      Loved this Denise!

      • DeniseVB says:

It gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. Very few people know why that flag was still standing there. It should be shown in schools everywhere, kids are growing up so clueless about sacrifices.

        • Mt.Laurel says:

          Loved it!

Francis Scott Key was from Frederick Maryland and Ft. McHenry is located at the harbor in Baltimore yet much of the state has been busy trying to get Key’s name off everything from ball fields to parks.

    • votermom says:

      that was awesome

    • Woke Lola says:

Definitely awesome. Beautiful story. Annoyed by the errors in the text on the song part, tho.

      • DeniseVB says:

Didn’t the lyrics get tweaked over the years?

        • Woke Lola says:

No, they haven’t. Whoever made the video just posted what they thought the song said. Every inch of every letter in this song-which started life as a poem–is sacred.

Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

  6. DandyTIger says:

So all Trump had to do to get the Dems to protest America, the founding of the country on the 4th, and to burn the American flag was to add a bit of pomp to the capital celebration. Easiest re-election effort ever.

    • DeniseVB says:

Not to mention those great patriots on social media posting historical confirmation of former Presidents parading our heaviest artillery for all kinds of reasons, Inaugurations, celebrating ends of war and other cool stuff. As a kid growing up in the military, loved every minute of celebrating our troops. Especially when I was at a base elementary school and the Marines brought a tank for show and tell, let us climb all over it, sit in the driver’s seat and play pretend firing off those biggy guns.

    • lyn says:

      That’s our president!

Pretty much. He definitely knows how to work them up. My favorite thing about him.

Good one ! The media’s so complicit spreading this “joy” too. We’ve had problems at the border since Clinton (+Bush +Obama). If only one msm outlet would report the truth about the Cloward-Piven methods being used against Trump by the Globalists, at least it’s obvious to me.

Who else but President Trump would hold a rally on the same day Müller will “testify” from a prepared script in front of the Kangaroo Court of Pencilneck and Lardass.

Also, that many were detained at Ellis Island for a while for their own sake and the safety of the nation. Our legal immigration system is now so advanced we dont need to do that for those coming legally, but it’s still necessary for those coming illegally.

Today’s events will involve the participation of the ceremonial Army units. I didn’t appreciate the “eliteness” of the soldiers until I recently read Sen. Cotton’s book “Sacred Duty”.
    For example:
“The busiest ceremonial unit in The Old Guard is the Continental Color Guard, which performs in more than seven hundred events per year, even though it has only twenty-five soldiers.”
“the attrition rate for CCG training exceeds 80 percent because of the platoon’s extreme strength and endurance demands.”
“And they conduct two standing-proficiency tests, one holding colors for ninety minutes and one at attention for three hours in a room brought to more than ninety degrees with sauna-like humidity to simulate an outdoor summer ceremony.”

“The Fife and Drum Corps’ unique character starts with its uniform. They wear the 1779 Continental Musician uniform, which resembles CCG’s infantry uniform with one key difference: the musician’s uniform coat is red with blue trim. Military commanders in the revolutionary period used musicians for signaling, thus they wore reverse colors so commanders could identify them quickly on the battlefield.”
“The drum major’s uniform is even more distinctive. He wears the period’s light-infantry cap, which is a leather cap with a long bear-fur Mohawk from the bill to the base of the neck. And he carries an espontoon, a seven-foot spear used to give silent commands. Because the espontoon does not leave his right hand, the drum major is the only soldier in the Army authorized to salute with his left hand.”

“Unlike nearly all Army units, FDC is a permanent duty station; once assigned its soldiers can stay for the remainder of their careers, making it one of the Army’s most stable and experienced units.”

etc., etc. It’s going to be a terrific day and I now have a better appreciation for the ceremonial troops.

    • Cisco says:

Taking that off my list of things I don’t know.
Amazing, really a great insight into the demands of the unit.
      Thanks for the info.

      • SHV says:

Highly recommend the book, also on Kindle and Audible. Most of the book is about Arlington Cemetery and the “Old Guard” troops stationed there. Sen. Tom Cotton spent a tour as a member of the Old Guard at Arlington between his combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan (101st Airborne, Air Assault platoon leader).

Any Howard Stern fans here? Just got his new book and it’s fabulous.

Don’t forget to use VM’s Amazon portal link in the right column to help her earn some nickels for the college fund 😀

Anyhoo, it’s a transcript compilation of some of his favorite interviews over the years. There’s a lot of Trump from the 90’s/00’s. Loved the bawdy humor of Apprentice era Donald, on dating Melania, his kids and other opinions on everything. Just proves our President hasn’t changed a bit. I was especially happy to read DJT registered for the draft (not a “dodger” at all as the left claims), he just had a high number, and the draft ended with the VN war. His kids got into Wharton based on their own merits, no, he didn’t build a wing, though several parents who did, their kids didn’t get in.

The book is over 500 pages and there’s many other high profile people included, but I just had to read all the Trump interviews first. So fun. Damn heavy book, my hands went numb, but look forward to reading the rest. The Trump interviews were worth the price of the book, me happy!

From an email Milo just sent out:

    Happy 4th to you,
    American Ingrates
Two hundred and forty-three years ago, your forefathers picked a fight with my king.

happy fourth of july We nipped across the ocean and set up camp in Boston to remind you scrappy Colonists who rules the world and to whom you should bow. To this day, I still enjoy seeing fighting-age American men on their knees in front of me.

But, despite our superior European grasp of style, finely tailored red coats and elegant manners, your troops surrounded my General Cornwallis at Yorktown and he had no choice but to accept defeat and lay down arms to General Washington.

Great Britain has never been the same.

We had so much potential! To this day, Brits could be partying like Saudi princes in London on the backs of your labor and the wealth it could have brought to the Empire.

But your forefathers chose not to be slaves to kings.

    Instead, you chose to fight.

It was a humbling lesson to England, but one we still have not fully grasped.

That’s why, as a British-born man, I proudly stand on this Fourth of July . . . on American soil. I’ve voted with my feet and realized that, despite your horrendous impertinence, this is the greatest nation in the history of human civilization.

And I am honored to enjoy the privilege and prosperity it has brought me.

Since our defeat in 1781, Brits chose to endure rather than truly fight.

Today, we endure a Muslim invasion that will leave my island nation a shadow of its former self. Brits walk the streets today oblivious to their culture crumbling around them—or cognizant of it and terrified.

Britain’s national dish used to be a curry named chicken tikka masala. These days it’s the severed head of the Infidel.

But Americans fight. And that’s why I’m here, standing beside you.

Happy Fourth of July, my American friends.

    Be proud of your past.

    Be proud of your future.

And most importantly, never abandon the fighting spirit that has granted you freedom from tyranny.

It is a typical July 4th in term of weather for the D.C. area. Usually starts the last half of June and keeps on going through the rest of the summer. This is why until air conditioning became standard, many countries gave their diplomatic staffs extra pay for having to live in a tropical environment.

I knew the minute I opened the front door this morning that we were going to have unpredictable pop up storms. There have been several points today where he dew point was the same as the temperature. storms lower the temps but not the humidity. Not an uncommon occurrence in parts of the country. It is miserable and I give kudos to those who are in town to celebrate their country’s birthday as they have to deal with Mother Nature’s temper tantrums and the annoying antics of the Blimp-able imbeciles.

Known you doing OK? Get much shaking from the quake? How about DS and family? They were much closer to the epicenter, right? Klown mom OK?

Check in and let us know how everybody is. (I admit I know nothing of earthquakes, but 6.4 is a pretty good jolt right?)

    • Somebody says:

Klown not known, stupid autocorrect, it tried to change it to Klein too, caught that….missed known 🙄

    • 49erDweet says:

From what my FB buddies living just east of Klown say he probably felt the first jolt, but not much else. Nada over on the coast. Btw, that very busy quake site is where the “big one” will occur that let’s a big chunk of California finally break away from the mainland and become it’s own nation.

    • Myiq2xu™ says:

      I didn’t feel nuttin today.

The biggest quake I ever felt was the Loma Prieta (World Series) Quake. It was 6.9, and we got shook pretty good. I was about 10-15 miles from the epicenter.

California is overdue for a biggun.

Just watched the movie The Long Grey LIne. and yes I cried.
Today’s dems have no clue of what the words Duty – Honor – Country stand for and what they mean. The would so willingly give up our freedoms for some phony promises. They think a bunch of thugs such cowards that they cover their faces as they attack the unarmed and elderly are just peachy. Willing to kill future generations without a thought. They want without being willing to pay the price of their wanting. They destroy our history without a thought. They sicken me and I cry for this country. When have we ever had to fight such inside enemies?

They are free to pack their stuff, give up USA citizenship (those that actually are citizens) and move elsewhere. Any time. No one is stopping them. Although they might find some countries do not want them and many have strict quotas, guidelines and mandatory requirements such as sufficient money in the bank, being able able to speak and write in the country’s language and a job in hand (that cannot be filled by an actual citizen of said country). Oh – then there is the pesky problem that many countries do not like those with criminal records.
