Roseanne Barr: Unperson

Roseanne sure stepped in it this time. The only thing I can figure is she forgot she is white. White people can’t go around saying stuff like that. Only black people can say racist things and not be racist. Black people can say “nigger” and nobody blinks an eye. Quentin Tarantino likes to use it but he’s been getting some pushback. I don’t know if Talcum X can say “nigger” or not, but I’d like to see him try.

Maybe Roseanne spent so many years as a Leftist celebrity with the Green and the Peace and Freedom parties that she didn’t realize she was no longer privileged. White conservatives get no slack. If you are a white conservative you have to avoid saying things that can be twisted into a “dogwhistle” in the minds of Leftists.

Roseanne is a big girl. This isn’t the first time she was fired from television, but it’s probably gonna be the last. I’m guessing that she won’t be allowed to do a standard contrition tour on all the talk shows like most disgraced celebrities do. They are going to deplatform her so she can’t explain or perhaps rehabilitate herself. She will have a hard time finding concert venues too.

Racism was socially acceptable in this country until after WWII. The Nazis gave racism a bad name and thoroughly discredited the theory of white supremacy. They took eugenics down with them too. Then the Civil Rights movement pushed the issue of segregation onto the nation’s front burner in the 50’s and 60’s.

Change is always hard, but in a period of less than twenty years, we came a long way. Racism became socially unacceptable, and discrimination became illegal. We needed to change, and we did. America was moving to a colorblind society. We stopped using the offensive terms “Negro” and “colored people” and began using the terms, “black,” “African American,” and “People of color.”

The High Priests of Identity Politics were dismayed and outraged. If we become colorblind, how will black people maintain their permanent victim status? Don’t you know that 400 years of slavery has left scars on the souls of black people? I’m joking, but they aren’t.

It started in academia. There are decades of racial scholarship out there explaining and defining ideas like “blackness” and “white privilege.”

I remember people using the word “nigger” when I was a kid. I almost never hear a white person use that word anymore unless they are using the way I am now. Even then most white people use “the N-word” instead. Except for Quentin Tarantino.

The two vilest words in the English language are “nigger” and “cunt” and while I know what they mean I don’t use them. I don’t think I have ever used either of those words on this blog before today. I think the world would be a better place if no one ever used them again.

But I still hear that word a lot. Because even though white people quit using it, black people use it a lot. They use it far more than it was ever used by The Ku Klux Klan. The only time someone gets in trouble for saying “nigger” is when a white person says it.

It is acceptable in this country to call George W. Bush a “chimp” and to call Donald Trump an orangutan, but it is “abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values” to say that Valerie Jarrett is part gorilla. That’s because once upon a time some racist crackers called black people apes, and so for the rest of eternity any reference that connects black people and apes together is deemed racist.

According to the Left, Trump is fanning the flames of racism and his supporters are all Nazis. Do you know what I find offensive? Being called a racist.

Valerie Jarrett deserves to have scorn heaped upon her. She was Obama’s consiglieri, and I have no doubt that she was up to her tits in Spygate. What Roseanne said was offensive, but it wasn’t Roman Polanski getting a standing ovation at the Oscars offensive.

Nobody was injured or killed by Roseanne’s words. She didn’t commit a crime. What she said was clearly protected by the 1st Amendment. Her tweet was crude and distasteful, but Roseanne is a fucking comic. I found her Star Spangled Banner performance to be much more offensive.

So why is the Left going berzerk?

It’s really simple. Roseanne Barr is one of the most prominent Trump supporters in the country. And if they can’t take Trump down, the next best thing is taking down one of his supporters. She DEFIED Hollywood and the media by supporting Trump, and then she rubbed it in their faces with a hit show.

I’m surprised they didn’t try to burn her at the stake as a witch. They still might.

The problem for the Left is that their slavish devotion to Identity Politics is causing a backlash among white people. Not a resurgence of racism, but an increasing sense that we are fed up with this bullshit. Like I have said before, The Era of White Guilt is over. People are getting annoyed. The Left has owned the conversation for too long.

We need to get rid of the double standards. Either everybody can use a word or nobody can use it.

Read Bookie’s article, it’s great from a Roseanne historical prospective and the double standard in show biz and politics. What better example than Sarah Sliverman, Jimmy Kimmel’s ex-girlfriend 😉

I broke out in hives last night. While I was waiting for the Benadryl to kick in and the itching to stop, I poked around the web a bit to sites I seldom visit. Seeing the reactions of people on both sides of the poltical spectrum, I think this was a deliberate move on Roseanne’s part. I suspect she got a look at next season’s scripts, didn’t like where the show was going, and wanted out. ABC had captured a fairly conservative audience, and it’s not much of stretch to wonder if they were either going to try to preach to them about the error of their ways through characters they love, or get them to come to dislike the characters enough to tank the show, giving ABC a loss they could make hay with. Roseanne doesn’t appear to need a lavish lifestyle and can probably live comfortably on money she already has. It’s not hard to take the leap she decided to blow things up rather than continue. She’s already back on Twitter, and frankly doesn’t seem all that upset. She’s started a conversation that exposes a lot of hypocrisy, and as the Klown said has probably given Trump a real push in the midterms. If some of the football players ramp up their protests, the Republicans will add seats. All that was missing for them was a big GOTV push, and now they have it.

    • Lulu says:

Exactly what I said earlier. AND she doesn’t like or want to deal with a bunch of people she is/was going to be forced to deal with. She was making money and giving jobs to people she doesn’t give a shit about. She is NOT upset. Or very sorry.

    • Anthony says:

I had the same thought. Getting fired is a lot cheaper (and smarter) then breaching a contract. I heard that the network was working overtime to moderate the content if her show, making it more like a fluffy meringue confection because it was too ‘edgy’ for their fragile nerves. Finding out Wanda Sykes was one of the producers also filled in a lot of blanks.

Th upside is that ValJar’s name is now on everyone’s lips, despite 8 years of the Obama WH doing their best to keep her under the radar. Crazy like a fox 🦊

      • DeniseVB says:

Honest to goodness there were people asking which of the characters on her show was “VJ”. LOL ! You betcha they’re learning, also that ValJar does have ties with the MB and the pretty simian lady on Planet of the Apes does look like Ms.Jarrett, only prettier. Heh.

        • Anthony says:

See my comment to Angie below:

I fully expect a relentless drip, drip, drip of facts surrounding ValJar coming out over the next couple weeks. The Obamas kept her well hidden throughout their tenure. She was stupid enough to respond to Roseanne, and now America wants to know more. Well played.

    • mcnorman says:

I suspect that Roseanne saw the control freaks at ABC coming down on the scripts as well. You are correct, she doesn’t seem to “need” money as most A-listers do. There is a notable difference in her tweets beginning a week prior (subtle but there). She saw the writing on the wall and it was not going to be fun anymore.

    • lyn says:

I read that season two would be different from season one and not be about Trump, so I bet you are right.

    • mothy2017 says:

Well you 3 made my morning.

      • DeniseVB says:

I’ve been a Roseanne fan since the 80’s, believe me, there was plenty of drama involved behind the scenes of the original shows. Especially that bizzarro season 9. She claimed it was a big F U to the network. Never a dull moment 😉

  8. taw46 says:

All true, myiq, good post. I would add to what you said, that it was also because of who she dared to ridicule. No one must touch their god, Obama. If they are going this berserk over Roseanne’s tweet, can you imagine what will happen if hard proof of Obama’s role in Spygate is released? I want that to happen, but I really fear for our country if it does. It will be so much uglier than it is now.

    • taw46 says:

At the same time she tweeted about VJ, she also went after Chelsea Clinton and Soros. A big no-no with the left.

    • lyn says:

On FB in response to a Rosanne post, I made a comment that Valerie probably was implicated in Spygate, and someone called me a fucking moron. Yep. Obama’s army will go berserk.

      • Somebody says:

No doubt she was involved. I still think failed fiction writer Ben Rhodes wrote large portions on the piss dossier too.

VJ was Obama’s handler and has been for years, well before the WH. She still is, she lives with he and Michelle.

        • taw46 says:

All true. And how weird is it that she lives with the Obamas and the MSM is not the least bit curious?

          • swanspirit says:

It’s very weird, and creepy. She lives with them, goes on vacation with them, has her own security detail; it’s too weird, and creepy.

  9. Somebody says:

Some people see racism in everything and probably always will. MLK must constantly spin in his grave.

I hope you are correct that most have had enough, but I don’t think we’re there yet.

One tiny quibble, discrimination is indeed alive and well and legal. Affirmative action as written was not intended to be reverse discrimination, but in practice that is what it has become. Look at universities limiting Asian enrollment. It is also perfectly A-OK to say anything you want about a white male or any white southerner, also evangelicals and usually fat white people unless they are card carrying leftist.

  10. Somebody says:

One more quibble. I have never thought the terms Negro or colored people to be racist. They aren’t used anymore, at least not in English speaking countries. However those terms used to be the PC accepted terms in their day.

United Negro College Fund is still in existence, as is The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

MLK himself used those terms. I think it is more a generational thing, but I honestly only know of one situation where someone thought either of those terms racist.

    • DeniseVB says:

Why do we still have a Black Caucus in Congress? What have they advanced based on the color of their skin? I don’t think they have any GOP members either.

    • elliesmom says:

In the past words like “idiot” and “moron” were used by both medical and educational professionals to describe people with IQs below 70. When those words became unacceptable and derrogatory, they moved to “retarded”. Now that word is not acceptable so we’ve moved onto “developmentally delayed”. You can’t get rid of attitudes by changing vocabulary, but the PC police keep trying.

  11. DeniseVB says:

Meanwhile, our msm found some squirrels, okay, squirrel predators 😉

With all the massive accomplishments and campaign promises kept that Trump has done in a year and a half, and the now widely recognized as unfair Russian investigation, the media coverage of Trump has been and still is over 90% negative. The bias and unfairness of the media coverage is self evident. Facts are facts and they all point to the news media being biased and fake.

Also, the MSM is worse than just biased..they are actively trying to destroy people. Watched a few min. of cnn this morning and it was stunning..how many years have they picked our president for us ?

      • DeniseVB says:

Jesus Christ. Having grown up in a “famille en difficulte” that included violence, I cannot tell you how very much Roseanne meant to me as a teenager. Dan was my fantasy dad. Roseanne was my fantasy mom. That episode where Dan beat up Fisher, and Darlene had to bail him out? That was my fantasy about somebody FINALLY coming to my rescue and do something about my violent stepfather instead of tut-tutting, “Well, missy, that’s a VERY SERIOUS ACCUSATION.” The episode where Roseanne and Jackie’s dad died and they had that dialogue in front of the belt hanging on the wall? Vales of tears. Yeah, that stupid middle-brow sitcom meant a lot to me.

      • DeniseVB says:

I was a young mom in the 80’s, my kids were her tv kids ages, and I took many parenting tips from that show. LOL, Roseanne made being a mom fun again! I think one of my favorite lines was “no wonder some species eat their young”. 😀

    • taw46 says:

All monkeys and apes should be banned from zoos.

    • DeniseVB says:

Ban that racist “Monkey See, Monkey Do” expression !

Burn all Curious George books !

Ban future showings of King Kong, Mighty Joe Young, Tarzan and Planet of the Apes movies.

    • Somebody says:

Why is monkey considered racist? I remember those supposed evolution pictures with apes, but did I miss a monkey meme? I’m completely serious. Is there one or is it because people conflate apes and monkeys?

Last year after story time at the library my grandkids were misbehaving. They were doing things they knew they weren’t supposed to do because other kids were doing it. I exclaimed “Monkey see, monkey do, you two know better than that. Now come on you silly monkeys that’s quite enough it’s time to go”

Mind you, the theme for the week was in fact monkeys. The story was “Caps for Sale”. I guess that’s why I had monkey on the brain.

Anyway the gasps, the faux shock and outrage🙄 The librarian admonished me, “How dare you use such a slur with your beautiful granddaughters”. My reply was pretty much huh? Closely followed by GFY, as the kids gathered up their monkey masks and monkey trees made during crafts and their monkey toy 🙄

I used to call my own kids silly monkeys on occasion. Why, because monkeys can act pretty silly sometimes.

I guess maybe we need a racist decoder of some kind. Did you know Oriental is “racist”. Baby mama was Filipino. She was adopted as a baby by a white family here, she doesn’t know shit about the Philippines. Apparently there were trigger words for her and oriental was one. Not a word I really use except in reference to the mail order company and rugs. I used that term once around her in regard to an order from Oriental Trading Company and she came unglued. 🙄

Like I said before some people can find racism in anything.

      • taw46 says:

I was shocked several years ago to find out the word “Oriental” is considered racist. There was a whole discussion then about what to call those rugs, lol. And as for monkey, it was ok to call children little monkeys, for the reason you listed. I don’t think a racist decoder would help us, because “the offended” are busy changing it every day.

        • Somebody says:

I know right, what do you call the rugs? Retailers still call them Oriental rugs, I fully expect a shaming and boycott one day. Right now though Asians are out of favor with SJW, I guess because they’re too damn smart 🙄

          I had a similar conversation……I’d like a rug…..um, hand maid……um, from the other side of the world….wink.

      • Anthony says:

“Closely followed by GFY” You’re a woman after my own heart lol

        • Somebody says:

Well to be fair I didn’t say those exact words because I was in public in a small southern town, but the meaning was not lost on anyone.

    • elliesmom says:

Anthony, most schools banned monkey bars years ago because they’re considered too dangerous. And sexist because a little girl’s underwear might be seen. We can no longer see “London or France”.

      • taw46 says:

Monkey bars were the best thing in elementary school. No one was killed or maimed in all the many years our school had them. But you are right, long gone.

        • taw46 says:

And the old school merry go round, the see-saws….so much fun!

        • lateblum says:

There actually monkey bars at gbaby #1’s school playground. At least on the lower grades’ playground. My gabby and all her little friends love climbing, swinging on and hanging from the bars. Hmmm I guess our school district isn’t quite as Prog as they believe they are.

          • taw46 says:

Do they use “safer” material now? Ours were metal with hard dirt underneath, lol.

          • lateblum says:

The monkey bars are metal but coated with some substance that prevents rust and keeps the bars cooler in the hot weather. The hard dirt below is covered with cedar chips and other soft ground cover.

          • taw46 says:

Well, that’s a good thing. It really did hurt when you fell off and hit the hard ground, lol.

      • Anthony says:

Damn… I guess that’s one of the byproducts of totally forgetting to have kids… 😀
