Pretty much every American news outlet is gleeful about the “giant Trump baby balloon,” as it is conventionally described, that supposedly is dominating the London landscape while Trump is in England. London’s Mayor, Sadiq Khan, gave activists permission to fly the blimp (as it is also referred to), which apparently was needed because it is so “giant.”

Even though he died years ago, Roy Orbison will be going on tour in the fall. I don’t really like this new world we are living in. It gives me the creeps.

Roy Orbison hologram tour moves stateside

The “In Dreams” tour, featuring a holographic version of the iconic rock-and-roll musician, will kick off a 28-stop tour through the United States in October, complete with a full live orchestra and “newly recorded, never-before-heard, digitally remastered arrangements of his classics.”

I think PDJT enjoys the cat and mouse game he plays with Acosta and the rest of the media, he’s had over 40 years experience being attacked !

For Democrats, it may be a case of be careful what you wish for. There appears to be a steadily growing apprehension that their new superstar might turn on them.

Democrats finally received an infusion of fresh blood when the young and telegenic Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shocked the nation with her monumental upset win on June 26, in the Democratic primary for New York’s 14th congressional district.

I don’t know how Ireland could have changed so drastically in such a short period of time, but it’s making me very sad.

IRISH SENATE votes to boycott Israeli goods. Time for America to start boycotting Irish goods…and travelers

The Irish Senate has voted to criminalize any trade with the Israeli territories of Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem. Punishment for each violation would be five years in prison and a fine of more than $310,000. Apparently, the Irish have no problem doing business with countries in Africa and the Middle East where Christians are being persecuted, slaughtered, and ethnically cleansed out of existence.

Sweet story. Son was being “treated in the U.S”, despite their wealth, was Canada not an option? The best pediatric cancer center is St. Jude’s. (My bad for thinking I hope Buble hasn’t trashed the Trumps who donate heavily…….couldn’t find it if he did). Lucky little boy, glad he’s okay.

    • Mt.Laurel says:

I am reasonably sure he would have given a nice donation – but may not want any special publicity. My guess they chose that hospital because facilities like Judes and Shriners, although known for their quality of care, operate somewhat outside the established reimbursement structure and it would not look as if they were getting put ahead of others because the Bubles would be private pay.

Carry over from yesterday. There is an African American female Republican running against “Purple Heart” Cohen in TN. I would hope in a gerrymandered district that is nearly 70% AA, Charlotte Bergmann could pull an upset.

I was thinking Trump should have asked the Queen she knew of a nice antique chopping block and axe in their vast storerooms that could be spared as he thought it would look nice on the front lawn of the WH and remind people just what happens to traitors.

This fucking heat is oppressing me. It is sapping me of my energy, vitality, and will to live.

OTOH, I have a gang of free, ripe tomatoes fresh off the vine. I’ll leave them out front if you want to come by and get some.

    • DeniseVB says:

I peeked at your weather forecast, gird your loins and pray to the HVAC and Power Company Gods, and stay inside! You ain’t seen nothing yet 😀

    • lateblum says:

I remember the feeling. Heat has that affect on ppl. So get into a cool shower, or use a wet washcloth on your neck and forehead. Or… take an ice cube and rub your wrists with it. If you can, turn on an air conditioner – for even a brief time to cool down. Drink plenty of cool to cold fluids especially caffeine-free fluids.
At one time, the only air conditioning I had was my car. So I’d go for a drive, or just sit in it for a while to cool off. Frankly, I don’t know how I survived July of 1995 here. The heat was so bad and lasted for so long, that over 700 ppl died here. I had no AC in my apartment and it faces south and west. So it was hotter than hell in here. Thank goodness I worked in an air conditioned building.
Take care to cool off even if you don’t feel like it. ❤️

      • DeniseVB says:

I assumed myiq had A/C ? We keep a window sized one as a back-up for power outages and HVAC breakdowns. My dh was in Chicago during that heatwave helping his friend and son renovate a fixer-upper and working outside replacing a deck. He remembers it well.

        • lateblum says:

I can’t imagine how horribly difficult it was for them. I hadn’t ever experienced a summer like that… and I went to college near St. Louis where the summers were hot, humid and without relief. But I lived, worked and studied in A/C buildings there.
The scariest thing of all is this kind of weather does cause brain cells to stop functioning, leading to ppl becoming confused, apathetic, and unable to make decisions about keeping themselves alive. We saw the numbers in our psych unit leap with depressed and even suicidal people.
When the weather finally returned to normal, there were over 700 ppl who had died. There were refrigerated (train) boxcars filled with bodies of ppl who had been rendered unable to function and/or demonstrate a will to live during that time.
I think that summer may have been the catalyst for a 3 1 1 phone system that would, in the future, lead to greater information, services and facilities available to people going through these types of situations.
