News Media: Reality Is What We Say It Is

One of the strangest developments in the Age of Trump is the news media’s abandonment of reality-based reporting. They have gone from journalism to fabulism. They aren’t fudging facts and spinning the news, they’re just making shit up.

Illegal immigration has been a chronic problem for decades. It was a problem when Ronald Reagan was President. It was a problem when George H.W. Bush was President. It was a problem when Bill Clinton was President. It was a problem when George W. Bush was President. It was a problem when Bronco Bama was President.

Now that Donald Trump is President, the media says, “Problem? What problem?”

Jim Acosta’s first tweet posted up above was self-debunking. “I’m standing behind a wall and there is no illegal immigration problem here. Walls obviously don’t work.”

Debunking the second one requires a little local knowledge. The place where Acosta is standing is at a bend in the river and the Border Patrol uses it for observation because it gives a clear view in both directions. There is also a boat ramp there that the BP uses to launch their boats. The Mexican side of the river is fairly open with few places to hide. Last but not least, it is close to the BP’s local office. Needless to say, the Border Patrol has agents there on a frequent basis.

Unsurprisingly, the coyotes take their pollos somewhere else to cross into the United States.

The last tweet reminds me of a sulky teenager.

Parent: “Clean your room. It’s a mess.”
Teen: “No it’s not.”
Parent: “Yes it is.”
Teen: “Nuh uh.”
Parent: “Uh huh.”
Teen: “Nuh uh.”

The news media wants us to believe them and not our lying eyes and ears. This raises a key question: Are they delusional idiots or just shameless liars?

I’m going with shameless idiots.

    this is not a surprise.

just wondering, do you think the dems oppose the wall because they are stilling running guns into Mexico for the cartels and getting a cut of the drug and sex trafficing money?

One of the reasons I became “not a feminist” is how subjective some people are about what’s acceptable and what’s not. A long time ago I was in a small room meeting with Pat Schroeder when she was considering a run for the presidency. She said a true feminist is someone who has a strong sense of what is right and what is wrong in regards to the treatment of women. There can be no moral relativism or cultural differences involved. She said it was unfortunate the Democrats as a party didn’t support her in that. She anticipated it would be a problem for her going forward. We didn’t get a chance to find out.

      • Myiq2xu™ says:

It boggles the mind that feminists would support massive immigration from countries where sexism and misogyny reduce women to the status of sex slaves.

      • helenk3 says:

my idea of a feminist is nothing like what today’s so called feminists preach. my idea of a feminists earns and demands respect. they are not some guy’s wet dream of an easy lay with no responsibility. They stand up for women who are treated badly. I will never understand the silence on the islamic treatment of women and children.
They use the brain God gave them and do not become useful idiots.
I do not know what to call today’s so called feminists but it is not feminist.

        • DeniseVB says:

My ideal feminist is Sarah Palin. She had it all. Women were created to do the things men can’t do.

          • helenk3 says:

            yes she is

          • John Denney says:

She’s fit, intelligent, practical, multi-talented, confident, but not arrogant, good sense of humor, good shooter, not afraid to get her hands dirty, and loves people. She embraces a rugged lifestyle and appears to handle it easily.

The “feminists” should take lessons from Sarah Palin.

          • Constance says:

I like Sarah as the ultimate feminist too.

Sadly, my local paper has resorted to the Acosta side of the news. “We don’t need no stinkin’ Wall” because it won’t solve the problems, illegals will find another way, (Debbie Downer music, waaah-wah). Also in my paper today, meet the border landowners who will FIGHT the Wall. Fine, we’ll mark you on the Google Map for the Cartels and Coyotes as an EZ-Pass participant.

This twitter thread has graphics and more to back up Acosta’s idiocy and myiq’s wisdom….

Not only is TSA going to get their back pay, but a $500 bonus for working through the holidays w/o “pay”. According to my source at DIA, the airlines are taking turns feeding them lunch every day. Passengers already pay for the security fees with their tickets, where’s that money going? I do think TSA is ripe for privatization. As it was before 9-11.

          • Somebody says:

All the various airline fees go to the federal aviation administration, as far as I know. In fact, I believe with the exception of modernization the FAA is basically self funded via the fees. That’s why there has been talk of privatizing or quasi-privatizing air traffic control. One of the sticky wickets though is the supposed trust fund that is supposed to fund airport improvements and modernization of the ATC system. It is a pile of IOU’s, like so many other funds Congress couldn’t keep their hands out of it.

Here is an oddity, the FAA has money coming in from fees……..but decades ago they contracted out their payroll to the department of housing and urban development. That move enabled them to cut all the positions that tracked time and annual leave, handled payroll, etc. Why HUD, I have no idea…..but that is why the controllers that are staying on the job aren’t getting paid. Well maybe not the entire reason, if the payroll people were still in house they’d probably be furloughed.

      Re-reading AOC’s increadably stupid comment, I wondered.
      “Harassment”?
The e’ffen nerve to use that word.
Like Sarah Sanders needing a SecSer bodyguard because she has been truly harassed.
Or the other Republicans that can’t even enjoy a dinner out because some f’k head will rant and rave at them.
And let’s not forget that supreme a-hole that tweeted ” he has gun(s) and will shoot up any restaurant that serves anyone in the Trump administration or his supporters?
This is truly one clueless f’k, but less than those that voted her into office.

      • taw46 says:

Not to mention the harassment the President endures 24/7 since the day he won the election (before even). Typical socialists/Marxists. We get to say whatever lies we want, but you have to SHUT UP. And yes, her constituents are stupid too, but I read only a small percentage of them even bothered to vote.

    • DeniseVB says:

Oh the memory of typing those fake b.s. letters to constituents in 1965. Form letters, pre-printed on all kinds of topics. I was at the bottom of the food chain in that office, so my job was typing in constituent’s address and the salutation, then addressing the envelope. I think this was before signature machines, but I remember another staffer would “freshly and accurately” sign the congressman’s name. When she finished, returned the pile to me to fold and insert into the envelope. I think I made $350/mo, which was a sh*t ton of money for an 18 year old in those days.

Last year the CPD suffered, and for those of us that wore our blue & Stars, it is a suffering of pain.
2018 had 4 Officers killed in the line of duty and more sadly, if that’s possible, and 4 by sucide, 2 in the same 5th Police District.
Last night an off-duty Illinois State Trooper stopped to assist in a on-view traffic accident.
He was fatally struck by a passing vehicle.
A off duty Nurse, remember, off duty, as if there is such a thing, stopped and gave CPR, to no avail.

“No sooner had the Democrats taken back the majority in the House of Representatives than they proved their harshest critics correct – the party no longer concerns itself with the interests of the American people.  And by refusing to provide a dime for a physical barrier on our border, they did it in the starkest terms possible.
Led by far-left Nancy Pelosi, who held off a challenge to her leadership from the even farther left, the House Democrats promptly put themselves in the position of being seen taking the side of foreigners entering the country illegally over the security and economic prosperity of American citizens.  They reduced themselves to the absurd position that “walls don’t work.”

    • DeniseVB says:

We’re just getting heavy rain, thank goodness because it would translate to about 10 inches of snow by now. Dark gloomy day, I love it, probably won’t get out of my sweats or put a bra on 😛

        or put a bra on

Studies show that straight men’s IQ drops several points when they see boobs. Even something as simple as overhearing the words “or put a bra on” can discombobulate a man and derail his train of thought.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to figure out what I was doing before I got distracted.

        • DeniseVB says:

      • Somebody says:

It’s been snowing since yesterday where hubby is, he sent pictures. He has no snow blower, hell he doesn’t even have appropriate attire for snow. He does however have chains for his tires. We have a liquidation place here that sells off excess inventory dirt cheap from Walmart, Home Depot and Lowes. Somehow one of the distribution centers in Florida got a bunch of tire chains, so they sent them to this liquidation place. They weren’t moving (go figure) so they marked them down 75% off the discounted price. Hubby got chains for $7 a set, $14 for all 4 tires. They’re the kind you drive on to and they are self adjusting.

He doesn’t know how well they clear the roads up there, so he may get a chance to try out the chains tomorrow morning……..of course he’s going to have to figure out a way to dig out his truck first, LOL! Perhaps he should have purchased a snow shovel or something.

        • Ann says:

Chains on his tires for a NJ Highway? He may want to ask the people who live there about that.

He also may want to head out for a warm jacket, boots, gloves, and hat before the spring clothing hits the stores in another week or two. Clearance should be starting. If he hunts, have him head over to Cabelas or Gander World and get a layered hunting jacket with a zip-out lining. That way, he will be able to use in sans-liner in the future. I’m not sure where he is exactly in New Jersey, but you can pretty much throw a rock and hit some sort of shopping.

He should also hit the local hardware store for a shovel, although rock salt may be in short supply now (that is something people stock up on in November or December). The good news is Jersey winters are not awful (neither are NYC in spite of their whining). It will be March before he knows it!

          • Mothy67 says:

Amen about the rock salt. I picked up a ton of stuff at Sam’s months ago when they put
it out. Wait until a storm and you are SOL.

          • Somebody says:

I got him a jacket with a zip out lining for Christmas, waterproof. I also got him gloves and a hat. The gloves he says are better than nothing, but apparently they’re FL gloves. I ordered the jacket online it’s Columbia and made for snow supposedly.

I got him a beanie hat at a store here. Some jackass stole it his first day at work, he was pissed, really pissed. It said “Salt Life” on it, which is a thing here so I suppose that is why someone helped themselves to it.

His legs are cold, he needs thermals. My daughter gave him wool socks and an ice scraper with his Christmas. He loves his wool socks. I couldn’t find any here, so DD got some in NC.

I will mention checking about chains and also the rock salt. He was told to spray Pam cooking spray for de_icing his door, true or not true?

    • Mothy67 says:

And we are not stupid enough to open the government and then try to negotiate with you dipshits. DO IT NOW CONGRESS. And what are the Republicans waiting for. Write a bill that gives 6 billion for The Wall and 2 billion for more judges and holding facilities and permanent legal status but not citizenship to DACA people who have no criminal record. There is no need to negotiate with the Dems for this just do it.
