WTF Friday Open Thread

The Secret Service should be on alert to watch out for a kitchen sink. The Democrats have thrown everything else at Trump this week. Remember the good old days when there was just one fauxrage per day? That was waaaaay back in 2015.

The good news they can’t have much left and Trump is still standing. And so is Kavanaugh. I’m thinking this was their big move. Now they have shot their wad.

Mueller doesn’t really want to indict Trump. Whether it’s a criminal case or an impeachment, the instant Trump is charged he is entitled to see the evidence against him and he gets a chance to confront witnesses. As long as the investigation is ongoing Mueller doesn’t have to produce any evidence or explain shit and Trump keeps twisting in the wind.

In personal news I got my driver’s license renewed on Tuesday. It expired on my birthday. In 2009. Getting it renewed was a real adventure. The only part of that day I want to share right now is the eye test. The DMV clerk said, “Cover one eye and read line five.”

Okay, that part didn’t really happen, but the first three letters were C-O-V.

When I feel up to it I’ll tell the whole story. At one point that day I was ready to curl up in the fetal position and stay there.

Anyhoo, this is an open thread.

Nice photo of lateblum’s and Cisco’s(?) mayor, the Nine Finger Midget, posing with a supporter throwing a Vice Lord gang sign.

    • lateblum says:

Yup. That’s Tiny Dancer. He’s Cisco’s mayor. I live just north of Chi-raq. I #ranaway nine blocks north of there. Straight into the Democrats’ stronghold on the north shore. But I worked there for 18 of the last 21 years and my dd#1 still has her condo there until it’s sold. She said she wouldn’t live there again.

      • SHV says:

Last time I was in Chicago was about five years ago. At that time it was still relatively safe on Magic Mile, Lake front, etc. Al, the wife, is running Chicago Marathon Oct. 7 so I guess I have a chance to ride the Red Line south and see the sights. :>)

        • lateblum says:

SHV…. that’s awesome! You should let me know where you all are staying. Dd#1is supposed to be coming back from Seattle to run in the marathon, too! We should all meet up. Even if it’s just at the Expo.

**I actually wrote this yesterday, but it disappeared!

      • DeniseVB says:

Cynic’s too ? She may be the burbs also, I remember your meet-up 🙂 Sweet.

        • lateblum says:

Cynic’s in a town south and west and an hour+ from Chicago. But close enough that we were able to meet up in another little town 2 train lines away from me. Cynic is awesome!

          Tiny Dancer – not.

    • Cisco says:

Rahm is one clueless sob, but evilly clever.
He doesn’t care about the gang affiliation, just as long as Mr. Gangbager votes Democrat.
I’m soooo proud of Tiny Dancer, and Dick The Turban Durban, emphasis on the Dick.
      What a e’ffen crew.
ps; showing the gangs colors on his shoes.

the DMV is the parking place for government employees they can not fire. Many have a chip on their shoulder thinking they should have gone higher

    • taw46 says:

Another great thing about KW. I walked in and was immediately waited on. The lady and I chatted about 10 min. Love KW.

    • 49erDweet says:

Err, no!!!!! Many DMV employees become tired of the hassle and being held up to public ridicule, though. DMV is also “raided” by other state agencies for management staff. Almost the reverse, Helen.

      • taw46 says:

The big cities I lived in – never enough DMV offices and never enough staff in the ones that did exist.

        • 49erDweet says:

Yeh. The staffing formulae for offices is a political process not unlike whack-a-mule. Sigh. OTT if you have a choice, always choose the smaller office. (More experienced staff).

    • Ann says:

The local DMV office used to be in a back building on one of the local community college buildings. No one knew about it. A long line was a person being waited on ahead of you.

Fast forward a few years and they moved that annex to a local mall (which is being closed and redeveloped to a mixed-use community, so they need to move again… hopefully to that old CC building!) There is seldom a line except when we go on Monday. Hubby has some fairly complicated business there, and someone always knows how to handle it.

In my little area of NYS the DMV jokes are outdated as the service is always quite good, and the staff very knowledgeable and polite.

    • Myiq2xu™ says:

After my experience on Tuesday, I have nothing but nice things to say about the DMV employees.

    • lateblum says:

Many years ago I was treated so badly at the DMV that I reported the supervisor to the Sec of State’s office and it must have been one too many complaints because he was either transferred or “retired”. He was not only abusive, to me,but to several others that I personally witnessed (and wrote about I the letter). I’d had my purse stolen in NYC and brought the police report, my birth certificate, utility bills and other info that I had been instructed to bring. I also brought my two little kids so they could see how things “worked”. The a$$hat who was the supervisor wanted to know why I hadn’t brought my passport. I said that I didn’t have one and that had I known the suburb of Deerfield was a foreign country, I’d have gone to the DMV in Chicago (where I did not reside).
Years later, the Deerfield office was moved to a different suburb – one not as “elite”. They were still nasty. I wrote/called to again report their lack of civility. Again, they closed this office and reopened somewhere else. Last winter I went to a large DMVin Chicago. They couldn’t have been busier or nicer. Sadly, they screwed up – twice. But they were at least decent about it.

  5. Somebody says:

So you have been DMD without a license?

    • helenk3 says:

no just to change my license and registration when I moved to California and then again when I moved to Florida. and when I was transferred from LA to Oakland when I lived in Ca,

    • Myiq2xu™ says:

I had a license the whole time. I still have it. It has my picture and everything. It was just expired.

  6. helenk3 says:

didn’t Trump do most of his campaign financing with his own money? So if he used some to pay off a hooker how is that a crime? we all have money earmarked for something and sometimes have to use if for something else.

    • taw46 says:

Quite a few on Twitter have said it is not a campaign violation to use your own money. Also, the allegation that they are making would not be a crime in the first place.

    • lyn says:

Democrats are lying through their asses about this being a campaign violation.

    • Constance says:

They are just tossing it out there because the Democrats think this will make women voters not vote for Republicans/Trump in the mid terms. Of course the Democrats don’t care if it is true or not. In the same brain dead way the Progressives believe that Hillary will become president (Pence? who the hell is he) if they can just impeach Trump Democrats think women voters are so stupid they will think the mid terms are about voting for husbands screwing porn stars or against husbands screwing porn stars.

I think its like the border kids. A play for the hearts of evangelicals.
It may be wrong but I would almost expect a guy that even before 2016 was a major player on the world stage to act on his most base desires. I cannot honestly say that if I faced no consequences for my actions i’d have a much more lurid history. I think most guys would.
He was a billionaire. His penchant for stunning women was well known.
I do not care if he boned a stripper. Not even a little bit.
If we are to be so puritanically offended that a rich guy paid hush money why isn’t cnn screaming for the names of congressional hush money.
I saw Kevin Spacey’s last movie made less than a 1,000 for a weekend. I tried to reflect upon what destroyed his career. He hit on a 14 year old. The 14 year old was at an adult party. He did not rape the child. I am not making excuses for him. He was apparently aggressive on sets. Rumors of him being gay have long been spread. He, an Academy award winner, never came out. I think the “gay mafia” threw him to the wolves. So many others were given a pass. Bryan Singer seemed for years to get a pass. I also think about Matt Lauer who pissed killary off. He somehow became this yuuuuge predator. Coincidence? I think all men are somewhat pigs. My question with regards to Lauer is why are there no civil or criminal actions? He just disappeared. I believe bed a 25 million dollar home on Long Island from which he commuted. Why is no one suing him. Spacey and Weinstein are facing criminal charges for years old sexual harassment. Everything about #MeToo struck me as manipulation. I am in no way saying that women don’t endure true travesties. I just question the timing and who is and WHO is not held accountable.
I have thought a lot about Zora Neale Hurston. She was a thinker and writer that went against The Harlem Renaissance. She was falsely accused of molesting several boys because she dared to not pull party line. They ruined her. She died in a welfare hotel. It was only because of Alice Walker that I know of Their Eyes were Watching God.
I was a black lesbian holocaust survivor in my college years. I read nothing but the literature of the opressed. I identified with oppression. I don’t as a man who wants nothing but the best for my kid. Nothing good ever comes of playing victim. Al Sharpton makes money. Dims maintain power. The people they manipulate stay in power. It is very sad.

        • Constance says:

I agree it is just another Democrat manipulation of potential voters. The people who voted for Trump have never been the type to fall for Democrat Manipulation and they aren’t going to suddenly get stupid. To regular people this looks like the Dems have weaponized government agencies to hound an elected President out of office and ruin his private businesses and they are now making the point that should anyone else outside their clique ever try to run in the future they will ruin those people too. If they succeed in running Trump out or even taking the house, then government of the people by the people and for the people is dead.

        • John Denney says:

Men and women are indeed different.

Stuck in the Denver airport a few years ago due to weather, I wandered into The News Stand and eventually noticed a magazine rack labeled, “Mens Interest”. The top shelf was all “skin mags” like Playboy, Penthouse, Maxim, etc.

So, I wondered if there were a magazine rack labeled, “Womens Interest”. Sure enough, there was. Every magazine on its top shelf contained some form of these two words: “bride” and “wedding”

Apparently women are looking for Mr. Right, while men are looking for Ms. Right-Now.

          • Constance says:

It’s important to keep in mind that media and advertising men are deciding what is “women’s content” and the content in “women’s media” is dictated by advertisers. If ever a new concept that is actually aimed at what women wants breaks out, it is immediately bought up and polluted with the same old shit that’s in the other women’s mags. In fact the one really good thing about “women’s media” is it concentrates a lot of really offensive advertising in one easily avoidable place.

          • mothy2017 says:

But how do shows like The View survive? I find that type of show sooooo insulting to women. Must draw some eyeballs or it would be off the air. Early on back with Meredith VieraI found it okay. Now I catch clips and I think they perpetuate an awful stereotype of women. I guess the media is now just a bullhorn for far left. ESPN knows its bleeding viewers and it doesn’t seem to care. I think its FOX that is giving Jim Carrey a show in the fall. He has not had a hit movie in years and has spent his recent time creating disturbing art about Trump. I was surprised by that awful comedian who did the Correspondents dinner having her show aborted. Netflix does not care about ratings. Her numbers along with Chelsea Handler must have been abysmal. Netflix has a budget unknown before. They now produce so much garbage. I spent a few days streaming Safe. Perhaps the most awful thing I have ever watched. I can do without netflix, but there are shows they market to young kids. We couldn’t afford TV when I was a kid I am a pushover when it comes to the brat. 13 Reasons Why was rated mature. Its tapes left by a young girl that commits suicide. It is marketed to tweens. I could say no to netflix. All the kids have it on their phones. I can’t stop her watching by a parental block. Those things screen out everything. She is 12. I wish Happy Days was an option. Nope I get Riverdale where a gay high school student cruises the park. Come on. It is marketed to tweens.

    • lateblum says:

It seems CBS is the only source for this type of info on Mollie Tibbetts’ killer. Or at least that is my experience. I have heard next to nothing about him or his legal status on the other alphabets.

    some random thoughts

perfect is overrated. If everything is perfect what is there to aspire to?
A perfect country leaves no incentive for it’s citizens

    There should always be goals
    to be a better person
to help the guy next to you get his better life.
to teach your kids how to be the best they can be
each person should have their own personal goal

    just my opinion

Spiro Agnew lawyer: Trump should resign to keep Mueller from prosecuting his family

Martin London, a lawyer who represented former Vice President Spiro Agnew, said that President Trump should resign from office to keep federal prosecutors from prosecuting his family.

“We already have everybody, you know — the rats are leaving the ship. He’s lost [Richard] Gates, [George] Papadopoulos, [Michael] Cohen, [Michael] Flynn, now [David] Pecker,” London said. “He’ll probably lose others from the Trump Organization.”

All the Talk About Impeaching the President Is Nonsense

The networks will need to find another way to excite their ratings.

First a preliminary word from someone whose published writings of the past two years demonstrate quite clearly why these past nineteen months under President Trump mark him already as one of America’s greatest Presidents in contradistinction to the nightmare of the prior eight years that saw one of America’s three or four worst-ever Presidents occupying the White House:
