Operation “Target Tucker” Isn’t Really About Tucker

If you haven’t been paying attention you might think that our Leftist friends are genuinely upset about something Tucker Carlson said. But if you have been paying attention you know that there is no spoon Tucker.

It’s all about the base.

Because you know I’m all about that base
‘Bout that base, no Tucker
I’m all about that base
‘Bout that base, no Tucker
I’m all about that base
‘Bout that base, no Tucker
I’m all about that base
‘Bout that base…

No, seriously.

Don’t believe everything you read. Take this, for instance:

Obama Alums Helping Organize Anti-Tucker Carlson Protest at FNC

Following closely on its report that Tucker Carlson used profane language during interviews on a shock-jock radio show more than 10 years ago, Media Matters is scheduling organized protests outside the Fox News building in New York City.

The protests are planned for Wednesday, and they’re receiving support from prominent alumni of the Obama Administration.

Media Matters is timing the protest to coincide with a meeting Fox News execs have scheduled with advertisers. CNN, which has mentioned the Tucker Carlson comments 82 times since Sunday, explains the strategy:

Fox has a financial motivation for adjusting the way it is perceived in the advertising marketplace. All three of its prime time talk shows, which is largely driven by opinion and punditry, have been targeted by liberal ad boycott efforts in the past year. Carlson and fellow conservative commentators Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham have all spoken out against the efforts.

So Fox is touting its newscasts instead, reminding advertisers that it has plenty of other spots to place ads. “Shepard Smith Reporting” and “Special Report” are Fox News’ daytime and evening news programs, respectively. …

Wednesday’s event at Fox HQ is also part of the campaign. Media Matters evidently wants attendees to walk by a sea of protesters. So it is organizing Wednesday’s protest and partnering with other progressive groups to get the word out.

On the podcast Pod Save America, Obama vets Tommy Vietor, Jon Lovett, and Jon Favreau, used their show to encourage people to join the protest.

“They’re having a protest outside of Fox News headquarters on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in New York because Fox is having on an emergency meeting with their advertisers,” Tommy Vietor said. “So if you want to send a message, and you want people to actually care there, let the advertisers know because that’s the only reason the Bill O’Reillys and the other people actually get punished.”

“It’s the only thing that’s worked,” chimed in his co-host, Jon Lovett.

“Tucker Carlson is their most popular host in their most popular timeslot,” added Obama’s former chief speechwriter, Jon Favreau. “That is — that is Fox News.”

While CNN and other major networks have derided the Trump Administration for being hostile to the free press, attempting to bankrupt media outlets remains a strategy popular only among progressives. We can only presume the former president agrees with this approach, as he called Fox News “harmful to the country.”

Does anyone honestly believe that the Left cares about profane language? The Left does not give as fuck about profanity. They don’t give a fuck about Tucker Carlson. They don’t give a fuck about Fox News either.

Their true motive is hidden in plain sight right there in the headline. The word is “organize.”

Both parties despise their respective bases almost as much as they hate the other side’s base. The difference is that the Democrats pretend to like their base. They pander to them, and actively recruit them. The Republicans sneer at their base, lecture and belittle them, and occasionally try to drive them away. (It’s a miracle the GOP wins any elections.)

Odd years in our country are non-election years. Democrats spend this time building and organizing. (Republicans spend it bitching about their base.) Democrats understand that political identity is often tied to social identity. The Democrats want to get you involved somewhere. Think of the Democrat party as a huge building with thousands of doors. They don’t care which door you use, as long as you use one. They all lead to the same place.

Once they get you in a door they start trying to get you involved. They want you to sign a petition, send an email, make a phone call. It’s like a cult – one minute you’re buying a flower from some hippie chick at the airport and the next thing you know you’ve shaved your head, you’re wearing a yellow robe and you’re chanting and dancing to the music of a drum circle at a commune in Montana.

The Democrats want you to make social activism part of your identity. They will always provide you with opportunities to participate.

And that’s what it is all about.

BOYCOTT TUCKER CARLSON!

I remember Jay telling Jimmy Fallon, you’ll do well if your monologues come from your heart because hate is not funny. I think Jimmy jumped that shark after the Trump election, about the same time Jimmy went into rehab, oh yeah, there’s a fine line between that zillion dollar paycheck and getting fired.

CNN doesn’t make its money from advertising. It is their cable/satellite deal that brings in the moolah.

I’ve only read parts of the stories about these bribes for college admissions on athletic abilities. So, what happened when all these students arrived at the colleges and couldn’t play the sports? Why did this go on for so long?

      • DeniseVB says:

I’m not even sure why it’s news. Our betters have always paid to play, especially for their kids. Elite college teams have always had to fill their 100k seat stadiums to make money, and you don’t do that with losing teams. This is all so weird.

      • lateblum says:

Just saw on the news that Lori Whatshername was released today on a bond of $1M.

      • Mothy67 says:

What i gathered was that the “sports” got them in without scholarships and they weren’t obligated to play which casts a bit of doubt on the schools being unaware. Supposedly there were 800 students and a handful of schools since 2011. How did no admin not notice the same coaches going to bat for marginal student s repeatedly?
What effect will this have on USC (which seems to be the top choice so far). I’d be pissed if i was a student, parent, alumnus. They were/are paying for the name.
Think the 50 are just the tip of the iceberg.

        • taw46 says:

Thanks for the explanation. I’m with you, hard to believe Admin didn’t see what was going on with those students/coaches.

4 boneless pork loin, thick cut chops, about 2lbs.

Spinkle a pack of Ranch dressing over them.

Glob spread ONE can of cream of chicken and ONE can of cream of mushroom soup over the chops. I added about a quarter of ONE can of water to get the can wall gloop out of each and to wash the ranch dressing powder residue off the wall of the crockpot.

Set to low, about 6-8 hours, OMG ! Tres yummo.

Third Circuit Becomes First Federal Circuit To ‘Flip’ Control Under Trump

Yesterday, the U.S. Senate confirmed, by a 54-45 vote, Paul Matey to be a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. The Third Circuit has federal appellate jurisdiction for the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. With the confirmation of Matey, the Third Circuit becomes the first of the 13 federal appellate circuits to “flip” control under President Donald Trump from majority Democratic nominees to majority Republican nominees.

Im watching the weather channel right now. (Yes. I’m kind of a nerd.) and they are reporting from Rapid City, SD. The wind is 65+++, the snow is horizontal and turning to ice as it blows, the roads are ice, the guy reporting can NOT stand up. He had to crawl on the ground to get to his car. How horrid. Roads – major highways – are shut down and police are unable to respond to emergencies because driving is impossible. . In cattle country in Nebraska, there is nothing that can be done for humans or the animals that are outsde. It is scary in the central plains states tonight.

They shut down the Denver airport and cancelled all the flights. Son had to spend the night to babysit stranded passengers who couldn’t get out. Blizzards with Cat 1 hurricane force winds are very dangerous, he’s glad he didn’t have to try to get home anyhow, you couldn’t see beyond the hood of a car even if you could see through the windshield since wipers are pretty useless when you’re being snow blasted like that.

        • DeniseVB says:

You can’t compare the two, other than the author’s obvious man crush, Beto married his millions and lost a biggy Senate seat to a popular Ted Cruz. Edwards, “son of a mill worker” worked his way through college and law school and became a self-made millionaire, then ran for office beating a popular Senate incumbent. I saw great potential in him. Beto’s just another empty suit.

          • Mothy67 says:

Edwards was also empirically an attractive man, beto not so much.

So did I, taw. He was in Milwaukee and I drove up there, parked the car only 4 blocks away and waited hours. But after the rally he hung around with Elizabeth and the little ones to meet people. He was so accessible. And seemed like a genuinely good man. I was “in love” with the entire family.

OTOH, only weeks earlier, I met Howard Dean at a party, and the instant he determined that I might volunteer to work, but had no money to contribute, he turned away to look for someone who did. I’m surprised he didn’t get whiplash. lol

          • DeniseVB says:

Too bad about him, he would have been a better President than Obama. As Jay Leno asked him in 2008, what are you thinking running as a rich, white guy? I honestly think if he were on the top of 2004 Dem ticket he would have beat GWB. He was drawing more at his rallies than Kerry. As Sarah did McCain. So they hid them from the campaign trail, then blamed them for their losses. Swamp tactics, eh?

          • taw46 says:

Leslie, he visited our small town near the Space Center, so not a huge crowd of people. I positioned myself on the rope line and luckily he exited that way. You are right, he was so likable and friendly. We talked about the Carolinas, since we were both from there. It was like talking to an old friend. Shame how that turned out, he seemed to have had it all.

What a nice memory. And good story to boot! 💕
