I’ve had a post in my head since yesterday but I can’t seem to find the time to transfer my thoughts to pixels. Mom is running me ragged today, and my 8:45am appointment yesterday with a podiatrist ended up being most of the day. I currently have both legs wrapped from ankle to knee. I can’t get them wet which means no showering – just whore’s baths in the sink only. I go back on Friday to get the wrappings changed. I’ll wrap them in plastic so I can shower Friday morning and if they get a little wet, oh well.

The Itch Fairy has been unmerciful. I want to scratch my legs sooooooooooo bad right now.

She was 21 and she claims she was on the pill. smh

This thread is worth a read despite the gratuitous Trump-bashing. It’s a good refutation of the 1619 Project bullshit, but McLaughlin is NeverTrump so he can’t even take a dump without taking a shot or two at our President.

Kamala Harris reaches out to the voters of the future.

I’m glad Alyssa’s happy for her choice, but does she ever think of those babies who would have been in their 20’s now? I’m sure she does and why she has to always remind us “it was the right choice for me”. My sister never forgot that child who would have been 50 now.

    • Miranda says:

Back in the 80’s, I had a serious pregnancy scare. I wasn’t pregnant, and wouldn’t have had an abortion if I’d been pregnant, but ever since, at the back of my mind, I’ve always thought “If I’d been pregnant, they would be this year.”

      • lateblum says:

I know I lost a baby in ‘78 and I still wonder “what if”… I know people who had abortions and never looked back. I’m just not that person. But if they had to remind me over and over how happy they are, I’d know they’re lying.

        • DeniseVB says:

Had a “false” pregnancy between #2 and #3. That would have been the late 70’s too. I was “late” and feeling bleh. Went to the walk-in clinic on base for a pg test, it was positive, so they scheduled me for an OB blood test work up at Balboa NH, then I could see an OB, another month later. (sigh, military medicine is socialized medicine). By this time had told all my friends and relatives, happy, happy, times……it would have been my 4th month when the OB told me, you’re not pregnant, blood tests said so. Here take this “pill” for 5 days, if nothing happens, come back for a D&C. Well, something happened so I was spared the sandblasting of my uterus. I still miss that clump of cells. I know, weird. I’m not that person either.

      • Woke Lola says:

I had one of those as well. No period for three months and I was sure. In my head I named her Grace, and I still think about what might have been. Turned out I was not pregnant. Got my period in the clinic when I finally worked up the nerve to get the test. It was a very stressful time for me, and I must’ve stopped ovulating during it. Only time that ever happened.

Y’know, I never judged those “choices” I just never wanted to talk about it. Make your choice and shut up. Like Racism, stop talking about it. In the past 70+ years of my life, I’ve only met ONE racist, and she’s a Muslim, and won’t go to a doctor who has any “blacks” in his practice. Racism.

  6. Myiq2xu™ says:

Poor Kamala-toe. She based her campaign on the assumption that black voters would support her the way they supported Obama. But they don’t seem to like her much. Maybe it was the black guys she screwed over as a prosecutor. Or maybe it was the black guy she screwed to get ahead. Maybe it’s her white husband. Or maybe they just want an authentic member of the black community instead of someone who is biracial and never lived in (or even visited) a black community while they were growing up. They won’t admit it but they got burned by Obama.

Or maybe America just isn’t ready for a POTUS with RBF.

2020 is going to be great. Remember the pact that a lot of west coast liberal states planned, to give all their electoral votes to the popular vote winner regardless of how the people in their state vote? Well I’m hoping Washington state votes for the Democrat and Trump wins the popular vote. So we will get to watch a bunch of idiot Libs put their electoral votes behind Trump!! Oh God I’m going to enjoy that!

  8. Woke Lola says:

Without those abortions we wouldn’t have had Charmed, and I would have about 5 years of my life back.

True story, tho, my best friend until she decided I was a racist in 2008 had FIVE abortions, 4 while she was allegedly on the pill. She claimed that she used two methods of birth control for the last two unplanned pregnancies. Now she can’t have kids and regrets not being able to. I think she got what she paid for.

    • DeniseVB says:

      Karma is a bitch. Sadly.

    • Mothy67 says:

My friend that laughed about abortion has three very problematic kids. Her daughter put her in the hospital. She has intermittent explosive disorder whatever that is. Her kids are not just cranky they have psychiatric issues. I would likely get a lot of flack if I said this to my college friends but I believe from my experience that kids are healthier when they are born to young mothers. Shaypup is 40 years younger than me but her mom was 18. She has no cognitive or social issues. We have ups and downs but its normal angst.
Most of my friends waited until there was a fat bank account. Had children after 45. They all have problems. I don’t have any hard data but it seems to me there is a correlation. Age makes a difference. I don’t think I will be kicking when Shay has her own kids graduate from high school. Let’s say she follows my script. She will have her first kid at 25. I will be 65. I would be 83 at graduation. Ugh. Those poor kids will have me calling them from the drunk tank in Belize where I am fighting extradition . I so plan on being an old criminal drunk. I have sat through years of horrid school concerts. I am heading South when school ends. I have every intention of being an awful old person.

If you choose Florida, don’t drive slow in the left lane! If you do you’ll trigger this awful old person 😉

So what is the deal, btw? I was just up north and nobody was driving slow in the left lane, in fact it was a massive concentration of road rage drivers. Pretty much everybody drives like a Barbour of hell until there are so many of them the road comes to a crawl. Somehow though, cross the Florida state line and they drive slow in the left lane and gawk?? Is it because they’ve never seen traffic flow? Is it some kind of shock that causes it?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is surrounded.

The left side of her conference, run by the so-called “Squad” of socialist Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) is ascendant as Pelosi’s top deputies–several committee chairs–face primary challenges similar to one Ocasio-Cortez used to wipe out longtime Pelosi ally, former Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-NY) on her path to power.

  11. Somebody says:

OK weigh in, dish, offer opinions, let’s hear it.

Back story, son announces the other day there is a scout round up at school and middle grandchild is interested. That’s cool, minor pain in my ass to get her there and back, plus I know I’ll end up doing everything but the girls aren’t involved in anything and I think joining something is healthy for them. Especially for the middle child, she’s exceedingly shy and very much a follower.

Last night was the round up. I was relieved to find out a troop meets at the front of my neighborhood on Tuesdays, I’ll probably get roped into to helping as I was a troop leader for years with my oldest, but meh, it’s close and good for grandchild maybe the other 2 will show interest. I’ve been talking up brownies, daisies and girl scout for days.

My son informs me grandchild can join cub scouts. I was like WHAT. He says one troop in the county is co-ed. So what, she’s a motherless girl the girl scouts is a much better choice, she doesn’t need to be a trail blazer. Why don’t you just put a rape me sign on her? Drop her off with a group of strange men and boys for the weekend, see how that works out. He digs his heels in…….this morning I find out grandchild is signed up for the fucking cub scouts. The troop she’s in is about 20 minutes away in good traffic and meets at 5:45pm. The girls go to bed about 7 as they get up at 4:45 ……bus comes at 6:05.

I am so pissed. I know thanks to SJW the scouts are now co-ed, but there is a reason they weren’t. I think the child just wanted the socialization opportunities. My son clearly was an influence here, he argued with me like a smug teenager, same look he used to get when he was being a shit. This is his child, this is not a power trip dynamic with me. He’s an adult, he’s responsible for 3 little girls and instead of being a mature adult he chose to make some point with me using his child. I am beyond pissed. I told him her scouts are his responsibility, but that means I’ll have the other 2 on Thursdays while he’s at scouts.

As an aside, the oldest who said she had no interest signed up for the troop at the front of my neighborhood.

Opinions on girls being in boy scouts and boys being in girl scouts. Call me old fashioned, don’t care I will totally own it. Remember these are girls with no mother at home.

One last thing my son was in cub scouts and he hated every minute of it. Never progressed beyond the cub scouts. His sister however loved the scouts and was in it until middle school when it wasn’t cool and we moved. I hope he hates every minute of the cub scouts again 😛 (yes I realize that is childish and immature of me, difference is I will not express it to him…..I’m much more subtle than that 🤣)

    • elliesmom says:

I have over 50 years as a member of the Girl Scouts. It’s an organization I know and love. I credit them with giving me the skills I needed to save my infant son. I think, like a lot of organizations, it’s as good or as bad as you make it, and I spent a lot of years making it as good as I could for young women in the Senior Scouts. All that being said, this year Crash joined the Cub Scouts. Not because she wasn’t having fun in Daisies because she was, but because my daughter got into a feud with the Daisy leader over something stupid. She walked out of registration without signing Crash up. Crash was talking about it with her best friend who’s a little boy, and he invited her to join the Cub Scouts with him. She decided to go for it, and she took her dad to the first meeting with her.

There are 3 other little girls in the troop, but Crash is the only little girl in her den. It’s run by a combination of dads and moms and older Scouts, including Crash’s older brother. Where I see a difference is the Girl Scouts seeks to be an organization run for the girls and eventually by the girls, but at least at that level, the Cub Scouts is a family organization. While the den meetings are just the kids and their den mom or dad, the pack meetings once a month are a family affair. Given your granddaughters’ situation, Girl Scouts is something they would do with you, but if they’re going to be Cubs, Dad is going to have to do his part. It’s not optional for a parent not to participate pretty much unless deceased. I’d guess that would be a positive for all of them.

There is no rule that says a little girl can’t be both a Brownie and a Cub. It’s only that resources can only be stretched so far, but if Girl Scouts is an easy one for you, take the girls to Girl Scouts and let Cub Scouts be something they do with Dad. No matter what your son does for a living, a single dad can find a way to get his child to a meeting at 6. Maybe he needs to work out a drop off with another parent and a pickup by him. The meetings are planned for those times rather than right after school precisely so a working mom or dad can get a child there. Pack meetings are always in the evening. The girls will be richer for having both experiences.

I hope Crash will find her way back to the Girl Scouts when she’s a bit older and could benefit most from having a “girl place” to be, but I’m delighted she’s delighted building a pinewood derby car with her dad right now. She does have an advantage here as her dad is an Eagle Scout, but even without that, the Cubs have been a lot of fun for her. How do I know there are 4 little girls in the pack? Crash asked me to make them all blue and gold JoJo Siwa bows for the their hair for the Blue and Gold banquet this spring. The girls don’t mind wearing the same uniform as the boys, but they wanted to be sure everyone knew they were girls. 🙂

    • Ann says:

My son started with Tigers and went all the way to Eagle Scout. Being an Eagle Scout is something you put on your resume, and never take off. It actually helped him in his interview to get into B-school.

Kids in Cub Scouts are just kids. Not too much of a difference between a pack of 7-9 year old boy, girls, or boys and girls mix. The differences will come in when she gets to Boy Scouts. IF she is very dedicated and can complete the necessary requirements (I’d look at the badges now to see if that would be something a girl could do as easily as a boy – my son is over 30 now and I can’t recall the requirements), being an Eagle Scout would be a huge accomplishment.

Saying that? Tell him to deal with it. If he wants her to be a cubbie instead of a brownie, he gets her there, does the camp-outs, the meetings, the fundraising, etc.

I would also NOT take the other two while he is doing cub scouts with the middle child. Let him get, and pay for, a babysitter. Decisions have consequences. Why would you aid and abet a decision you do not agree with? As you pointed out, they are his children. Let him take care of them.

      • Somebody says:

Thanks for the input guys. Comforting to know Crash is enjoying the cub scouts…..but a rural southern town might be a different experience from the more liberal NE.

I’ll bite my tongue and see how it plays out, just hope it doesn’t sour her on activities. I think if older sis is in the girl scouts and enjoys it, her run with the cubbies will be short lived. Although Ann brings up a good point about Eagle scout 🤔

BTW thanks for the bow tip, I think I’ll surprise her with a blue and gold bow.

    • Myiq2xu™ says:

I was a Cub Scout, a Webelo, and a Boy Scout, but we always had trouble finding adults to lead our group so there was no consistency and nobody advanced very far. So we would go in fits and starts, on-again, off-again. But I mostly enjoyed it. OTOH, back then there wasn’t much to distract us so we were bored a lot.

My sister was Bluebird and a Camp Fire Girl. She was a SAHM when her boys were young and she ended up being a Cub Scout Den Mother. (She also was a soccer coach even though she never played soccer except in P.E.) My sister is the type you want running things like that and while she was involved her troop did a lot of stuff. She stopped when the boys became Boy Scouts but the boys stayed active and now one of my nephews is an Eagle Scout.

For scouting to work, it requires a kid who is interested and adults who can be consistently involved. As you already know, SAHM and SAHGM are always targeted as potential troop leaders.

My advice is put your foot down and insist that your son either do it your way or take responsibility for doing it his way. That is one of my rules – if you want me to do it I will do it my way. If you want it done your way then do it yourself.

MSNBC’s phrase of the day for Trump and his questioning why Jewish people vote for Dems, given their dislike of Israel: “anti-Semitic trope” (I don’t recall them saying that about Ilhan Omar). Then they began listing all the ways Trump is anti-Semitic. Guess “racist” is not polling too well these days.

    • DandyTIger says:

That’s funny. So Trump pointing out that the Dem party of today is anti-Semitic, and Jews being a member is a bit odd and disconcerting, is somehow itself anti-Semitic. Left logic is a sight to behold. 🙂
