I Dunno, Maybe

Apparently (Yes he is your) President Trump surprised few people last night by picking Brett Kavanaughty-Boy to be the next victim of the Confirmation Inquisitors aka “The Senate Judiciary Committee.” I fell asleep after dinner and missed the announcement. According to former Governor Terry McAulifflower there are already thousands of dead bodies littering the streets of America just from the announcement. (Drive careful if you are commuting this morning.)

I hate to disappoint you but I don’t know if I should be excited or what. I know you guys pay big money so I will share my wisdom with you but right now I ain’t got any.

There are a bunch of different questions about Kavanaughty-Boy, such as “Will he be a good Justice?” and “Will he be confirmed?”

The only answer I have is “I dunno. Maybe.” to both questions.

(Stops to squash tiny little bug racing across his desk.)

Where was I? Oh, yeah – Is this an open thread?

I dunno. Maybe.

For some reason I have been sitting up in my sleep. I keep waking up sitting on the edge of the bed. (This is an improvement from waking up as I fall off the bed.)

The cats believe that if I am sitting up I am awake and proceed to bombard me with attention and demands for food. I keep telling them I am not a morning person but they do not care. Even Molly has gotten into the act. She comes into my room at zero-dark-30 hours and meows loudly until I get up and let her outside.

I am going to bed now. Hopefully I can get an hour or two of sleep in before the day shift starts.

    • Myiq2xu™ says:

When I brought Molly home from the shelter she was quiet and timid. The boys ruined her. Now she’s bossy.

      • Somebody says:

Maybe you have sleep apnea and your apnea episodes are waking you. Do you sleep on your side? If not try that. Use pillows to make a cocoon so to speak. One in front of you, hold it like you are hugging or dancing. One small pillow between your legs to align your hips and finally a pillow behind you, spooning you.

The point is to keep you on your side because you are far less likely to suffer an apnea episode on your side. You can also use tennis balls in a fanny pack, with the balls in the small of your back. Any kind of sling works as long as it is secure. Again the balls will keep you on your side.

Those are both tests to see if you sleep longer and/or get more deep sleep. If you do get better sleep then you may be having apnea episodes. What you decide to do after that is up to you. Having been through all the expensive testing, blah, blah. I could have just purchased a CPAP on Amazon and saved myself a LOT of $. Hubby let me go through it, learned how to download all the data to adjust it.

Then hubby bought his own CPAP and used my charts as a model. No doctors, no hassle, no recurring appointments, no creepy insurance company uploading your sleep patterns via cell tower, etc., and a lot less $.

        • lateblum says:

Good for you and Mr. Somebody. Those insurance companies are getting creepier by the day. Mine continues to harass me with phone calls “inviting” me to join their “house calls program”. I keep telling them I’m not interested in having people I don’t know in my private space. They keep insisting it is because it is a “wonderful and caring” program that will “help” me. So sick of these scams…

          • DeniseVB says:

We get those “house calls programs” too. My dh has had the same doctor for 30 years and he stormed in to his office to say, take me off your call/email list. And they did. As for me, I use the Doc in the Box down the road for acute problems. About twice in 30 years. 🙂

Did you get your WiFi nightmare fixed ?

          • lateblum says:

My dd#1 (IT wizard that she is) came over and spent all day yesterday fixing the mess for me – or at least trying to fix the very bad nightmare. She decided – with the assistance of her really good friend who works in the fraud division of a big company here – that it was a one-time thing and that it would most likely not happen again (I hope they’re right.) She gave me specific directions should if recur. I feel way less stressed right now. Thanks for checking.

  13. elliesmom says:

I talked Elliesdad into watching last night. The grandies had just left after 10 days with us so we were both tired. He is pleased with the pick and more pleased he voted for Trump everyday. (That was a hard sell, and until last night I wasn’t sure I had closed the deal.) Elliesdad’s comment was, “He’s a good dad, a loving husband, and a grateful son. He’s well-educated and has experience on the bench. But mostly, he’s humble.” I hadn’t thought about the humility part, but Elliesdad is right. If you’re humble, you’re less likely to believe you know better than the fellows who wrote the Constitution and all of the justices who have come before you. What kind of hubris does it take to invent something in the Constitution to push your personal agenda?

Elliesdad hadn’t been following the progression very well. With the kids here, it’s not easy to keep up with the news. When I described the four probable finalists to him before the announcement, he said, “It’s not going to be Amy Coney Barrett. Come on, this is Trump. He’ll save her for Ruthie’s replacement. He’ll have a larger Republican majority in the Senate after November, and how much longer can that crone be propped up?”

Dispatches From The ‘Tolerant’ Left’s War On Trump Supporters

Angry Opposition: Every day brings new examples of the supposedly open-minded, inclusive, tolerant, peace-loving left threatening or attacking Trump administration officials or Trump supporters. Hatred and intolerance has been standard operating procedure on the extreme left. But thanks to enablers among Democrats and the press, it’s quickly becoming dangerously “mainstream.”

Bah! Until Booker finds the balls to come out of the closet, I’m not really interested in anything he has to say. He poses as a fearless maverick but in reality is just one more hateful nellie queen hiding n his walk-in closet.

      • DeniseVB says:

In this day and age, why wouldn’t a gay Dem come out? His personal life is almost non-existent in a web search, late 40’s and pretty hot, how has he stayed so “single” for so long? I wouldn’t care, but the LGBTQRST’s would have a champion for their “cause”, a Senator fer crissakes. It’s just weird. I liked him a lot before he became a DemBot soldier of destroying all things Trump, including voting against a gay Ambassador.

        • Anthony says:

The problem is that being gay and AA at the same time would ostracize him from the AA community. He rather have the ethnic vote behind him (pun very much intentional) than gays. Most AA men I know are on the down low because coming out brings the equivalent of a good old fashioned Amish shunning in their own community.

          • DeniseVB says:

Ok, is this a politcal or social “rule”. One of my interns from my veterinary hospital office manager years, was a lovely white gay, who married a lovely black gay. They went on to create a YUGE affordable vet clinic franchise in the area.

          • Anthony says:

It’s a (sub)cultural thing. Most of my gay AA friends dont dare let friends/family know because they’d be ostracized or worse. Years ago I had an AA bf who wouldn’t even bring me to his neighborhood because he needed to keep on the dl. And also I’m white, so according to him we both disappear. There are indeed exceptions like your friend and his bf. Far as I know, that’s unfortunately the exception and not the rule.

        • Underwhelmed says:

He’s AA. That subset has a huge issue with gay men.

    • helenk3 says:

      weird question
if you paid someone to kill another person (retroactive abortion), you go to jail if you get caught. From what I understand the dems big problem is that the taxpayer will not pay for a woman to kill her baby (abortion) what is the difference?

      • DeniseVB says:

PP has a political pac that gives millions to Dem politicians. That’s what bugs me most, it’s money laundering with MY money. Plus I’ve read too many creepy articles that they cover up for victims of pedophiles and sex traffickers. What about those frightened teen girls who kill their newborns and go to jail ? PP doesn’t seem to care about them even though they want to legalize 3rd trimester abortions? Where does it end for these ghouls?

So yes, my taxpayer money would be better spent at neighborhood free health clinics that takes care of the whole woman and her children.

It’s now at the point that I can no longer listen to ANY of the politicians – or their stand-ins. Earlier this morning one of the dem “explainers” was on tv talking about how terrible this nominee is. The message sounded “canned” and she usually is nothing but talking points anyway. But today I finally had enough and just muted the tv after a I threw out a few choice words of my own.
I started to listen to Schumer just now and nearly lost it. I can’t believe I used to buy into the Democrats and that they are such phonies. I think I was more upset with myself than with Schumer. I was stupid enough at one time to think the D party actually cared. I don’t trust the R’s either.

Here in swampland that has never been an easy task as the candidates for the Ds have been leaning left further and further each year to the point that parts of Maryland are likely to tip over into the ocean long before Guam and the Rs are few and far between and many of them are Ds (and Gs) just dressed up as Rs and both sides just have had some real fruitcakes.

Well I want you all to know that I am deeply disappointed. Governor Cauliflower of Virginia promised there would be dead bodies strewn every which way today and I saw nary a one on my 25 mile long morning commute from Mary-land to Virgin-ia. Not even a sad zombie.

But do not be discouraged. The swamp has heard the call of the unicorns. Asas with the revolt against those plastic bags that were stalking innocents along the Potomac, and following in the footsteps of their poo infested brethren in CA, the District of Columbia has decided to take on those horrid hordes of slurping sticks also know as straws. Yes, with random drive by shootings and knife attacks increasing, a metro rail system that is barely functioning and kids who graduate high school with honors but cannot read a simple sentence, it is clear that such minor problems must be swept aside while they tackle the malevolence lurking in the city’s eateries.

    • Anthony says:

Great reporting, Mt. Laurel! No bodies here either, but I got word from reliable sources that the Progressive Zombie Apocalypse is going to jump off any day now and will last til summer recess is over.

    • Mt.Laurel says:

I saw this last night. A couple not so one sided political sites have said it was a very smart and expected pick because Kavanaugh approach is to respect the Rule of Law and the Constitution. Good for getting the SCOTUS back on track and away from trying to legislate from the bench, which is a priority for PDJT . And it sets up to make those who oppose look even more off their rockers as they will be arguing against sound and rational decision making.

      • Myiq2xu™ says:

Kavanaugh is GOPe approved and has connections to the Bush clan. By picking him Trump ensured that there would be no opposition from the right. All they have to do is bring in McCain’s corpse to cast a “yes” vote and they won’t even need Pence to break a tie.

        • Mt.Laurel says:

I assumed that is what they inferred since they started with GWs support being a signal. More along the lines of at this point in time this is a smart move. I think they were giving PT kudos for going this direction now as he is likely to have another chance or two for SCOTUS nominations and may indeed wind up with a better chance at going with a harder sell pick after the election.
