it’s been 56 years since Rev. Martin Luther King gave his historic “Dream” speech, and Democrats are still judging people by the color of their skin.
Colin Kaepernick is a Leftist. And as Leftists are wont to do, he tried to shit all over a patriotic holiday. Kaepernick is biracial but he was adopted and raised by an upper-middle-class white family. He played quarterback in college and was a professional quarterback in the NFL but then he “got woke” and decided (with the help of his Leftist girlfriend) that America is evil and oppressive.
So yesterday morning he crapped out this tweet quoting Republican abolitionist Frederick Douglass:
In response, Senator Ted Cruz tweeted back:
You gotta read the whole thread to see how thoroughly Cruz schooled Kaepernick. This seems to have offended Mara Gay, a member of the NYT Editorial Board:
Ms. Gay has not explained her tweet, but the obvious implication is that since Douglass was black and Cruz is white, Cruz is not allowed to quote Douglass. According to Democrats, Frederick Douglass belongs exclusively to black people. So does MLK. They are part of the New Segregation. Examples of this attempt to resegregate America are plentiful.
When the movie “Black Panther” was released, black activists demanded that there be special “black only” showings. Megyn Kelly lost her job at NBC for saying there was nothing wrong with little white kids wearing blackface to they could trick-or-treat as Black Panther.
Numerous universities and colleges hold special “black only” graduation ceremonies. Activists are demanding “black only” dormitories and meeting places. On the other hand, “white only” places and activities are prohibited.
In several cities across America black activists and other Democrats campaign against “gentrification” which is the term for when white people (often gay) with money buy property in “black” neighborhoods and fix it up. Their arguments assert that the black community has some sort of usufructuary interest in those properties. Nevermind that those arguments were rejected 50 years ago when white people objected to black people moving into their neighborhoods.
In Flint, Michigan where it is safer to drink piss than tap water, the city council voted to award a contract to replace contaminated pipes to a black-owned business rather than the white-owned lowest bidder.
Then there is the whole topic of race and racism and the “N-word.” White people (with the exception of Quentin Tarantino) are not permitted to use the N-word. Black people can use it anytime and anywhere. When discussing race and racism white people have to tiptoe carefully thru the tulips while black people can say things that are objectively racist with impunity.
The old Segregation was a toxic byproduct of slavery, and it was enforced by law and by lynch mob. The new Segregation does not yet have the force of law behind it, but it is enforced both online and in real life by mobs. Justine Sacco lost her job because of a Twitter mob, Andy Ngo nearly lost his life to a real life mob.
Worst of all, the rules keep changing. That’s because any concession we make to the Left becomes the new starting point for their new demands.
