M.O.O.T. – Privilege Edition

Glenn Beck is keeping it real, and triggering the snowflakes.

Here is the rest of the thread unrolled:

The idea of America is that we are all the same. Men, women, black, white or yellow. We haven’t been perfect and as my great grand fathers death shows, at times Americans have been monsters. Who do you choose to be victor or victim?

I dishonor my forefathers by denying what they struggled so hard to build. Every parent works hard so their children don’t have to work so hard. That is privilege, and it was earned. Do not deny it. Instead build from where you are and help others believe and do.

Here come the snowflakes!

Your life is easier because you are white. That is unearned privilege. Tell us, what books have you read on this subject? How have you educated yourself on this topic? Please let us know.

Wow…..if I liked you, I would tell you to quick delete this tweet before you live to regret it. But since I think you’re a tremendous loser, you should definitely leave the tweet out there.

That you believe the only privilege you have was earned shows that you don’t understand what white privilege means.

I figured out a long time ago that Beck is a 90 percenter. That means that approximately 90% of the time he is a sane, rational conservative, but every once in a while he is gonna make a hard left or hard right turn into Crazytown. But not today.

My grandfathers (legal immigrants from Ireland and Italy) born in 1899-ish, fought in WW1. So that would have made my great-grandfathers still in Ireland and Italy 20-40 years earlier and not fighting in the Civil War as toddlers? Mr. Beck was born the year I graduated high school, I just can’t do the math in my head that would have put his “great” grandfather at Andersonville?

Sidebar: I was a yuge fan of his Fox show’s chalkboards, attended his rally in DC, then an NYC event to launch his *New* platform? THEN, went to a local forum he and Bill O’Reilly teamed up for at a local campus tour. Can’t remember much after when Beck went cray-cray 😉

      *****
It’s Glenn Beck math. My Great Grandmother was a little girl when her parents hid wounded Confederate soldiers in their attic when the Yankees occupied Loudoun County Va.

    • Mt.Laurel says:

Beck might have a time-line similar to mine as he is close to me in age.

Both sets of grandparents born in 1880s in USA (all in Pennsylvania). Mom’s side both grandparents were first generation children of immigrants who arrived in the 1870s so no one served in Civil War in any capacity. Dad’s side has been here quite but the my grandmother’s father was a conscious objector for Civil War (he and other family members worked in the hospitals in Pennsylvania for the Civil war and ancestors worked in other capacities during the Revolutionary War but would not carry arms) . Several of my grandfather’s uncles fought for the union and three were killed. His own father, was exempted due to health. So yes, it is possible that Beck lost his great grandfather to the the horrid conditions that permeated many of the prisoner camps. Not that conditions for many were all that great, but Andersonville is the one that really stood out.

At the time of the Civil War, my dad’s family were tenant farmers. Not slaves, but not property owners. They fought in the war. Later generations used things like the GI bill to buy homes and get an education. Their kids are solidly middle class except for the one who took a detour through the crossbar motel, and even he’s doing OK now. No one is a billionaire, but most of us have been to college, own homes, and have some investments. We’ve all pitched in and helped each other when needed. It’s what family does. If anything we’ve had is a privilege, it’s having each other. Given Obama went from being the son of a welfare mom and a bigamist to being POTUS and a multi-millionaire, I’d say he’s run into some privilege. I wouldn’t say getting a leg up by paying for college and getting a low interest mortgage in exchange for risking your life for your country represents a privilege, and that’s how my dad and his brothers made a financial leap.

      • Constance says:

Well only Obama’s white half got the privilege soooo……..

        • helenk3 says:

white privilege did not do backtrack’s grandmom much good. How long did he leave her in the morgue before he got around to buring her? This is the woman who worked to support him. moved from the midwest to Hawaii so he would not face discrimiation

      • Jadzia says:

I think of privilege as being essentially the same thing as luck, and had an interesting conversation with a jumped-up Frenchy yesterday about how we all have it–it’s just that sometimes it comes in an interesting guise. Yes, I came from a working-class (ok, poor) family–but had the luck to have educated parents, allowing me to see the existence of a life further than 1 mile from the iron-ore mine. Yes, I worked my ass off in college and law school–but being a pretty girl who certain professors and law-review editors wanted to help and promote was luck (and temporary). Yes, I worked hard to get the “prestige” job that got me into law school in the first place. Know how I got it? The lady who was leaving the job met an old friend of mine by utter chance, 1000 miles away from said job, and that old friend talked me up and got her to tell the hiring committee to take me out of the resume pile and into the much smaller interview pile. Everybody’s luck is a little bit different. And luck can move mountains, but ya still gotta bring a shovel.

Medical website ‘Healthline’ jumps on transgender bandwagon with ‘gender-inclusive’ sex guide

But as always, things can actually get stupider. One of the self-described “fastest growing health information sites” in the world servicing 85 million people a month, Healthline, has provided a “LGBTQIA Safe Sex Guide” (for those of you wondering about the latest letters in the rainbow alphabet soup, the “I” stands for intersex and the “A” stands for asexual, apparently.) Ironically, I saw it when an incredulous liberal posted a screenshot, noting that he had at first thought that he was reading satire. As it turns out, the word “vagina” is now falling into disfavor for being insufficiently “gender-inclusive”:

For the purposes of this guide, we’ll refer to the vagina as the “front hole” instead of solely using the medical term “vagina.” This is gender-inclusive language that’s considerate of the fact that some trans people don’t identify with the labels the medical community attaches to their genitals.

For example, some trans and nonbinary-identified people assigned female at birth may enjoy being the receptor of penetrative sex, but experience gender dysphoria when that part of their body is referred to using a word that society and professional communities often associate with femaleness. An alternative that’s becoming increasingly popular in trans and queer communities is front hole.

  8. Cisco says:

It’s a cut and paste, I apologize, but this is why Chicago is soooo fucked up.
You see, ‘da community isn’t the problem, it’s the police.
More than 120 people gathered to protest the death of 15-year-old Steve Rosenthal, who police say fatally shot himself on the back stairwell of his West Side home after he was briefly chased by officers who allegedly saw him holding a handgun.

Shouting “No justice, no peace,” or “Let us see Steve,” the crowd gathered Sunday at Johnson School of Excellence at 1420 S. Albany Ave. and marched to Mount Sinai Medical Center a few blocks away, shutting down both lanes of Ogden Avenue at times.

A brief altercation ensued outside the hospital’s emergency room when a large group chanting “Let us see Steve” tried to force their way into the building and scuffled briefly with security officers blocking the doorway. A few people in the crowd wondered why the protesters went to the hospital rather than the Cook County medical examiner’s office, where the teen’s body was taken for an autopsy.
Um, because you’re idiots, being led by morons. Next question?

    Then the speeches start:
“Steven was on the stairwell of his grandmother’s house on the West Side of Chicago when police officers stormed up the stairwell chasing,” the family’s attorney, Andrew Stroth, said at a news conference prior to the march Sunday. “Within moments, these officers, without cause or provocation, shot and killed 15-year old Steven. … Based on several eyewitness accounts, these officers ended the hopes and the dreams of a talented young man with a bright future.”

Rosenthal’s aunt, the teen’s legal guardian, sobbed as she made a public plea to Mayor Rahm Emanuel to order the release of any body camera recordings of the shooting.

“My 15-year old nephew Steven was shot and killed by the Chicago Police Department,” Terinica Thomas, 28, said, weeping and shaking visibly as she stood before the news media. “I need the attention of Mayor Emanuel. I need to see evidence. Body cams. They need to release the video. My nephew would never commit suicide ever. … If he (Emanuel) even had the smallest compassion for our family, he’d get those videotapes released.”
These are actionable statements, and as soon as the autopsy report is released, the FOP should be (A) suing the attorney, (B) suing auntie and (C) seeking to disbar the attorney.
    The autopsy will show gunpowder residue on the dead individual;
    the autopsy will show massive damage to the deceased’s mouth from a gun firing inside it;
the autopsy will show the bullet exited his skull, upward, from the mouth
A judgement should be sought against auntie, since she’s an idiot. The attorney license ought to be framed and mounted on the wall of the FOP Hall where everyone can look and laugh at it. Let’s get on this FOP – the info is right there in front of you. We know someone down there has some balls – use them.

More and more studies show that transexuals are having problems getting anyone to have sex with them regardless of what they call their “holes”. Mother nature’s work is preferred overwhelmingly to a surgeon’s best attempts to please psychotics. So if no one wants to have anything to do with your “hole” does it matter what you call it? Men jokingly give their penises names like Johnson so maybe surgically made “front holes” should be called Eunice. Women with natural born reproductive systems just keep calling them “it” or the source of all their sorrow if third wave feminist.

Tenants terrified of mystery gunman taking aim at apartment building

Residents of a swanky Upper East Side high-rise have 24-hour gated entry, a heated indoor pool, breathtaking views of the river — and bullets whizzing through their windows.

A mystery gunman is shooting up apartments at One East River Place from clear across the water on Roosevelt Island, law enforcement sources told The Post.

    Now its residents are terrified.

Afraid to Get Their Principles Wet

But a group of NeverTrumpers like Jonah adopted a less radical stance and conceded that many or even most of Trump’s policy actions were actually conservative, and ones they agreed with. What made them NeverTrumpers was his horrible, defective character. Most prominent among this group was Bret Stephens, whom I have also admired and promoted in the past. At the end of Trump’s first year, Stephens wrote a column for the New York Times—the position being an obvious reward for his defection—called “Why I’m Still A Never Trumper.” In it he praised Trump’s major policy actions since entering the White House. But then he attacked Trump’s bad character, which was unpresidential and indefensible. And averred: “I still wish Hillary Clinton were president.”

Jury in Manafort case asked the judge what it means for the verdict if they can’t come to consensus on a single count. Of course the question was ambiguous. Do they mean just one count, or any single count. I’m going to guess they meant they’re stuck on just one count, and have consensus on the rest. And sadly, I’m going to guess guilty on all but one count so far. There’s no way to know, but it would be irresponsible not to speculate. 🙂

    • lyn says:

I read it as any single count. I hope someone is holding out on all the counts. Fuck Mueller and his Clintonistas.

    • Somebody says:

Oh I hope not Dandy, I hope Mueller and team get an ass kicking. I hope it’s not guilty on all but one, and hung jury on one count.

I still don’t understand how Mueller can prosecute Manafort, most of the stuff he charged him with is beyond the statute of limitations. Can the government just ignore the statute of limitations?? The charges for not registering as a representative of a foreign agent are in DC with a different judge. He’s guilty of that and it’s more current. That being said at least half of DC is guilty of not registering.
