Friday Means Politically Incorrect Day, Right?

Tuning out the blather on social media and enjoying this 1936 version of “Showboat” on TCM. I dedicate this scene to trigger “feminists” who really need to find a man dey can’t help loving and the race baiters who will definitely try and have this scene erased from cinema history. Whew, huh?

The only copy I could find is dubbed in another language, I guess we can share it at the border detention centers? /Snort.

Open thread, of course 😀 Hoping myiq got checked out this morning for his boo-boo leg.

As the movie continues, it gets worse snowflakes, a dance number in blackface. Ouch. This movie is 83 years old, all fun and music. “Old Man River” was the original River of Liberal Tears, I suppose 🙂

RE: boo-boos. Vet Aid works wonders. The periodontist was surprised how well my gums healed in a week after my four teeth were removed and the bone grafts were implanted. I told him I sprayed Vet Aid on the area four or more times a day. LOL.

Thanks for the update ! Thinking of you the other day and hoping you survived 😀 Are they prepping you for implants?

      • lyn says:

It takes six months for the bone to grow, and then the two implant screws will be inserted. It takes another four months for the implants to set. For my hand/wrist, I’m doing occupational therapy. The CT scan showed no fractures, and the OT thinks it’s ligament damage, which is harder to heal and repair. When I went to acupuncture last week, the pain disappeared as long as the needles were in the same areas (where the wrist pain is) on my right foot. Once the needles were out, the hand pain returned. I am thankful that the pain is only when I move my hand and fingers in certain positions (such as pinching fingers to grasp a plate). I can live with that.

        Thanks for asking. ❤

Would a brace help? Maybe copper or magnets? My daughter swears by the tape. She messed up her knee and ankle and decided to try the tape. She continued her kick boxing class with the tape, but anytime she took it off pain. Eventually healed.

A man in her class hurt himself and she offered him tape, he took it but didn’t use it. The next day he showed up covered in it 😂 Several people asked about it, he and daughter told them how well it worked. The next day half the class had tape on them. Kinesiology tape.

I’m thinking of having another one implanted. Have two already. The third one went bad, became infected and had to be removed. Infection still alive after 8 months on meds. Not fun. Carefully considering my options this time.

“get a little drunk and you end in jail”, not because he was black. I believe Paul Robeson wrote or sang those songs that got Kate Smith’s God Bless America banned at some sports events? See, avoiding social media still manages to piss me off. 😛

I have loved this movie and the music for years.
If you ever get a chance to see the movie Till The Clouds Roll By do It is all about Jerome Kerns music and there are scenes from Showboat as well as other musicals written by him

News has been that inverted yield curves (short term rate higher than long term) indicate a looming recession.

    Question: Who sets the rates?

Isn’t it the Federal Reserve? So if they jack up the rates, it’s the President’s fault?

I’m in the Midwest now for a High School reunion, staying at the house of a local businessman who is a friend of the family. (My nephew had said he’d put me up at his house, but when I arrived, his house was still in escrow, so he’s living with his boss for the time being, so I’m here too.) The boss tells me that his business has been doing well for a long time, because they really focus on doing the job right and creating happy customers. But he also said that people are more willing to spend money now that Trump is President. He says he doesn’t get involved in politics, just focuses on his family, business, employees, and customers, all of which comprise the bubble in which he lives and has influence.
He’s a prime example of the invisible Trump supporter.

    2 more cops shot today.
the dems better stop the cop hate or it will explode in their faces.
If they hate cops so much they should supply their own protection and stop having the taxpayer pay for it

Just heard on news radio an editorial comment that ended with, “It appears Representative Tlaib was more interested in attacking Israel than in seeing her grandmother.”

The other day Hubby and I watched “De Lovely” It was great.

I love all Cole Porter’s songs and this is one of my favorites.

    Sing it Billie

    • lateblum says:

It IS such a good movie! I love Cole Porter music. I have the soundtrack and play it frequently. ❤

    • Mt.Laurel says:

The big screen movie version of Evil Under the Sun, with an interesting portrayal by Peter Ustinov of Hercule Poirot, is a lot of fun. Has a great soundtrack using only Cole Porter songs and melodies.

  12. Propertius says:

Given that it’s Paul Robeson, he’s probably singing about Stalin.
