Apologies to the American Pickers, I do like them. I was watching a couple of their shows yesterday and they did remind me of a similar photo comparison to David and Emma, so I had to dig it up to laugh at again 😀

LOL. Thanks. I needed that this morning. The A/C has a short in it and making whining/groaning noises and won’t cycle on. I see hundred dollar bills flying out the window.

      • blowme0bama says:

        Yup, AC repair is expen$ive.

      • DeniseVB says:

Oh noes! Here’s hoping she decides to kick in before you have to make The Call ❤

        • Lulu says:

They were here yesterday and put in a new thermostat and did the “fall servicing” since it was near enough and so only one service call. Hubby says it is an “intermittent electrical short”. And it did click in but they have to come anyway since it wouldn’t run overnight!

          • DeniseVB says:

I hate the “new” thermostats, we had more problems with the digitals than the old move the freaking bar higher or lower. I remember getting up one night to punch the digital thingy to fan because upstairs seemed stuffy to me. I hit heat instead. Good times 😛

          • 49erDweet says:

They created digitals because the old style thermostats weren’t generating enough service calls. I think.

          • Lulu says:

Welp. I had techs at the house almost all day yesterday. The system is circa 1989! I did not know it was this old. We may be a feature in Carrier company magazine of the oldest operating system (in Texas anyway) until it DIED! All to be replaced (the ductwork is fine) but the rest is due to be put in the Smithsonion as a relic or something. Everything goes. Now I have two rooms with portables taped into the windows. One is sitting on a patio table dragged in because the only usuable window is four feet up (bedroom has French doors that are not usuable) and a dining room window to squirt a little cool air towards the great room (more unusable French doors).

My poor house looks like a bomb went off in it. The window treatments are all yanked and tied up to accomodate the portable a/c’s. It is hideous. Everything was on end of summer sale (plus my demanded cash discount which I now have to find at the pawn shop-just kidding sort of) it only costs an arm and a leg and has to be shipped from Florida or something. One of our friends drove up yesterday, looked at all the trucks, then made a U-turn and left! We’re persona non grata. I’m quarantined in one room so I don’t get sick. What fun! I think I’ll watch movies. For a week!

          • lateblum says:

I am so sorry! I know how important good air is in the summer heat. I hope it isn’t a difficult week for you. Get some ice and a fan and don’t move any more than completely necessary. Sending cool hugs. 💕

Somebody Arrest James Woods, This Beatdown of Chuck Schumer Is Going to Leave a Mark

    • DeniseVB says:

BOOM ! Oh those sly Dems know exactly what they’re saying because they have a friendly media that ignores people like the very wise James Woods. Ignoring facts is media malpractice too. Don’t they get that?

      • lateblum says:

They don’t care. Unless someone goes looking for alternative sources of information, their audience is a captive one. Most people are lazy and won’t go outside their comfortable info source.

  5. votermom says:

    • DandyTIger says:

Nicely put. Very similar to the english common law concept of “outlaw”. You’re outside the law. That used to mean you’re not obliged to follow the law, but then again, no one is held to the law if they do something to an outlaw either. Two way thing.

      • DeniseVB says:

So then, not only do the Dems want to make our inner cities third world countries, but they want to drag us back to pre-Civil War AND the wild, wild west? Got it. 😉

      • Lulu says:

They were declared wolf’s head and coud be killed at any time. They were regarded as lower than wolves. It took Henry II to give them any rights (to trial or a regulated hanging death) at all.

    • DeniseVB says:

Tell me about it. I worked in an all women veterinary hospital for several years, the one male doctor the lady boss hired lasted a month. Meeee-ow wasn’t just for the kitties. I still get PTSD moments from that job. Otherwise, I loved it 😀

  6. Dora says:

Is that all? It feels like it has been here forever. 🙂

    • DandyTIger says:

Well, there were similar concepts via the internet for two decades before that. But the official web as we call it, was then.

      • DandyTIger says:

For example, you could do email, texting, sharing documents, “surfing” via other types of protocols to archives on connected servers from the early 70s at least.

        • elliesmom says:

The web opened the internet to non-geeks. Before that, there was no concept of “user-friendly” anywhere but Apple. I remember working on a project that would connect Apple products to the Unix workstations and PCs in our facility. I was the only engineer doing networking in the company who saw any value in having Macs able to communicate with the big kids’ toys. Then communication between the VP and his secretary got a lot easier, and I got a bonus. I shared a lot of info about to how to connect a local talk network to ethernet with the head of the primate part of the zoo in Brussels, and he’s still an online friend. We’ve come along way in making the internet more inclusive. I think some geeks wish we hadn’t. 🙂

        • Mt.Laurel says:

My first “email” account was through the CDC wonder system. It linked the federal/state/regional/locals together and you could send messages and upload/download files and access the public health and population data on the servers. There were large binder type manuals with all the codes and procedures. It was not used by many smaller jurisdictions as they did not have the computer hardware in place. A lot of the data was in Navy dif format. I can still see those fun little machines with green or amber text on CRTs and hear the distinct click of an IBM keyboard.

    • DeniseVB says:

Windows changed the internet for me, not quite sure for the better or worse. I signed on when AOL ruled the www. It was still dial-up, but did manage to get housework done while waiting for 45 minute downloads. Had to finally add a second phone line dedicated the beast that took over our dining room table with overhead wires to the kitchen phone. It was 1996.

Do you remember that scene in Sleepless in Seattle (1993) when reporter, Meg Ryan’s character, sent out a request to a friend to look up the Tom Hanks character personal info so she could go meet him? Her screen was just black and white, I forget what format that was called.

  7. Dora says:

    • DandyTIger says:

So funny. Wonder if they’ve realized that if they want to keep pushing the DNC email “hacking” issue, and this newer voter database hacking issue, that they’d actually have to allow discovery and allow outside experts access to their servers.

    • DandyTIger says:

Apparently Brazil is having a lot of trouble with it. Even to the point of chasing them out with machetes, saying you voted for socialism, now live with it. 🙂

      • DeniseVB says:

So true ! Media doesn’t report this either, thank goodness for Aftermath.

        • swanspirit says:

“The media” doesn’t report shit; literally in the cases of feces infested cities, that doesn’t fit their agenda. They have crossed so far over the line to propaganda, they can’t see the truth in their rear view mirrors. They are so far gone, that anyone who disagrees with them, or anyone reporting the truth, is now their enemy.

I just can’t picture it. When I hear tales of SF it strikes me as fiction. Kafka. People actually shit on the streets?

        • CalSteno says:

Yes it’s true but it’s a very old story. Don’t know if there’s still video from KRON TV story from several years ago; they actually had video taken a few blocks from city hall that showed people urinating, defecating, openly using drugs. One woman dropped her pants while they were filming — it was unbelievable to see this happening while normal people were walking on the sidewalks.

So yesterday I had one of those mornings that makes you feel good to be alive. I was walking to my therapist because I have first world problems. I am 51and don’t know what I want to be if I grow up. The kid is fiercely independent. Its time for me to rejoin the world. I am mostly debt free. I get a chance to actually do something I want to do. Paid a ton of money to take a battery of tests. Still have no clue. Anywho I am walking through Pittsburgh’s South Side and I meet two young Australian men. I love Ozzies. They are raised to travel and experience. Its a right of passage for them to backpack for a few years. So its 10 am I take them to a dive bar that opens at 6. When I did the Europe thing I spent all my time with ozzies and kiwis. I had so much fun. I did go to my shrink and try to find the meaning to life. Then I went back to the bar and had fun. I have had myself so knotted up in trying to achieve something. I forgot who I is.
Realise day drinking is not a career path but it is laughable to think I was considering going to a community college and becoming a paralegal just because I am old. I have no idea what I am going to do, but I gave 12 years to a little girl. That in and of itself is not normal. I am her great gay uncle. I have never craved stuff. My goals have never involved things. I have enough. I loved doing shots with construction workers and ozzies before lunch. I was so close to to taking paralegal classes. I would hate it. I am not normal so why pretend.

The Cohen ‘hush money’ is simply the latest cudgel with which Trump’s enemies hope to batter his presidency. But while that braying mob obsesses over obscure campaign finance regulations in the desperate hunt for something — anything — to ruin Trump, regular Americans don’t much care. The 63 million Americans who voted for him — and the 65 million who did not — are enjoying the benefits of a booming economy, thanks in large part to Trump’s tax cuts, deregulation, the unleashing of the energy sector and the withdrawal from or renegotiation of bad trade and other multilateral deals. Job creation, wage growth, historically low unemployment among blacks, Hispanics and young people, surging consumer confidence and 4 per cent plus GDP growth are the things voters truly care about — and vote upon. Trump’s payoff to Stormy Daniels earns a collective shrug — and not just because of vastly improved economic conditions.

This took place in Wilmette, IL. It is just across the street from the town where I live. It is a very safe little suburb and in many neighborhoods it is quite tony. Someone who says she’s only looking out for the child but really wants someone to pay for her own unhappiness. But I digress.

It also smells like strawberry and it is being handed out to kids in school yards. They are calling it strawberry meth or strawberry quick.Kids are ingesting this thinking that it is candy and being rushed off to the hospital in dire condition. It also comes in chocolate, peanut butter, cola, cherry, grape and orange. Please instruct your children not to accept candy from strangers and even not to accept candy that looks like this from a friend (who may have been given it and believed it is candy) and to take any that they may have to a teacher, principal, etc. immediately.Pass this email on to as many people as you can (even if they don’t have kids) so that we can raise awareness and hopefully prevent any tragedies from occurring..!!

Hillary-Cohen Lawyer Lanny Davis Is Handsomely Paid by Putin’s Friend

Clinton mob lawyer and spin doctor Lanny Davis was hired to represent Michael Cohen who once served as Trump’s personal attorney. Cohen recently accepted a deal of up to five years in prison on an eight-count indictment out of the Southern District of New York. Davis has a vested interest in destroying the Trump presidency as Clinton’s good friend and advisor.

His new client Michael Cohen agreed to turn on Donald Trump and implicate him in a campaign finance beef. This is probably going to tie into Mueller’s so-called Russia probe.
