Tom Steyer Shows Us What A Billion Dollars And Zero Scruples Can Get You

My first thought in watching this anti-Trump ad was “Well, that explains some of the odd questions and answers during the hearing.”

ROBERT MUELLER was panned last week for being short in his testimony before Congress, giving little ammo to Democrats who wanted to capitalize politically from his appearance.

… BUT DEMOCRATIC AD-MAKER MARK PUTNAM has cut the first paid ad from the hearings, funded by TOM STEYER’S Need to Impeach, a spot that’s going to grab many eyeballs in the coming days. The group is spending in the mid-six figures to air the ad on CNN and MSNBC before and after the second presidential debate (which airs tonight and Wednesday night on CNN live from Detroit). Needless to say, this is prime time for millions of politically active TV viewers.

THE AD IS 30 SECONDS LONG. It starts out with a frame of the committee room and “WHAT MUELLER SAID” across the screen. “Did you actually totally exonerate the president?” House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) asks Mueller. “No,” Mueller says. Did the president’s written answers show that he was not always being truthful, Rep. Val Demings (D-Fla.) asks. “Generally,” Mueller replies. You believe you could charge the president with obstruction after he leaves office? “Yes,” Mueller says.

I’m not sure how many hours of testifying and how many hours of speechifying took place that day, but I know the hearings lasted at least six hours. So out of 6 hours, they extracted 30 seconds. I have never heard of the guy who made this ad, but I’ve heard of the guy who paid for it. His name is Tom Steyer.

Steyer is a liberal Democrat and a billionaire. He made a buttload of money in the 80’s and 90’s then he decided he had enough money so he quit the rat race and took up a new hobby – politics. In 2017, shortly after Trump took office, Steyer started a campaign to impeach him.
Now he wants to be president.

Trump was not the first billionaire to run for POTUS and he won’t be the last. But the skillsets needed to make lots of money are not identical to the ones needed to win an election or to govern a nation. Trump spent years getting ready, developing and honing his skills.

I’m already feeling a little burned out on the 2020 election. Part of me can’t wait for the primaries to start and part of me is dreading it. This one is gonna be ugly. It’s gonna be so ugly it would make Joy Behar look like a playboy centerfold by comparison.

And I’m already sick of it.

    Oh my,

    • Myiq2xu™ says:

Sounds like they were all ganging up on her. The weaker players take out the frontrunner and everybody moves up a spot.

This primary should have been made into a season of Survivor. “This week’s challenge: the players will have to walk across San Francisco while barefoot without stepping in human feces.”

    • lyn says:

Harris looks like Faye Dunaway in that shot.

  3. DeniseVB says:

Debate wrap up, amirite? Night-Night all 😀

  5. Alessandro Machi says:

Tom Steyer’s Impeachment ad I think crossed a line. it actually sounded treasonous based on the phrasing that was chosen. Both Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump had 8 consecutive years hosting a National TV show, it takes time to develop a TV personality, Steyer is eight years behind.

    • Constance says:

The ad was definitely “off”. Steyer comes off as a typical self righteous strident Lib. These Progressives have replaced religious fanatics as the archetype people dread running in to or having to listen too.

  6. lyn says:

Leftists have a lot of billionaire bigots who hate President Trump and half the country. U.S. caca media are in their underwear too.

Tulsi is hot. She has to be a Republican plant. I am gay and I am like damn.

    • Cisco says:

I was digging on Tulsi too mothy67.
I could only think of one word to describe her,
      And brains to boot.

    • Constance says:

I was watching with my 32 year old son and he liked her too. She is smart. I think she is running for name recognition for 2024. I might consider voting for her. They also have a couple of decent male candidates but they aren’t interested in them. Too bad, it’s like Democrats are committing slow motion suicide.

      • DeniseVB says:

I think you’re right about 2024, none of these guys have a chance with a fair election. That’s why we need a landslide victory, in case it’s not 🙂

        • Constance says:

I hope for a landslide too. I can’t wait for these extremist assholes who tried to end the Electoral College with their chicken shit state laws to have to cast their electoral votes for Trump because he is the popular vote winner nation wide. Oh God they are going to be spewing and writhing with outrage! It will be better than watching election night 2016.

    • Island Girl says:

I am proud to have voted for her some years back, she trashed that trash tonight LOFL

    • Anthony says:

Meanwhile, the people UP the block are saying:

One more thing, you may not like Harris, that’s your choice. But all the alarms should be going off about Tulsi. We should not be applauding what she says about Harris or anyone else. It’s RUSSIAN PROPAGANDA.
It’s only July 2019 and Russian Propaganda is already being fed to the voters through a person who is running for president and amplified by Russian Trolls!!!!!
      Sound familiar?????

Translation: Kamala T. Harris is the chosen one

      • Angie says:

Yes. Harris will be the nominee unless some Trump like figure on the Dem side is able to beat the Dem establishment. Tulsa isn’t going to be able to do it & I don’t see anyone else so far who has what it takes.
Trump was only able to do it to the R establishment because he didn’t need their $ to run & because –love him or hate him –he knows how to get the focus on him.

        • Angie says:

Provisio: Warren is the Dem establishment’s Plan B.

          • Constance says:

Warren is a colossal pain in the ass. I’m surprised she can get enough votes to keep a senate seat. She reminds me of back in college there was always one kid who is super book-smart, way smarter than the “pretty smart” people and when ever that person is in your class they drive the curve up and screw everyone. It’s not enough for those people to get the highest grade of 93% on a test. No, they have to get 100% and full credit on the extra credit question on tests no one else can even finish taking in an hour. Everyone groans when they walk in the room. I don’t think Warren has a chance in hell.

          • blowme0bama says:

            Agreed on warren

          • John Denney says:

To me, Warren is a strident harpie.

          • Angie says:

            You are correct.

  8. DandyTIger says:

Just hearing the DNC selected candidate, Harris, was smacked around is great. I’ll have to watch some of those clips, like the one posted above. I figured everyone would go after Biden, but instead it’s sounding like they went after Harris more. Winning.

  9. Mothy67 says:

Reflecting up above as my kindle is jumping.
In early 2006 or late 2007,there was a reality show in development called something like American Pesident. It was squashed and then we got obama.

  10. swanspirit says:

Tom Steyer is ugly, really ugly. Ugly in the sense that ugly is wickedly or lacking in virtue or merit , and beauty is ultimately pleasing, because it is good, and fulfilling.

  11. helenk3 says:

    Random thought
the dems, the never trumpers, and the msm can not stand the fact that Trump goes directly to the people with his tweets. They do not get to filter him and put their ideas of what he meant to say in place. It has been a long time since the people get hear what is going on without a filter. I think they are afraid the people might want that from now on. Then what will they do?

  12. helenk3 says:

when his time finally comes, will he have to have stripped curtains put in his cell so the other prisoners won’t see him?

    Vodkapundit’s wrap-up …..

It was a big dud tonight.

Not that there weren’t any fireworks, because there were a few. Not because it was tedious, which might just be my partisan bias. And not just because the field of ten had maybe three actual contenders.

It was a big dud because — and correct me if I’m wrong here — nobody did anything to move the needle.

Biden recovered from his last outing, but didn’t show us anything new. Harris failed completely to capitalize on her earlier gains, and if I found out she really was on some kind of cold medicine, I wouldn’t be in the least surprised. Booker promised to take on Biden, but demurred. Gabbard is *this* close to being a real contender, but isn’t quite campaigning at that level. Castro is better than expected, but not that much better. And the rest were all just kind of there.

So as I said earlier, I think Biden wins by default. And Harris lost… because, jeez, did you see her?

And everyone else is pretty much treading water.

My advice to the Dems would be to winnow this debate field down by 75%, and to do so quickly. Because duds don’t sell, not in the primaries, and not in the general election.

    I hope they don’t listen.

  15. DeniseVB says:

Tulsi’s closing statement took her off my preferred candidate list.

  16. Mothy67 says:

I wonder how much time she’ll get.

    • Mothy67 says:

I hope they let her off. I got the feeling she and the cop actually like each other, but twitter is going crazy with the white privilege.

  17. Dora says:

I don’t know who she is, but it looks like we have a new ambassador.

  18. Dora says:

Don’t know what this is about.

  19. DeniseVB says:

    Just for fun…..

  20. Dora says:

And you think today’s entertainers are weird. (this is just for fun too) 🙂

  21. helenk3 says:

since 1953 66 years the dems have run Baltimore. Conditions there do not say much for dems, does it

  22. Mothy67 says:

Question for drivers if you get pulled over for a broken tail light abd refuse to sign can you get arrested? The woman upthread got tased 2x and arrested. Is that protocol? Why wouldn’t they just mail her the ticket. Such a silly world. I hope the 65 year old woman walks, but this made national news so there will be pressure.

    • Miranda says:

She ran from the cop and got aggressive, and that’s why she got tased. Much simpler to pay the ticket.

      • Mothy67 says:

I get that she escalated it, but i guess my question is did she have a right to not sign? Could the fine have just been mailed. Then she could refuse to pay and face that consequence? Telling her to get out of her truck seemed to me extreme.

        • Myiq2xu™ says:

When you get a traffic ticket you are technically arrested and then released upon your written promise to appear. If you don’t sign you can’t be released. The cops never change their minds about giving you a ticket if you argue with them.

          • Mothy67 says:

            Thanks. I had no idea.

          • lateblum says:

True. But when you go to court, many times the judge may reverse the charge and the driver goes home free. I’ve had only a few tickets. All have been dropped once I appeared in traffic court. Even the one time I pleaded guilty.

          • Myiq2xu™ says:

I have fought three traffic tickets. The first two I was innocent but lost. The third one I was guilty as sin and went free as a bird. (I was in law school when I got the third one and used a sneaky lawyer trick to win)

  23. DeniseVB says:

The left wants Mario fired now, apology wasn’t enough. They’re never happy, but wait, this is over him not supporting let a 3 year old choose their gender? Oy.

  24. helenk3 says:

what do they do now? when the attack Biden they attack they attack their messiah too. That is a sacrilege

  25. Mothy67 says:

Do you think Trump would have run in 2016 if biden was the nominee?
    And would he have won?

  26. Dora says:

    A rally! I don’t mean tonight’s. This is the next one. 🙂

  27. SHV says:

“Kelly Craft confirmed to be next US ambassador to the UN”
Best I can tell is that she is a “nobody” who is appointed ambassador as a reward for party/donor support; he husband is a billionaire coal company CEO. I think the bigger message is that PDJT thinks the UN and the ambassadorship is pretty much worthless.

    • Cisco says:

I agree SHV, the UN is worthless now that muslims are running important committees.
Thus any Ambassadorship to same is equally worthless.
Just a nice reward for donating $$$

    • Mothy67 says:

Yeah I think it’s Trump saying we are done with you. Haley laid down the law this woman is just going to show up. The UN is not worth the fight.

  28. Dora says:

We sort of knew this was coming.

  29. Dora says:

    • SHV says:

US Bank Arena is listed as 17,500 capacity for concerts. Most previous PDJT rally venues have been in the 10,000 range, I assume for security reasons. I wonder if this larger capacity site signals larger rally arenas moving into formal campaign season? I want to see NFL stadiums after Sept.

      • DeniseVB says:

I read the Secret Service limits crowd sizes for rallies to about 10-12,000, that pretty much maxes their protection team members (they will pull from the local field offices to add to the daily crew at special events like this). I’d love to see a few stadium appearances next summer when the NFL is idle. I think PT prefers the smaller towns/city venues since people are willing to drive hours.

The Dems are eating their own in this thread. It’s kinda fun….

    • Mt.Laurel says:

so if the same bots [foreign and domestic as long as they hate the USA] donate to each and every dem campaign, are they still considered “unique”?

      • DeniseVB says:

I don’t know how they’re picking up new donors, especially half on that list. Tulsi will qualify by out raising them all this month 🙂

      • 1539days says:

Yes. You can cover your bases and donate the maximum amount to every candidate. Although, I don’t see a Democrat who would want to perpetuate the clown show by having another 20-candidate debate with Marianne Williamson.

        • DeniseVB says:

I think the Republican scaliwags will money bomb her by getting 130,000 one dollar donations. I think they did that for the first two debates 🙂

    • Mothy67 says:

      Will beto ever go away?

  32. DeniseVB says:

    Great seat !

  33. Woke Lola says:

What bullshit that ad is. To tally taken out of context and failed to not that he had to walk back the “Yes” to alleged obstruction of justice answer later that day.

They’re going to lose any way you look at it. It’s not like Democrats are known for sudden competence.

I know the MSM will not show this, so here it is:

    • DeniseVB says:

He just said this crowd set a record in attendance, still people outside in the heat, tried to get many more in, but their DEMOCRAT Mayor wouldn’t let them. He said the temp in the arena is about 100 degrees too, the Mayor?

    • helenk3 says:

nothing like telling America’s enemies “hey go ahead attack our ships, our drones, our planes and what the hell take all the prisoners you want, we won’t really do anything to fight back,
listening to the dems that are running for president, they are an insult to the people of this country and should be treated like enemy combatants
