Trump Derangement Syndrome has crossed the border into Canada. Luckily, it appears that Canadians may be more sensible than us.

Restaurant manager fired for asking customer to remove ‘Make America Great Again’ hat

An employee at a popular Vancouver restaurant has been fired for asking a patron to take off their “Make America Great Again” hat.

Darin Hodge was a manager at the Teahouse, located just south of Third Beach in Stanley Park, when a customer came in Tuesday evening sporting the red cap.

The hat was popularized by U.S. President Donald Trump on the campaign trail back in 2016 and has become a symbol for one side of the deeply divided political climate that has settled over the country since.

“As a person with a strong moral backbone, I had to take a stand against this guest’s choice of headwear while in my former place of work,” Hodge told CTV News in a statement Friday. “The MAGA hat has come to symbolize racism, bigotry, Islamophobia, misogyny, white supremacy, homophobia.”

According to the restaurant’s general manager, Andy Crimp, Hodge asked the patron to remove the headwear. The customer argued they had a right to wear the hat and left the establishment.

In his statement, Hodge denied explicitly refusing to serve the customer wearing the MAGA hat. The restaurant, however, said Hodge’s actions were not in line with company policy and Crimp had to make the difficult decision to let him go.

“I was a little bit taken aback and I was a little bit stunned,” Crimp told CTV News Friday. “Our company doesn’t discriminate against people with different values or beliefs that we have.”

Crimp said that while he’s personally sympathetic to Hodge’s stance on the MAGA controversy, he’s “disappointed” that the employee was not able to keep his political opinions and his job separate.

“I believe that everyone has a right to their own opinion and to have their own values and their own philosophy of how they want feel and believe, but I think that when you’re at work and you’re a manager, you have to set an example for the people who are working for you,” he said. “We don’t want people to feel unwelcome in the restaurant and we don’t want to set up an environment where employees feel like they have the right to refuse service to people who come into the restaurant.”

I’m guessing the management are not SJW snowflakes.

But wait! There’s more!

Regardless of the mixed reaction, Hodge said he has “absolutely no regrets” about what he did.

“I stand by my decision to ask the patron to remove his hat,” he said.

What a dick! Don’t be a dick.

It’s just a MAGA hat. It’s not like he was wearing a Dodgers cap.

It should be interesting to see how the Democrats respond to her win. Will they finally come out of the closet as full blown socialists and support her with new lies about the virtues of socialism? Or will they stay n the closet and recirculate the same old lies they’ve been peddling about how they’re not socialists? Either way, they’ll continue lying. Should make for an amusing summer/autumn run up to the mid terms.

      • DeniseVB says:

Does she have a GOP challenger? I want to send him/her money 😉 I tried to figure out her district, Brooklyn and parts of the East Side ?

        • Lulu says:

In a 700,000 person district almost no one bothered to vote. She got 15,897 out of 27,658 total in an overwhelmingly Dem district. I live in a small boonie flyover redneck city and my NEIGHBORHOOD has 9,000 VOTE. Of course we all vote (it is like 80% participation rate in this part of town) so I’m not sure they care or even know there was an election. She got her people to the polls so she won. Anthony Pappas is the Republican who won his primary for the district unopposed.

        • elliesmom says:

Anthony Pappas, I think. It’s the 14th district.

Thanks guys, too lazy to look it up. I did learn more about him in those comments, lol, so Brooklyn, they want blood 😀

          • elliesmom says:

It appears to me he’s a Democrat running as a Republican. It will be interesting what the folks of the 14th district do. Elect Ocasio-Cortez and get an alt-left congresscritter, or vote for Pappas and get a moderate Democrat, but have to live with being a Republican district, even if it’s in name only. That will teach them to stay home. 😉 This one is going to be fun to watch.

“But one waitress has a bad memory of working with Ocasio-Cortez, 28, as Ocasio-Cortez tended bar during the very busy Cinco de Mayo celebration in 2017.

At the end of the night, when it came time to split the $560 in tips she had gotten at the bar, Ocasio-Cortez gave the waitress only $50. After the waitress complained to her manager, her take was doubled to $100, a source said.

“It says so much about her character,” said my source. “From that point on, I wouldn’t talk to her. I couldn’t look at her.”

She took other employees share of tips. In 2017!!!!! Now that’s a socialist.

Democrats care about children ONLY in the sense that they PIMP THEM OUT. They fucking KNOW when we give money to parents who are so unfit they don’t even have enough money to feed, clothe or house their offspring that they DO NOT CARE AND WILL USE THE MONEY TO BUY GIFTS FOR THE BABY’S DADDY. They fucking KNOW that SECTION 8, SNAP, WIC, WELFARE, MEDICAID and all other forms of SLAVERY (they have the children knowing they can’t care for them, they don’t care, and the more they have the more free stuff and money they get) HURT THE CHILDREN. They fucking KNOW that most of these people HIT, RAPE, BURN and murder their children and in between birth and death or when the children are able to RUN AWAY they PIMP THEM OUT SEXUALLY too. I have NEVER seen a protest over the fact that 1000’s of children are separated from their parents DAILY in this country because they knowingly commit crimes and are arrested. This entire conversation is so disgusting to me–a child’s advocate–that I would like to beat bloody every single idiot that is talking about the alleged travesty of the United States separating criminals from their children so we can throw them in jail when these fucking people aren’t even Americans. THEY HAVE NO RIGHTS YOU IDIOTS not in my country other than basic human needs being met and they are so STFU. Why don’t you really care about children and stop the slavery of American children that is running rampant and has been for 50 plus years. And before I am attacked sure this is not ‘all’ welfare recipients but it is MANY (worked with programs for 30 years) and by the way I do not want to FUCKING pay for your children anymore. If you have children make sure you have the means to pay for them STOP THE ENTITLEMENTS, STOP THE ABUSE, STOP THE HYPOCRISY shut it down now. I love children and they deserve better than this but no one will say the truth 😦

  12. Lulu says:

I think we are seeing the Dems split up even more. It may be worse than in 2008. After kicking out moderates, blue dogs, and all the RAAAACCCIIIISTTTS! they had just enough true Progs, minorities and young people to cheat it out. With the additional culling of the herd currently going on with socialism (The Bernies), lawfare and thieving (Obama-ites), personality disorderd feminists (Hillary), open borderers (globalists and foreign nationals), enviro’s (odd and murderous billionaires) fighting over what is left of a bilgey shipwreck for dominance, and a bunch of really old and worn-out types heading the party with no message but give us money, I think it is going to be a localized urban party with little to no clout and it is probably only that already. I said this in 2008 too. Thanks Donna Brazile for getting the ball rolling with the purge.

Is Trump the Most Fun President Ever?

If you’ve been fed up with the left’s hijacking of America, he certainly is fun — because bit by bit he’s dismantling their power, supply train, and prestige. The shaky premises upon which they’ve controlled life in America for some time is being exposed and overturned. Let me explain.

    • Lulu says:

I think back now to when I didn’t LIKE him. I wasn’t used to him. His speech was odd to me and jarring. As I got used to it I started liking him a little. Then I started “getting” his jokes, sarcasm, and his style of sneering. Scott Adams really helped me get his communication style. Only then could I HEAR what he was saying and meaning. Then I really liked him. Still do.

      • Lulu says:

President Trump is a world class sneerer. I don’t recall having a sneerer for President until Obama. Without Obama breaking the sneering ceiling I don’t think we could have had World Champion Sneerer President Trump. I am referring to public sneering of course. Private sneering of presidents pre-Obama I don’t know about. JFK did sneer at lot I have read.

        • DeniseVB says:

I was in high school when JFK was elected……and sadly, assassinated. My memory was that he liked us, he really liked us! Of course, we adored Jackie. I never got the feeling Obama liked me. I know Trump loves me, what person gives up that kind of lifestyle and a billion dollars in loss for ME ? ❤

          • Lulu says:

The Kennedy’s (as a whole not individually so much) sneered in private towards “lessers”. On the other side the Brits “sneered” at the Kennedy’s while Old Joe was ambassador. It is a kiss up-kick down type of sneering I would gather.

    • Dora says:

I didn’t realize you didn’t like him at first. I hear that a lot. It seems to take time to get used to his way of talking. Especially for people in the middle states.

As for me, I grew up in both Queens and Long Island and when Donald Trump announced his candidacy, I felt like he was one of the gang from the old neighborhood. . I was on board before he even reached the bottom of the escalator that day. 🙂

      • DeniseVB says:

Me too. Even though I was in a rival Brooklyn “gang”. In a lot of the walkaway testimonials, Trump had them at the escalator, like a boss 🙂

      • lyn says:

Dora’s last sentence is pure gold.

      • Lulu says:

I am from the Deep South/Texas accents area. The Queens accent is unusual to our ears especially someone like me who doesn’t watch a lot of network television. Hubby has a west/south Texas twangy-type accent and I am a mush-mouth somewhat. Often I can understand Brits better than certain areas in the Northeast. I think it was the Queens accent but also sentence construction and syntax were weird to our ears. We did not watch the Apprentice or follow NYC society so he was known but not very well. And I found him brashly charming after a while.

        • Anthony says:

Funny, my criticism used to be “He’s a little Queensy, but I’ll get over it”. Then I remembered he’s from Queens, and slapped my own mouth lol. I love having a New York Mouth in the White House. Fun to watch the ‘Leets’™ sqirm

What the hell is ICE you might ask? Surber explains it very well here…..

His bottom line says it all.

Let us review. By calling for the abolition of ICE, Democrats support 1. drugs and gun running, 2. money laundering, 3. rapists, 4. human rights violators, 5. terrorism, 6. the mutilation of women, 7. human trafficking, and 8. child porn.

Considering how much crime there is in the cities Democrats run, I am not surprised.

A long time ago I had a class of students who were die-hard socialists, or so they thought. They were constantly harping on how unfair life is. I was a science teacher with a curriculum of my own to teach, but it bothered me the kids had no idea what they were asking for. One night when I was grading quizzes, I added up all of the scores, divided by 25, and gave every kid the same grade. The kids who usually got lower grades were delighted, the middle kids didn’t really care because they scored about the same, and the kids at the top of the class were mad. But it was only one quiz so no one complained to anyone but me about it.
The next week I gave another quiz, and this time I told the kids I would be grading the same way. The lowest scores on the test were lower pulling everyone’s grades down from the week before. The middle and top students had worked as hard to prepare as they had the week before, but they had less to show for it. Week 3 the top students grades fell some, too. Now we were in territory where there were not enough good grades to pull the other kids up. Week 4 no one prepared for the quiz, and the grade the class got was a “D”. The five top students tried to drop the class. The middle students blamed the top students for not getting good enough grades to rescue the rest of the class, but it was interesting that they also blamed them for not doing more to help the other kids do better on the quizzes.
By this time I had clued my principal into what I was doing so I wouldn’t lose my job over this. I gave the kids a unit test on the same material and told them they could replace their quiz grades for the unit test score. No point sharing. The top kids aced the test and walked away with the grade they thought they deserved, although they had done poorly on one of the quizzes, too. The bottom of class thought they should be able to keep the quiz grades instead. I let them, and I let the class know I had. The middle of the class was upset because if they had known they could have just kept the quiz grades, they would have punted on the unit test because the average of those grades was good enough.
I’m pretty sure I created at least 5 capitalists and solidified socialism as the way to go for the laziest members of the class. But long term I don’t know what lesson the kids in the middle academically took away from it. I know they realized if they had to carry the kids with poor grades on their backs, they needed the top students to carry some of the load. Whether that made them appreciative of the value the top students brought or resented them, I don’t know. The kids who benefitted from other people’s work didn’t get enough extra points to make a real difference in their semester grades. They did sign up for other classes I taught in hopes I would do the experiment again. 😉
