Sunday Open Thingie

WTF? Do you even civics, bro?

I would have asked that question of the author, but The New Yorker doesn’t allow comments. If this article is any indication of the quality of their writing then I can understand why they don’t want any feedback.

What are you looking at, bub?

I used to subscribe to The New Yorker until the commies took it over. And their resident “humorist” Andy Borowitz ? I never found him funny even when I was a left wing nut job 😉

You’d be surprised how many of these articles show up on my FB timeline, from “friends”. Or goofy meme stuff from “Occupy Democrats” as proof they’re right and I’m wrong. It’s probably the worst part of social media to realize why you never stayed real life friends in the first place 😛

“It’s probably the worst part of social media to realize why you never stayed real life friends in the first place”
I know! I’m so disillusioned with Facebook I hardly even check it anymore and only post things to irritate my ex such as house remodel photos or pictures with unidentified good looking men in view. I always had romantic, positive views of the friends I lost touch with and being forced to witness their current lives is so disillusioning!

      • Ann says:

I have 4 Facebook “friends”, 2 of which do not post anything either (Facebook blows). Save a LOT of time and aggravation to just do my blogging groups and not bother to update my status.

But who did the media decide to”interview” and broadcast it as news?
“As I watched an interview on WGN Live, they interviewed a local male who stated “well I didn’t see the shooting but I Heard he did’t have a gun on him”. So as someone who watched the POD video that captured the entire incident, several times over to watch each movement “snoop” made. He had a holster on his body from which he pulled out a gun and at one point, had it pointed towards officer’s before he was shot. Why is it that news media outlets put idiots who were not on scene to give their versions of events, only to cause more hate in the community? ”

And there again is glen brooks the director of “I drive my city vehicle drunk and crash into parked cars”, standing by the cameras like statue and never moving his lips.

  5. Lulu says:

Trump is doing the same thing to EU countries that he did to high tax blue states. The EU through NATO off-loaded (or cost shifted/transferred) their own military defense to the taxpayers of the US. This allowed lots of social spending/SJW virtue signalling/bullshit. The primary EU countries, Germany, France, UK, Sweden, etc did the same thing (and other less powerful culturally or economically developed countries, Greece, Portugal, Eastern bloc, etc have paid the price trying to keep up). The EU is over-extended wtih big salaries, pensions, dopey programs, required freebies for migrants, just like blue states are with the same stuff (and why the EU is horrified at the prospect of no UK money). For blue states in the US they are facing tax reform where their subsidies from the rest of the US for their federal income tax deduction is being cut and the EU will have to pony up cash promised on progressive priorities but demanded by Trump for their own defense. Democrats, EU techocrats and globalists can’t exist without cost shifting to the involuntarily taxed. It is too expensive and they don’t/can’t pay for their crap themselves. It really is brilliant.

They already talk on the phone and have worked something out. President Trump wouldn’t be wasting face time, nor would Putin, if this wasn’t true. They are NOT dissing each other. The old neocon types are doing the dissing as well as hysterical Democrats who are worried about Iran imploding with Putin not caring.

      • DeniseVB says:

That, and the fact that Putin probably respects Trump more than he did Obama. If they were going to rig the election, they’d definitely want Hillary who made some sweet deals with them.

    • Constance says:

Or at least as everyone here has suggested I hope Putin sets up a team of lawyers and who demand to see what the FBI has on them.

Woo Hoo! This Wednesday I’m going to get to enjoy some live authentic Motown music. Our local free Concert In The Park is featuring Martha Reeves and the Vandellas for her 77th birthday that day. We live only 3 blocks from the park and fairgrounds, we can hear the music each week from our house if we happen to be outside or have the windows open. They have an outdoor acoustic shell with a small stage built by a curved natural slope that faces the woods, and you can bring a blanket to sit on. During the 4th they had a Beatles cover band that are very good and perform often, we were BBQ’ing and bopping to the songs (and at dusk we can see the fireworks set off at the park from our patio). It’s been ages since we’ve actually strolled up there to watch a concert in person but hubby loves Motown as much as I do and saw it in the paper this morning. So it’s on. Can’t miss seeing the real Martha.

They certainly are, whether she likes/wants or not.

    • Propertius says:

The sign was photoshopped. The original (in the unaltered photograph) didn’t say that – somebody on the twitter exchange found the original and posted them side-by-side.

  22. Propertius says:

As Barack Obama once famously observed, “Elections have consequences.”

If you don’t like the way this one turned out, do better next time. Maybe even try campaigning in Wisconsin instead of the Hamptons.

    • Cisco says:

      Oh.!
      That’s gonna leave a mark😂👍😂

      • Propertius says:

Whatever you might think of either Trump or Hillary, I don’t see how you can possibly ignore the fact that Clinton ran the single most inept Presidential campaign in living memory. She took the “Blue Wall” for granted and spent all her money and energy in a pointless effort to run up her popular vote totals in New York and California. She ignored repeated warnings from experienced people on the ground that she was in trouble in the battleground states. She basically, as Lambert over on Naked Capitalism observed, “lit a billion dollars on fire and just threw it up in the air.”

Everybody knew the rules going in. Bleating that a legitimate electoral college victory is “unearned” is just pathetic. Complaining that the Republicans might use the Senate rule changes put in place by Harry Reid as precedent to limit debate and push through confirmation is not only pathetic but hypocritical. Yeah, the Republicans control the Senate – they won the elections. That’s kind of what representative democracy is all about.

I’ll get off the soapbox now ;-).

        • DeniseVB says:

Hillary seemed over confident to me, even when they were doing Common Core math during the Dem primaries (Bernie won the most votes, but Hill gets the delegates?)

I saw the Trump victory by the size of his rallies and he talked TO the people, not AT them. If you read those #WalkAway testimonials, that’s what seemed to bring the Bernies to Trump’s side. Also, a few smarties started realizing the negative Trump media was taking a lot of his rally speeches out of context.

          • Myiq2xu™ says:

Hillary was confident because IT WAS HER TURN, DAMMIT!

          • DeniseVB says:

And why am I not 50 points ahead you might ask……? Yeah, that was a vote getter 😉

          • Mt.Laurel says:

I have wondered if they were so sure of winning (well losing a fixed election is difficult) that they wanted to run up the popular vote to help energize their efforts to get rid of the electoral college. After-all, they had opened up the country to countless illegals, assorted riff raff, terrorists and a boat load of sociopaths from all over the world to help ensure that global cable would retain power in perpetuity. If they could just erase a few of the remaining barriers, the USA would not just fall, avenues of recourse would have been erased.

      Finally, supporters show up!

      • Cisco says:

President Trump has many supporters, I believe at least 63 million here in America, but the State run media of the DNC, only chooses to run the negative.

      • DeniseVB says:

His supporters have always been there, but the media just doesn’t show them. The big Pro-Trump/Free Tommy rally yesterday in London did “not exist” either. What was covered was called a Nazi rally.
