Before There Was NeverTrump, There Was Palinpalooza

Has it really been ten years already?

Last night I ran across the article below at the NeverTrump mothership, aka NRO. I spent at least an hour talking (muttering) to myself afterward.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: The Progressive Sarah Palin

How numerous the parallels! Both arrived suddenly and unexpectedly on the national scene. Both caught the attention in part because of youth and attractiveness. Each became extremely famous overnight and started driving her political opponents nuts. Each comes from an area of the country that is seen as something of a punchline to political opponents. And each proved embarrassingly gaffe-prone in interviews, causing opponents to question her basic competence and knowledge while on her side of the aisle supporters continued vigorously to defend her.

Well, gee, let’s see.

1. They are both politicians.
?. They both have ladyparts.

That about does it for the similarities.

The fact is the two women have very little in common. For example, the media loves Ocasio-Cortez and despises Sarah Palin. And Sarah, despite her reputation for being gaffe-prone, gets her facts straight before she opens her mouth. Her enemies do not do the same. A perfect example is when Sarah told a Tea Party rally “Don’t party like it’s 1773 yet” Democrats in and out of the media jumped on it as proof of her historical illiteracy. “What an idiot! She doesn’t know that the American Revolution started in 1776” they crowed.

Yeah, well, except the Revolution started in 1775, at the Battle of Lexington and Concord. The Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776. So what happened in 1773?

The Boston Tea Party.

What bothered me about the article, though, was the casual way a Leftist lie was used by an alleged conservative magazine. The National Review was where NeverTrump was born. But way before NeverTrump was pushed out of the National Review’s vagina they were bashing Sarah Palin and the Tea Party.

With friends like them, who needs enemies? Fuck NeverTrump. They are snakes in the grass, waiting to bite us on the ass again.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this the first elected office AOC. I do believe she was a bartender and a community organizer prior to this. She also worked for a non-profit.

Sarah Palin by contrast was a sportscaster, city council member, two term mayor, oil and gas commission member and chair, Governor, VP candidate.

Their resumes are so similar, not.

As for NRO, fuck them. They will follow the weakly standard off the cliff. I hope the next cruise sponsored by Bill Kristol will be on the new titanic, how fitting. Hopefully all his never Trump buddies will go along and history will repeat itself.

  3. swanspirit says:

Not to mention, Sarah was the Governor of the largest state in the Union, after climbing the local political ladders, and had actual accomplishments, and results in her resume; not just having been a bartender. That article is pure garbage.

Mind blowing, what is being told by agents, pastors, govt officials from TX and CA. So much worse than we ever could imagine. And PDJT lectured the media, how they lie and withhold information from the American people about the crisis at the border.

I have always liked and admired Sarah Palin. She is the only reason I voted for McCain and not a third party. She is smarter than the average bear and McCain could not stand that. His ego enjoyed when she got attacked. it took the heat away from him. Mc Cain caved to backtrack and always has been a loud mouthed weak link. Loved war as long as it was not him who had to serve. His military career was a real problem that got covered up by daddy. Ask the guys who were in the prison camp with songbird. They did not like him very much.

What was done to her for daring to run for vice president was a wake up call for me. I have been disgusted by the dems ever since. Every time they claim that they are the party for women I want to throw up. As for the females in the dem party they have become useful whores and are not in any way shape or form good for women. Name one time the dems have ever done anything useful for women. Abortion, how is that good for women, some of those babies are female, men no longer have to take any responsibility when a child is created. the women got screwed in more than one way and men got a good time and no responsibility. Equal pay for women, not on their watch.
She and her husband and kids have had their share of troubles that the press takes great delight in reporting. The Palins handled them. I do not know any family that is perfect.

Sarah is who really caused the crazy to come out of people I had known for years. And it seemed even worse among women. This was the start of larges numbers of people simultaneously slipping completely out of reality. And most of it was centered around perfectly normal things for a woman her age and very little to do with her actual skills or accomplishments. All of a sudden rather mundane things became crimes against the society of justice warriors.

Sarah did not go to any of the approved [ivy league or sister] schools. Sarah took more than four year to get a college degree. Sarah went to more than one school. Sarah changed her major. Sarah worked while in school and took time off between semesters to work even more. Sarah cut her hair. Sarah should cut her hair short. Sarah should not wear heels. Sarah looks unrefined in sneakers. Sarah wears too much makeup. Sarah wears too little makeup. Sarah Sarah Sarah….

I’m not in favor of President Trump using his emergency powers to open government for at least another month because I think the Leftists need to squirm about their little manufactured crisis and their obvious refusal to negotiate. But all this BS about not using the emergency powers because then a Leftist might use them to divert billions to a Green emergency in the future is BS. Just because Trump doesn’t used the Emergency Powers doesn’t guarantee that Leftists won’t be using them in the future. He should eventually use them, in the meantime he should let them sweat. It was Congress’s job to pass a budget, he told them last year when he signed their BS budget that it wouldn’t happen again. They are used to not working for the People and I don’t think they have a clue how to solve this crisis. Congress and especially Leftists have no skills.

    • Cisco says:

“he told them last year when he signed their BS budget that it wouldn’t happen again.”
      I remember that distinctly.
Dem’s must not have taken Trump seriously or not paying attention.

    • taw46 says:

I read an article that Emergency Powers has been used 55 times, I think since Clinton. 30+ are still in effect. Obama had 15, only 2 have been rescinded. I’ll try to find the article. MSM as usual is misleading the public about Emergency Powers.

I am for him using the power to pay the essential workers that are working for no pay. I’m not exactly sure the procedure, but I know there is one that allows the executive branch to shift money around to fund essential setvices.

  14. Constance says:

Also the Fund the Wall Go fund me is up over 20 million. They just decided they can’t trust the government with the money and so they are setting up a board and getting the engineers going on design and permits. They plan to work with any land owners who are willing to have them. They think they can build sections of wall for half of what the government would spend. If you want your donation to go to this new plan you return an email giving your permission otherwise they will return your donation to you. I LOVE IT. I don’t care if some think I am wasting my money I consider it entertainment spending. Brian’s update is posted on his site.

Well the world is ending. again. Not only have they set up food banks and health clinics for federal workers before they even miss a single pay check (next week), S-N-O-W is coming to swampland. I am not sure we will survive. I really wish it would be a blizzard because then they would have to truly choose between whining about PT versus S-N-O-W. One of the favorite pastimes of the local MSM is turning a 3- 6 inch snow fall into a multi day extravaganza. However, we have the added bonus that they not only will cover S-N-O-W as if it is the end of times they will manage to turn said meteorological event into a political statement that will someone be PTs fault.

And how, come Monday, will we know whether or not to go to work if Federal OPM is not here to tell us 2 hr delay, telecommute, liberal leave, essential employees only [oops!], or just run for the ski slopes.

By the way, I have always know federal workers who actually work. I know many more who – shall we say – have very lax work rules. Those that do work have to contend with those that do not really even do enough to qualify as getting by. But even not watching TV or listening I am not getting multiple email alerts and push notices about the poor helpless federal workers almost hourly.

Note: of course they managed to get a bill through making sure federal employees will get their back pay. Now they are mad Orange Man Bad said he would sign the bill for back pay.

      • Mt.Laurel says:

It is just crazy. I mean even if there were not a shut down these people still would not be due their next pay check until next week. So are they saying they live way beyond their means but now it might bit them in the butt more than they would like because the next pay may be delayed a bit?

No under Barry they all were happy to be furloughed to show those horrid Rs they were in charge. Very very very different tune from everyone.

Prior to Barry it was just taken as one of the downsides of certain federal jobs. You had to plan for at least the possibility each year.

      Now veggies couldn’t be grown.
Farmers, transporters. food stores, etc. suffered along w/ the consumer.
So, we save some bugs, beautiful as they are, and insure their survival at the cost of human life?

      • swanspirit says:

Your memory is correct, and I think that environmentalists could design work around solutions for any creatures whose habitat would be affected. Butterflies, it seems to me, could fly between the slats, or even over the wall. So could small birds, and cats, go between the slats.

        https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/brad-wilmouth/2009/03/31/abc-judge-cuts-water-california-farmers-save-endangered-fish

      • Myiq2xu™ says:

Most people are unaware of the unholy alliance between radical environmentalists and . . . shall we say, “Monied Interests.” If you make a big donation to the Sierra Club they will happily lead the fight to stop your competition from building a new regional distribution center nearby. Or let’s say that the state is deciding between Fresno and Merced for the new UC they’re building. You stand to make a lot of money if they choose Fresno because you own a nice chunk of the land that will double in value if they do. The state picks Merced. So you slip the SC a bag full of Benjamins and they file suit to enjoin them from building in Merced because of the Fairy Shrimp.

Ultimately the lawsuit fails, but in the intervening 5 years you were able to unload the land to other people who think it will double in value soon.

      • taw46 says:

They used the same argument to try and stop the Alaska pipeline. The wildlife is thriving there, animals adapt. I have read a lot of articles on this issue. You will see words like “may” “could”. They have no facts to support many of their claims, just what they feel. Also buried in these articles, is the fact that a lot of the habitat has already been bulldozed for agriculture and homes. So, not the wall.

I lived out West, and it is beautiful, wide open spaces. I also love wildlife and want us to do what we can to protect them. But there are millions of acres of land in these sanctuaries and only a small percentage of people visit them. Heck, you can’t even do that in Arizona anymore. Remember the stories about signs warning people visiting state/national parks in southern Arizona, visit at your own risk (due to human trafficking/drug cartels coming across the border)? So now it is too dangerous to even visit these sanctuaries. Have you seen photos of how this daily, illegal stream of traffic is already destroying these sanctuaries with trash? Human life matters more to me.

    • Anthony says:

Last I heard, butterflies can fly through steel slats and over wslls with one eye closed. Drunk.

      • DeniseVB says:

We have a couple of purple martin houses, they eat butterflies. Savages. 😛 The end of the summer, dh will raise some of the caterpillars that turn into monarchs and releases them for the great Mexican migration. We often wonder how the hell they even make it out of our state? Migrating birds have to eat too. Our purple martins migrate to South America after nesting season. Nature is so crazy like that, but the species continue to survive.

        • Anthony says:

I never knew about the monarch migration until I was volunteering at ground zero. One morning, there was a swarm of them traveling south. They hovered over the site above our heads for a minute or two, and then continued on. It was a real shot in the arm to inspire us to just keep working.

        • elliesmom says:

If we don’t interfere, nature has it under control. While birds consume a lot of insects, nature creates a lot more insects than birds. The larger the predator, the fewer of them there are. When we introduce into or remove a species from a food chain, it can take awhile for the balance to reset itself, but eventually it does. Take away a species natural predator, and the species will reproduce itself into starvation if another predator doesn’t come along to make it its lunch.
