Can You Say “Counterproductive?”

Hi kids!

Today’s vocabulary word is “counterproductive.” Can you say “counterproductive?”

Very good! Bobby, how many syllables was that? That’s right, five syllables.

Here is the definition counterproductive:

Having an effect that is the opposite of what you intend or desire

Here is an example: Jimmy, if you wanted Susie to like you, would you get a big rock and smash her in the face? No, you wouldn’t do that, would you? Why not? That’s right, she wouldn’t like you if you did that. Smashing Susie’s face with a big rock would be counterproductive.

Let me read you a news report from WLKY:

Protesters assembling, chanting outside Sen. Mitch McConnell’s Louisville home

Protesters are gathering outside of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s Louisville home Monday.

Approximately 25 protesters are chanting on topics ranging from wanting someone to replace him in Congress to mocking his response to mass shootings.

A group of what appeared to be security guards stood watch on McConnell’s front yard, keeping an eye on the demonstrators.

One organizer said the protest is partially in response to this weekend’s mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton but is largely about a range of policy issues. She said she feels this is the only way they can be heard.

The group said they knew McConnell was home because of his recent injury. McConnell fell over the weekend and fractured his shoulder and is recovering at his Louisville home.

Okay, time for recess. You little snowflakes go play or have a cigarette or somethin’ while I chat with the grown-ups.

This post should be filed under “Leftists are stupid” but pretty much all my posts could be filed that way. This protest at Cocaine Mitch’s place was pretty mild compared to some we have seen lately, but I gotta wonder – what is it they were trying to accomplish?

I read some self-help guide once on the topic of achieving your goals. The first step is you have to have a goal. The second step is mapping out how you plan to get from where you are to where you want to be. Then each day you should be asking yourself, “How is what I am doing now helping me reach my goal?”

The reason I bring this up is that I have trouble reconciling what Leftists claim they want with the things they say and do. For instance, if you want to win elections then calling half the voters “deplorable racists” doesn’t seem to be conducive to reaching your goal. I know that when Obama supporters started calling me a racist it sure didn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy about Obama.

If your goal is enacting stricter gun control laws, then acting like unhinged lunatics is probably not going to make people feel willing to disarm. In fact, it is far more likely that you will motivate them to go buy more guns, or at least buy more ammo.

If you read the replies to any tweet that is at least five minutes old and was posted by President Trump or Dana Loesch, I’ll guarantee you’ll find some unhinged Leftist shit. And when I say unhinged I mean off the hook. One thing that is pretty clear is that Leftists are not interested in winning converts. If they can’t beat us unto submission, they want us dead.

And that is where the counterproductive part kicks into high gear. I said the other day that Leftists want power while people on the right just want to be left the hell alone. That is starting to change. More and more I see comments from righties to the effect that the Left will never allow us to peacefully coexist.

If we can’t peacefully coexist and we aren’t willing to submit or die, that only leaves one option. If the Leftists’ goal is to trigger a new civil war, they are on the right track. They should be careful what they wish for because if they’re not careful they will get it.

If their goal is to win elections, their strategy will only work in areas they already control. That is because their antics are scaring the hell out of moderates and muddlers. You are supposed to make the undecideds afraid of the other guy, not make them afraid of your side.

Her string-puller had to resign. I wonder who is pulling her strings now?

Don’t be surprised to see her get a strong primary challenger. If that doesn’t work then watch what happens during the next redistricting. If NY loses one or more seats after the next census her district may disappear.

Are her constituents happy with her? She won the last Dem primary as a stealth candidate. She can’t do that next time.

Losers were posting crap about Moscow Mitch on GOP Rep. Greg Walden’s FB page. I told them it’s Cocaine Mitch to you.

I keep trying to convince the #WalkAway group, some of us are walking away from the GOP too. My story was when the GOPe, attacked/didn’t defend Sarah Palin in 2008. We already knew Team McCain threw her under the bus when they lost. Even made a movie about it.

Imagine if Great Britain had occupied Manhattan with a 200-year lease as part of the Treaty of Ghent after the War of 1812. Would we want it back? Hell yes. If GB pulled out in 2012, would we let NYC be autonomous? Hell no.

Short of going to war over HK there is little that we can do to stop China from crushing the HK resistance. Economic sanctions would have a limited effect on China, and we’re already in a trade war with them.

It sucks for the people of HK, but it is not worth one American life to go to war over it. You don’t see the Brits getting overly upset about it and it was their colony.

      Some problems don’t have solutions.

It’s like the 1956 Hungarian Uprising. When the Soviets crushed it Ike saw that there was nothing we could do – from a tactical standpoint it would have been a nightmare and even if we won it would have left Hungary in ruins and it would have killed more Hungarians.

I met a woman from there when I was in the hospital years ago. She told me what it was like when the Russian tanks came in and Russia took over the country. Maybe the dems of today should talk to her. How you could not move from one place to another without the state,s permission and the complete loss of freedom. I never forgot what she told me. Between learning in schools the evils of socialism her experience taught me a lot

        • Myiq2xu™ says:

Even the Russians like Vlad Putin who are nostalgic for the days when the USSR was a superpower don’t want to bring back socialism. Socialism is more popular in capitalist countries of the West than in the former socialist republics.

The presidential campaign of Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) is demanding that President Donald Trump cancel a planned rally in Manchester next week, and all future rallies nationwide, stating that his rallies are a “breeding ground for racism and bigotry that inspire white nationalist attacks.

“Looking at the data from the Mass Shooting Tracker, widely utilized by the media, as of this writing, of the 72 mass shooters, perpetrators in shootings that killed or wounded 4 or more people, whose race is known, 21 were white, 37 were black, 8 were Latino, and 6 were members of other groups.
51% of mass shooters in 2019 were black, 29% were white, and 11% were Latino.
Three mass shooters were Asian, two were American Indian and one was Arab.

Once upon a time I was shocked and amazed by the Progs ability to make 180 degree turns on what they had claimed to be deeply held moral and ethical issues.

Jeralyn over at TalkLeft made a big deal over rumors that Obama would pick Joe Biden as his VP – Jeralyn called it a “dealbreaker.” Then Obama picked Biden and Jeralyn did an Emily Litella and said “Nevermind.”

In 2008 the FISA revision was pending and telecomm immunity was a big deal. Then Obama flip-flopped and voted for it and the Progs were like “We have always been at war with Eastasia.”

You don’t hear much about #metoo anymore, do you? It was all good until the Left started taking casualties from “friendly fire.”

why would we vote democrat when according to them we have a master of the universe in office now. Think about it he has mind control and can make someone give up their free will and become a mass shooter. he can make people to be overcome by hate. He must be the real candy man.

  16. Woke Lola says:

I can’t even be bothered by this shit anymore. It’s all white progressive noise now. I just take to Twitter when I need to vent. Lots of great targets there. Plus, the Right has gotten really good at either effectively mocking or flip-turning the ridiculous beliefs of the Left so their ideas are transparently vapid. Just as did when I started Peacocks and Lilies back in May 2008, I still belief in the power of reasoning abilities of most of my fellow voting Americans.

I’ve had the conversation with several friends about how their denigration of Trump’s supporters hurts their cause more than it helps it. To a one, they say calling Trump a racist, a misogynist, a homophobe, etc, etc, etc, just rolls off his back. So they’ve decided what will work is calling his supporters those things because it will make us too embarrassed to vote for him again. Like being called “bitter clinger racists” made us all love Obama? Or being called a “basket of deplorables” got Hillary votes? How many people left Ravelry over being called “white supremacists”? Did Ravelry get a lot of new members (ones who actually buy and sell things there) to replace them? “Counterproductive” needs to be a vocabulary word or in an analogy on every SAT test.
