to the edge of the screen saying, “Due to the political climate, neither FoxNews, nor MSNBC, nor CNN will be playing on our TVs.” I had quite enough of the screeching and nastiness and nicely requested that they either change the channel, or turn off the television. They came in and to honor my polite request, asked what channel I wanted. I said I didn’t want anything specific, but did want to stop the stridently negative/partisan program given their policy to avoid dissention and anger in the waiting room. I don’t know what channel he changed to, but he did change it. He then said to me(rather loudly) “we have no tv in the other room. You could sit in there.” My response was that their policy actually said there would be no partisan political programming and said the View was nothing if not political. And I thanked him for changing the station. Grrrrrrrr
