Trump did America proud this week. If I slog through my FB feed, I can guess which of my friends watched any of the coverage, and if they watched, what source they were watching. It’s sad, really. But I watched, and what’s very rare for me, I cried.

Doesn’t get much attention these days but this is also the 77 anniversary of the battle of Midway-June 4-7 1942, the “turning point” of the Pacific War.

Watching: The Longest Day on TCM, the Nazi’s really thought this would be a cake walk for them, per the sub-titles.

  9. Angie says:

Lol the media is so fucking pissed that the people who fought actual Nazis love Trump!

I thought my baby brother was a cunt a few hours ago. He dropped off an unwanted dog.
She is so sweet. Tiny and afraid. My tortured hound is guarding her right now. . I said no no no to another dog because Bella was seriously abused. I thought she would be jealous. Not at all. This creature is two. Scared. The vet said if we keep her there will never be another charge for any of my dogs. I have one spoiled brat. She’s a tyrant. Bella is so bad. I think she has an iPhone. I give in to her all the time. A dog runs my life.
Now this tiny thing. A beagle I think but so small. She was looking at death. My cunt brother knew I’d never let that happen. He has signed off on lifetime food and care. This tiny fur ball cannot be alone so I get her.
Toxic Masculinity. My straight white Catholic baby brother was not going to let a near puppy be put to death.
    The horror.

I must be boring with all this news about felons convicted of gun charges who are arrested on more gun violations then released on incredibly low bonds.
This was was released and within days is no charged with a drive by murder.
    As always h/t SCC
    Convicted Felons Released
THIS is what GoogleMe should be doing all the time:
“As of this afternoon, 11 of the 19 individuals arrested on gun charges over the weekend by #ChicagoPolice are already out on the street. 7 of the individuals were previously convicted felons and 6 had prior gun offenses in their backgrounds.”
The linked article is the CWB blog pointing out numerous instances of Cook County courts releasing felons on I-bonds or low bail amounts despite their tendency to ignore the conditions of said bond. The fact that a blog has to do this is pretty sad.

This should be Exhibit A in any critique of crime and disorder problems and should be Job #1 of any real Police Superintendent (and his media people) looking to defend the job his Department does in spite of Crimesha’s / Dart’s / Evan’s efforts to bail out every criminal under the sun.
    Labels: county, crime

    • lateblum says:

Kim Foxx is a big part of the problem. As the Chicago DA she has set the goal to jail as few people of color as possible. She has said so.
Let’s see what role Mayor Lightfoot plays in this. She makes lots of noise. I want to see what she actually pushes forward besides “studies” about the problem. 5 people were shot with 1 killed while driving on north Lake Shore Drive this morning. None of the victims – 4 in critical condition – are “cooperating with police” as usual. That makes for crime stopping a little difficult.

So let them fume. I’m tired of their nonsense.

Dems fume over Trump plans to address public from Lincoln Memorial on July 4

    • lateblum says:

They will fume wherever he chooses to speak. And if he chooses NOT to speak, they will fume even more. I wish their fuming would cause them to blow up rather than fume and fume some more. They are simply bad for our country.

      • Cisco says:

876 days of the Trump presidency and the Dem’s still, STILL have their panties in a bunch.
Really folks, at this point in time, fuck them.
        Let them fume till 2020.
Then they’ll be fuming their brains out.

      Fake News hits Montana.
The ‘gone by 2020’ claims were repeated in the New York Times, National Geographic, and other international news sources. But no mainstream news outlet has done any meaningful reporting regarding the apparent stabilization and recovery of the glaciers in GNP over the past decade. Even local Montana news sources such as The Missoulian, Billings Gazette and Bozeman Daily Chronicle have remained utterly silent regarding this story.

I present to the youngsters that Capitalism is rooted in Property Rights and Liberty: “This is mine; that is yours; wanna trade?”

I also present that wealth can be created, not just divided up and spread. I pointed out to a young friend who is a jeweler that the jewelry she creates is a form of wealth; she created it, and it belongs to her, to do with as she pleases, to melt it down, keep it for herself, give to friends, barter, or sell for money.

I actually like vultures. They’re funny and perform a positive task. Unlike media. I had one land on a dormer and stare in through the upstairs window once. That was unnerving.
      “We’re all fine here. Really.”

      • elliesmom says:

That’s the way I feel about possums. They aren’t pretty or cute, but they perform a positive task. They eat their weight in ticks.

Merced is one of the semi-annual stops for the Turkey Vultures. They like the Eucalyptus trees along “M” street. But if you are unlucky enough to be driving down M street when one of them poops, your windshield will be covered in one splat.

  19. Mothy67 says:

Not sure how to say this without being lugubrious. Somebody and I think Elliesmom wrote about dealing with kids and cancer. I think Somebody’s adult son said he wouldn’t change a thing.
My brother was walking the new kid ( dog) and my Bella up the street. I did not want Bella or a now almost 13 year old girl. Bella was a hot mess. Police took her from an abusive home. She is not normal. I did not want her. She was in a cage far from all the other dogs. She was going to be put down. The one Shayla picked. I love my mutt. I walk her for hours everyday. She rarely leaves my side. They were trotting up the hill playing do gooder. Bell kept turning around and looking at me. My heart melted. I did not go through cancer, but I was not meant to live. Defective I was. I did years in and out of the hospital. So many scars. They were always cutting me open. I could not walk to the end of the block without going a lovely shade of blue. I scared people. Frankenstein looking little freak. Noone could/would touch me. I had a dog, Henry, he tethered me to life.
I am 52. Lived in Philly, London, New York. I was only meant to make it a few years. Somehow I got this kid. She is absurdly athletic. It’s her identity. Swim, softball, volleyball, basketball, softball, archery, tae kwon do, track. So yeah I get this demon dog that looks longingly at me all fucking day and this amazing child. I’d take it all again, twice with sprinkles. Shaypup is extraordinary. Taylon lives above a nail salon. His mom is from Vietnam. He’s a math genius. Answers everything with IDK (I don’t know) He wants to play in the NFL. He refuses/denies his sick math skills. Will only go to these events at Carnegie Mellon if “tits” goes. Pup gets A’s in math but she is not Einstein. We have a very small district. I have known Tay for nine years. Wish he would not call my brat “tits”. It’s dna. All of my mom’s sisters had reductions. She got a chest and because of ballet a caboose. A pair of jeans cost me 250. I can’t buy from a store. She was thrown away like trash. She goes with Taylon to one of the best schools in the world. She is 12. Yeah I wish Tay did not call her tits. He’s a boy. A very smart boy. Shay is not ashamed of her person. They get along. What if I or Shay went snowflake? She is 12 and goes to lunch with professors. The Cathedral of Learning is this breathtaking building on Pitt’s campus. She was a tadpole when i first took her there. A child destined for nothing. I said look up. Dream and dream big. She was two in a stroller. I do the patron of the arts thing. It’s 200 a year maybe less. We do museums on the Friday after Thanksgiving. My clan spends a day at the museum. I had an outhouse and cut up newspaper to wipe. Never going to happen with my kid. . But she won’t get some of what i got. My dad managed a drive in as his second job. We were always hungry. Nights at the movies were so much fun. I worked but God we ate. I saw everything. Still have a huge crush on sandy duncan. I got screwed with a scholarship to Purdue. Engineering. My great grandfather was an engineer on a train. I was 16. I thought i was going to learn how to run a train. Life throws a lot of curve balls. I ended up at Hunter teaching the most spoiled brats on earth.
FYI my mom quit high school in 10th grade. Had six kids. Became a nurse and then an executive.

I love my stories. When I was in my early 20’s I told my parents I was gay. We did not speak for 25 years. No fights just go away.
I walked into a bar on Avenue A. They were freaking out because two guys that looked like cops were searching for me. I asked did they have very blue eyes and were they kinda of funny.
25 years later I knew it was my brothers. We had not spoken in years. I lived on Great Jones. There is a fire station across the street. I was going home and I heard their laugh at 4 a m. Who gets that kinda shit. They took Amtrak to find me. Had not spoken in years. I had no phone in my name. The idiots just showed up in New York to find their brother. It’s impossible. They hit bars. I love holes in the wall. I do dives. Had not seen my siblings in 25 years. They didn’t hit New York gay bars. They found me in one day and then sat outside my home with fireman.
