Barr Forms Team to Review FBI’s Actions in Trump Probe

Attorney General William Barr has assembled a team to review controversial counterintelligence decisions made by Justice Department and FBI officials, including actions taken during the probe of the Trump campaign in the summer of 2016, according to a person familiar with the matter.

This indicates that Barr is looking into allegations that Republican lawmakers have been pursuing for more than a year — that the investigation into President Donald Trump and possible collusion with Russia was tainted at the start by anti-Trump bias in the FBI and Justice Department.

“I am reviewing the conduct of the investigation and trying to get my arms around all the aspects of the counterintelligence investigation that was conducted during the summer of 2016,” Barr told a House panel on Tuesday.

Barr’s inquiry is separate from a long-running investigation by the Justice Department’s inspector general, said the person, who asked not to be identified discussing sensitive matters. The FBI declined to comment. Barr said he expected the inspector general’s work to be completed by May or June.

Asked about the prospect of such an inquiry, Trump told reporters Wednesday that he’s most interested in the attorney general “getting started on going back to the origins” of what the president called “an attempted coup.” He said “what they did was treason.”

I’m really looking forward to two solid years of breathless 24/7/365 reporting of every leak and rumor. Especially the indictment countdown:

“This is Day 243 of the Barr Investigation. When will Obama be indicted?”

Meanwhile, in other news, fuck HBO. I’ll take my chances on the spoilers and wait for the DVD release this Christmas. (Assuming the spoilers don’t reveal that the final season was a flaming pile of SJW crap)

  10. Dora says:

I was supposed to have a knee replacement today, but my morning was extremely disappointing instead.

Everything was going well. I was all prepped, wearing the hospital gown and waiting to be taken into surgery, when the doctor came over to tell me that my blood pressure was too high and he thought it best to cancel the surgery.

I’ve never had this problem before. For most of my life I had near perfect numbers and only started taking BP medication a few years ago. But it kept on going up.

During my last check up, I was told that the pain was probably increasing my blood pressure, which is one of the reasons I decided to have the surgery.

So, as instructed by the hospital, I made an appointment with my primary doctor for Friday. I hope he can find a solution to this. The hospital will call me on Monday and we will try to reschedule.

    • elliesmom says:

I fought with my blood pressure for years. Lots of different meds. My doctor told me if I lost weight, my BP would go down. I lost 60 lbs., and it did. But then inexplicably it went back up again. I take 3 different meds now. One of them makes me perpetually nauseous. Hopefully, the doctor can get your BP down far enough the surgery is safe. Then when the pain is gone, maybe your BP will settle down, too.

    • lateblum says:

Oh Dora, I am indeed sorry. 😢 I know that pain contributes to BP and it feels like it’s a not-so-merry-go-round. I hope they can do something so get your numbers back into the normal range. (Shhh, don’t let anyone know that my BP has been so high since my surgery last fall, I now have to see a cardiologist.)

    • votermom says:

Could be not getting enough sleep?

    • 49erDweet says:

Sorry, sorry, sorry, Dora. What a disappointment!

    • swanspirit says:

So sorry Dora! I am on BP meds for my blood pressure too, and am working on losing weight, as well. Which is more difficult, when your BP meds slow you down to a crawl. And it seems my BP is also due to stress, which I am also trying to manage.
My numbers shoot up, whenever I go to the doctor, sometimes as much as 20 points.
I hope yours gets managed quickly, so you can have your surgery, and end the pain.

    • mcnorman says:

Don’t forget that Big Pharma lobbied to get those numbers changed and now your ok numbers might just be too high. https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/new-blood-pressure-guidelines-mean-yours-might-be-too-high-n820456

    • Constance says:

I’m sorry that happened to you. Of course you are going to be stressed by surgery. If they gave you something like Valium it would have probably dropped down.

    • Venus E. Lee says:

Your blood pressure could have just been high because of nervousness.
      Hope everything goes well!

    • blowme0bama says:

It will work out okay. Sorry for the worry, but it will work out.

    • Dora says:

Thank you all for your thoughts and your comments. You are all more helpful than you realize.

Tomorrow I see my own doctor, who I’ve been going to for at least 25 years and I am more familiar with. I am counting on him to help with the BP problem.

The surgery might have to be put off for a few months, but it will happen!
