Today’s vocabulary word is “counterproductive.” Can you say “counterproductive?”
Very good! Bobby, how many syllables was that? That’s right, five syllables.
Here is the definition counterproductive:
Having an effect that is the opposite of what you intend or desire
Here is an example: Jimmy, if you wanted Susie to like you, would you get a big rock and smash her in the face? No, you wouldn’t do that, would you? Why not? That’s right, she wouldn’t like you if you did that. Smashing Susie’s face with a big rock would be counterproductive.
Let me read you a news report from WLKY:
Protesters are gathering outside of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s Louisville home Monday.
Approximately 25 protesters are chanting on topics ranging from wanting someone to replace him in Congress to mocking his response to mass shootings.
A group of what appeared to be security guards stood watch on McConnell’s front yard, keeping an eye on the demonstrators.
One organizer said the protest is partially in response to this weekend’s mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton but is largely about a range of policy issues. She said she feels this is the only way they can be heard.
The group said they knew McConnell was home because of his recent injury. McConnell fell over the weekend and fractured his shoulder and is recovering at his Louisville home.
Okay, time for recess. You little snowflakes go play or have a cigarette or somethin’ while I chat with the grown-ups.
This post should be filed under “Leftists are stupid” but pretty much all my posts could be filed that way. This protest at Cocaine Mitch’s place was pretty mild compared to some we have seen lately, but I gotta wonder – what is it they were trying to accomplish?
I read some self-help guide once on the topic of achieving your goals. The first step is you have to have a goal. The second step is mapping out how you plan to get from where you are to where you want to be. Then each day you should be asking yourself, “How is what I am doing now helping me reach my goal?”
The reason I bring this up is that I have trouble reconciling what Leftists claim they want with the things they say and do. For instance, if you want to win elections then calling half the voters “deplorable racists” doesn’t seem to be conducive to reaching your goal. I know that when Obama supporters started calling me a racist it sure didn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy about Obama.
If your goal is enacting stricter gun control laws, then acting like unhinged lunatics is probably not going to make people feel willing to disarm. In fact, it is far more likely that you will motivate them to go buy more guns, or at least buy more ammo.
If you read the replies to any tweet that is at least five minutes old and was posted by President Trump or Dana Loesch, I’ll guarantee you’ll find some unhinged Leftist shit. And when I say unhinged I mean off the hook. One thing that is pretty clear is that Leftists are not interested in winning converts. If they can’t beat us unto submission, they want us dead.
And that is where the counterproductive part kicks into high gear. I said the other day that Leftists want power while people on the right just want to be left the hell alone. That is starting to change. More and more I see comments from righties to the effect that the Left will never allow us to peacefully coexist.
If we can’t peacefully coexist and we aren’t willing to submit or die, that only leaves one option. If the Leftists’ goal is to trigger a new civil war, they are on the right track. They should be careful what they wish for because if they’re not careful they will get it.
If their goal is to win elections, their strategy will only work in areas they already control. That is because their antics are scaring the hell out of moderates and muddlers. You are supposed to make the undecideds afraid of the other guy, not make them afraid of your side.
