I’m feeling better, but after weighing myself this morning I wouldn’t mind being sick for a few more days. “Lose weight while you sleep”

Yesterday my garage door spring broke, very nearly pinning me like a rat in a trap. (Those doors are heavy and come down hard.) But my BIL came by and we used testosterone to open the door manually so I could get the car out. Mom made it to her AARP luncheon.

I’ll have to park outside until the door is fixed.

      Holy cow
Is someone trying to assassinate you?

    • DeniseVB says:

Glad you’re feeling better. I hear because of the super rains you guys got this season that everything is super blooming now ! Allergies aren’t only about runny noses and sneezes. Also, power lifting garage doors is a good sign of your recovery too 🙂

the NHK.feature said that super slow squats increase the amount of mitochondria in the thigh muscles, and after 3 months (hospital study) the diabetes patients blood sugar leverls wete a lot more level. (No more spiking after meals)

Klown, this is ab NHK feature about super slow squats and diabetes

My DIL is a trainer and gave me a “squats” routine to grow my butt (yes, I have a flat ass). Tried them, all I can remember is the weeks of pain pulling my hamstrings and sciatica. Oh the price of of being “hot”. Butt, when I see squats, I cringe 😉

    Play Ball 😀

    • lateblum says:

This was my dad’s favorite day of the year. It is dd#2 favorite day. She is so happy to be a Cubs fan. She always has been and is the only Cubs fan in the current lateblum family.
      Play Ball indeed. ⚾️⚾️⚾️

      • DeniseVB says:

My birthright team is the Brooklyn Dodgers, but they abandoned me as a child. I still love baseball, just not with the same passion I had then. 😉

      • elliesmom says:

When we moved to Chicago for a couple of years, friends always wanted to take me to a White Sox game wearing my Red Sox shirt, but I had seen the White Sox play ball many times in Boston. I wanted to go to see the Cubs play at Wrigley Field. I got there. 🙂

        • lateblum says:

I grew up NOT in Chicago. But my father was a Chicago native and he was a die hard White Sox fan. So, I/we all (except dd#2) became WS fans. Dad died in 2004, the year before the Sox won it all. The following year, we, all of us, celebrated his life at one of the highlighted games of the next (2005) season. In fact, my bil caught a foul ball hit into the stands that day. It was his first WS game ever. We all knew that day, the season would be memorable. We all figured dad was up there moving the team – his team – toward the finish line. I think we were right. It was a glorious opening day to a glorious year.

I happened to see the opening of the House Intel Committee this morning, when the Republican read that letter requesting Schiff’s resignation. Then Schiff came back with all the ways Trump “colluded”, but wouldn’t let anyone respond. He will never let go of Russia.

I still ❤ Neil Diamond so much. I remember that appearance, from after the Boston Bombing, however, I still can't get over Caroline Kennedy was his inspiration for that song. She was about 12 at the time. Just euwww Neil.

      • elliesmom says:

“For years the lore has been that Neil Diamond’s 1969 song “Sweet Caroline” was an ode to the then young daughter of late president John F. Kennedy and his wife, Jacqueline.
On Monday, the singer revealed the truth behind the hit.
“I was writing a song in Memphis, Tennessee, for a session. I needed a three-syllable name,” Diamond said during an appearance on “Today.” “The song was about my wife at the time — her name was Marsha — and I couldn’t get a ‘Marsha’ rhyme.”

        • DeniseVB says:

Thanks. Been a Neil Fangirl since the 60’s. I still have a concert shirt that’s way too small now, but I won’t throw it away…..it brings me joy 😉

I didn’t see Tyler Perry’s name on that list, he owns a massive studio complex in Georgia.

      • elliesmom says:

Is anyone on the list even likely to get an offer to work in GA?

        • DeniseVB says:

LOL, nope. GA and NC have had film studios for decades. Most on the list are either so filthy rich to worry about a job in GA or pissed they never had an offer to work at a studio based location outside of Hollywood.

    • Mt.Laurel says:

I have no clue who most of those people. That means I have never seen/heard of them them or they have not come across as talented or even slightly interesting/quirky that I would look them up to see what other work they have done. Yet I can name/recognize at least 90% of the bit part actors in old movies and old shows like Perry Mason and have fun with Brit shows figuring out where I have seen people before.

      • DeniseVB says:

It’s a list of the same slobbering idiots who suffer TDS since the day he declared. They also signed a petition to boycott GA when Stacey Abrams lost to a , gasp, Republican. LOL, Alyssa seems to be their cult leader.

    • Anthony says:

A lot of lawsuits from slandered innocent people will most likely start rolling out soon. Covington Catholic started that ball rolling, and its gaining momentum.

      • lateblum says:

I hope that’s true. These poeple have caused irreparable damage not only to the people they actually slandered/libeled but to people like you and like me who’ve had family and friend relationshps nearly destroyed due to their hateful and careless accusations.

    • DeniseVB says:

AOC has a 2020 GOP challenger in NY14, the bad news, she’s a boring, though lovely and accomplished, old (only 61, but hey) white woman. With hopes that district gets tired of Communist Barbie by then.

      • elliesmom says:

I think her real challenge is going to come in Dem primary. I think Nancy’s going to orchestrate a primary loss for AOC. Probably having the “Make Alexandria Go Away” hats printed up already.

Thank God it was locked because it was fully charged. I left it at McD’s on the counter (pinot grigio). Battery had 1%. Manager told me I’d have to come back later when she had time to look. Young kid said It’s in the office. I gave it to you. Bitch. I have the 10 inch it’s only 150.

        • mothy67 says:

I love the large kindle. It is so much cheaper than the ipad. I am out a lot and use my phone as a hotspot. As long as I don’t stream a movie It’s just as fast as my home network
When 5G becomes available will anyone keep cable. My mom resigned with verizon because she loves HGTV and has had the same phone number for 50 years. I bought her a cell with unlimited everything. I could not port her number. I could have put my name on the bill and ported it that way.

Blago’s mistake was thinking that because the Illinois constitution gave him the power to name Obama’s replacement that the seat was his to sell. Silly rabbit. It was Obama’s seat to sell.

I just heard from an online sewing buddy from Oklahoma. She has 4 kids under 12 who she homeschools. Her husband is undergoing treatment for advanced colon cancer. He’s immune system is non-existent. She’s an anti-vaxxer. While there’s a measles outbreak right now, she says what’s going on in the governmen is proof she’s right. Danger from measles is just a lot of hype. The danger from the Russia hoax isn’t limited to people not trusting the FBI and the DOJ.

    • lyn says:

      That’s sad and scary.

      • swanspirit says:

Complications from measles are more common among adults. Approximately 20 percent of those with measles experience one or more complications including diarrhea, ear infections, pneumonia, encephalitis, seizures, and death.
        Measles – Adult Vaccination. adultvaccination.org
I have personally taken care of a 13 year old child suffering from complications of measles. She was terminally ill, with encephalitis.
I could strangle anti-vaxxers with my bare hands.

  19. John Denney says:

Someone (Jadzia?) recently (within the last month?) was describing how bad it is in France for women, that they’re being harassed, insulted, and intimidated by “immigrant” men.

Anybody else remember that? Link? Search engines aren’t finding it.

    • DeniseVB says:

I really don’t remember Jadzia feeling any personal danger in France, she always seemed to be aware of her environment, and she’s a Mama Bear, wouldn’t put her kids in harm’s way.

    • Jadzia says:

I don’t recall saying that but I don’t disagree. It’s terrible here for young women. Nobody bothers me because I’m old, but when I was taking French with a mostly college age group we talked about it and honestly I was shocked at the kind of harassment young women deal with every day here, especially given that this is a relatively small city. And it was clear that these women were not being hassled by native French guys. The saddest story was a girl who was of Muslim origin and never wore a hijab in Canada (where she was from) but started wearing one here because she was really being targeted. She was a really smart nice girl and I’m sure she was relieved to go home at the end of the summer. I’m glad to have moved to a more rural area but I still worry about my daughters. The few times that I have been hassled here, it’s been by non French men. I wish I could talk all the kids into taking Krav Maga.

      • Jadzia says:

My 2 American friends here are both trying to leave. One is in the middle of a divorce so it’s understandable, but the other is very happily married, 4 little kids, very successful husband, beautiful home. They are my favorite people here (because Mormons are just the nicest and I don’t have to pretend to be a bien pensant around them) and I really hope they stay.

      • John Denney says:

        Thank you, Jadzia.
